wish list? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

here are some functions that either i don't know where or would be a wish list:
1. redial
2. loudspeaker
3. new message tone?
trigo

1 not sure if it's there but i just use call history when i want to do it
2 as in when you hold down the pickup phone when speaking and sound inc so you dont need to hold the phone up to your ears ?
3 as in a different thing then you being able to set sms and email msg sound in sounds and notifications ?

If you'd done a search on previous posts - not something people wish to always do but these were covered SOO many times...
1 - Pressing down the dial button will redial the last number used
2 - Holding down the dial button when making a call brings speakermode. That is also in the XDA manual.
3 - You can set different message tones and replace virtually ALL sounds by going to the sounds option in settings on the phone. This is also in the manual (which is also available via download from o2's site or similar).
Cheers
Ant

i know that you can redial pressing the talk button, but is there a readial that dials if the phone you're calling is busy?
what kinds of sound file you can replace? wav, amr?

??? Has anyone MY|PHONE PROFILES ???

Has anyone this great app?
http://geocities.com/myppcpe2003/index.htm
Maybe a key for it?
I'D like to use it
It appears to be the best prog that I've looked for to switch my XDA2 to a changeable caller profile phone like a nokia!
I liked this app initially, great interface and lots of functionality, however I found a few problems:
Sometimes after changing profiles the ring would be silent when it should be heard - the dialog would pop up showing the caller, but no sound.
You can set it to automatically revert to the normal profile after <n> minutes, or at a certain time. For me this only happened when the XDA was on - thus if it should have switched profile and then a call comes in before you have switched on the device it still uses the wrong profile.
If these problems can be sorted it would be a great app.
As for a key... go to PocketGear and but it!
Yeahh..So It's not a perfect software again.
Do you know any program that analyze the caller from the contacts and you can select for example just one number or one goup to receive? The other ignored or silent like Nokia phones.
I have come across MUTX RingToneX which allows you to set ring tones by contact or category so this may well give you what you want. Can't tell you how good it is, but you can get a free trial from the link below:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=8675
Thx for the answer but I'm looking for an app with easy switching between sound profiles.
For example:
A) MODE
Every unknown number has RINGTONE1
FAMILY group has RINGTONE2
FRIENDS group has RINGTONE3
MY CARALARM SYSTEM (has a mobile calling function) has RINGTONE4
...etc.
B) MODE
Every unknown number is silent or ignored
Every other group than MY CARALARM SYSTEM is silent or ignored
MY CARALARM SYSTEM is ringing and answered (at night while I'm sleeping I want to receive just the call from my car's alarm system)
It's just a simple thing that a lot of phone's using. (Nokia & others)
I hope somebody understands my problem and knows an apllication with the ability I wrote above.
Thx
I think (not sure!) that you need a combination of two programs:
JGUI My Phone Profile AND IA Caller ID (OR Caller2picture)

THanx the answer but I'm sure (not think) that I don't need the combination you wrote because My phone profile can switch just sound profiles with setting the ring volume or vibrating, IA caller ID can add a picture to a call, Caller2picture can add a ringtone and a picture to a call.
But I need what I wrote upper, please read it perfectly, because it is something different.
I need a software that has the ability to verify a caller-group and for example you can reject all number/call except the caller-group you set like with Nokia phones.
ANYBODY DOES UNDERSTAND WHAT I WANT???????
Maybe because I'm from Hungary and my english is not so well..... :?
My Phone Profile 3.1
My Phone Profile 3.1Full
Reg Code: TMPP-1177-JGUI
Have a fun!
If you have an XDA II, you don't need to get the IA Caller ID because it's already on the XDA II. IA Caller ID is called Photo Contacts in the XDA II.
Caller2picture can add a ring tone to a group. Whenever you want to reject a specific group, give it a silent ring tone.
@VHS: bad boy... i don't think that this should be made public... software worth using is worth bying.
hehe ...bad not bad, but apart from that a/m ...
discussion has been pretty much interesting to me as to sound profiles etc, I have been also looking for some time for software allowing for easen phone handling
regards and Happy New Year,

