Aussie O2 includes Worldmate Standard Edition - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

We just got three more XDA II's in and there is now a piece of paper included that gives instructions for downloading WorldMate Standard Edition using a special serial number.
Offer expires 30 September 2004, when you cannot get the software anymore.

Timing?
Looks like a great offer - I wish it had been avalible when I bought, it would have saved me a load a money. Oh well - the joys of first adopters. I'll just have to wait for the same offer on the XDA III or maybe IV

O2 Announce XDA II Release date

Saw this article on The Register.
Part way down they say O2 has announced the XDA II will be launched on 1 November.
The important bit
O2 will initially offer the XDA II in the UK for £349, including sales tax and 12 months' subscription fees

On the systems in munich O2 said release date will be at the 01.11.2003 of the xda II.
Price will be 499€ with contract and about 800 without contract.
The software of the xda include a profile tool to change settings easily. Also the wireless modem is included. With the standard software you can also add pictures to incoming callers.
Tried if the device will fit to the proporta case, and it does.
Also asked what about update to WM2003 for the xda1, and they told me, that there never will be an official update from O2 (Germany).
Thats because they have a lot of problems with ROM updates.

Where to get an XDA II in the US?

I currently have an XDA I (Siemens SX56 AT&T) and would like to get an XDA II (unlocked) as soon as they're sold by a reliable US source. FYI, I called AT&T Tech support and they said an unlocked phone should work great, just swap the SIM chip over from my XDA I.
It looked like Phone4Devs would be a good source, but they went out of business. The other sources (below) I've found are mostly overseas and pretty expensive.

http://www.mobilefly.com/product.php?productid=278
http://www.ppcw-shop.net/index.php?cPath=20
http://www.expansys.com/d_pocketpc.asp
I'm sure I'm like many of you who would like to pay less than the $850-1,000 + Unknown Custom Charges, that overseas sources are asking.
There are many versions of the HTC Himalaya phone out there (qTek 2020, O2 XDA II, i-mate XDA II). It looks like the i-mate and qTek are the best for the US. Any feedback?
Let's see if we can find a good supplier in the US !!!
Thanks.

Use this link for USA marketed iMate or O2 XDA II. Sales tax charged in Illinois only.
XDA II Prices before Shipping
Benshop - US$905
Compume - US$830
Club i-Mate - $850
4Cellular - US$990
Mobilefly - US$880
PPCW-net - US$846
Expansys.us - US$833
I converted to USD where necessary and all are BEFORE shipping. Compume (Australia) and Expansys (World-wide) seem interesting.
and how about eBay ???
has anyone considered that option to acquire a/m XDA II ???

Ordered an iMat XDA2
Gave up on Expansys.us. Ordered a iMtae XDA2 unit from PPCW.net (Arne). On route, looking forward to it.
Still trying to sell my existing XDA1 though, pass the word

cshields1,
I understand what you mean because I am currently waiting on Expansys.us too. When you get your phone please let us know of your over all experience with PPCW.net and also how the warranty or technical support is handle for the phone. I understand Expansys.us will play the middle man if you have an issue with phone during your warranty period (which is good considering we are in the US).

Doesnt really say much hey!!!
mm Like lot of people I was expecting this price http://x.msmobiles.com/portal/images/o2/xda-exec-4-big.jpg ( £229 max ) and not £399 (I even have the catalogue in front of me it's not a fake.. and asked several without answer during the chat
Second things that I tried to get the price spec through o2.co.uk/xda has advertised ( redirection to http://www.my-xda.com/ ) and no trace of the exec and http://shop.o2.co.uk/cgi-bin/o2uk/j...set.do?pageMode=null&manufacturer=o2&x=13&y=2 doesn't have any trace of the exec too.
I participate to the chat ( and been logout during the chat by the flash application - irc would have been better for that but it worked otherwise so.. ) ;
The software should have a signature but could be installed if forced. I guess that orange UK will give the price of the same device before 3rd of October.
And TG has well played the game because he got a HTC for free lucky you
And why did you tell that USB HOST was working the 02 guy has by several times said that it wasn't active and didn't even know from where the rumor is from ...
Few questions has been asked without answer like the quality of the graphic card and such.
I think the XDA exec seems to be really good but was expecting it cheaper ( wasn't expected to have a £35-40/months contract for 12 months too ) I might wait december to get an upgraded pack or similar + cheaper (hope soo)

