I downloaded the X-Lite softphone for Pocket PCs; set it up on my XDA II and configured it to use the FWD SIP service (www.fwd.pulver.com), in order to make XDA-PC and XDA-Phone calls over IP. When connected via GPRS, the X Lite logs in to the service just fine, however due to the limited bandiwdth available, voice quality is very bad. I then connected my XDA to my broadband-equipped PC and used ActiveSync's pass through feature to surf the Internet via the PC on the XDA. Here's the interesting bit: WWW and Email work just fine now, as the XDA is now using a broadband connection, but X Lite on the XDA just does not log in to FWD, despite the fact that I dont have any problems connecting using X Lite on my PC. I just get a "Connection timed out" problem. I tried using both USB and Bluetooth to connect the XDA with my PC but neither of them worked, nor did disabling the firewall on the PC. Any ideas, anyone?
Hi shockwave,
I'm using Skype. It's free and works PERFECT...
buzz
Thanks for your reply. Skype works just fine, but its just that it does not allow one to make IP-PSTN calls, that's why I wanted to configure X-Lite on my XDA.
The next versions of skype should allow it

WWW thru bluetooth
Yes, Bond your XDA to the PC and connect via activesync. Once connected, open the internet browser on the XDA and you can surf the net.
How bout without using activesync, cuz i want to connect to internet via bluetooth secretly without knowing the person using the pc.
ms bluetooth stack dont support it
read here for info about how you can do it

Network via bluetooth
Hi,
I am also trying the same thing. (Connecting without activesync)
Maybe you have to set up a network on bluetooth.
I would also like to print thru blutooth on the XDA2, so it uses the PC's printer on the network.
I am sure it can be done... not sure how
Hi, has anyone been able to get Skype working on there XDA via BT and Activesync. Skype installed without and problems and Activesync and my Internet connection work fine over BT. I can logon to Skype on my XDA and see my contacts etc, but as soon as I try and make a call I get an error saying "no proxies found"
I have stopped firewalls etc on my desktop and checked open ports, I could understand if I couldn't logon to my skype account or browse the web from my XDA but I can do both so am unsure why it fails to find the requred proxy servers?
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying the same thing. Worse I do need to use a university proxy.
I can get skype working on my main PC. Another idea I had was to use the Pocket PC as a 'headset' for my PC. i.e. if someone had a program that would allow me to use my XDA2 (=SPV M2000) as a bluetooth headset type device for my laptop (or other phones for that matter).
It would let me use the phone as a headset for the PC
Dial in through skype on the PC, and walk about talking on my pdaphone.
It's not as good as using skype on the mobile. But still it'd be far better than not being able to do it at all.
I'd be using wifi all over the place if GPRS wasn't constantly trying to connect. Also A WEP cracking program would probibly be a great thing (is it true they've switched to another type of encryption now though?)?
Cheers folks.
Hi,
I'm having issues getting Skype to connect using the WiFi on my TyTn. The wireless connects to my work network and a proxy server is required for web access. I think I have these setting configured correctly because Internet Explorer connects to external web pages. Whenever I try to connect using Skype it throws up an error message stating it can't connect to the Internet, Skype works fine over the 3G. Has anyone managed to get skype working over WiFi on the TyTn and if so what settings did you use.
I use skype over wifi no problems. Check your skype settings to make sure that wifi use is selected.
I, however, do not have a proxy set up on my wireless network so you may need to tweak skype's settings to get it to run correctly.
Using the new BETA version but old one worked just as good.
Sorry if it's of no help to you.
S.K.
Hie there, I was wondering if you could email me your 3 uk settings especially the phone band settings. I used to be able to connect to skype and msn but ever since I temperd with the settings it refuses to connect. It connects onto the 3g network though but some how not msn or skype. They both also connect using wifi. Help please!!!

I have a 3 pay as you go sims, could you please send me the 3 settings.
I dunno if will work with pay and go, but I'm on 3 contract and the setting the access name to 3internet allows me to connect to Skype. The standard Skype program won't allow you to use skype on p2g unless you have the internet add on as it would allow voip calls.
Hiya, bit of a strange one this. I have an iMac at work with built in Bluetooth. What I'd like to do is surf the net on my Xda Trion using a Bluetooth link to my network-connected iMac.
I've tried going into the Xda in System, connections and trying to change the My ISP connection to use Bluetooth, but it doesn't want to accept it. I know the Mac can see my device but as yet whenever I fire up Pocket Internet Explorer it just uses 3G and GPRS to connect; in fact I see no option to surf using a Bluetooth connection.
I suppose in summary then, I want to use my iMac as one big Bluetooth Modem for my Xda. Is this possible and if so what am I doing wrong?
Does anyone know if it is possible (and if so, how?) to connect to a bluetooth PAN from an XDA mini 2?
It is so my girlfriends XDA on o2 could connect to the internet over my Compact 3 T-mobile gprs connection. I can get my laptop to connect over it fine, but can't find a way to get the XDA to connect.
When i try to connect a new modem connection using bluetooth it lists my phone fine, but under services either only "Serial Port" (when I am sharing bluetooth folder) or nothing listed. I would have expected "PAN" to be listed as a service?
Ah well, thanks if anyone can help.
