I just got my Qtek 9100 a few days ago and as everybody else I am experiencing the same malfunctions, bugs etc..
I have a problem with the handsfree/speakerphone in the phone app and I couldn't find anybody else with the same problem.
My MIC seems to be OK as I can use it for recording memos, voice dialing and of course - talking. As soon as I activate the handsfree/speakerphone option the other side can't hear me or hears me broken or just plain hiss noise.
Is my unit defective? I think it sounds as a software problem that might be fixed with an update. Anybody else has heard about this problem somewhere? Anyone has experienced this problem? Should I return my unit?
One more thing, at times there is absolutely no audio coming out of the QTEK but that is fixed after I do a soft reset.
Help!
Speakerphone issue as you described is a known issue, hopefully a upgrade will fix this (fingers crossed)
Psshhheeww... now I am relaxed..
Funny.. when you know a bug exists by other people you feel better..
Anyway, we order two units, both have the same apps installed one has this bug and the other doesn't. Lucky me has the bogus unit... anything I can do about it?
And last question for now, any expected date on a rom/windows update for the Qtek 9100?
Thanks!
hey ari.
i do think it's a hardware problem.
like the good old JAM, who had the same problem with the speaker.
anyway, let's wait , maybe there will be a system update to fix this, but i doubt it, since many units dont have that problem and run the same rom.
Nadavi.
(Yes it's me) 8)
Hey Nadav,
I've been trying to reach you for the past days.. we have a mutual friend we didn't know of.. you know who it is?
Regarding the speaker phone, I was also sure it is a hardware problem, but think of it, the mic works falwless while recording, while talking with the phone in the good ol' regular way and while using the video cam or voice dialing... so, I think there is a chance that it is a software problem. Also, there were a few times that the handsfree/speakerphone DID work but I couldn't figure out how and when...
If it is a hardware problem I need to return the unit asap before I won't be able to do so... but if it is a software problem, I'll wait.
What do you people say/think?
Besides that, give me a call if you can.
Thanks!
Yes, but can we hope for a ROM update by Christmas?!
Hello XDA Team,
Firstly, I want to say a huge thanks to the contributors of this forum as I've silently benefitted from your work over the past year on my previous phone, i900 Omina. Unsurprisingly I'm one of the many people who was tempted by the HD2 as it's effectively everything I always wished the Omnia would be - in principle.
So, I received my HD2 last Tuesday (direct from T-Mobile) and my number was ported from Vodafone on Thursday. After using the phone for a weekend I arranged an exchange as I believed my handset was faulty due to the crackling and resonating sounds from the earpeice. When I searched online I didn't find anyone with a similar complaint so I assumed mine was faulty. The replacement arrived on Tuesday and it's exactly the same, only this time the bottom row of buttons isn't a good a fit as on the first. Small issue that one and not really a deal breaker. A bit more searching and this time round I found the lists of post from people with the same sound quality complaints.
The issues I have with this phone are:
1) The crackling speaker - resonating to people's voices.
2) The SMS functionality, slow loading of messages and formatting bugs with the date stamp for one message overlapping the previous message in a thread, changing text size doesn't apply to every text in a thread.
3) The Contacts app freezes everytime I make a change to a contact, rendering the phone useless for about 30 seconds after each change. This includes when I add someone to the favourites list in Sense.
4)Random slow downs of Sense when hardly anything is running in the background (just Comm Manager)
5) The camera, even with the hotfix still has reddish/pinkish colouring to the middle of the picture
6) videos I recorded with the HD2 won't play on the HD2!!! Eh? What's going on there?????
Now I can accept software issues as I know these will be fixed eventually. My Omnia was a much better phone after a year of owning it than when it was first delivered almost solely down to ROM updates. However I am genuinely concerned that the speaker crackling is a hardware fault and not software, hence never going to improve.
Which brings me to my dilemma. I bought this phone from T-Mobile, which means I have a 7 working day period to return the phone and cancel my contract with no penalty. Today is the last day of that period, so I need to decide today whether to return the phone or to percevere.
I'll add a bit of balance to the dilemma by listing the things I love about the phone, which ultimately are the reasons which I would want to keep it if the issues could be fixed:
1) The screen the screen the screen!!!!!
2) Facebook integration with contacts
3) Great web browsing
4) Good music player & 3.5mm headphone jack
5) 3G, HSDPA and WiFi
6) WinMo so easy to sync with work Outlook and keep my Omnia contacts and SMS history.
7) Slim design, easy to pocket.
There you go, I have until the end of today to make my decision. I honestly don't know what I would replace the HD2 with IF I do decide to return it for good but 18 months if a long time to be using a phone which is supposed to be state of the art but stuggles with some of the fundamental jobs of a mobile phone.
Thanks for your time
DC.
Send it back.
I've had one now for over a month and it's great.
I don't have any of the problems you have.
I did have a slight pink tinge when I focussed at close range on a white sheet. But with the recent hotfix that is much improved. Anyway, I don't often photo white sheets !
I also don't video at all so tried your problem and I can confirm it's super simple to video and then playback (it's offered as an option after the recording is stopped).
I would send it back and ask for a new one and insist on an updated ROM.

