Hi,
Every now and then when I try to send an SMS from my XDA2 I press the send button in the top left corner and all that happens is that the cursor jumps to the end of the "to" field. Nothing else?
In order to be able to send an SMS once in this stat I have to turn off and turn back on the phone part and then everything works fine. It's only infrequently but when it happens it's quite annying.
This is my second XDA2 and both were running the 1.60.00WWE Rom with 1.10.00 Radio and both suffered from the problem.
Has anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,

@ads_green,
although I can´t help you out here, I still can confirm that bug on my machine
My machine:
Vodafone Personal Assistant (Qtek 2020)
ROM-Version 1.66.01GER
ROM-Date 02/23/04
Radio-Version 1.10.00
Protokoll-Version 1337.18
ExtRom-Version 1.66.143
Software installed:
Adobe Acrobat
Funny Snake TKCreater
Mobile-Banking
PocktZenPhone
PocketWeather
Total Commander
WisBar Advanced
VITO Voice Dialer
I see that we both use the same radio version.
Anybody else can confirm that bug ?
Marcus
SMS problem
I can confirm the same problem you have but I noticed the following:
When I turn on the phone from a soft reset and after entering the
PIN for the telco network, the "G" icon (GPRS) briefly pops up
and beep sound is heard. This is normal
Occasionally this "G" icon comes up again and beep is heard for no reason.
When this happen, then I cannot send SMS like you mentioned.
Receiving SMS is OK. Making and receiving calls is OK also.
Also at this time
START--->SETTINGS---->PHONE cannot be accessed.
Nothing happens when clicked.
The only way to get out is to SOFT RESET.
However one time I tried to investigate further and check the processes
and applications, open/closing other software, etc. the system
went into a HARD REST automatically.
I suspect the problem is due to the phone settings software part.
It could also be a SIM card problem or a loose contact with SIM card.
I also have the same ROM.
Anyone has any ideas?
I have the exact same problem recently and that 'G' icon keeps appearing, i find that if i turn my phone onto Flight mode then back to normal, it resolves this for a while but doesnt stop it happening!

Over the past couple of months I've noted a few bugs with my O2 XDAII running Windows Mobile 2003. Are all these bugs well known and have they been fixed by the ROM upgrade 1.60?
- XDAII crashes occasionally when asking for a password just after being switched on, showing a blank white screen or flickering password entry screen even after the password has been entered. I have my password set to a 4 digit code and 5 minute delay. This seems to happen when a reminder or call wakes the device up.
- XDAII sometimes doesn't wake up for reminders (the XDA also suffered from this problem)
- when the GPRS connection is active, there is no option to "disconnect GPRS" within the radio menu pop-up box (which opens up when you tap the signal strength indicator). The only way to close the GPRS connection seems to be by holding down the red "end call" hardware button for 1-2 seconds.
- no "x" at the top right of the phone skin sometimes, when a call comes in that wakes the device up. This means you have to open another program to be able to go ack to the phone skin and close it.
- sometimes XDAII device doesn't switch off after 3 minutes, although the screen does dim after 1 minutes (the 3 minutes and 1 minute are what I have set in my power settings). This seems to happen after GPRS use or Bluetooth being switched back on?
- the phone skin doesn't always recognise the caller from the contacts list and just shows the number, even if the contact is in the contacts list.
- when looking up a name in contacts for sending an SMS message you need to add "+" in front of 44.... as this doesn't seem to get included, which prevents messages from getting sent properly
- the bluetooth headset does not interact properly with the XDA II, it sometimes doesn't connect or disconnect the headset properly, you cannot flip out the bluetooth boom to answer a call, you cannot voicedial (this is a big disadvantage, is there any software available which makes this possible?) and you cannot long-press to reject a call. Although I use a Motorola HS810 headset the problem is with the XDAII headset profile.
I am aware that the bluetooth headset and SMS "+" problem have been discussed in this forum but have the others been noticed and fixed in the new ROM?
Regards,
Rafil.
Okay so I think I know at least A solution but I'm hoping that someone here will be able to suggest something besides a hard reset.
I've got a Cingular 8125 a couple of weeks ago. Flashed it to the latest imate rom. I kept it from installing the custom imate stuff but did install some of the Cingular cabs.
Now I'm having a few problems with the phone. It's quite a list.
A) I can't enable wifi at all. At one point I could but the phone locked up on me while I was trying to resetup my connection. I had no choice but to soft reset it. Now I can't enable wifi at all. If I click on it in the comm manager to turn it on it will sit there with the spinning wheel like it's enabling then go back to the same icon with the x on it. I've tried turning flight mode on and off, etc but nothing seems to help it.
B) the phone HAS been locking up. It will just sort of freeze and stop responding. Sometimes I'm able to get to the memory settings in control panel and still have available memory (it's usually been around 16 MB of program memory when this has occured) but even so closing everything will often not help. Even if it unfreezes then it will usually do so not much later and often it just won't unfreeze.
C) sometimes I can't close out the phone application. This seems to happen when Magic Button is running. I click to close it and it goes from the phone to my call history. Closing that goes back to the phone again. I can't get to the Today screen. Pressing the red hangup button would sometimes fix it but usually not.
D) voice command is REALLY wonky using my BT headset (Scala 500). Okay, I know it doesn't officially work with BT headsets and I could live with that. But why does it have to be so damned random?
1) Sometimes pressing the button once will get me the chime. Usually it just gets me a lower pitched tone. If the first press doesn't get it then typically a second within a short time will. Sometimes it takes three though.
2) At one point the phone would usually play my selected ringtone and announce the incoming call over the headset. Other times I would only get the default incoming call sound on the headset and the phone and voice command announcement are over the phone speakers instead. In the last couple of days I've ONLY been getting them from the phone.
3) While typically when I'm using the headset with voice command the feedback DOES come over the headset, sometimes it gives me the confirmations from the phone instead
I think there were a few other flaky issues too but this is the majority of them. Also many of them were present before the rom upgrade so I don't think it's responsible for most of it.
edit: oh, one other thing is that after the ROM upgrade I can't get the default input to stay on anything but keyboard. Even if I change it, I turn around and it's back to keyboard again. I'm thinking, though, that there's a reghack for this?
*bump*

