hi
i have i-mate ( XDA II ) work only on charger , battry is ok , i tested it on other devices
it work for not more than 1 min and restart again to the startup screen that apper after reset the device to its original state.
i tried flash it and flashing finish ok , upgrading main , extended rom and radio stack but the same problem exist
anyone know what is that please !!!!
Are you sure you are sliding the little red slide/switch inside the battery compartment back into place when you change the battery? This slide switches between backup battery and main battery. It sounds to me like you are running for about 1 min. on the backup battery, then it drains and your device resets.
Is the red switch correctly moved toward the battery?
If so, try jiggling that switch to see if maybe it is not making good contact.
HTH!
thanks for replay
the sw is ok coz if i set it to unlock possion mobile not power on and the red light on
but if i put the battry and lock the key it work in the charger not more than 1 min at all and restart again .
i upgraded its sw and it finish without any problem but still the same
please help
If your imate is not new, try to clean the battery contacts with soft tissue and may be some alcohol, may be there is some grease. Also check for the
status of contact pins.
Also, as u tried the battery with other imate, what about urs with the other battery???
this happened to me
if you got it wet or damp
my xda2 got wet and this happened to me i found if i left it to dry out i took the xda2 apart used a soft tooth brush on the motherboard put it back together and hey presto it worked and didnt hard reset

Warning! Your Xda II can be hard reset after change battery
I experience hard reset after change battery twice, and also our member of www.pdamobiz.com were complain about Xda II can be hard reset so easy. Even change battery in 1-2 mins. So upset!
Fininally I can find the root cause, that's battery cover in the back.
So, today I take the photos to show that is the real cause. Anyone would like to try, don't forget to backup.
......
Any time that you want to change battery, of course you have to open the battery cover in the back. Then after take out the battery, just put the cover on the back. See picture:
Aha! do you know, the cover is metal, and electricity can passthrough it as same as electric wire. Battery backup of Xda II is also only like Big Capacitor, it's pole are still connect to the contacts.
If unfortunatly, the cover move down forward to the contact as picture.
See at Red Circle. Battery backup will discharge through the metal cover immediately. You just know nothing but after insert new battery you will find new screnn as:
Hard Reset!
So, if you don't want to be as this, do not put the cover or anything that conduct electricity over the back of XdaII while no batterty.
So this is only likely to happen if you short out the contacts 'cause you don't put a battery in when you close the lid!
To be honest that's not something I'd do anyway. Interesting, but not really suprising that this could happen. I guess that you, in effect, short out the internal battery.
like the rest of the xda casing the backpanel is not metal but
painted plastic
and even if it were metal then it would be alu which is a pretty lausy conductor
I didn't believe it but he is correct - I just tried it out myself!
The paint used on the plastic does actually conduct electricity (I know it's a different device but hold an XDAI while charging and then lightly touch a second charging unit and you'll get a slight shock!!)
Still it's probably not a problem for most people because most people only remove the battery to change the SIM card or replace the battery and as such wouldn't ever touch the connectors with the case!
It is not painting, it is a metallic film, it is possibly chromium.
hi all ,
the reason why your XDA is loosing all data when you put the battery cover back without the battery is because the cover pushes the red switch !!!
this is the backup battery switch so you are pushing it to off position ! so there will be no power to support the ROM .
XDA is designed in way that when you want to remove your battery you have to unlock the red switch which is the backup battery switch so you will turn it on to support the ROM.
when you take your battery you are not supposed to turn the switch off before you put the main battery back,so when you are placing the back cover there is no way to fit it in place if the switch in the on position so it is pushing on it back to the off position leaving the ROM without power.
Regards.
Hard reset when changing battery... there is more to it
Hi all!
I have read with a lot of interest all the couses you described for hard reset while changing battery, but there must be some more.
When I change batter I pay attention to:
1) the lid
2) the red switch position
They are fine, but still the machine hard reset... I believe the problem might be due to the fact that sometimes after a battery change the XDA does not feel the new battery after I switch the red switch back so it doesn't turn on I loose all the memory... any idea on how to avoid it or be sure that the XDA has good contact with the battery before switching the red and crossing fingers...
had a hard reset too
I had a battery-change hard reset too recently.
I'm 99% sure I didn't screw up on the lid or the red switch.
Scarry. I lost two weeks of stuff that wasn't fully backed up.
I change batteries on a regular basis...
Scarry is a lot of people don't bother to make a backup...
I could care less about a hard reset, i just restore my backup from SD-card and sync.
Jpiek,
for me hard reset is still a pain becouse afterwards due to a change in the datestamp the PPC duplicates or deletes contacts in the PPC... so I need to manage the post-back-up sinc and that takes around one hour... are your backups more convenient? What software do you use?
