Put To The Test! - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

For those who love accidental recordings on the XDA II...
The wife accidentally hit the record button without realizing it. At the end of about 45 minutes, 2 sound files about 65MB at the 22,050Hz 8-bit (43kbps) level were created till the battery hit 20%, and the recorder went 'beep, beep, beep'.
It hung, and a soft reset had to be performed. And booting slowed to a crawl...taking about 5 minutes for the Today screen to appear.
It was not until those 2 files were deleted and another soft reset done that operations resume normally!

Please Help!!!!

Ive had this tmobile mda for about a year and it was telling me that its memory was dangerously low or something. so i told it to clear all text messages cause there was like 5000. i figured it would take a half a day or so and i just left it. after a day it was still lagging and pretty much not responding or answering calls or texts or anything so i pulled out the battery to reset it. when i put the battery back in every soft key short cut button i pushed resulted in error message saying, error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename. when i enter the start menu everything is gone except for 'today', 'calupd', and 'coldinit'. all of these are dead shortcuts. its like all the memory of the phone (pocket windows) is gone. how do i go about trying to fix it. i can 'explore' on microsoft activesync, but it tells me when i tried to upgrade the software, that it is not connected.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Press and hold Comm + Voice button and press the reset little switch. The screen will go black and then it will ask you to format your device. Press the call button. That should make it work again

cprog.exe question

I've been playing with adctaskman to see where all the memory is going. I noticed that cprog.exe (phone app) stays resident after the phone is used and gradually creeps up to occupy 3-5mb. The program doesn't load until the phone is first used from a reset, but won't quit after that. I tried to close the process with no success. I then killed the process. The phone still starts at the press of the phone button and is able to receive calls and killing cprog doesn't seem to have any other downside. Why does this process stay resident? Am I missing some bad effect from shutting it down? If there isn't a big downside from shutting it down, is there a way to get it to close other than killing the process so that I can reclaim that 3-5mb?
I think when it's not running, it takes an extra 3-5 seconds before the phone will acknowledge a call it has to load, so by having it resident, the phone will ring faster and you are less likely to miss a call. Tho this is just a guess, but I do know the first call I get, the backlight lights up and it may be 3-5 seconds before the call notification screen opens up.
So yes, you can close it, but you will get less time once the phone starts ringing before they get kicked to voice mail.

Removed TF3D no MP4 playback

Ok well I have to confess Im a newbie with this, my 1st windows mobile phone.
So I installed TF3D then I had no MP4 playback so I removed it and now on my today screen there is nothing and also I still can't play MP4's
Please someone help me, is there a factory reset or something I just want it back to how it was when I took it out of the box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance
To get it back to factory defaults, you have to perform a hard-reset. This is an easy operation.
1) Turn off your unit
2) Hold the two (silver) buttons below the screen
3) Turn on the unit while holding the buttons
4) Follow on-screen instructions
5) It's done!
TF3D installs so much crap, it's better not to install it if you intend to uninstall it again. Just leaves too much behind.
install advanced config
choose more options out of the menu
edit file type extension
search fpr mp4
change it to "WMPlayer.exe"
problem solved. not sure if it works as workarround for tf3d too.
So I did factory reset and got everything back, but one minor poblem.
When I answer a call my phone goes into sleep mode in 10 seconds but I'm still on the call and when i goto into settings and power and over to advance and set back light to turn off in 1 min and phone turns off in 2 mins it doesnt keep the phone on. I found out when I get short calls and lok at my screen after 5 secs and its off already. But my phone is set to sleep in 2 mins and backlight off in 1 min. Is there something else that needs to be done?
So my problem is when on a call i goto start-settings-system-power-advanced its says backlight is set to 10 seconds so ill change itto 1 min but when i hang up and call again it reverts back to 10 seconds so evverytime i change it its only applies the change for that one call. So is there anyway of fixing this?
Another update about my problem, while usig all other phone functions backlight shuts off at 1 min as programed, but on call it still goes into sleep mode in 10 seconds. So I tried staying on a call with my bluetooth headset and surf the net and problem still exists while on call... there must be a fix to this...someone pls help I have tried hard resetting to factory settings twice to no avail.
I think there is automatic screen turn off while on the call.
Yes your right, but mine is stuck at 10 seconds and when i click on the battery icon and click on advanced its set to 10 seconds so i change it to 1 min then make a phone call and it reverts back to 10 seconds by itself. Im trying to find a way to keep it at 1 min. Anyone have an answer for me?
Called Sony Ericsson support and their phones are going into sleep mode after 10 seconds too, so its not just my phone and asked them to put in a trouble ticket to be fixed for next firmware upgrade.

Faulty HD2

my Hd2 recently broke, it had a lot of things wrong with it.. 7 in total if you interested you can read the faults bottom of the post, im interest to know if anyone else had the same problems as me.
i sent it off for repair. all is ok now but on the cover letter they sent back with the phone they said the fault was "program abnormal excecution/ termination (error message pop up or etc.."" repair was "Replace main board" however i know i had a scratch on the back of the phone that is no longer there (there is also no dust etc in the bottom buttons or the top speaker), does that mean they replaced the whole device?
thanks
1) Whilst texting- The keypad is generally glitchy.
- When pushing the delete button other buttons are triggered too such as the B & M keys.
- The directional arrows do not work.
- Even though XT9 predictive text is selected it doesn’t always work.
- it takes numerous taps on the screen to start the write reply feature.
I have tried calibrating the screen and aligning it, this was unsuccessful.
2) The home button below the screen has stopped working.
3) The camera has suddenly developed an intermittent red tint, sometimes the camera will be fine other times it is not.
4) When trying to launch the camera/ video camera it sometimes says error unable to to connect. I have to switch the device off to fix this, sometimes it takes 3 attempts.
5) The phone can only be set to vibrate.
6) When pressing the phone down key to get the lock screen to appear it sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to appear.
7) The battery life appears to be getting shorter after every charge, for eg. It finished fully charging at 1am, i then left the phone in standby mode (no programs running) and by 8am when i woke the battery was a 40%

my hd2 oso face the battery problem....

After taking the phone out of standby, screen becomes unresponsive.

This happens often, but not every time.
I press the power button to put the phone into standby.
I press it again to take it out, the screen turns on, I try to press the unlock jog or any of the buttons along the bottom - nothing.
I noticed sometimes if I'm quick, it begins to animate the jog, or I get a vibration from a button along the bottom, but then it goes unresponsive.
Putting it back in/out of standby fixes it most every time.
Any ideas?
I have this same problem. Usually worse the longer it was in standby. Helps somewhat to reset the phone once a day, and also use a task killer program to kill apps you arent using.
I ended up taking the phone back to the store and they replaced it with a brand new one. The new one works flawlessly. Also, my wifes had been working since we got them saturday without issue too.

Seems to happen to me sometimes right in the morning when I take it out of the charger... a bit annoying but nothing too serious
