Does any one know of the equivalent for the active sync for MAC s
I think it uses isync, you can use activesync through xp emulator on powerbook or you can buy pocketmac or the software at the following link, I am sure there are more options until microsoft bring a version out

hi there......
was just surfing the net and found out this software www.logmein.com all you need to do is register over here and download a software on the pc you wanna access and just install it.....after the installation is complete u can either access your computer from a pda from ne where or you can access it from ne other computer......
Conditions Apply :
the computer you wanna access shud be turned on and logmein software shud be running.
the computer you wanna access shud be connected to the internet.
this is how you can connect to your computer from your pda.
is this safe?
I used to use https://www.gotomypc.com/ a couple of years ago with my original XDA when I was away from the office. It did the job, but it's a bit tedius on a small screen. If you logged in from another PC it was great and I used it daily.
safe as eva it can get becaz u cannot do ne **** if u dun haf the admin username and password for tht windows machine(homepc)
You just have to trust the software.
I don't know these companies, and I'm sure they are all legit. But a bad one could simply send the ip-address, userid and password to a logging machine.
I wonder how do these programs compare to the latest version of PC Anywhere? I think PCAnywhere has a client for the Pocket PC and the plus is that you don't need to pay monthly subscription and that your data is totally safe as it's being tunneled directly to you bypassing any server. Plus Norton seem to have more resources than small companies. I also wonder how does this compare to Terminal Server Client.. Anyone?
yeah i did hear bout pcanywhere neva used it......but i heard tht its good n very stable software.....dunno whether its for free or u need to purchase it n stuff....n as far as pcanywhere hafin a client for ppc tht must be something good n worth looookin at !!
Remote Control
pcAnywhere is not free, but it does work well. You should look at VNC or RealVNC. It's free, and there is a client included in the SE ROM. There is some tweaking necessary for your firewall (if you're running one). I think the ports are tcp/udp on 5800 and 5900, but you should check the included documentation. Both client and server software can be found here: http://realvnc.com/
Terminal services is probably the best over narrow bandwidths like GPRS since it only sends the windows drawing commands to redraw the screen but you need either XP Pro or Windows server to run the server version of the program. I use VNC because I only have Win2k on my laptop - it's slow with screen updates.
VNC for 2003SE/Intel PXA: WHERE to download it??
Regarding VNC client for Qtek 9090, I miss something
(maybe because it is friday and I am getting tired) :? .
Where is it possible to find a VNC client for Qtek 9090?
If I understand well, to run it on a Qtek it has to be:
- either a Win Mobile 2003SE for Intel PXA program, or
- a Java program
Is that true?
And if it is, where can I find one, I don't find anything similar
on the http://www.realvnc.com/download.html .
Thanks,
Anton
any windows CE program will run
on xda's
there are many versions well 3 that i've seen of vnc clients for
windows ce / pda's with pocketpc now windows mobile on them
I did a google search, here's a link:
http://www.pocketpccity.com/software/pocketpc/VNC-Viewer-for-PocketPC-2001-1-2-ce-pocketpc.html
If you are running a v4 VNC server make sure it's in v3 compatibility mode since there is only a v3 PPC client available
Mark, thanks for pointing me to a link with a VNC client!
>any windows CE program will run
>on XDA's
Rudegar, regarding the HW platform, I still think that you have to
have a version compiled for your HW.
:!: However, in the meantime I found the answer at Intel's page
ftp://download.intel.com/design/pca/prodbref/251671-002.pdf
-->
Qtek 9090s (XDAs, and similar) have the PXA263 processor that is based
on Intel XScale technology, and these have the ARM* v.5TE ISA
compliant instruction set.
So a program for ARM will be the right one.

hi everyone,
just a quick question. i am going to format my PC and try installing Vista. I am home for the holidays and left my Activesync CD at school so i wont be able to get it for 3 weeks.
the question is:
is there a way i can retreive my cd key from the registry or anything so i can reinstall activesync on vista?
thanks everyone
If you are wanting to use vista, well you will not need it, as it comes with vista, it is a new one and you can not run the old ones with vista!