Thanks,
Chris
I just backup useing the standard Xbackup, then re-sync with my up-to-date Outlook on my PC...
Works just fine for me...
Is anything new about this problem of Hardreset?
Hi all :
Just a little question, ammar :
If actually the red switch connects the backup battery, what happens when the standard battery is gone ? How do the backup battery gets active if we don't act the red switch ??
Thanks
After a week since I've upgraded from 1.66 to 1.72, my Qtek2020 is dead
I was playin with XBox and my Qtek was chargin on cradle
after a while It reset one, two, three, four times !!!
I put It out from Cradle but It continue to reset continuosly
I try to reset, hard reset, nothin to do
After 2-3 minutes It turns on magically...It seems ok, but while
It was Restoring Backup Data It restart to Reset Continuosly, but now

damn
Qteknology
Have you removed battery. :?: What color light if any is illuminated when in charger. Also check the switch that locks the battery into place at base of battery.
U already know my problem, cruisin u're great
My battery charge was RED :?
I changed battery and Cradle at shop were I bought it last week,
now it's all OK
but, how hell it depends ? battery sucks ? or something else ?
It LIVES AGAIN
Batteries do fail sometimes, most modern batteries have a chip onboard and this sometimes burns out too. Just bad luck I think.
but how do u know about Red Colour of Charge ?
Have u some experience about it ? Have u read somewhere ?
just curious what should i do about it. everytime i swap battery, my clock resets.
where's the backup battery
There is no backup Battery...
I already faced that problem alot of times...
And I found out That there is no backup Battery for this Phone...
i am sure it's an internal battery. I am thinking of pulling my rw6828 apart.
i know there is cuz i remember when i first got it, it remembered the time.
ok. i pulled apart my rw6828.
there's a small battery soldiered onto the PCB.
i guess i just have to replace that.
it's a REALLY small battery.
4.5mm diameter
1mm thickness
ok the original battery is SR416.
but i replaced it with a much bigger battery.
i replaced it with SR616
both battery is micro silver oxide
i assume you have succeed .Have u solder the new battery ? i think all htc/quanta devices have backup battery .My old spv c550 ,and spv m600 have one both dead .I have spare battery but don't like setup clock every time i remove battery. Is there any way to software shut down the phone ( like in very low battery state) ?
thx in advance
nicefile
well you can always install an app called synctimedate
it uses GPRS to connect to internet and sync the time to the server
hi all, pls anyone knows how can i solve the issue of red led and not power up? i tried to connect first the charger and later put the batt and nothing, the fuzes are good, the batt its ok, i tried the instructions of mike channon and other topics and nothing again... i apreciate the schematics of this model, thks for your time.
I had a red LED on my device ones, that happened when my battery got flat drain. Maybe you can try charging it for an hour or more. Then try it again..
thks for your reply, i tried to charge for > 1 hr. wkth two batt. and nothing, i thing the failure is a component defect. for this i need the service manual for MB repair or schematics for make a plain of conections for determinate the issue.
Just in case... certain non-original batteries seem to have one of their sides made from metal or other conductive material. When such a side touches the metallic frame of the battery holder, here you go - the red light goes on and the phone won't boot up/charge.
I had to put a properly sized piece of paper between the battery and the frame on my Hermes to make it work with such a battery.
i am haveing the same problem but i have a factory battery ,i try changing battery ,maybe this may help it accour when i connected to my laptop to charging it ,it was working find then five mins befor then red light , and not powering back on need help plz
i had this problem for about 3 to 4 weeks nowi try everything different oem batterys , try car chargers , laptop usb charger , dest top charger usb , while chouching on another forum some1 say try rapidly placeing and removing a battery , i try it about 30 times and it worked!
THE RAPID REMOVAL/REINSTALLATION OF THE BATTERY WORKED!!!
Hi ! I have a big problem with my Motorola Defy ! When I shake it , it turns off ! If it is pluged it has no problem and I can shake it whithout problems but when i unplug it the shutdown problem reoccurs ! I tried putting folded papers to hold the battery steady but it doesen't turns on even when pluged ! Although I managed to put a small piece of paper between the battery and the sim card and i can shake it whitout problems but with the protection case off ! When I try to put the case back the phone shuts down ! I managed to realize that the problem occurs when the battery is pressed ! What can I do ! Please help ! Do you think a new battery should do the trick ? Sorry for the bad English !
Looks like the battery placement (the space filled with the battery) is damaged. Check out all the plastic area that folds the battery.
There are two small plastic things near the battery contacts of the phone that holds securetly the battery in the place. If one of them is broken the battery is not stable inside the phone and can disconnect when you move.
I attached some pictures of my DEFY+ of this area.
