Well, after weeks of research, I ALMOST bought a Cingular 2125. Sigh. :-(

So I had done all my research and was about to spring for a Cingular 2125...then I came across something that I think has killed my decision. As you know, the Cingular 2125 comes with Outlook 2002.
Well, I just bought a Vista laptop, then I read at the website below that Vista will not sync with Outlook 2002. Other than getting a newer version of Outlook (which I can not afford to do), is there any way of getting Outlook 2002 to work with Vista? Or perhaps is there some other solution that I'm not thinking about? Thanks!

Well Vista kind of sucks, at least for a developer like me, but since that is what you have I have an idea that might work nicely for you. If you are serious about using email, calendar, contacts on a wizard then the way to do it is using an exchange server. It just so happens that www.mailstreet.com the biggest Exchange outsourcing company gives you a downloadable version of Outlook 2003 with you mailstreet subscription. You also get wireless active sync which kind of fixeds your original problem in another way. You don't ever need to plug your device into the computer again to sync it! You also get Outlook web access which is kick ass also. With the newer roms AKU 2 and up you get push email from exchange server which is also pretty kick ass!
I have many exchange accounts from mailstreet and they are top notch. For a single account plus active sync wireless access it will cost you about $16 per month US.

Because I'm a poor student and I can't afford any more than the $200 that the 2125 would cost me.
You can get a Dash or 3125 for PRETTY close to that. I'd go for either of those and at least use something that is still supported!
Both are exceptional devices.

Old ipaq h1915

Hi,
i've found an ipaq h1915 and would like to use it on my vista.
but because it is still a windows mobile 2002 and vista needs atleast 2003, i can't use it.
can someone help me with this prob.
thx
Jerre
anyone an idee or a link to: how to change a windows mobile?
Change it in to what?
Just kidding. Didn't know Vistas device center does not support old PPCs. One more reason not to use this crappy OS.
Unfortunately as far as I know there is no update for that model.
You could check out HP site, but I doubt you will find anything. Your best bet is to download ActiveSync 3.8 (google it since MS no longer provides downloads) or even 4.5 (from MS site) and see if Vista lets you install and run it.
thx for the reply.
i also had the idee to download the active sync 4.5, but as usually doesn't work on vista because vista has a program of it's own for that.
called mobile device center, installed it... gues what doesn't work on windows mobile versions before 2003

if your PC using Win 7, of course you have to use WMDC to sync with your device..
and you can download it from here

Hi Hakim,
The link that you posted point to a page not found in Microsoft's website."Windows Mobile Device Center", or WMDC, is only available for Windows Vista.
Maybe Microsoft no longer supports WMDC beyond Vista. Thanks for the tips anyway.
Cheers
