My XDA2 can hardly read/access my SD card, it need soft reset to read my SD card, I'm using NCP SD card, I don't try any other tough...
Download Pocket:Mechanic from antontomiv.com and format your SD card and see what happens... You can Format, Verify, Repair and Defrag your cards... Very neat utility....
Regards,
Rayan
I have already format my SD card many times, and it seems that my SD card has no problem... :?:
did you use storage tools to format it ?
if not try it
I have the same problem as OP.
Recently I upgraded my SD card from a 64MB Sandisk to a 1GB Sandisk on my Imate. It keeps loosing the Storage card access, i can't access any files (it looks blank when i try) and i can't create any files/folders on the storage card. When i soft reset the device, the storage card comes back and my files are there as normal...
Same problem as you. I think you need to say (to get an answer), that on one hand the card is available after softreset, but on the other hand it takes about half a day on my XDA2, that it disappears again.
Searched the reg on the string "Speicherkarte" (storage card in Germany) and found some settings, can anyone explain them to maybe get a solution?

Hi All,
My MDA II plays strange game in case no card inserted - alocate 14,57MB Storage. No other storage card recignize (trying 128, 256, 512) only ****ing 14,57MB as a internal memory.

Storage card trouble
I think I am missind fatfs.dll file - anybody can sent it - is in a windows folder.
Leonid
My I-mate has 14 MB of internal storage on it. It can be used to permanetly store backup info like contacts, tasks and network settings so that you do not lose them during a hard reset. Under File explorer it displays as "Storage." When you insert an SD card it should come up under File Explorer as "Storage Card." When I first got my 512 SD card my I-mate was a little buggy about transfering files to it, but after a hard reset it worked perfectly. (I dunno what it was) If you can afford a hard reset maybe it will help. You can always save your Contacts/tasks/settings in the 14 mb storage before you do.
Card problem
Thaks for explanation, but my MDA II still does not read any card. I was browsing registry and could see that MMC and SD cards require fatfs.dll library what is not presented and registered. This library shall be in windows folder and if you send it I can register and test it.

Sometimes after a soft reset I find that I cannot access my SD card. the reason is that my card has been renamed "Storage Card2" and I have a new "storage card" that really does not exist. In order to access my card I have to delete "storage card" and reset, then storage card2, becomes just storage card. I have this happen with two different cards, so i am sure it is not the card.
I am assuming my card is not initializing and that is creating the problem? If so, can I do anything about that? If that is not the problem, then what?
Cingular 8125 with HTC ROM 2.25.
that happenned to me once too.
Hey,
I was using Pocket Mechanic to defragment my storage card, and at the end of the process it had asked me to soft reset my phone to complete the process. So i did that and now my phone will not start if my storage card is in my phone and to turn on my phone i have to wait untill everything is booted to insert the storage card. And for some reason when i go in my file explorer it shows as one FOLDER named "storage card" and my STORAGE CARD named as "storage card2", and now all the shortcuts do not work and i cannot rename my storage card back to normal, any ideas? thanks!

Well, it unfortunately looks like you've got a corrupted storage card. You're going to have to format it. If you have shortcuts to programs that you've installed onto the SD card, re-installing those apps will/should just resolve the shortcut problem.
STOP, thats not always the case!
a) Remove storage card.
b) Open a file explorer, you shoudl see the folder "storage card". delete it. It was created, because the system could not open up the real storage card.
c) re-insert the storage card. It should now come up with "storage card"
Still, the storage card could have bena affected so you could use a application like "pocket mechanic" to scan the storage card for errors.
If you find errors get a storage card reader for your pc. then you copy all of your (working) data to the pc, format your storace card and re-copy everything to the card.

Ok so that did the trick! delete the Storage card folder before putting in my storage card successfuly fixed all the shortcuts. However, I still cant reboot my phone with my storage card in it, once it gets to the windows mobile screen it just restarts and it will never get any further than that unless i take out my memory card. In my memory card i do have Tomtom set up in it and its got a "autorun" file in it so could that be the error? thanks!

Few days ago my storage card (mini SD 1Gb) got new name: Storage Card2.
I noticed that after a soft reset (hp ipaq 6965, WM5) a new folder had been created on the hp device, called Storage Card and the actual storage card (with all files) was being designated Storage Card2.
If I delete the new folder and remove and reinsert SD card then it reverts to being storage card. Unfortunately it reverts to storage card2 after every soft reboot.
How to solve above problem ?
Encounter this before too. But some how it does not happen too frequent.
May be you would want to try defragmenting your memory card?
Would a full hard reset solve this?
just hard reset ppc storage card problem will solve

Not only with hard reset, If this happens, all the shortcuts/launchers for applications that are installed in the Storage card will stop working, though you can still launch them by going to the respective folder in Storage Card2. You cannot delete "Storage card" folder because some applications may be using files from here. The solution? Rename the folder! Once you rename, immediately do a soft reset. Once the OS boots again, quickly locate this renamed folder and delete it. Now you can insert your SD/CF card back and you will see it being properly named as Storage Card. Peace.
Good Luck!
A strange thing happened - my memory card changed its name from Storage Card to Storage Card2 - now my progs dont work!
Anyone know how to change it back?
i had that happen to me once, i took the memory card, and deleted the folder called storage card from file explorer and then reinserted the memory card again. You might need to soft reset afterwards
Some program likely tried to write to the card while it was out.
Take your card out
Delete the remaining "Storage Card" folder
Reinsert the card.
Did you try and move the inbox to the memory card?

didnt do anything, think it tried to do something when it was connected to the computer as a storage device.
All sorted now, many thanks.