Same here. Sounds like you've just been unlucky and got a bad one, like some others have reported on xda.

I agree with sending it back as faulty. Say you want another two weeks (or however long it is) with the new one as this one has been so faulty you need to re-evaulate when you get the new one whether you want it or not.
As for insisting on an updated ROM, don't even think about saying that to your phone provider. None of them have updated ROMs yet, and probably won't for a long time. They're likely to wait until the majority of bugs are ironed out before going through the lengthy process of "updating" a ROM for their customers. Seriously - just ignore that advice. (No offense meant, Cheesy Dave)

Hi
Instead of writing here your complaints you should have read some of the threads explaining your problems. I advice you to backup your data then hard reset your device and reinstall your programs one by one and eliminate the program which is eating your HD2's memory. At least half of your problem will be gone after hard reset.
i am using HD2 for a month now and resolved 90% problems came with it.
Good Luck

None taken !
Probably if you spoke to the local phone rep and said "ROM" they would be most confused !

I'm sure they'd advise you on a massive 32MB ROM SD card that you could put in and store all your music and video on.

Oh I've been reading the threads here non stop and have hard reset the phone three times since receiving it. The only programs I've installed are BSB tweaks and the YouTube app which T-Mobile has removed. Otherwise it's untouched.
My main issue is the crackling speaker, which if you read my post you'd see that I'm happy to wait to sort all the software issues out over time, but hardware issues are different.
My problem is that T-mobile will not do another exchange. They will only give me one chance to exchange then it's either cancel or keep. As I'm on my 2nd handset already, it means I have to make that decision today.
I know some of you hate to see posts from people who are considering ditching their HD2, but that's the reality. We exist. I'm an existing WinMo user too, not even one of the iphone brigade.
I can imagine the issues you're having are annoying and I must admit I've also experienced some of them.
1) Crackling: not a problem for me. I use a bluetooth headset (plus I'm a a bit deaf anyway) so I don't notice any crackling. Have you tried a headset? Any headset? Does it still occur or is the problem only from the external speaker and earpiece? I know others have complained about the volume but thought it was fixed in a newer ROM
2) Messages loading: yes, a real pain. Have you tried the workaround which is to click "Send" as soon as the messages start loading, then click "No" when prompted to send an empty message?
3) Contacts: I haven't had this problem, but then I haven't added users to any groups as they were already set up on my X1.
4) Random Slowdowns: yes, I must admit, this happens to me from time to time. Although you might think that nothing is running there are some processes that aren't visible by default that may be consuming the CPU's time.
I've been using Leo ROMs for quite a while now and if you think it's bad on the HD2 you should've tried it on the X1 to really appreciate the speed and stability of the Leo. OK, perhaps not an acceptable answer for you but some things you just have to put up with and blame not on the phone but the underlying OS (yes, Windows!!)
5) Camera: I've noticed the pink tint too even after installing the hotfix. Annoying, to say the least!
6) Camcorder playback: Works for me!!
The camcorder issue must be 1.43 T-Mob rom related. This new handset has the same problem as the 1st one. It will record video, but won't playback.
I also have annoying freezing when I try to do the simplest of tasks, like emptying the deleted messages folder in the SMS app, to the point where the back cover comes off and the reset button has to be pressed.
BUT, when it works properly I love this phone. I guess if I keep it I'll be flashing new ROMs like there's no tomorrow. Obviously I haven't done that yet as I can't risk breaking the warranty on a phone which I may return.
Get it on O2 and apply the hotfixes... seems to be the better rom
Sod it, I'm keeping the phone. There's nothing else on the market that interests me, and no reason to think that the hardware on the upcoming Nexus will be any better if it's also an HTC handset.
I've got an SD card primed with Goldcard and 1.61.....I'm not gonna take the plunge just yet, but I've read some of the positive feedback on the newer ROMs. Once I've given up on T-Mobile releasing a newer ROM, then I'll get flashing.

