how do i change sd card name from chinese name to storage card?
i have edit registry, but it doesn't work.
can anyone help me?
thanks.
Edit the "Folder" key here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\SDMemory
Then soft reset the machine.
Or you can install pocket mechanic, there's a feature specifically for renaming your memory cards, you can even give separate names to sd and mmc cards so you know which one is inserted

My XDA2 can hardly read/access my SD card, it need soft reset to read my SD card, I'm using NCP SD card, I don't try any other tough...
Download Pocket:Mechanic from antontomiv.com and format your SD card and see what happens... You can Format, Verify, Repair and Defrag your cards... Very neat utility....

I have already format my SD card many times, and it seems that my SD card has no problem... :?:
did you use storage tools to format it ?
if not try it
I have the same problem as OP.
Recently I upgraded my SD card from a 64MB Sandisk to a 1GB Sandisk on my Imate. It keeps loosing the Storage card access, i can't access any files (it looks blank when i try) and i can't create any files/folders on the storage card. When i soft reset the device, the storage card comes back and my files are there as normal...
Same problem as you. I think you need to say (to get an answer), that on one hand the card is available after softreset, but on the other hand it takes about half a day on my XDA2, that it disappears again.
Searched the reg on the string "Speicherkarte" (storage card in Germany) and found some settings, can anyone explain them to maybe get a solution?

I've been using a 4GB SD card for the past 9 months and never had problems. I recently decided to upgrade to Helmi_c's AKU3.5 ROM which seems real solid but I have noticed one problem...my SD card is changing its name and as such, all links are now missing. They all originally pointed to "Storage Card" and I've found that the SD card is now called "Storage Card 2", hence the missing links.
In looking at it further, I notice that there's a "Storage Card" folder created in main memory with the folders for both the IE cache as well as the inbox storage, both of which were on the card before. I am able to delete this folder and reinsert the card, do a soft reboot and all is back as it was once before...all links and icons working.
I do use Tweaks2K (also on the SD card) for the modification on the registery to make both the IE cache and Inbox storage to go to the SD card. I don't know if it is an issue with the ROM update since it didn't happen on my original AKU3.2 ROM or not. I'd hazzard a guess that the card is not being read when it the Universal turns itself on and not seeing the card, it creates the new "folder" with the IE and Inbox folders, cancelling out the real SD "Storage Card", contributing to my missing icons/program links.
Any one have any thoughts on this or point me in the right direction? I've googled the web and searched this forum but haven't seen an answer or I'm not using the right keywords. Any help or directions would be great as this seems to happen every 3-4 days.
Thanks!!!
Kent
My wm6 fails to recognise my storage card and renamed it "storage card 2" I have to reinstall all my apps and there is no icon under file explorer for the storage card either I have to use the pull down menu to access it.
registry fix needed? any ideas?
if you place another card, it does the same?
You probably changed locations ie temp or mail to storage card. SD card is initializing after some system services. Try back to old settings in registry.
same prob
hello my storage card disapperard from my file explorer too!
i've got a HTC Elf, black & blue WWE Rom on it, default location of ie cache and mail attachments is storage card i think(pre-set by the ROM).
so i didn't change any registry settings, but after some days of use my storage card disappeared...
don't know what to do now, need ur help!
storage card disappearing...
happened with me a few times...
at first thought that the card is corrupted...
a soft reset resolved the issue.
My trinity always displays my 2gb minisd storage card name as three question marks in boxes and i cant rename it.
I can read from the card fine but am having problems configuring program data files to point to it as it cant follow a path of /???/filename.
Is there anyway i can rename the card?
I have tried several reformats fat32/fat, renaming the card in windows/on another phone, and deleting the storage card folder and doing a soft reset. what ever I do my phone still displays ??? as the name.
When i try to rename it on the phone it says "unable to rename"
Have You Just Flashed Your Rom?
yes i have and unlocked it, loaded WM_6.1_v3.0-F.exe rom
installed new rom with memory card in, now works a treat
hello all. I have a t-mobile wing and I am having problems with my extra storage card. I had 3 folders on there that seem to be corrupt. The folder names have changed to these weird symbols and the folders are empty. another problem is that I can not delete these folders. Through active sync or on my wing I can not delete the folders. But I am able to continue to save new files on to the storage card.
any advice on how to delete or format my storage card and start fresh?
thanks
The best thing would probably be to format your SD card using your computer. This software might help:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html
I haven't used it personally, and I can't remember the exact name of the SD Formatter Utility I've used in the past, but if you Google "SD Format Utility" you're bound to come across one that will work.
