Hi,
I have QTEk 2020 Rom version 1.66.00WWE. When I try and enable permanent save for contacts when it gets to 69% it freezes and does a hard reset and I lose all my info. The permanent save for everything else works fine.
Any ideas? I am thinking the set up of this program may be corrupt any way to reload just this segment.

As i tried switching my SIM with another one, to my surprise, i got a HARD RESET!!! Was that suppose to happen? I usually get a soft reset everytime i change SIM. What could have I done wrong?
Anyways, that's another issue. Fortunately, I backed up my data in my PC using ActiveSynch that day, however, unfortunately, as I was in the process of restoring it, I encountered errors. It says it cannot copy some files for they have been locked by some applications running in my PDA. I was so sure that no application was running then, I even soft reset it a few times just to be sure. Still it prompted for those errors. It includes my contacts, appointments, tasks, and some other databases. What could have been wrong in that scenario? Does it have any prerequisites before doing restoration? Coz it's now scaring me off even if i do backups everyday. It just doesn't restore everything. Please help on how I could prevent this kind of errors upon restoration. Thanks.

look like you are not alone in having issues restoring contacts and such
Most likely the hard-reset was caused by the fact that you did not put your phone in flight-mode before changing SIMs.
Happened to me once . . .
There is a thread on it . . .somewhere
edsub,
I don't switch my pda to flight mode everytime i change SIM and I usually don't encounter hard resets, only soft resets. This is the only time i did encounter it that's why i was wondering coz everything i did was just the same as before.
rudegar,
i was having problem on restoration of *.stg file coz it doesn't seem to restore everything. i encounter errors at the last part of restoration process wherein it warns me that some database files (including contacts and appointments) cannot be copied to my pda coz they are being held by some applications that are currently running. And im sure that there's no application running then, i even did some few soft resets prior to it, just to make sure.
yes i had that thing where it give those errors and dont restore contacts and appointmens and such but it does always restore applications and files for me
then when i have restored i just sync the xda with outlook and i once more have my contacts and appointments
Thanks rudegar,
So you're saying that we currently don't have any resolution for that, just a workaround? Actually, I'm now having my pda sync with our exchange server just to make sure if ever that darn thing comes out again. Thanks so much, il try to as microsoft about this.
I recent dropped my XDA and it stopped responding to the power switch so I had to do a hard boot, losing all my settings and data. The data was no big deal as I synchronise to Outlook fairly regularly, but losing all the software and settings was a real pain, and this is the 2nd time it's happened...
I've now spent the day putting it all back as I want it and don't want to have to do it again. Can I now somehow get the system as it is into the ROM so a hard reset brings it back to its current state?
Thanks.
backup with activesync or xbackup or spiritebackup
I'm already using Sprite, but I'd like to be able to have ROM set how I want it. Is this not possible?
Thanks.
You can add your settings by "cooking" your own ROM.
But this will include only the initial settings. So if you change any data, these won't be in the ROM.
Forr making your own ROM you have to use mkrom ....

Hi,
Recently I restore all my data by xbackup program, since then I can't open Outlook in the JAM.. I 'm choosing to send sms from contact list & nothing happened ! click on inbox - nothing opened ! sometimes it give me an error something like that 1004:213..
what to do?
is there anyway to solve the problem without Hard reseting the device !
when you restored the device did you still have data stored on it or was it restored to a hard resetted device? When I did a restored on my device there was a conflict with the data on the device and the data in the backup and I experienced a similar issue. I hard reset my device and then restored from the back up and that seemed to clear things up.
Hi everyone, I have a problem restoring my Vogue from the exe back up created with Spb Back up.
Here is the situation:
after a hard reset I restored my PPC from the back up file. Seamed like everything was fine until it rebooted (did it twice.. ??) and after it restarted the second time I noticed I could not use the phone function (could not bring up the phone screen from the hardware button or from start-phone) and I could not use the internet...no connection.
Also some programs like..ContactManager are not running properly.
did the restore couple of times same result.
any suggestions please ?
I tried taking the storage card out while doing the restore...still no luck.
maybe I should do a customized restore and uncheck some system items ?
can anyone help please ?
PS: if I just hard reset the phone to factory settings everything works fine, so the problem is clearly somewhere in the backup file.

Are you running any apps off the storage card? Or is an app pulling something from the storage card? I had recently done a full backup but my backup file is stored on the card and I have not run into any problems so far. Also have you tried restoring from a older backup file? I have mine set to the default keep 3.
update
well, I tried a customized restore and I unchecked "emals"...so it looks like that solved the problem. can use the phone and the internet just fine now.
everything seams fine as of yet
will let you know if anything else goes wrong.
I must say this SPB BACKUP is pretty sweet ! A+++++
Hi there,
I am using the Niki Project Rom v1.0 WM6.1 and when I apply the regedit to hide the SIM contacts, every time I restart or soft reset my Touch Dual the SIM contacts re-appear.
The \key I am changing is:
HKCU->ContrlPanel->Phone->ShowSIM
I change the Value from 1 to 0 and this hides the contacts.
After a reset this value goes back to 1.
Can anyone tell me of a permanent fix for this?
Cheers

In your \windows\startup\ folder delete "sddaemon"
It's the thing that's at fault for them always coming back IIRC.
Cheers
Thanks for this response.
What is the function of this file and in deleting it does it have any affect on anything else?
Cheers,
gjrober
To be honest, I have no idea. It's not in a lot of other ROMs, and deleting it when I was using the Niki V1 ROM didn't seem to break anything
If you're worried about it, back up the file to some other folder so you can return it there if something you use breaks - but it certainly didn't seem to do anything when I used that ROM.
You can use Schap Advantage Configuration Tool