Finger Clix
Check this:

It is the best phone dialer ever!
thank you
I wolud give it a try

:? :x
So..Nobody understands what I want.
OK.
Tekflow:
Thanx, but I know that I can set a silent ringtone for a group with one of these softwares. But I NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT:
I have a car within a mobile-phone-alarm-system. If somebody does something with my car, this mobile (in my car) calls my mobile phone which is with me. So, usually (always) I switch off my phone by night. But if I switched off my phone I would never know my car's calling. That's why when I had a Nokia7650 I can set a profile called Night-profile which has the settings with all calls + all groups has a silent ringtone and my Car-alarm-number has a loud-sirene-ring. That caused when somebody called me except my car my phone was silent. When my car called it ringed with the highest level. And if somebody wanted to stole my car I had heard it. But not now. Because I don't want everybody to call me from 6 a.m., that's why I switch off my phone, but if I switch off my phone I can't hear if my car's calling me.
That's what I can't set in my XDA2.
With no any of your suggested programs.
I know all of them, and I know none of them has the ability I wrote upper.
SO........SOMEBODY UNDERSTANDS WHAT I WANT TO SAY SINCE DEC.05.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
p.s.:I think so that FingerClix is the best dialling program for the XDA (I use it), but I need another thing, not just for dialling or to give a ring volume for all numbers and groups. My phone profiles can set just a general volume and vibrate settings without any choice to give a different volume for just one group or one phone number like Nokia.
(Maybe since dec.5 there's an update for MyPhoneProfiles or for the others and they have expandable ability?)
I (hopefully) understand what you talking about (have had a Nokia for years...), but i'm not aware of such a tool at this time for the MDA/XDA.
regards,
If I understand you: you need a program that gives you the opportunity of turning off the sound of the telephone for all incoming calls except one number or one group of numbers, or, better, to make call barring for all calls except for one number or one group of numbers (some kind of filtering). I also don't know if this kind of program is available for the Pocket PC Phone. Anyone on the forum aware of this ?
anybody has version 5?
I think what Tuningszocske want is something like Blacklist in Nokia Symbina phones. I know of a Chinese program call CallerFirewall, it allows one to add contacts to black or white list, you can choose to block all contact in black list, receive call only from white list or block all incoming calls etc. This program is compatible with dopod686、O2XDA、T-Mobile、and LegendT108.

DMTF

is there a way you can send DMTF with the JAM like in most nokia phone if not all
They say that if you switch off sound when you press buttons, DTMF tones are sent correctly. There was such a reply in this forum. Sorry, I don't remember the author
DTMF is no problem with my device even with sound/tones active when pressing the buttons.

It was not good on mine - T-Mobile MDA Compact. In some cases the other side did not show reaction on incoming tones. With the sounds set to "off" it became fine.
do one of you guys know, how i can store these dtmf tones? for example i you've got a mailbox where you have to enter a code for access. the easiest way(you don't have to remebmer the code) is to store the phone number incl the dtmf tones in the phonebook. like nokia does it, e.g. +49323244322p1234
after the p is the access code.
do you know a way how to do this with the magician?
thx in advance
simple. create a contact with the dial string. assing a speed dial and you're good to go.
111-2222,,,,1233
each comma makes the phone wait a few seconds before inputting the 1233 string.
Hope that helps.
cool thx. its working.
It is the same as Nokia
You can also do with the magician as with any other phone. The Pause digit ("p") is a standard convention. If you use it in a number in a Nokia phone, the phone will wait for the other end of the call to "pick up", and then will send the remaining characters as DTMF.
Same on the Magician. You should have just tried.
The use of commas is also standard and works in all phones, but it just makes a 1-second pause, which is not very reliable for the first DTMF sequence after "pick-up". In fact, due to line coverage, 4 commas might work one time, but not the other time. "P" works all the time.
On my Magician phone book I actually have very long sequences of DTMF, to check various types of voicemails, or use calling cards. I always use "p" after the main number, after that the use of p or comma is the same, it's always 1 second.
the "p" doens't work with my mda compact.
the , is okay but p not.
i tired before, otherwise i wouldn't ask
That's really strange!!!! Could it be that MDA's have got a different dialler (my Magician is i-mate)?

is there a better dialer?

