Hi
if i use Rom kitchen to upgrade from Pocket PC 2002 SER to wm 2003 Tmobile 4.01.16 would my xda become locked again?
Will I be able to unlock it without a cable?
What if possible would be required to unlock it.

Hi guys!
I'm currently using a Qtek XDA 1010 that's been upgraded already with the XDA Developer's Special Edition ROM. I'm planning to install the Windows Mobile 2003.
Questions:
1) My phone used to be simlocked, but due to the SER now it's openline. If I upgrade to Mobile 2003 will the simlock be active again? Hope not.
2) If I upgrade to Mobile 2003, will it have any negative effects on the radio functions? I've been reading notes that a lot who've upgraded their RSUs totally wrecked their phones.
3) Is it worth the upgrade?
Many thanks! 8)

tried the wm2003 for a day, and had a lot of issues with it... extremely laggy, hard to receive and make calls, call quality is bad (pops), and just plain buggy i suppose. was using 4.00.1 i think... Ali's version. Flashed the SER 1.2 instead! a lot stabler, but darn! so many extra icons?
It says that on the page:
"XDAunlock only works if you upgrade to a ROM which also has the Wireless Modem feature."
4.00.11 ENG WM2003 does not have wireless modem feature
So, how do I unlock "4.00.11 ENG WM2003"?
Thanks,
Izzet
downgrade the s/w to xda developers v1.2
then back up to wm2003
gaz
When I downgrade to XDA Developers v1.2, it will have the XDAUnlock.exe and it will unlock the phone at startup.
When I upgrade to wm2003, wouldn't the unlock gone away?
once unlocked it never needs unlocking again lol however ,mch times you upgrade/downgrade your phone
gaz
thank you
unlocking
OK, so let me make sure I have this straight, so if I had unlocked my sx 56 with the xda-developer's 3.17 special edition rom, then later reimaged my sx 56 to the T-mobile Windows Mobile 2003
4.00.21 rom, my sx 56 will continue to stay unlocked?
Yep,
That is the way it worked for me. Good Luck!

Now I am using the rom 4.00.16 ENG T-Mobile US from the kitchen, then I tried the xdaunlock.exe just to verify that it was indeed still unlocked, but xdaunlock.exe doesn't seem to run under the rom I stated above. Is there any other way to check?
yeah put another network sim in lol simple
Unlocking
OK and thanks for all the great help guys, smashing stuff going on here.
I have upgraded my ATT SiemensSX56 to Pocket PC 2003. Is it still safe to use the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 on this Poocket PC to unlock the SIM?
try the tool at www.xda-developers.com/XDAunlock/ first
XDAunlock
Thanks for the suggestion. That would have been great if it had worked. I tried to run it but it gave me the error “error getting unlock code”. I think that the reason was that don’t have a Qtec 1010 Rom version 3.16.52. My ROM version is A.30.09 ENG. The reason that I put this post out was that I wanted to ask around a little before I ran the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 on my ATT Siemens Pocket PC to see if anybody thought that it might cause any unwanted consequences.
It worked for me
As I just mentioned in some other post, I did just that with Wallaby 5.22. I flashed the AT&T ROM to find out the phone was still locked. I flashed the XDA ROM, unlocked the phone and reflashed the AT&T ROM. I can't guarantee it'll work for you but it certainly did for me.
XDAunlock tool works only with ROMs that has wmodem application (no WM2003 has it). XDA ser v1.2 is a good choice for unlocking, but since you are going to reflash the device then i would recommend TMO 4.01.00 for now coz A30.09 has a very annoying sound issue.

All, first off, much thanks for the help on unlocking my Wallaby. I used XDA Tools and the Special Edition ROM. This is a great site!
I've been searching but cannot find an answer to my question. Is it possible for me to go back to Windows Mobile 2003 after this unlock procedure and still KEEP the unlock?
I ask because even though I like most of the features of XDA build, I don't want ALL of the programs and I like some of the features in WM2003. I separately downloaded the added apps that I want such as the scientific calculator and will load those individually.
Can someone please clarify this for me???
Many thanks in advance!!!!!
You can go to wm2003, the phone will remain unlocked.
back to 2003
this is the 2003 siemens radio and rom upgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=15393

I unlock my siemens sx56 using the special rom after that i use the above link to download the upgrade from siemens and upgrade back to the original windows 2003 and still unlock

Awesome, thanks, I'll try it now!
Hi!
I am new guy here,
and whant to upgrade my O2 XDA to Windows Mopbile 2003 (2003SE).
My phone is runing now XDA rom version 3.17.03
Can you give me advise how to perform safe upgrade
of my originally nonlocked O2?
I have read that some people perfomed upgrade
without errors, but some have trouble to back to 2002 after,
or frozen after boot WM2003.
Its not clear for me and I think for some others here, why
on the same device, different results expected.
merci
