software conflict management program - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Is there an app that databases what programs are running when. I had such for my palm that allowed me to find app combinations that didn't work together.

Try MortScript.

J2ME for WM6

Trying to figure out if there was ever a real Java VM developed for WM6. I know my TyTn II has something called Esmertec Jbed but when I try to run a MIDlet it says "the MIDlet could not be instatiated: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError"
Could someone else try this out and see if they have better luck?
http://startofentry.blogdns.org/space/MobileControl/MobileControl+Midlet
Otherwise I'm looking for recoomendations on an application to use my WM6 device as a remote over bluetooth mapped to keystrokes on my vista box.
Thanks,
Devan

1. no BT in any J2ME's, sorry - read my MIDlet Bible.
2. check out my remote Bibles for alternates - for example, http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...s for Windows Mobile - the Definitive Roundup . I recommend for example PPC Tablet Remote Control Suite
Thanks for the write-up really shows a lot of options out there for media control.
I'm trying to use this to control XBMC, which primarily uses just the simple arrow keys. I got really excited by PPC Tablet Remote Control Suite but it seems that the keypresses don't work correctly in XBMC. That is to say that when I test them in another window they work, but then in XBMC I have no luck.
Then I tried jaylee.org’s Bluetooth Remote Control for Windows Mobile but I can't get the WM client to discover the server app.
Really I just need something that allows me to map controls on the display of my phone to keypresses at the PC (like the above programs)
Handy comparison table though.

Lock down the user interface (Windows Mobile 6 Professional)

Hey Guyz,
Long time no see..! I have been assigned to develope a barcode scanning application using .NET Compact Framework 2.0 (I can use 3.5 if necessary).
Right then to the point, I have already developed and finished the barcode application and there came a new demand from the business team who uses the application.
Basically the devices we use are HP iPaq (Windows Mobile 6 Professional) in combination with Grabba barcode scanner. They have requested that the application I wrote starts automatically and covers the entire screen. Now as for covering the entire screen is working fine but I need to do something about starting the application when the device starts up or when a device is put to sleep by clicking the power button and then bring back, the application should start up or show up automatically.
Now I have been researching and exploring a lot of third party applications and one application so far that comes the closest to my needs is the SPB Mobile Shell. It does pretty much what I want apart from locking down all buttons.
Now what I would like to know is, is it even possible to lock down all buttons at all? If not then how would I atleast go about developing an app which behaves like a SPB Mobile Shell? I know that the SPB Mobile Shell is very complicated application but all I want if the behaviour of SPB Mobile Shell's Today screen.
If I need to start by creating my own custom shell then where would I start from?
Regards
I'm not a developer, but hopefully this will help. You would be better off looking at kiosk software such as spb kiosk, whick locks down the whole device apart from programs you specify, ie. your developed app, and any other apps that are used.
This is a virus, not an application.
You use your pocket pc only for barcode reading. Why not use just a reader which costs 10 times less??
And no, SPB is not a complicated application.

Please don't judge me by my post count or the type of question. This is a genuine question.
Tell me what sort of device you think I can use which costs 10 times less.
I need a device with Wi-Fi so users can take it with them while attached to the barcode scanner. Then using the Wi-Fi the application connects and talks a web service running on the intranet server so users from all around the country can manage state of things that are needed to be tracked of their movement.
This was a specific request from the CIO that users are not needed to use any other applications and thus complicate things for themselves. All they want is just to use the application without any special training.
Hope this clears things a little.

Thanks mate
I will pass this down to the chief architect so we can decide if the SPB Kiosk can do of what we need.
Cheers again.
FYI, we are going to try the PocketKiosk Builder
http://www.askarya.com/pocketpc/pocketkiosk/pk.asp
Will see how that goes.
And what about puting a link to your app in the windows\statup folder?

Another idea
Old thread, but...
Why not go for a unit with a built in barcode reader and Wifi/GPRS like the Motorola MC55 / MC75A?
Then you can use the Motorola AppCentre software which allows you to restrict which programs can be launched and presents a really simple interface for the user. I'm pretty sure you can download this software free with the serial number of one of their units.
Users will have no need to hunt for Wifi connectivity as the units have built in connectivity to the Internet. All you need is a low data allowance SIM with voice calls blocked.
The units are more expensive than the HP iPAQ, but they do more as well.
Hopefully someone might find this information useful.

