It's definaltely the case now. Every time I am trying SPB PLus it turns my IMATE to zombi. Only hardreset wakes it up. Strange enough, firend of mine also with Imate has no problems with it. His unit is older that mine, same latest ROM, 1.72, but 1.60 bootloader, mine is 1.66
Had similar issues, Try turning off the extra features like automatic backup, and "shut down all processes". I know those are nice features, but once I turned them off the problem went away. (limits the beauty of the software, but still the backups are ton's quicker/smaller than xbackup)
Is this feature inside SPB Pocket Plus? Because I also had the same problem when I installed this.
Try old version of SPB PocketPlus, version 1.1 works without crashes and even repeating alarms cause no problems. I use this version:
http://mamaich.kasone.com/rover/PocketPlus_s1.zip
Search on russian or china forums for a valid s/n, as serials from 2.x are not working.

EVERYTIME I install something from SPB, I have had random problems..
a) XDA doesnt power up
b) XDA has to be reset.
Now, for over a month, I have not installed ANY SPB stuff.. and everything is smooth as whiskey!
</vent>
*whew* that felt good!
Strange I had never have that kind of problems and I have a lot of Spb softwares installed....
Interesting, I've never had any problems and I use THREE SPB software products.
:?:
SBP Products
I was using Pocket Plus.. w/ 1.72 Rom. And my PPC wouldn't power up and i had to pull the battery and do a hard reset. I haven't added any SBP Products and I haven't had any problems. Weather or not it's related, I won't know unless my PPC locks up again without SBP Products installed.
So I guess I'm the 2nd person that thinks that SBP is causing problems. Could be with my 1.72 rom version.
Personally I've had two Sudden Death Syndrome situations on my system (in about 2-3 months), requiring a hard reset, the first running Battery Pack Pro, then second when running PocketPlus 2.0.
I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with either SBP (PocketPlus) or Omega-1 (BatteryPack).
Phil
i havent had any issues since i removed that plus version before the new v2
i too had issues with it not wanted to turn on and i had to do a hardreset
Same for me went from Imate 1.52 ROM to 1.72 and it locked up on me. Would not turn on, hard reset. I did not put back on SPB plus 2.0 and I have had no problems at all. VERY stable, VERY fast.
Don't know but Im not putting SPB plus back on. Think their software does not like the microsoft service packs that were in 1.66 and 1.72
weird mine seems to be running fine on imate 1.72 rom :\
I don't think spb software stinks, I actually think most of it is pretty great. However I did email them about sudden hard reset syndome and PocketPlus 2, and they acknowledged there is a problem with some XDA IIs.
"This is a known bug that may occur on some XDA2 devices. We are working hard
to fix it in the next versions of Pocket Plus.
Feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.

