Chopper Alley - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

If anyone with an XDA 2 has recently bought Chopper Alley and can fire the weapons please let me know how. I can navigate the craft but have tried every button my XDA 2 to no joy. I am gutted.
:? [/code]

You need to arm your chopper with appropriate weapons.
Some weapons such as air to ground, or air air must have a lock on before they can be fired. Other weapons such as machine gun and general rockets can be fired at any time.
To fire hit the center of the direction button
To get a lock on you just need to have a target such as a tank or enemy chopper in the center square.
Hope this helps
JustinP

Thanks M8
Cheers Justin, everything sorted. What a cool game.

[IDEA] Diamond Bowling

I was playing Teeter the other day and I thought it would be great if someone could develop a bowling game.
As follows
Simple overhead view of bowling lane
Tilt the device left and right to set the angle it will be launched at
Then tilt the device forward and back to set the power
Then a hard flick forward to bowl the ball
Could anyone do this?
I can`t do this but it sounds like a cool idea, kinda like bowling on wii.
sounds like a good idea! i've got bowling master on my diamond, which is controlled by touch, but using the g sensor would be great!
ummm.. yeh.... fine until ur not holding the Diamond properly when throwing the ball!

put finger on screen to take the bowl, move your arm like "real" and release finger to "send" the ball
Really great idea!!!!!!
I'm not great in design to make this kind of app but if needed I'm not far

Evo survives 70mph slide on interstate

Hey everyone,
This is my first post here. Figured you might enjoy seeing how my dad's new Evo stood up after falling out of his front pocket on the interstate on the way to work. He did have a hard outer case covering the back and the sides. You can see from the pictures where it landed on the one corner and shattered the screen. It does function fully and you would never know that it had been dropped at 70mph and run over by a car if the screen weren't shattered. If you ask me, it held up pretty good.
*** I guess new users aren't able to post links until verified by a moderator but you should be able to figure out how to get these to work.

wow.... how did it fall out again???
cant wait to see the pics
My dad was riding his motorcycle to work and it fell out of his pocket when he hit one of our city's famous bumps in the middle of the highway and it threw the back end of his bike up in the air. He was doing an unintentional endo in the middle of the highway at 70mph.
damn!!! sorry... that is one big bump to force a big phone out of his pocket!..
i hope he has insurance on the phone!
That's the ultimate drop test!
ah, i see it ... dayum! O_O

Pics
I'll try to attach them...
That's awesome though! Not the drop, but that it still works!
Awe man that sux, but I can relate! I had that happen to me once with my Sprint Diamond. On a Vmax and pulling away from an R1 in a red-light to red-light drag, I'm looking in my mirror at the guy on the R1 and notice my phone sliding on the road along side him. The hardest part was to forfeit the race and then turn around to go get it. Glad I did though. The phone suffered only a rash to it's backside. The screen was still perfect.
This Evo is going in an Otter case, as soon as they are released.

One tough Vibrant...one Wife Lives Another Day

So I'm runnin crazy at work, and one of my employees tells me my wife is on the phone for me. I pick up, and she's all frantic and babblin...can't understand her. I get worried, and tell her to slow down and breathe.
"I dropped it in the toilet babe...I'm so sorry!"
"Eh...dropped what in the toilet?" I ask.
"My phone! I was brushing my hair and listening to my voicemails...and it slipped out of my hand...omg omg what do I do!"
So...I pause, and it's my turn to take a deep breath. I'm cursin her out in my mind, for sure...I wanna say: "This is why I get all the cool toys, and you get the hand-me-downs babe!! WTF?!" Instead I get into action-mode.
"Ok...first off open that puppy up, and take out the battery and sim / sd cards. Give it a good shake, get all that water outta there."
"I'm so sorry honey..." Still panicking
"It's all good" I say through clenched teeth
"ok what next?"
I walk her through blotting it dry on the surface...spreading it all out on a towel, then tell her to get her hair dryer out. She goes to town with a no heat setting for about 30 mins...hittin each and every nook and cranny.
"Ok...now go pour some rice on a plate in an even layer, and lay the phone on top of it." I instruct.
"Huh? What-the-hell-you-talkin-about hon?" Her response
"Just trust me on this"
"Ok...I'm really sorry." All timidlike
I get home a few hours later, and touch it all off with a compressed air canister to be sure. Put it together again and press the power button....
And there's that lovely sideways Android Logo. A few reboots later to make sure, all is well.
The wife hugs me in relief and asks...
"Are you still gonna get me the NookColor for Christmas?"
I went outside for a smoke.
lol I find it sweet and i don't know why.
congrats on getting it back
only thing i would have done differently is leave it in the rice for 24-48 hrs. dropped the old mytouch in the toilet and got it back that way.
usually when people cant get it working after water exposure its because they immediately try to turn it back on or with in a couple hrs and end of frying it. seems like you already know this, just throwing it out there for others.
anyway, congrats on keeping it going