Good decision chap. Just take the time to apply the fixes and you should be there.
Cheers
WB
It wouldn't surprise me if HTC haven't already got their sights on another ROM which has all hotfixes plus the one they are working on for the SMS fix that doesn't work, a hotfix to fix a hotfix lol.
Eventually they could even release android for it, why not? the hardware is what is keeping me glued to my phone, its ace. they owe it to us!
If it's O2 then you do get leeway (or used to) with regards to what you report as bugs and what they'll do or at least they used to.
When HTC Universal came out that was riddled with bugs and even the phone app didn't work properly (nearly put me off winmo phones for life, HD2 has been my first since) so anyway I called up after the 7 days said look I love the phone but these bugs are killing me. So they sent me another one which I tried and found the same bugs with, so they let me get a different model instead, and this was WAAAAY outside the usual 7 days because the phone was faulty. The 7 day rule is really there for if you get it and you just don't like it, not because it has issues, if it has issues then different more lenient policies apply.
My suggestion would be do the same tell them about the crackling etc and other bugs and get them to send you another, if it's still got the same issues then you've still got the option to swap.
Also without going into too much detail take your time sending yours back, you might find they'll let you keep hold of it for longer then you'd think
Original, I thought I was left out of the GPS problem with the Samsung Vibrant, thinking it was about when you used GPS ...but with the Navigation
However, today, I was using the Google Search function, or something that simply invoked the GPS, but not fully using the Navigation, then it cut out, and I couldn't see anything for about 30 seconds, then it restarted fine.
THAT, please assure me is the problem that people were originally speaking of
I dont mind being wrong about what I thought it was ORIGINALLY. i.e. navigation being used
But please tell me that what I described is the problem and NOT a more serious problem that is gonna involve me having to get a new phone.
I had the NEXUS and one of the 3 I had turned off two or three times a day. They said it was NOT normal, and then I had to replace it..
I am hoping and leaning to believing that this problem is what you all have described as the original GPS problem cutting off
thanks
The original and core problem with the GPS which still exists is that the GPS cannot lock on to more than one or two satellites even though there are many more in view. The result is inaccurate and inconsistent position information being fed into whatever program uses GPS. People will notice symptoms more with nav apps but it will also affect browser location and google search (with location) as well. So your symptoms may be a result of of the common bad GPS problem. Personally I believe that ALL Vibrants have a faulty GPS as I have tried at least a dozen showing the exact same faulty behavior. The best way to determine if your phone has a buggered GPS is to test it using something like GPS Test and see how many satellites lock VS how many are in view (discovered). A fully functioning GPS will lock on no fewer than six sats with nine to fifteen visible.
Thank You XfooYen...and thanks for being Quick
I do not know how to do the test. Might you be able to and have to time to explain how simply and what I need (via apps etc..)
But bottom line, to hear that it is basically, maybe not fully, partly to do with the GPS makes me feel better.
At least it is not cutting off WHEN i am NOT using the GPS, 3-4 times a day, like my first android phone, Nexus
thx
Does the European Galaxy S have this issue? If so, then I fear that a solution is unlikely to be at hand, given that this version has been out for a while, and would point to a design flaw in the hardware that cannot be fixed with software.
That's the big unknown-is it hardware that's defective, bad firmware in the controller for the GPS chip, or a system software problem?
yeah, no one knows if it's firmware or hardware or both. Only time will tell. We all hope it's just firmware.
To OP, you can find GPS Test in the market. There are many ways to see what your GPS is doing exactly. Rather than me explaining it, I recommend you search youtube for examples of GPS testing in action.
A thing to consider is weather you can return the phone with a full refund. If so, I recommend it. You can then wait until a real fix is pushed out and repurchase when it does.
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA app facing north...no, wait. southwest.
Thank you for pointing out where to find the gps test Next i will look into doing it I also appreciate feedback on what the proper could be To summarize it seems like no 1 knows what the problem could be i may know more once the gps test is done next i think most would agree i m not looking for a wii fun on this fabulous phone n next correct me if i am wrong i hope work for t mobile 4 a while and have been there 11 years most phone companies you can't get a full refund out of the buyer's remorse period
i actually believe most of you will think i am right or at least the grateful to want to wait until the problem is saw. It is not the worse in the world once i find out that use it i will wait on the 6 once they say this symptom is clearly not related names if it persists i may ask for a replacement. Until then any support or advice in simple terms, LOL, Would be appreciated. I just saw a thread with the term gps fix with another link does anyone know if that works .
Thanks again so much Please remember this was typed or not typed using the speech to text feature. I have issues that make my hands shake head hurts and issues much better for typing
In sending my last post i head something popped up that said Something beta OR traditional Wouldn't that have something to do with this thread for the entire site on my vibrate
I just purchased the gt540 but noticed that at the bottom of the screen there is some backlight bleeding and if pressed at the buttom it gives feedback. (I don't mean the regular feedback buttons but the actual bottom screen)
It's almost like it's intended to make typing a comfortable experience but it's not as the pressing doesn't extend to the full length of the keyboard. I suspect the top layer hasn't been put on properly. (Note that I'm NOT using a protective screen layer)
I'm also dealing with weird reception issues like not receiving txt messages or phone calls sometimes. Browsing is a weird experience to:
The phone constantly shows a 3g icon with full reception. When I start browsing it takes a really long time for the page to load, but then whilst still loading the page i can see the 3g icon change to Hsdpa and the page is suddenly loaded. Downloading is also really fast when it finally is going, so the potential speed is there.
This is ALWAYS the case and it just seems really weird and out of the ordinary to me, like it's some stupid bug or setting issue.
I was thinking that it might be a rom issue but I'm using cyanogen 7 m6 which is considered stable right?
Oh and the battery is also showing weird behaviour, going from half full to completely empty, but I've heard that more people are experiencing battery problems.
I really love this phone but all the problems are drastically reducing the user experience.
Is anybody else dealing with these problems? I'm also really curious about my screen issue.
Thanks heaps