As others have said - SPB Pocket Plus ver. 2 is working perfectly on my i-mate 1.72. I wouldn't be without it!
Pocket Plus 2.0 is prolly the best util i've ever found for my PPC
Not had any problems YET (hope i dont)
I had the same problem with Sprite backup but found a fix for it. Disable the option (stop processes when backing up) found in the backup settings and hopefully your device will not hangup.
I had a Hard Reset suddenly on my Qtec 2020(FW:1.66WWE)
It was Spb Pocket Plus.
Hard Reset
Okay.. I haven't ran any SBP software since my last Hard Reset crash. My PPC just crashed hard today.. Three hard resets in a row!! I'm thinking it's this Beta 172 rom from T-Mobile. :: sigh :: I'm going to downgrade and start using SBP again
I asked Spb if 2.1 has the XDA II fix and they said it did not.
I have been using SPB Pocket Plus, Full Screen Keyboard, GPRS Monitor, since my Xda I, and now on my Xda II with the addition of SPB Time, and I've never encountered any problems with my device that were related or caused by the SPB software. I also use Sprite Backup and dont have problems with it working with my SPB software either, in fact I have tons of other software installed too, and I've never had any problems with the SPB working with them too.
These softwares from SPB are among the most useful and have the highest priority in my software list for my device whenever I reinstall.
I've also tried running it with different ROMs for my Xda I, and the old O2 Xda II ROM asian ROM, and now with the O2 Xda II 1.60 asian ROM.
Not sure why you guys are having errors, maybe its the ROM version you are using, or maybe confict with some other software installed on your device.
I'm not defending SPB or anything, I'm Just sharing my experience.
The problem seems to be with the 1.66 and newer ROMs and only happens on the XDA II, not the original XDA. Spb confirms the problem, so that's why some of us are having problems- it is a real bug. I too love their products, but those are the facts. I hope a new version with the fix comes out soon!
On the Official XDA website, I noticed today that it states, that spb Pocket Plus is not compatably with XDA II.
"SpB Pocket Plus
For xda only, not compatible with Xda II. "
http://www.myxda.com/web/template/Shop.vm/category/Software
Its not clear if it refers to the latest version.
Although I have been running it on mine for long time, with no sudden hard resets (just multiple daily soft resets when it freezes - Rom 1.66).
no problems here either!!
i have lots of SPB software with NO problems whatsoever...
I think that this page on myxda.com is completely out of date. They wrote the same thing for Pocket Slideshow (which is wrong, of course)
I have a 850 I-mate JAM, and I installed the newest ROM. It was fine for like 2 days, and then every couple of days it would automatically reboot itself, wiping everything (except for me SD card) clean, and starting back up again from the beginning where you align the screen. I thought it was the newest ROM, so I download the orginal one and reinstalled it. Well it happened again, with the original ROM and its really annoying. It didn't start doing this until I installed the 1.11 ROM, but I reinstalled the old ROM and it still did it. Does anyone know a fix for this, or has this happened to anyone. I've only owned this thing for like 2 1/2 months.
I have a JAM850, running the latest 1.11 ROM and haven't found any issues yet. I'm running the following Today-Screen plugins: SPB PocketPlus, JournalBar, Rhinostat, SBSH Pocket Breeze, Pocket Syswatch.
I've heard of some hard reset issues involving Wisbar Advanced.
Are you running any special Today Screen apps?
Just SPB Pocket Plus (the latest version). Maybe it was just a small glitch, I'll play with it a little while longer to see if it happens again.
ok my problem is at least 3x a day my mda would shut off completely and the power button won't turn it back on. the screen just stays black until I soft reset it with the stylus or take out the battery. this happened more often since I installed the new Mr clean aku 2.3 rom. anyone have any idea why this happens or is anyone having this problem?
What 3rd party software do you have installed?
lets see. I have:
sbp plus
spb backup
sbp weather
sbp finance
mortplayer
omapclock ( running at 228)
memmaid
xnpocketview.
the thing is when I had these on the 2.17 rom it was all fine. it is just recently its happening. I really like the new rom for many different reasons. this is my only gripe. that and sometimes my keys stop working
anyone??
So did anyone manage to identify the source of the problem?
Is it a hardware issue (with some coax cable as stated in another thread/forum)? Or ROM issue (but not me, because I haven't touched the ROM yet, but still had the same random shutdown)? Or is it just an old battery issue (since it's more than 1/2 year old now).
Cheers
I would give hard reset a try. I had random reset because of this one app I installed on it.
Wich one app?
I would like to install Spb Pocket Plus on my TyTN but I heard from some users that they had experienced some major problems with TyTN. Anybody had experiences with Spb Pocket Plus on TyTN? Thanks.
Works great on my TyTN.
I have a Dopd 838 Pro and spbservices.exe does not automatically start when I reset. I need to start is manually. This is the SPB process that provideds addtional features such as Battery Level at the top of the screen and Close Button options. Once I execute this file everything works fine.
Anyhow have this problem and know how to correct it?
Thanks.
unfortunately had to uninstall from mine...
Unit was getting freeze all the time and i had to do to much soft resets (over 10 a day)
As soon as it was uninstalled - started working OK.
I would love to put it back.... but........
I have no problems with it all... it does warn you during the install to make sure to use Main Memory (and not a storage card). Could this be your issue?
I had to upgrade to 3.0 from 2.5, but it works fine!
Not sure if its a problem from SBP pocket plus but once I have had it installed on my hermes (orange spvm3100) and after a few days of use the today plugin flashes on and off (the entire pocket plus today plugin disappears and reapears) constantly.....then the phone function stops working, only way to resolve is through a master reset!
The pocket plus I installed I used the same cab file on my MDA vario and that works fine so Im guessing its either a pocket plus wm5 glitch or something with the phone.....not sure which though!
Once hard reset the phone works fine again with no problems. Do spb do a wm5 version of pocket plus?
cheers
gurry
forgot to add: I'm on v3.1.2 build 5372 installed to main memory.
I'm using Plus 3.1.2 and I have no problms mentioned above. Just small thing. When I execute some link using action button (i.e. rotate screen) hw direction keys stop working under Plus until I use touch screen. When I use touh scren for executing, everything works fine. However, I can live with it
I actually have it running on my SD card and it seems to be working fine. It is okay for 2 days now. However, I had a lot of problems with PocketBreeze and after uninstall that software everything is back to normal. My phone froze 5 times in one day of using PocketBreeze.
With my jasjam i have no problems' its wors smoothly
ori
Ver 3.1.2 works like a charm here too. No probs at all.
Cheers,

Works find NOW
I had problems with all SPB softwares and after reinstalling them on the main memory and not on the micro-sd everything works great.
I am not sure if the problem come from spb Pocket+ (3.0) but after the installation my TyTN (french) worked fine ... until I soft reset.
Then the device refused to start and I was force to hard reset...
It happen twice and I don't feel a third test...
Imer
I've got 3.1.2 and spb diary 2.0.2 installed to main memory and they work very very well no slowdowns at all and I would highly recommend them
Jeremy
I had this running fine on Tytn for 3 weeks or so, but its running off the main memory.
Finaly I upgrade with the version 3.1.2 and all is working fine
I have a Dopd 838 Pro and spbservices.exe does not automatically start when I reset. I need to start is manually.

