Did a search for SD cards and it came up with a SIM EMU post on this site. So going off topic, whats SIM EMU, what can it do for me, where can i get it (tried the link, that didn't work, tried a search and most of the sites aren'ti n english)
Seems like you can put more than one number on a card and switch without having to turn the phone off. Any further input, sounds like it could be good.
Will not work in UK, I found to my cost after destroying 2 sim cards. There is another twin sim holder that works with xda2 though, you just switch off and on when you wish to change sims.
Simemu is indeed a very good way to have up to eight numbers/accounts on one sim card. You select which one to use by pin number, so no more swapping cards over. It works fine in the XDA and just about any other unlocked phone.
The hard part is getting the needed info out of your original sim card. This is called the "Ki" and needs to be extracted. In the UK this has only been possible with all Orange and some O2 cards, never with Vodafone.
In the last year or so, some sims have appeared with a limit on the number of cycles they will run before self destructing, so attempting to extract the Ki can harm the card.
So it all depends on what networks you want to use and how old your sims are.
So can this be done with orange UK sims? My sims are about 4 years old, i have one thats much older, but i cancelled the contract on that so presumably disabled. Also have a couple of active PAYG sims.
I'd be interested to merge the new contract i have with an old number on the same card, would be useful.
I'm currently using everyphone divert, but it diverts all the time, even when my new [hone is off and old one is on. Annoying.
Other pain is it doesn't divert SMS, so i quite often miss them.
Yes, UK Orange cards of this age should be easy to extract the Ki from, payg or contract.
Also if you manage to get the Ki from the de-activated card, you should be able to get Orange to turn it back on as a payg or something.
Remember that only one number can be active at any one time, and you must never have the original sim turned on in another phone while using the copy of it in the multi sim.
Thanks for your replys kerr.
Have you done this yourself? Do you have any links of where i can find out information on how to effeectively try it and get it done?
All i'm looking for is that i have a sim with a great number. Its on orange no monthly tariff (i just pay for calls and just get a bill when i use it) Thats great for me as i hardly use it.
Then i got a new phone on contract (as it was way cheaper than upgrade). I've set up an everyphone divert from my old number to this one, but that annoys me as even with new one off and old one on, it still diverts. Shame.
So if i could get both numbers on the same sim that would be great, in principal! I get my number that i like, and i can quickly swith to new number to make calls (as its got free minutes). After the year contract is up i'll dump the new number anyway.
Whay can't you have the original sim on if its cloned?
Cheers
If you have the original sim switched on at the same time as the clone the system will know about it and you will probaly end up with a zapped sim courtesy of your provider.
there has to be a way around that

Yes, I made a card about 2 1/2 years ago which contains:-
1X O2 Anytime account
1X O2 Offpeak account
1X Genie PAYT
3X Orange PAYT with different off peak times chosen
1X Spanish PAYT
1X Greek PAYT
It has worked fine in every phone I have tried it in.

You must not have them both on at the same time because they will both log onto the network and appear to be some kind of fraud attempt. (Somone else trying to use your account)
You really need to programme the card yourself rather than get it done because the last thing you would want is anyone else knowing your Ki.
To do this you would need a phoenix, a pic programmer and a blank silver card. All the software is free.
That sounds like one action packed card!
It would be useful just to have a couple of numbers on there, but you seem to be making the most of it!
Where can the exquipment be bought, borrowed? Is it readily available and cheap?
I see what you mean about someone else having the details. Could be a bit dodgy.
So this method is a bit like having a double sim car thing, but instead of having to turn the machine on and off, you can just put in a pin number.
With the XDA II tho, would the double sim card thing work if you turned flight mode off then on, would that switch the sims? Where can a double sim holder be got from
If you know anyone who is into Satellite Television, they will almost certainly have everything you need to do the job.
If you need to buy take a look at www.interesting-devices.com or www.maxking.co.uk. You could also look in the sat section on ebay.
If you go for a multi programmer like a Mastera, it would be all that is needed in one. See www.mcsat.co.uk.
When you change between numbers the phone does a soft reset, so I imagine flight mode on/off would have the same effect on a twin sim.

Hello,
i read somewere that's impossible with new sim to read the Ki code of the sim because this code is read-protected.
Tring to read this you can destroy the sim.
It's correct?
I have an italian sim by vodafone!
Thanks for the reply.