htc trinity availability

hi lmf here from singapore...
quite a hype for the htc trinity here but still a question mark on when it will be released here in my country, just wanna enquire has it been released yet anywhere other than ebay? hehe...
the trinity black available http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=HTC _P3600, £449.95...
My good contact at HTC states today I will only be able to buy it in Asia from December, and it will not sport a GPS chip (what an ommission). Of course I would want the all white version, look more stylish and luxurious...at that price!
hmm december will b a good time, heard from my friends it will be available in singapore in Jan 2007, anticipating still...
white looks better than the black version n who knows, other colors might pop up
It should be available in the beginning of November in Denmark. I already pre-ordered the black version in September

800$ (4,745 DKR) here - it cost 852$ (5,067 DKR) now since the price increased shortly after I ordered it. Fortunately I get it to the old price.
A few other dealers can be found here.
The P3300 is also avalable (for preorder) a couple of places - but it costs more than the P3600
BTW a new review is available here - poorly translated by Babelfish

wow that is almost like 1300SGD, quite expected for such a nice device, i believe its almost the same price when the Magician was launched in Singapore quite some time ago... thanks pal, would hope to hear a review from u soon!!!
Amazon Germany has HTC P3600 on the list for around 500 Euro incl. shipping.
Yeah right, 519 euros now. Amazon also offers the...Tytn for pre-order (not out yet), for 619 euros. Hahaha, the boys there have to get their act together.
According to my contact at HTC, there will be two PDAs with the HTC Prophet/Trinity form factor, but the one with more features than the Trinity - will only be released in the spring of 2007. Early adopters will love their Trinity - but miss out on GPS, AKU 3.0, an improved processor and a higher resolution camera. With my Tytn here now, I can wait...
Trinity OS is AKU 3.0:
OS 5.1.342 (build 15096.3.0.0).
Device feels much more responsive than TyTN.

u mean the earlier batch would not include GPS, AKU 3.0 n a higher resolution camera?
@SecureGSM
Thanks for the info, good news
@lmf_slacker
My question to HTC was if Trinity would include the latest AKU (3.5 I think), and the answer was "no, sorry". If as per the above post 3.0 is included this would be a step in the right direction, but GPS, USB host and high resolution cam will be added later. You know the game, version I, II etc. And WM 6.0 (Crossbow) will also help sell almost identical plattforms further down the road...

thx for the info lucas, so shall i put it that its not advisable to get the 1st batch of the release then?
As we early adopters know it is never advisable to get the 1st batch of anything, just too many bugs. Depends what one has now. A Tytn in hands is better than a half baked 2007 model, with important 2007 features (GPS, USB host, Wibro, VoIP in ROM etc.) missing.
hmm then i shall wait for the later batch to be release then i will get the Trinity, i believe it will be released in Singapore by Dopod if my info source is reliable hehe
Yes, Dopod is coming with the Tinity as D810
http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/handhelds/0,39001703,39272188p,00.htm
But before you get the Trinity, and if you dont need 3G, look at this upcoming Ipod-style marvel:

DVB-T is here in Germany now, and DVB-H will be.

well not that i have anything against Dopod but read in www.ppcsg.com that the service they provide, in terms of device repair and follow up is not the ideal so pray hard that when i get the device it would not give me problems so major that i have to bring to the service centre

Uk release date for the HTC Maple/Snap/S510 is due to be 12/13th June - Not long!
I want one. How do I get an unlocked unbranded one?
If you head on over to HTC's website (www.htc.com) you will be able to see the where to buy link and it will give you a number of suppliers or alternatively you can do a google search for 'htc snap'.
All I saw was links to buy through AT&T and T-mo. Im looking for one thats unbranded. Ill start searching after the release date I guess.

Hi - Just to let you know we now have stock of the SIM Free HTC Snap http://www.devicewire.co.uk/htc-snap
Regards,
devicewire.com
Got my snap! It really is brillinat, just setting it all up at the moment.
Tell us some more about it, or shoot a video or something !
Im not shooting video..can not be bothered.
So far i like the slim profile, and form factor, keyboard feels good and battery has lasted over a day and a half with a complete hammering on internet and constand download.
Bad bits, the back cover is a pain to get off, petty i know, but still (you need nails, I have none!). Tab key is in the wrong place, but quickly getting used to that.
Released!
