Hi
My girlfriend was playing with my phone, the battery died, so she apparently kept taking the battery out and putting it back in again.
The internal battery then died and I lost all my data - AND my phone has no idea that it should have a camera.
I have just bought a "ghost Sim" so am looking to unlock the device (will search your site shortly), but how do I get my camera back?
Please help.
With thanks
Dave.
Sorry, should have also said that I have no idea how to perform a hard reset, but read another post about the pins shorting out so did the same thing.
Ran a wire across the terminals (not fun) and now the phone has completely reset itself.
Thanks for the info.
So your XDA problem is solved then? For future reference, to hard reset simply hold power while pressing the reset button. This of course, is covered in the documentation...
Now, how are you going to solve your girlfriend problem? Replacement?

I dropped my XDA IIi and now the power button doesn't work. I've had a look inside and it seems the the bubble switch has fallen off. Is there anything that I can do or is the unit scrap. I bought the phone from ebay, it is three days old but I've removed the O2 lock (using the unlock tool from this site) and the void sticker has been broken.
PLEASE HELP
Does a soft reset turn it on? I suppose you could jumper 2 wires from the on/off and mount a microswitch. If you scap it let me know what you want for it please.
If I remember correctly, there are for identical switches for camera, power, reset and... I forgot. Look at the attached photo - isn't it? If so, drop me a note, I have some new switches in backpack. Or you can order P12280SCT-ND part from DigiKey.
Hi,
Thanks for the replies, with reguard to the soft reset it acts like a hard reset now, reinstalling the software from rom which is a real pain in the ass. I can't believe that dropping the phone (about 3 feet and landing on carpet) could cause half of a switch to fall off.
Sounds like the switch is in the shorted position if a soft reset is acting as hard reset. I think there is a software utility for soft reset which may work.
Do you know how can I put on bootloader mode with the power button destroyed?
I want to upgrade rom to other and I can't...
Thanks,
Roberto
You can do that by copying HimaClearJumpCode executable file which is included on ROM upgrading/flashing software from computer to the device Then running it on your XDA.
Let me know if it does the job.
thanks, I'm going to try.
Hoping you guys can help me out with a problem I've encountered with my cingular 8125 (wizard).
My wizard is brand new, about a week old. No modifications, i.e. box stock. I'm still playing around with it, trying to figure out how everything works. Just out of curiosity I performed a hard reset, to see how that works. And guess what, the thing is not booting up now.
It's stuck in the cingular startup screen with the radio and os/rom info on it. I've tried to perform another hard and soft reset, but it's not working. What do I need to do to resolve this issue? Help!
Thanks in advance!
Take battery out for 2 hours and leave device not plugged in - for good measure take out the minisd card. should boot up then or you will be able to do hard reset.
let us know how you get on
Okay, I'll give that a shot. I was totally like, wtf? Now what did I just do?
Nick
Okay, that didn't work....
Any other ideas out there? I don't see any other way to get this thing working again.
There are some other threads about this issue but with no simple fixes - search 'stuck on boot screen' or 'wont hard reset'
but i think you have a faulty device and quickest thing is to go and exchange it.
Okay, I figured out how to do it. Evidently I didn't press the hard keys in the correct sequence and/or coreect length of time....
Anyways, thanks for the suggestions and help. I'm back to playing with this cool toy some more.
Nick
Hi Folks,
The bottom red/green phone buttons and the ones next to them have suddenly stopped working, together with the top browser and email buttons. The central pad and the side buttons still work fine.
I have tried a soft reset and also pulling out the battery fo a few minutes to no avail.
I think one of the keys may be stuck down as now the backlight also stays on all the time while on battery and it's set to turn off after 10 secs.
I can report the phone as faulty (had it about 60 days) and get a replacement but just wondered 2 things:
1) Anyone else had this (and managed to fix it)?
2) Is there a diagnostics mode I can invoke that will do a manual or automatic button/stuck button test?
Thanks.
I now have this same issue- and after a hard reset am looking to send my device back to HTC... unless anyone else has has this issue and found a solution???
Here's hoping someone has....!
Edit: Looks like this is not so much of an uncommon problem- 3 or 4 other people in this forum have had the same issues. Any solutions anyone?
Update- despite having had no effect with a hard reset, ROM re-install, battery removal etc, my buttons have now suddenly decided to work again (????)
My hypothesis- it's something to do with my 2GB Sandisk card- when I'm using the card, I have occaisonal lockups, programs starting by themselves etc. However, this might be a tenuous link, as the buttons did not come back to life when I removed the card...
I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on the workings of them over the next few days. But if anyone else suffers from this issue, do a hard reset, take your battery out for ~6 hours, and then try again. I can't say it "worked" for me, but that's what I did, and they now work again.
Apologies that I seem to be writing this thread all on my own ;-)
I have had something similar happen. And my keyboard locks up.
Not sure what is causing it, but I am pretty sure it is something I installed that messed with the reg conflicting with something else.
Odd thing on mine is the phone key opens up the cammera... and I can reset it by hitting OK after closing the camera.
But a hard reset solves it so I just have to be methodical to figure out what is causing it.
EDIT: Turned out it was my case causing my problems. To much preasure was being applied to buttons during a soft reset causing all sorts of problems. Sorry I could not help.
Hey there guys, congratulations for the good work.
I bought xda neo from e bay a year ago. Things went good till one day i had to reinstall the Rom. I did it with succes then i tried to install a programm and it asked for reboot. I checked "YES" and it started shutting down. The next thing i remember is waiting for hours to start up but it never did.
It does not boot at all seems like dead.
Battery is working good 'cause i checked it to a friends mobile and I also tried to use his battery to mine but didnt work. Tried to connect it to the pc by the cables but didnt work too.
I heard that there are some pins which can be jumpered in order to connect the mobile cpu direclty with the pc...
Any ideas? I am starting to believe that it wont work again...
Thanks for your time....
keep up the good work!