So she is terrified of you from the sounds of this.
My wife is in no way afraid of me, but anytime shes dropped an expensive electronic she turns into the battered wife (figuratively, not literally).
Good job saving the day!

LOL nah, she's just dramatic and REALLY loves her Vibrant. Plus, I may have added a little dramatic flair to her dialog for entertainment value.
thanks for sharing! enjoyed reading.. too much drama in the development section..
If I could I would give you a standing ovation. Haha this gave me a good laugh

I needed a good story/laugh. Thanks for sharing and making my day!
This story was absolutely awesome! Thank you for the laugh. So... are you going to get her the Nook Color for Christmas?
LMFAO!!
What a great story. So funny and it so hits home. This is exactly how me and my girl are. Glad to hear everything worked out in the end.

My thoughts exactly...
Not to be a downer, but if it was dropped in toilet water, it will probably start to corrode and die. I would have opened it up, and carefully done a 99% alcohol or methanol rinse. Rinse all the nasty water away, the 99% isopropyl alcohol or methanol will evaporate in seconds without damaging anything, and no corrosion.
You might have things like printed material on chips inside the phone rub off with the methanol, but ahh no biggie.

Disable buttons for kid use?

I am positive that there are others out there that occasionally allow kids to play with their phone. Also, I am positive that I am not the only dad who has kids that like to touch the buttons.
I have toddler lock which is OK, but I would like to show my youngest 19mos a cartoon, but I want to try and disable the buttons or screen, so she doesn't turn it off or mess it up?
Any thoughts, other than shock therapy every time she presses the home key? Maybe an app (like toddler lock) that has a pattern to turn the buttons back on? Maybe like toddler lock except have whatever is running on the droid be the background?
Thank you in advance!
Are you talking about hard or soft keys?
I know that for touchscreens,(not sure which OS), there's an app. My buddy has this app that displays colors for his daughter to play with and when she touches it, it shows stars and such. If I can dig anything up, i'll reply back. I'll shoot him a text, too.
Do you want to disable the touchscreen or the four buttons on the bottom?
Just disable kids.
Why not actually play with your kids instead of stuffing some electronic device in their face to give you more 'me' time?

Ugh, do you have kids? The phone is a great tool for times when you have a little one at a restaurant and they're not happy about sitting there. I honestly don't know why people even feel the need to post crap like this.
And the app that locks the phone down is called Toddler Lock.
I'm interesting in an app that will lock the touchscreen down for movies. My little ones love watching them at restaurants or the grocery store, but they accidentally touch the screen and it pauses the movie or stops it all together.

Wow that was helpful. No advice but you did manage to slam his/her parenting ability with nothing to base it on.
To the OP - I don't know of any apps to lock the buttons, but I found that many of the "finger painting" apps go to full screen so the kids can draw with it without getting lost.

Yeah, I do, and that's why I said you should actually play with them in lieu of handing them the phone.

Didn't 'slam' anyone's parenting abilities. I offered a suggestion.
You don't give a kid a gun and then post a message saying 'any device that will keep the gun from going off while the kids play with it?'.

Seriously? You're equating a child watching a cartoon on a phone to giving a gun to a child??
Why don't you do your trolling over at reddit. You'll get more mileage there.

Two things kids shouldn't be messing with, your phone or your gun, not a stretch.

Tablet injuries

Anyone else had some stresses and strains from holding/using their tabs? My left wrist is hurting right now from holding the tab too long playing some game. I've also had pain in my right palm from using my right thumb too much/too hard playing some game frantically.
