acgive sync problem - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

help!! when my laptop starts, active sync does not load automatically, it gives a message saying "TCP/IP protocol not installed". i tried reinstalling active sync but it gave me message saying TCP/IP protocol must be installed before installation of active sync. i went to network settings n chose add >microsoft>TCP/IP, yet that dint solve the problem, please help

WOW, what version are you using/installing?

I had a similar problem, i've spent a whole day to resolve it!
This works for W2K.
1) Run Regedit
2) Find key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CURRENTCOTROLSET\SERVICES\WINSOCK"
3) Delete it
4) Find key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\CURRENTCOTROLSET\SERVICES\WINSOCK2"
5)Delete it
6) Uninstall TCP/IP protocol in Network properties
7) Reboot you system
8) Install and configure your TCP/IP protocol
Be sure to make a backup of your Registry before you change it!
Now your TCP/IP will work again.
If you can't create a new partnership with your PPC, maybe your socket files should be corrupted...This was my problem! I resolve it exporting socket keys from another similar computer and importing them in my registry. After, all works fine!
Good luck.

USB Active Sync problems on windows 2003

Hey all,
I'm running Windows 2003 Server on my development system, and would like to connect to my MDA2.
Activesync does say it has connected sucessfully, but never shows the "New partnership" wizard. Any for of syncing or file browsing results in nothing but error messages like "Unable to retrieve device information". I've searched a lot of fora already and tried re-installing outlook, activesync and the driver that came with my mda 2. I also tried disabling my firewall, starting all available serviecs etc. Nothing seems to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
From other various posts uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync seems to be the solution to this problem and this worked for me. Ensure you have the latest version of ActiveSync - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx. Delete any current partnerships and then attach your device.
That didn't do the trick Activesync does start up, and a connection can be made, but the whole idea of partnerships seems to be diabled. There is no partnership wizard at startup, and no way to delete or edit the current partnership. I'll tyry again tonight, until then I'll just run all my updates from work

Uninstall, disable driver signing and reinstall.
Failing that, make sure you have all available updates from Windows Update and the latest build version of Activesync. 3.71 build 4034 is what I use. I've used this no problem on W2K3.

The only way I can get it to work is to kill explorer.exe and disable the anti-virus (Symantec corp 9.0), uninstall ASync, reinstall ASync, connect device.
This setup works all the time, but after a reboot I have to start all over. I've tried disabling driver signing, system file protection in any possible combination to no avail, maybe I should just re-install my system (or it may be that I have Visual Studio .Net 2005 installed, but that seems a bit far fetched.

Activesync detects K-Jam but does not connect

When I connect the K-Jam to the PC, using a USB cable, ActiveSync 4.1 detects the device. It starts connecting but it doesn't get a real connection. After a few minutes, it stops connecting.
I tried several soft resets, but they didn't help. Sync did work on a previous installation of Windows XP (SP2) but on a freshly installed system, I can't get it to work.
When I connect the device I do get an error saying "a duplicate name exists on the network". But I have no idea on how to solve this.
There is no firewall or anti-virus software installed.
If read about MTU in other threads, but I can't find that entry in the registry.
Who can help me out?
(PS trying to sync via Bluetooth is also not working )
Try changing the PDA name.....
..... go to Start > Settings > System > About > Device ID.
change the device ID and see if it will connect.
I had a problem like this with an old Dell X50 that would not let me sync when I had done a restore. There are ways to resolve the issue but I can't remember them off the top of my head. See if the name change works first though.
Good luck

Hi. I tried this, but it didn't work. So I did a hard reset and tried it again. And now, it's working fine again.

Hard reset now its all messed up?

I had a friend or should I say so called friend erase my phone. Basically hard reset it.
Now it will not sync or install any of my apps.
I had the 2.25.11.1 OS if it makes any difference.
I tried deleting all devices on my activesync and then renaming my phone and it still will not sync.
I try installing my SPB software and it all is unsuccessful.
Any idea would be greatly appreciated.
Which M$ Activesync version r u using ?
version 4.0 activsync
Upgrade it to either 4.2 or latest 4.5 beta from microsoft and then try .
I upgraded to 4.2 and deleted all but the device name I applied to my phone.
It starts the connection then briefly shows retrieving setting before a screen pops up saying sync process cannot be completed and to view the troubleshooting help page for activesync.
I have no clue why its acting up now.....
Ok thrn go to ur systems Document & settings folder then to ur users defined profile then in microsoft folder u will have activesync folder & in that there will b profiles manually delete the files restart ur laptop or desktop rename ur mobile device with difffrent name then restart ur device also , then try to connect , hope so this will work and make sure to restart both of them b4 connecting .

ActiveSync 4.5 Problem

Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble connecting a pocket pc to my pc. I'm getting the following error message from activesync when I try to establish a partnership connection:
"Cannot verify the version of ActiveSync on your device. A program such
as a firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the
device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version od
ActiveSync on the PC"
Even if I try to cardle a virtual pocket pc (visual studio) I get the above message.
I'm using activesync 4.5 on a windows xp service pack 3 pc. Installing AS 3.8 would solve the connection/partnership problem but I must use AS 4.5 because Visual Studio does not except older versions of AS.
I've tried so far everything: allowed all ports needed for AS (even deactivated the firewall) - I tried to delete the partnership folders but found out that they haven't even been created by AS.
Even google couldn't really help me: most people get this error message because they have installed a HSDPA usb modem driver from hauwei. But I did not.
does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?
thank you in advance!
I have the same problem. I once got into it through My Computer but since then I've had no luck whatsoever!
You have exactly the same problem?
if you're not using visual studio just install active sync 3.8 as mentioned above. But I found an uggly solution: Cardle you pocket pc - you will get the regular error message. then open the taskmanager and kill the process rapimgr.exe and restart it again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync)
Uncardle and recardle the pocket pc again - you will get a critical error message but it can be ignored. Now you will be able to accees your data.
To deploy your software on pocket pc with visual studio you might restart the remote rocedure call locator (Control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
hope I could help you! but I'm really not satisfied with this solution. I'm open for better ways to solve this problem.

ActiveSync fails to start

first off I'm using windows xp sp2 and ActiveSync 4.5 for my tmus hd2. when my computer starts up i get the error wcescommmgr.exe failed to initialize properly.

bumping to get this some more views
any suggestions guys?
just untick the "enable faster connection" button on USB-PC dialog box, and try again.
ihave its not a problem with my phone settings its my computer. on startup i get an error tat says wcescomm.exe failed to initialize properly. it happens even if my phone isn't connected
or can someone tell me another program to use for syncing on win xp
so i suppose noone has had this issue?
Have you tried this:
http://social.answers.microsoft.com...c/thread/06013872-5bec-4d25-8d4b-7a9e23ee8c6a
yeah my computer isn't connected to the internet so i have firewalls turned off. ichecked services in admin tools and found nothing relating to ActiveSync. i really need to sync my phone. mmmy phone gets recognized as disk drive but ActiveSync is faster
ok so i tried tracking down registry entries but it was too confusing. i ado tried reinstalling ActiveSync to my other hard drive and it still does it. wcescomm.exe had failed to initialize properly (0x0000142)
thnx rpx1 it worked for the future its all about missing a profile to active sync.created new system profile aka user account and im good to go