Hi
I have an XDA2i and a leadtek BT GPS working together well, But Have only just got the XDA2i and want to use it for navigation and as a phone!
incoming call seem to work ok TTN5 mutes I talk on my Plantonics BT headset end call unmutes...
Making a call seem difficult while driving as there is no voice dialling running and searching contacts is difficult to see and operate!
How do others do this? Is there a dial that will display the contact list on double clicking the headset that uses a big font?
has anyone tried a headset with call display an directory browsing such as BT800#? if so do they work with the XDA2I
Any advice or help appreciated as at the moment I can't see me getting rid of my other phone!
i use Phoneplus. works great on my i-mate... http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=13354
Thanks, I will give it a go.
I also use phoneplus3 but you can also create POI with phone numbers for all the important numbers like home, work and friends then you can call them directly from within TTN5 via the 'call number' button in main menu 3 of 3.

Thanks, I have already added numbers to TTN5. I found and like pecaller, unfurtunatly it has a number of bugs like not remebering the groups etc.
So I'm using phonepluse but if they get the bugs fixed I would switch to pecaller and its free!
Thanks

Adrian,
You may try VITO Voice2Go for voice dialing or VITO QuickContact for finding contacts and calling with joystick (one-hand operation program, no stylus).

Thanks I will take a look.

making calls without opening phone/using touchscreen

So I can call the last person (just hit phone * phone). On the default phone screen (with the keypad, speed dial, call history, etc), is it possibl e easily get to speed dial or something of the sort?
I can hit phone * right rocker (menu), then get to speed dial, but it takes a lot of taps. Why isn't the numberpad accessible with the 4-way? Argh.

Option 1. Use Voice Speed Dial. Go to settings and set up your voice tags first. Then click the button on the left face at the top and speak the name. Phone dials! Only one click needed.
Option 2. Use Microsoft Voice Command. Don't have to tag first, will find anything in your contact list. Most of the time.
Option 3. Same as 1 or 2, but get a BT headset and click on its button instead of the phone button. Don't even have to touch the phone.
Option 4. Set up one-touch dialing. Go to contacts, press and hold a number, then do "Voice Dial" option. Assign to a digit 1-9. Then bring up the keypad and press and hold that same digit.
I've been complaining about this same UI gripe.
Wouldn't it be nice to hit call and go to the dial screen, and then use the up/down buttons to access the recent calls list like on a normal smartphone?

