Application to read Garmin Maps - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi everyone,
I am looking for an application on PPC2003 to read
Garmin maps (IMG format).
Reason is that I have NOT go onto the GPS bandwagon yet
but I noticed a lot of Free garmin maps on the net.
This maps will come in handy even though I don't have GPS.
So if anyone knows of such an application, please let me know.
Alternatively, anyone knows what is the best alternative
to get free maps and free map readers (NON GPS)?
John Smith

Any offline map software?

I currently have Google maps installed which is incredible (http://google.com/gmm), but does anyone know of any map software that I can use without a data connection? I was hoping for something as good and free as the google map.

i asked this a while ago in the general forum, there is one by nokia called smart2go, but apparently nothing else
That is a neat offline map. You can download maps from all over the world for free. The only thing that it is just literally just a map. Once I want to start putting in locations and mapping routes, that's when I gotta pay. It's nice tho, works fine on my WM5. Thanks for the find! I'm still open for suggestions if anybody knows of any other progs.
I'm about to try Pocket Streets 2002
I know I downloaded it free, but I think I may have to have Streets & Trips on the PC. I don't remember.... I'll let you know how it goes. I'm wondering if anyone else has any ancient stuff, when WiFi was our only internet option (in general), so live maps were pretty pointless.
Of course, there's the outdated data thing to consider.
I was also wondering if something like AvantGo might work. I imagine it would be possible to edit the page to add your own stuff. ???

Best Gps Navigation Software

hello everyone!
i am going to buy a gps mouse today, the hollux 236, and now i am wondering, what you think are the best apps to use with a gps mouse!?
most of all i am interessted in navigation software, like TomTom for example. but what are the alternatives to TomTom? what's your recommended nav software?
i would also like to know, what other usefull apps there are to use with a gps mouse...?
any info is appreciated!
thx in advance,
krz
I would definetly go for tomtom navigator 6, its the best ive ever used simple yet effective
IGO - the best for driving navigation
Wich country
You will not always have the choice because not always navigation software have the maps for the countries you want.
for exemple, Tom Tom is a lot for Europe and USA and Mapking for Asia
I am using three on my Artemis:
iGO 2006 Plus with the lastest Portuguese/Spanish maps (2007.07);
TOMTOM 6.032 (8351)with the latest Iberia maps (675.1409);
ROUTE66 Navigate7 with the latest Iberia maps (Q4, 2006 i think);
Both TOMTOM and iGO work better than Route66 because R66's maps are very old and i can't find anything more recent. My favourite is TOMTOM because of its ease of use and overall speed starting up/navigating. iGO has got the looks and the maps are as good (or seem to be) as TOMTOM's.
I also have a TOMTOM GO V3 standalone navigator with version 7 of both the software and maps (Iberia Version 710) and those are way more updated than version 675.1409. Also it has much more detail on the maps.
All this text to say that if TOMTOM7 comes out for the PDAs it's gonna be a winner for me.
i would say garmin...now there is the new mobile xt prog for free for ppc...correct maps for europe...including deep city view
thx for the answers!
i think, i will give iGo Plus a shot....
what other cool tools should i get for working with the gps...?
i once heard of tools to programm or configure the gps mouse...?
interessted in more tips and tricks,
krz

I use Igo and I like it more than Tomtom.
the next version (Igo 8) is coming soon and I was very impressed with the demo I've seen.
But is there any good GPS software with Middle East maps. I love navigation but dont have any GPS Software.
If anyone of you have a GPS software with Middle East Maps, so please can you give me.

Where do you get this sw free?
http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us
you can visit that site for further information, i guess garmin works the same way tomtom does, so you can get the software for free and maybe a test map and the only thing you need to buy are the maps. i didn't look up the price for a us / north america map now, because i am at work and the garmin site is really slow.

Using map without internet ?

Hi, I am a newbie and i want to ask that is there any U.S.A map software for htc 8525. i know there's goggle map or something else like that. But the point is i need a map software that i can use without internet. California or San Jose Map would be great. My phone is htc 8525 wm6 rom RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3_1_.57.502.1_6275_1.48.00.00_108-ATT-MR3_Ship.
thank you very much
Look into iGO8 or Tomtom7. Both do what you would like at the expense of a one time cost of buying it. You can also use Google Downloader to download maps and then load them to Google Maps.
Can you explain more about "using google downloader to download maps and then load them to goofle maps". thank you

Offline Maps

Hi All,
Does anyone know of an application like google maps that allows you to download a complete country map to your device? In my case Australia. I used to have an N95 8GB and Nokia Maps allowed me to download the entire map of Australia to my phone so I could use it offline. I would like to do this on my HD. I have google maps installed and it is perfect apart from the fact the it must have a data connection to work. I know it can cache maps but I am not interested in that, I want mapping on the fly. I also have TOMTOM installed but it's maps lack detail and the ability to browse around a map is very poor.
If anyone knows of a solution please let me know.
Cheers
Craig

Does It Compare To garmin? But i,ll try it
you wont get a decent program without paying for it.
you can install TomTom7 for free (search here for cabs) but that wont have any maps. you can download a map of a local area (not very big) to try it, this is done from TomTom once it is installed.
Just get CoPilot Live 8. Its $19.99 right now via DL with maps. deal
Thank you guys i,ll do that
i just saw one on freewarepocketpc.net called navicomputer that looked really cool. you might have to get your own maps....i didnt get that far
i have sprint, so i have sprintnav which is great.
also, there is waze which is kind of cool but the program needs to be used for a time to learn your area (you will have to try it to understand)
www.waze.com

nice geocaching software, and free!