Yes, that's right. Most of the newest SIM cards has a newer algorithm, so u cannot clone it. I don't know about your SIM card, maybe you have an old one. However, if U have 250 entry names in your phonebook, than it's probably new one and it could not be read, but do not be afraid to destroy it..., that will happen if U'l try to read it a few hours again and again....hope this helps!
Regards!
P.S.:
All backUp function support A3A8 COMP128V1 SIM Card only.
This SIM Card Back-UP device doesn't support newest SIM Card that uses COMP128V2 algorythm to code KI key.
Some GSM SIM Cards from 2001 (COMP128V1) are Scan-Limited. It has limited running scan 65536 times. If the scan is over 65536, the SIM Card will be locked. This SIM Card will not work any more.

Ki is stored in SIM card like CHV in respective file, but in Ki file's header all permission bytes are FF, e. g. it is impossible to read/write etc. with this file from external. From internal (COS) it is possible to read... the SIM do this when it calculate SRES+Kc
Hi there,
Some time ago I purchased a KING OF DOUBLE CARD for my MDA Compact. It seems however that this card is not functioning in my PPC.
I am using a MDA Compact with the original T-Mobile ROM. I only partly installed the cabs because I wanted to get rid of the ugly T-mobile colours.
Could someone please provide me with some help?:
1st: does anyone make use of the KING OF DOUBLE CARD
2nd: What Rom do you have
3rd: Do I have to install something in addition?
etc etc.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards
Wilfried
dont know any answers, but I do have a question...how did you make it fit?
I thought it didnt fit in the HTC Magician....so I bought another and carved up my SIMs
works fine though, using Wivit SIm Status Switcher with it to switch SIMs..
you could try it, its a great app
which model did you buy? what do you mean by "carved up my SIMS"?
He probably means a ghost sim, where you cut the chips out of two sim cards and out them into the ghost sim which is normal sim size.
Hi there,
It is a model where you don't have to cut your sims.
Yes you are right: it doesn't fit that easy however with some pressure on the back of the phone it fits.
The problem however is that my phone doesn't recognize the damn card.
I am cosidering to throw it away and take a second phone with me for the other SIM. Again waste of money. hmmmmm
Best regards

Double SIM work fine on my XDA mini
Hello all,
Just want to share some info, I use Almighty Bicard on my XDA mini, and it's working fine on it, just turn on your flight mode, then turn off your flight mode than you will get your second SIM.
Or you can use SIM master or SIM MAX, it can handled 8/12 SIM no. on 1 SIM card, but some time you have problem to scan your original SIM card.
Thanks, Vireman
Can you point me to the specific dual sim you use??
I bought the ghost sim and couldn't get it to work, I tried on 4 old sim cards and decided not to cut up my work sim and personal sim.
I have been looking for the other typoes which take the full sim cards.
On another note it may not work because you will need to get the T-Mobile phone unlocked to work with another companies SIM.
My work sim is o2 and would only work after the MDA was unlocked.
You can phone T-Mobile ans they will send you the code to do this for £15.
Hallo ishgrnod,
I use Almighty Bicard, You need to cut your SIM chip and put it together on Almighty Bicard. It work like a switcher, If you restart your phone it will switch to another SIM.
Mostly in my country there no phone lock from the operator, I think your problem come from this side.
Thx. Vireman
Isn't there a universal phone unlocker already on the forums?
I use this cut up dual sim in the UK:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6415916094&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
from this user:
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=slam1416&iid=6415916094&frm=284
Works fine. Just have a steady hand when you cut, measure twice, cut once
I use an O2 contract and orange PAYG. Some reports say O2 contract doesn't work. Mine does, no problems.

I bought a King Of Double Card for my MDA Compact. I cannot get it to fit at all.
I don't really want to chop up my SIM cards either :?
OK, UPDATE:
I got it to fit but the phone will not recognize the cards. I'm using WiViT SIM Status Switcher.
Can anyone suggest recommend a different tool ?
I'm on
ROM Version : 1.12.00 WWE
Radio : 1.12.10
ExtROM : 1.12.131 WWE
WiViT isn't likely to be the problem - it just reads the operator from your network, and the sim phone number stored in your Sim; you may not have one stored in there (I bloody didn't and thought my EVC programming was at fault). See WiViT's faq, or basically open up Sim Manager on your phone.
But, ignore wivit, just ensure you can make a telephone call with either sim. Then, switch over with STK or flight mode off/on and see if you can make a call with the other Sim. If that works, then your problem is with WiViT. If it doesn't your problem is with the sims. See my other posts on these cut up sims - basically, i think Magician doesn't put enough pressure on the back of the "mini sims", and you need to stick some paper down the back of the metal sleave.
V
PS See the thread on Magician today screens to see my Wivit type software...
Hey V, thanks for the advice...
My problem was down to the single SIM end of the Dual SIM not making contact with the connectors in the phone. I have the King Of Double Card Type, as shown in my crude mockup below. ( I dont dare take mine out to take a picture since it took me all evening to get it in right. So please excuse the picture.)
WiViT is working perfectly now, i made sure my own numbers were stored correctly as you suggested, and all is well.
The only problem is, the back of my MDAc is slightly out...but i can live with that i guess (until the MDA Pro (HTC Universal) is released)