I have the same problem with you. Can anybody help?
any solutions i have the same problem
Try this: back up your PIM, then flash phone back to OEM ROM (cingular, t-mobile, whatever it is for your model). Then unlock it again (if needed), and flash the ROM again. If it's still garbage, try reading the thread for the ROM you loaded (chances are you're not the first to experience this problem, and the other testers of that ROM may offer solutions). If it's still garbage after all that, consider using a different ROM altogether. CRacing's CR86 Touch HD and SVI's ANGEL are both quite nice, and VERY reliable for functionality.
I think I have the weirdest problem encountered.
My touch screen goes on every 10 - 30 minutes with my simcard in it. I have tried other simcards aswell but the problem remains.
I have noticed that everytime my simcard is polling to an antenna the screen turns itself on as it would receive an incoming message or call. But nothing happens. With other simcards this occurs.
If I disable the phone mode in the settings, the problem is gone. But then I cant receive phone calls or call.
And all of this happens suddenly. Without changing rom/software.
I already have tried using another rom but nothing works.
Google was not my friend this time. Maybe someone else is?
Thanks.
Mike
Maybe this helps
Go to Start->Settings->Phone->More->Broadcast Channels
Unchkec the Enable checkbox.
It already was unchecked
When phone is in standby:
1. Incoming call
2. I answer - quiet! Time counter go on, but I can't hear caller and caller can't hear me. Push "End Call" button.
3. Screen and keys not respond! Can't be switched off. The whole phone locks up.
4. I have to remove back cover and soft reset!!!
I have Htc Rom 1.66.
Can anybody else report if they have or had this problem?
Did anybody find a solution?
My phone has been in by HTC already 3 times for repair!!! They keep sending it back saying that problem is solved, but it's not!!!
You could be having notification queue issues. Try the solution in the thread "HD2 died- or did it" and see if that works for you.
WB
I don't think its a queue issue because this happens even after a hard reset.
Could it be that some program corrupts Rom so that the problem even happens after Hard reset?
I doubt it. However it is just as likely that you may have installed a piece of software that is, how shall we say, not behaving itself properly.
If I were you I would hard reset (backup your data first) then install your contacts. If you can, use the phone for a day or so without anything else loaded and see what happens.
I would not dismiss the notification queue issue at all. Causes more hassle in winmobile than anything else I know!
Let us know how you get on.
WB
This happens even after a hard reset and no software no contacts no alarms and nothing in calendar.
I know that its not hardware problem because when I make call or if I answer call when not in standby, then phone behaves normally and doesn't lock up.
I had that problem aswell, I´m using a Danish ROM, and had Co0kiemonsters version with 20 quicklinks installed. After I removed that program it worked without any probs.
Remove all programs U have on Your phone or Re install/upgrade that´s faster than removing the progs.
Instal those programs U had before your problems started. and test what might not work with your ROM
locks during call
Mine has started doing the same thing - locking during an incoming call or I can't disconnect after making a call unless I soft resent. The only think I have added recentently is HD2 tweak
I have quite often the problem that itself the display of my Touch2 switches on automatically.
That means: I switch the mobile phone off (standby - key lock). The display goes off naturally.
But If I look now later sometime on my phone, the display automatically turned on. The key lock is still active, but actually the display might not intervene automatically???
Someone an idea how or where I can adjust it?
nobody an idea? :-(
Hard to say.........assume that you have soft reset your phone already and if this does not help the next step would be to do a hard reset......
Ofcourse back-up your phone before hard reset!!
i have noticed the same on my phone, and i think it could be related to my mobile network operator... just like the network is starting to transfer a call (i'm recieving a call), and then because of a problem or an error the call is canceled, so nothing happens, no messages, but the phone is turned on. it's just an idea, may be i'm wrong... any other ideas?
did the hard-reset helped?