Or like my old Nokia 6310: just browse through your contacts with the up/down button. You can do that, but you can hardly see anything from a bit further away (when the phone is in a holder on the dash in the car). It should be possible to configure a mode where you only see names and numbers in a big font when using the phone. I don't care about addresses and stuf when I'm calling. It's a wonderful machine, but the phone is only usable when standing still...
I just set up 9 speed dial numbers. I hit the phone key, than tap and hold on number 1-9 and the associated number is dialed. Only minus is that you have to remember which contact is under which number. Takes only two taps.
In contacts, you can choose menu-options and have the contacts list show only only the names instead of the numbers as well. By pressing the right of the D-pad you can choose which number must be the first in the list. Then hide the numbers and just press to call. I admit, the contacts are a bit small when you are in e.g. a car. I set up the most used number of each contact, only if I want to reach them on another number I have to go into the contact itself to select the right number.
Do I have to BUY Voice Dial Software?
I previously had the O2 XDAII that had Fonix Fone Dial included in the bundle. I've now bought the Orange SPVM1500 (Alpine) but no voice dial apps are included.
Anyone know where I can get a voice-dial application for free?
Cheers from a hopeful newbie to this site.
I, too, was finding it tedious to perform simple phone function like quick dial or dedial. After I installed MS Voice Command, this phone is 100% easier to dial. Just push the button on phone or bluetooth headset, say "call last" to redial, or "call mike smith at mobile". Works extremely well without any training needed.
You can also say stuff like:
What is my signal strength
what is my battery level
what calls have I missed
play media
open start word
etc
I am still learning all the commands, but so far it's being one of the best software for PPC.
I want to chime in to say MS Voice Command is the BEST! Push ONE button and say "Call Emily on mobile". It even works with your bluetooth headset button. It doesn't get any easier folks!
I want it for FREE.
Trouble is, I had the facility before (Fonix VoiceDial) and now I don't.
I, therefore, want some FREE voice dial software. Anyone got any ideas please?
Thanks.
Am I missing something here?
U just press the button above thered call button to go into your contacts and move to the one you want... then call...
If you want a call history on a click of a button why dont you try and replace contacts or calender with call history?
I use vijay's callhistory prog,
http://www.vijay555.com/index.php?Releases:VJPhoneShortcuts
and I have remapped the left soft key, and it's one click away
OK after much messing with BT stuff and how much hastle it is. Im looking at sticking with wired headset that comes with the XDA2i, is it possible to get the unit to open a voice dial program from pressing the green button on the headset lead?? i havent used any voice dial progs, i dont have time to be messing trying out loads of progs and resting the xda all the time. I just want to have a prog installed. Listen to my music and tomtom5, answer calls like I can currently but then with the press of the green button switch to the voice dial prog.. tell it who to call chat then press the red button to end the call and switch back to the music and tomtom5.
can it be done and if so i need idiot guide... im not a hacker/programmer, ive never used a reg edit, have not idea what an extended rom etc is.
Many thanks
Try smartskey that remap navigator buttons in phone app to contacts/call history/quick dial.

Get smartskey. After pressing the the phone button (green call button), you can then just press up or down to get to your speed dial list or call history. This program has made my life with the Wizard a million times easier. Voice Dial and Voice Command are both good programs for touch free dialing as many others have suggested.
use smarstkey, vjphoneshortcuts. assign the left softkey to call history and the right to contacts. when you hold the down key in "contacts" for a while it starts to change the letters so you just press one of the soft keys a little of up and down and the green key

DTMF on 8525

Can anybody tell me how to send DTMF tone in Cingular 8525? I searched this forum and the internet infact, but not able find the answer.
I need it to be able to set up the phone number in the address book to do this:
dial the 877-xxx-xxxx number
manual wait
DTMF a 10 digit number followed by a #
manual wait
DTMF a 4 digit number followed by a #
manual wait
DTMF a 11 digit number followed by a #
This is for calling my parents in India and it's always been really convenient to just program the whole thing.
One way would be to enter a 'p' wherever you want a pause in the dialing. This produces a second or two pause between sending the numbers.
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried that and even tried adding w but it is not working.
Also my requirement is a manual pause meaning the automated message takes a while to finish, so I need to send the tones manually.
Hmmm. I dunno. I used to be able to do something like that on an OLLLLD Motorola and some home (non-cellular) phones by using several speed-dial locations, and calling up each one as it was needed. But I never tried it with my 8525 (and don't really need that usability now).
Maybe you can give that a shot and let us all know if it works????
Good luck!
Thank you for that suggestion. Since it is a lot of combinations I would prefer to use DTMF. I really don't know wherther you can send DTMF tones on 8525. Also I saw in the install notes of HTweakC 2.1 for Hermes that it would enable DTMF support. I guess I don't know how to use that feature. Can somebody please tell what I am missing?
DTMF
I had issues with this also.
I used the HTweakC 2.1 to turn on (then off / then back on again with soft resets each time.) (Don't forget to "save and exit" after changes.) the DTMF support.
Opened the phone app and went into options. Set DTMF to short.
Used the following format for the contact phone number.
(111) 111-1111w11111#w11111#
Everytime you get to a w, the phone will wait for you to press the send key.
I also was able to use the p to do a 2 second pause.
For some reason I had to redo the contact several times before it would work.
Good luck.