Flash and calibrate battery
I recommend you flash the latest ROM http://twitter.com/#!/MrMur4ik and calibrate your battery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12728721&postcount=1952. If you think it's a physical defect, you should get another phone.

You cannot flash 'latest ROM' without flashing fastboot first. Latest ROM is actually 2.1. (2.3 is unofficial, also you should have pointed to XDA Thread and not Mur4ik's twitter.) Also flashing a new ROM won't fix screen defects.
www.myGT540.com
There you go
No fastboot?
How did you update to Swiftdroid v2.0 M6? I used Mur4ik's Twitter account because the forum on this board is NOT by Mur4ik himself and it can be sometimes out-of-date. You can get the latest ROMs ASAP from Mur4ik's Twitter account. You should get a new phone as it has physical defects.
Hello all,
I have a question and if some one can help me i would be very grateful
I have the Samsung Note 3 SM-N9005, and i am using the Cyanogenmod 11 on it, but i am experiencing some sound statics that are very annoying in general. Basically when the phone uses the speakers the sound in most of the cases is awful with static distortion.
Does any one has any solution to this, or ideas how to fix it ? i tried the latest nightly builds (till 01.05.2014) and nothing helped even if in those builds it was written that they have fixed the sound static distortion.
Thanks allot for any help given!

Dang, i was hoping for a solution ... dony really want to go back to TW honestly, but this ia killing me from inside.
Do you think that a stable update will fix it only or a nightly can do the trick to?

It's like that in cm roms since 1800.
Try turning off all system sounds, sometimes it helps.

It works, for now at least, but it works!
I dont see what those sounds have to do with the speakers in general but ... bugs are bugs i guess.
Any ideas of when they will fix this? I actualy love these sounds
Ps: you can leave the click sounds, the problem is with the lock/unlick sound(at least for now i did not have problems, but will continue testing)
Don't ask me, because i don't know why, but it's like that and that's the way it is.
As i told you, this is a bug since forever. Don't think a proper fix is coming soon.

Cyanogenmod 11 sound fault temporary solution??
An alternative temporary solution is to download an equalizer app. Drop all the controls down to zero and then bring them back up one by one. I had a sound issue with just one app on my Samsung galaxy ace II so this might work on your note 3. Ran the equalizer, ran the app, no more screeching or buzzing. When equalizer off, app on its own reproduces sound problems. Several equalizer apps I tried seemed to do the trick. DSP allows you to disable and enable when required. This is my first post and as a noobie I read the terms and conditions first; but I apologize if I have still not followed protocol. Hope this is still relevant.
I had that issue too. Not really sure if it has a permanent fix; it kinda came and went away on its own.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? When I'm listening to music and I get sound notification from whatsapp for example, it becomes distorted for a good five seconds atleast (the music and the notification) and maybe even longer sometimes. I'm using the latest nightly and still experiencing this issue
Flash Temasek's unofficial CM build. He builds from official CM sources and then adds some useful features. A lot of problems in regular CM are fixed in his builds, including broken sound.