The key is application licence (wm5), activesync is a free download from ms for windows, the new release vista is built in.
I just tried to sync my MDA to Vista, and got the following error message:
Previous versions of ActiveSync cannot be installed on Windows Vista. The features previously found in ActiveSync are now available in Windows Device Center. Connect your Windows Mobile powered device to the PC to get the Windows Mobile Device Center from Windows Update.
So I went to Microsoft, entered the Windows Mobile Device Cenet as a search, it took me a new page all about Vista and ActiveSync. I downloaded the beta, it installed and work great! Very nice interface, all tools on one page. I'm a happy camper!
Hi There,
I am the proud new owner of a T Mobile Mda Vario II. So far I love it, I have gotten my email set up etc. The only problem I have is that I am a avid user of Microsoft Money 2005. Now on my PC I am running Windows Vista Home Basic edition. So when I try to install a program to my Vario which should allow me to keep track of my Microsoft Money accounts the installation tells me I have no Microsoft Money installed on my PC to Synch with. I am using the lastest release of Synch centre etc. So I don't know what the answer is. I was hoping some of you nice people on here might be able to help me out
how about some more info like what app you are trying to install what version of WMDC are you running the more info the better
It's microsoft money for the pocket pc. It ran perfectly when I had windows xp on my main pc with my other pocket pc. Since having windows home basic the program won't find the main program on the pc therefore I cannot synch my vario with the pc.
@quietgirl: WMDC = Windows Mobile Device Center. Try looking into that and re-read austinsnyc's response.

Checkout the MS uk money newsgroup....

Many people have reported issues with Money for PocketPC on WM5 devices. MS only support it on Wm2003 devices, but some users say they have it working fine on WM5. Hopefully someone in that newsgroup can help you.
Thanks for the advice. just thought I would post back what i've tried. none of the ppc programs will synch properly so I tried a trial version of sbf finance I think its called. after synching it quadrupled every entry in my money program on the pc. I have opted not to bother now. but just wanted to say thanks for the advice.
Hi all,
I would like to ask if you know a program to sync my Outlook calendar on my work PC with my Trinity? I cannot install ActiveSync 4.5, because I am not an admin on my laptop and the company has only MS ActiveSync 3.7 packaged and I cannot make it to connect to my Trinity. So the question is: is there any program which does not need to be installed (I can simply copy it to my laptop) or is there a way to connect AS 3.7 to my Trinity?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I had win 2000 and with ASync and every thing works a ok, with desktop connection on to Jas Jar via USB.
I upgraded to win xp sp2, installedt MS ASync 4.5 - since then MS Async has never worked.
Before I installed MS Async and had the jas jar connected via USB, i get the standard windows "new hardware found", I run this wizard buy I get there error, saying cant find software device may not work correctly. So I go ok, lets install MS Async 4.5.
I do this, and I connect the Jas Jar to the desktop PC via usb, yet the MS Async cant find a connection.
Yes the cables are all connected, Zone Alarm turned off, and also the XP sp2 firewall is turned off as well.
Any ideas ????
Active Sync 4.5 changes the way it connects from USB Serial Sync Mode to RNDIS Sync Mode. This can cause problems (it does for me). There is a little Microsoft program called ActiveSync Mode which allows you to change back. I you search on the web & find "ActiveSyncMode.sa.CAB" this will install the program. You then go into programs & you will see a new Icon for ActiveSync Mode. Hope this works for you.
Active sync problems
all worked fine now
thanks for the help guys
was thinking of trading in for an Iphone as they have dropped in price to 169 quid !
anyone think this would be a bad idea ?
I'l give this a go myself.
After experimenting with my exec/universal I discovered Activesync 4.5 on my XP Desktop works with the WM6 ROM but not the WM5 one.
But Vista on my Laptop will sync with Windows Mobile 5
I'll certainly check Activesync mode out then I can go back to WM5 as the Ranju core doesnt have msn otherwise everything works really well on it.
Where does th CAB file install to? I tried it on my XDAmini-s/Vario and it still doesnt sync with Activesync4.5
Hello JohnWB
It works for me too !!!!!!
Thank you very much indeed