Problem solved. I did a hard reset, since I needed to clear out some other programs. Loaded Pocket Plus on my memory card and now everything works great. No problems at all on my Dodod 838 Pro.
I run v.3 on my TyTN and everything is OK. I recommend it.

is your tytn branded or unbranded?
Hi there,
I'm new to this forum - and new to the whole Windows Mobile idea as I'm normally an avid Apple fan but I do make an exception when it comes to the phone as the iPhone (as of yet) is quite 'useless' when it comes functionality and flexibility compared to a Windows Mobile device.
In either case, I've recently flashed my MDA Vario II and, after having used Black Satin for a day or two, put on Schap's 3.60a WM6 ROM. The only reason i did not like Satin was that it combined the inbox/outbox for MMS and SMS messages (knowing my luck I'm sure there would have been an easy way around that).
Right, ever since I put on the WM6 ROM and installed a few other applications, such as Spb's Mobile Shell, Spb Weather, etc etc the phone seems to be incredibly sluggish and slow. I did a full re-set and then installed one application at a time to see if it has something to do with a particular bit of software. But I don't think that's the case as the phone acts pretty slow even with nothing installed after the hard re-set. But now, after a few days, it takes, for example, around 15seconds to show the Windows directory using either File Explorer or Resco's explorer. The start-up progress, especially the transition from the Splash Screen to the standard Home Screen is incredibly slow and happens in stages. It then takes about another 30 seconds for the keypad to come up, asking for my PIN.
I've been running all sorts of utilities such as MemMaid, PocketMechanic and SKTools to make sure that the device is in 'mint' condition but, if at all, this made little change to the overall speed.
I expected the phone to run slightly slower under WM6 compared to WM5 as, strictly speaking, the TyTN, as I understand it, was not designed with WM6 in mind - which may be the reason why a lot of providers here in the UK do not offer a WM6 upgrade. However, the phone has become uncomfortably slow and sluggish so is there any way to speed it up or is this a known issue with WM6 on the TyTN?
Also, not sure this is the right forum for this but I also tried to set up Direct Push and it works fine - only problem I have is that it does not seem to support WiFi (it does when I check manually but as soon as I utilise the Direct Push function, the phone insists to connect to the 3G network). Now this is not necessarily a big problem as I've got an unlimited data plan but when at home I am using WiFi and there is little point in having both switched on, WiFi and the Data Connection as that does drain the battery. Again, any ideas to solve this would be appreciated
Thank you guys
Hello mate,
Not sure why you are having the problems you are having. Anyway I run Schaps on my Tytn (see my sig), together with SPB products without any problems at all. The whole lot is rock solid.
My suggestion would be that you re-flash your device with the combination of ROM and Radio that I use, given I have confirmed no issues. If that works then you have at least proved your device is ok. If it doesn't work then your problem lies elsewhere, probably with the device.
Strong advice - make absolutely sure you have done all the things and taken all the precautions outlined in Mr Vanx's excellent guides (see here http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/)
I will track this thread to see how you get on.
Cheers
WB
Hello there...
How was your device under Satin? I am running Satin on an 8525, and it runs ok. Black Satin is also a WM6 rom. I am running HTC home, pocket breeze and iLauncher. SPB tends to let it slower, but not that slow for sure.
I suggest you read through the specific thread of Schaps 3.60. I am not sure, but i once read a few posts, and if i recall correctly, there were some problems with the version. Either that or 3.57... don't know for sure.
I also suggest re-flashing with a different rom. Or, read through the Satin thread here at XDA-devs or at 4winmobile, and there might be a fix for the mms/sms thingy. Then go back to Satin. There is also the Black X going on, but I think it is still beta...
Just don't forget to follow Mr. Vanx precautions, specially installing HardSPL v7, if you don't want a bricked device.
Let us know how it goes
Hey there,
Thanx for replying. I have been thinking about re-flashing the ROM but to see if that helps. I have been playing with the phone a lot so I may have somehow done something which I shouldn't have - whatever that may be :S
Can I ask ... in your sig you state that the 1.50 Radio is very buggy - what are the issues with it, cos I am using that one and was wondering if that could possibly be related to it?
Thanx for the replies guys. I've decided to re-flash the ROM and, it seems to be working fine again. I actually think the phone works slightly faster now as it did under the T-Mobile WM5 ROM. I haven't updated the Radio and stuck to 1.50 as I've read somewhere that it's working fine for the UK (lemme know if I'm wrong - they say there would be a noticable improvement in 3G reception, but I haven't seen that, but I dont seem to have any major issues with 1.50)
So, fingers crossed the phone won't slow down again - which I guess it shouldn't and I'll be careful what I install on it, making sure I have the latest versions of everything.
Thanx again for all your suggestions
Flipside,
Radio 1.50 caused me loads of problems; dropped calls, not being able to make a call for no reason, people not being able to reach me even though the phone was on and in an excellent signal area, having to reboot to get the radio to switch on, etc, etc.
Have not looked back since i went to 1.47. The lesson learnt for me was not to jump at the latest radio rom, just because its the latest. Latest does not necessarily mean best for ones particular circumstances.
Cheers