Can't get programs to unistall....

Hello all! Here is my problem: I have SPB Mobile Shell on my HTC Mogul (WM 6.1) and that program is working fine. But I had downloaded a program that had a bunch of different skins for SPB. And I can't get the skins program to unistall entirely. I can't find a trail of the program anywhere on my phone. It's not in the "remove programs" list nor is it anywhere in my file explorer. I've done a soft reset (many times) and even turned the phone off? Any ideas? Because of this program, I can't get any other skins to work. Thanks in advance.
Hopefully this helps
I had similar problems. You need to install MemMaid or SKTools to locate the programs. These programs are more powerful than the file explorer on the phone. Also, I suggest you install resco explorer to find hidden files remaining on your ppc. You can find these programs @ ppcwarez.org

Random Apps Closing?

Is it me or does the T-mobile Dash 3g randomly closes out of apps. I was in my Internet explorer and it juss closed out. It also does this when i recieve messages. Is it my setting or something because i cant uderstand whats doing this.
Mine too
I have the T Mobile Dash 3g unlocked with win 6.5, same thing started happening today...all apps closing after abiyt 10 seconds. Looking for the problem.
closing
this seems to be a win 6.5 issue, and possibly a problem with SPB software.
I foind this thread but there are others too:
I also found a reference to SK Tools which i also have installed. If I cant find a solution soon, I am going to reset the phone and start a clean slate
reset the phone
well i reinstalled win 6.5 and it was not so bad since i was near the beginning anyway and had all programs saved in one spot. I did not install SKTools this time, i did install SPB online, and so far so good, the apps are staying open.
BTW A GREAT free program is SMARTToolKit which will expand your soft keys and give you lots of quick options....works well.
Yup,it's not all apps, just seems to be IE only. And yes it wont stay open like all the other programs when phone goes to standby. Very annoying. FYI, I'm using 6.1
Dash 3G Apps minimizing
There are few threads on this issue. I have narrowed this down to some change in the registry. I will know which part of the reigstry shorty. After running one of many apps (SPB online, SPB radio, Wunder Radio, Pocket Tunes, SK Tools, even the native Bluetooth app) application windows will not stay open and apps minimze on their own after about 10 seconds. If i restore the registry the phone works fine again. Since this problem spans so many different apps and developers, it is a MS problem. MS may say it is the developers problem, either way someone needs to fix it./

Gmail java midlet app on the HD2?

Has anyone got this to work on the HD2?
Of course there are other ways to access Gmail, like the default mail application, and also with any browser.
But the java midlet is nice, very fast, have used it on other phones before, including Windows Mobile.
I installed it on the HD2, using the built-in Sun midlet manager.
It appeared to install fine.
However, when I try to launch it, I invariably get the same error message: "This program requires a working data connection. Please check your signal strength and connections settings and then restart the application".
No matter how good the data connection is, including with Wi-fi, I invariably get that same error message, when I try to launch the Gmail midlet. Anyone know what is causing that?
Has anyone been able to get it working on the HD2?
I've tried several different methods to get gmail applets to work and have been completely unsuccessful on both my HD2 and TP2, I was under the impression that they just don't have a 6.5-compatible version.
it does work, you just need to use esmertec jbed. however I found the fonts are so tiny its really difficult to use.
I end up setting the home page of opera mobile and pie both to m.gmail.com and logged in two of my most used gmail accounts.

I don't think it has anything to do with compatibility with WM 6.5. It has to do with the Java JVM that comes on the phone--from Sun.
As someone else wrote, one can install a different JVM, such as Esmertec JBED.
Surprising though, that Sun, the founder of Java, would not make sure that its mobile JVM is compatible with one of the most popular java phone apps. I wonder if Sun (and HTC) is aware of the problem?
In other respects, this version of the Sun JVM looks nice. For instance, you can choose to install each app to main memory or storage card. Good to have the choice. Also, you can turn off all permission-asking.
I tried Bolt Browser on it, also didn't work. I think it has a network problem.

I guess that's what I was trying to say....after I started using 6.5, I never found a JVM that would work with the Gmail applet I had, that's all.
