What is the extended rom?

I think I don'd understand what really is the extended rom.... Can you help me?

Search the forum. It has been discussed plenty.

The Extended ROM is a special part of the ROM, that is used of the providers to add their own and additonal files, that have to be installed on the first use of this device. It only have Programs and Reg-Settings in it. Afetr the installtion of this programs, the Memory Part of the extended ROM is useless for the device. You can't access the extended ROM and you can not save data on this memory....
Therefore the bigStorage hack is used to free this memory-part.

So... I'm Italian and I buoght my Jam with std Italian ROM.
I like to have Engl leanguage on all my devices so I hack the Country ID and I installed the WWE ROM.
It works fine but I lost some of Italian configuration and some applications (e.g. eTrust antivirus)...
I think that these applications are contained on Italian Extended ROM... is it right?
If is it right... can I install the Italian extended ROM in the WWE ROM?
Or... can I extract the eTRust antivirus and install it on my WWE ROM?

Yes, you should be able to install the programs of the italian extended ROM on the WWE ROM. Since most of the tools are os independet it should be no big problem.
The QtekS100_ITA_1.03.151 ExtRom is on the FTP. If your version was newer or anything else, than you have to get the files by yourself.....

I'd like to install the extended rom's app of Jam instead of S100...

you should use nbhextract to open the .nbh file inside the rom package, then remove the IPL, SPL parts. After that, use nbhgen to repackage a new .nbh file and use this new one to update your rom. That worked for me.

Request for Dutch official shipped ROM

Hello,
Does anybody know if there is already an official HTC Dutch shipped ROM available for the HTC Touch Cruise?
I would like to try some of the ROMs available in this forum, however I want to be able to switch back to the original Dutch ROM in case of problems.

The Part02 file is the file you are interested in.

can someone with the (original) dutch version check what their spl number is if its still not hardspl-ed?
(hold camera button and press the reset button while still holdhing camera button)

I've managed to made a flashable Dutch rom. I've used the original WWE ruu_signed.nbh as donor and the files from Session. But although it's working, there are many things not installed: HTC Home as well as several icons are missing in the settings.
The new ruu_signed.nbh is about 17Mb smaller then the donor. If I extract the wwe nbh file it also produces a 17mb unknown.nb file. How can I add this to the os-new.bin? Using nbmerge didn't worked (i might be doing something wrong though).

Strange.
I also have the HTC Home problem (reinstalled HTC Home, problem gone). No icons missing as far as i can tell.
The HTC Home problem also exists in other custom ROMS I tried (WWE WM6.1).
But the WM6.0 NL ROM is slow as hell compared to a WM6.0 WWE.
Maybe an experienced cook can help us with this. I only tried one weekend and got this far.

So you're missing the HTC Home to by default. And the icons I'm missing for instance is for example 'Device Information' (but then the Dutch translation of course).

I was unable to post my rom to the xda ftp site.
Somehow the ftp is broken and I can't log in properly. When that's done I'll post the latest rom image I pulled out of my device about a week ago.

first you should update the radio rom, or you will have trouble by flashing a new rom. (watch the wiki)
i would suggest xplodes WM 6.1, because it´s verry stable and clean.

i would change the rom just because i was not able to update the radio rom ( i have used the wiki but it returned several error anyway ).
could you link me the the rom "xplodes WM 6.1" because i didn't find it in ftp server.

ActiveSync problems

Since I unlock my Polaris and I was put in them a new radio, I had problems with ActiveSync and Outlook, after a hard reset. ActiveSync don*t create a folder with my device name, first. Second, PC Outlook don*t function, and third, my Polaris agenda give me some errors. Sometimes ActiveSync don*t connect with my phone.
P.S. Radio: 1.59.46.12

I have original ROM WM6.1

I think with official ROM u can only use Radio ver. 1.58 or 1.64...

I use radio rom 1.59.46.12 with official 6.1 rom 3.19.831.3 WWE and both run very smoothly. Improved active sync. connectivity, HTC weather updates quicker etc, etc.....can recommend you both rom's.

My ROM version is 3.13.405.0 WWE. Where I find an improved version, please?

With 3.13.405.0 WWE ROM & 1.59.46.12 Radio I hear a buzzy sound when I talk with my Polaris. In time, this buzzy which accompany the words increase. I changed the radio version with 1.59.44.02, but problems are the same. The speaker is ok, because when I minimize the volume the buzzy sounds are there. Any ideas, please?