hard reset
try doing a hard reset, you will lose all information if you havent backed up but atleast your pocket pc will be up and running again
I tried hard reset but it does not respond...
just to make sure before you go trying with pins or something, I take it you have tried to get it to bootloader?
(with a turned off phone, press and hold camera button then insert USB cable)

Yes, I have done that too, but still no response. I was told that the olny way to check it if it is broken is to use the test pins but i still havent found anyone who knows about them ( where they are on the mobo )...
Are you familiar with their place on the mobo???
noone????
I am willing to pay for the info ....i am desperate!!!
heeelp!!!
I m also looking for the same !!
My NEO does not want to start at all...
The repairing guys told me its the problem with the POWER IC.

I also tried the batt sorting and the pins sorting tricks...
but no response.
Now the phone just shows red LED when I put on wall charger and the phone gets xtremly heated

So okay I did a soft-rest on my Charmer today and it didn't wake up again.
No LEDs, nothing on the screen. I don't think the battery was drained and it hasn't been near any water, been dropped or anything like that. If I plug it in it doesn't show it's charging. I've left it plugged in for hours, still nothing. No bootloader, no nothing.
I have realized the hard way how much I rely on it. I now have no music, no satnav, no phone, no diary.
If anyone knows how to revive it, please let me know.
Otherwise I'm off to get another one - maybe a Prophet this time!

Hi Pls buy the prophet which is available and can be serviced in your region.
I have already had a similar problem as of your in my prophet..
The phone just wont power on from standby..I resetted using stylus and from than (almost 3mths now) the prophet has not powered ON at all.
I have already used the wire trick and removing the batt for days and shoring the batt but no help....
VERDICT:buy prophet only which has warranty.
Wire trick?
What on earth is the wire trick?
I'd like to try it - see if I can get the thing to come back to life.
Anyway, now on a prophet - hopefully it wont happen again.
Thanks for replying.
I have a charmer that is dead too.
And It's the second time.
The first time I sent it to the warranty and they fixed it and sent it back.. full operational.
So it has to have some "trick" to revive it.
I still have 1 year os warranty so i'll send it again. But I really would like to know If is there any information to dismantle it or something like to unlock some mobiles you have to wire it in a special way to surpass some detection chip or something.
MDA Compact 2 dead, please help me moderator...
Hi, I have serious problem, and donĀ“t know what to do. I flashed my MDA with WM6. It worked for 3 days. When I switched it off, and later on, I could only see booting itself, and then frozen picture of T-Mobile. I read about hard reset, which I did and after all process finished with "Format is failed". What can I do? Is there anything I can do? Thx