Hello..
I last night put my phone onto "flight mode" so that i was not distrubed in the night if a text came through....
this morning i set it back to normal but the network reception reported NO SERVICE
when it had not come back this evening.... i put my sim in a different phone and used a different network's sim card in my pda.... NO SERVICE was reported for this as well but the sim that was placed in the other phone registered on o2 as soon as the phone was switched on
I've only just bought my MDA but off ebay... although it was new i am unable to contact the seller... please can anybody help??
email me to [email protected] or [email protected] if anybody can help

MORE info re above
Hi again
In my frustration I have swapped sims again and this time put VODAFONE pay as you go sim in the MDA Magician above.... It found the network and i was able to ring/text from it.....
On putting the O2 Sim Back into the MDA it said NO SERVICE again.....
But using that very same sim in my nokia finds a network.....
The MDA is originally a TMOBILE one that has been unlocked...
ANY help on this would be very appreciated as I'm very annoyed that it's stopped working.
Thank you
Soft reset?
Although, I think taking your batter out and swapping sims may count as a soft reset.
Thanks for the reply - but again that did not solve it... besides to eliminate this i did a HARD RESET as well and re configured it....
I've even RE UNLOCKED it in case this was the problem
(its a T MOBILE PDA) with an O2 SIM IN...... I bought it in November time and unlocked it the same time... My O2 Sim has been working ok in it until the other night when i decided to put it in "flight mode"(so i wasn't disturbed at night)
Im suspecting that it anything to do with IMEI number vs SIM CARD number? Could this have been blocked somehow to that phone?
Its very confusing as it WORKS with VODA sim and DOESNT with O2 yet the SAME O2 sim works in my old nokia 6610.... aaarggghhhh!! LOL
If your MDA works with a Vodafone SIM, it certainly can't be blacklisted for all UK networks since it picks up Vodafone. Secondly, it sounds more like a SIM card issue relating strictly to the MDA. What happens when you try another O2 SIM card in the same MDA?
Make sure the O2 SIM hasn't been damaged in some way, if all fails you might want to take the MDA to T-Mobile to see if they can determine whether its IMEI has been blacklisted for certain networks. Otherwise a ROM upgrade may also help fix the problem.
Good Luck
My guess is that your magician is reported & listed as stolen. Probably not all providers are using the same list with blocked IMEI numbers. Which can explain that one sim works & the other doesn't though works in an other phone.
See if you can find a list for your country on the web. There are some references to such lists in this forum.
Regards, M
check which band your phone is using....
go Phone>Options>band> then select auto
I have two XDA Mini S phones, which I believe are fully unlocked. I am able to use a Vodaphone sim in them and everything works perfect. When I put my works Orange sim in them the phone works i.e. I can make and receive calls but the Sim Manager does not work. Which means I cannot access the contacts on the sim card or use the options menu to configure the phone. When I try to access the options menu I get the message " the phone is not ready, please wait 15 seconds and try again"
Has anyone else had this problem and gotten over or around it. I have spoken to both o2 and Orange and they are both an absolute waste of time. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks.
Hi,
I am on orange too, also had the same trouble. I could make and receive calls, but could not access sim card to add contacts or send / receive texts. The XDA mini is a 2G phone, my orange sim is was a 3G. When I changed it for my wifes 2G orange sim, all worked perfectly, so we just swapped sims and phone numbers. Tried to get a 2G sim out of orange on my contratc, they were having none of it, said I would have to go PAYG. So I did the swap with the wife and extended the contract.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for your advice Mlkey.
Following your response I contacted Orange and changed my works contract 3G sim for a 2G sim on contract. This still does not work and as usual I am getting no real help from Orange.
Looks like the only solution will be to change my mobile / pda, that is, unless anyone else has any other possible fix.
Are PAYG sim's different than contract sim's ??, if they are does anyone know if I were to get a PAYG sim that worked in my XDA would I be able to get my company number transfered to that sim and convert the sim from PAYG on to my works contract account ???.
I would appreciate all the help / advice I can get, before this drives me mad !!!
XDa wizard and Orange sim only
Hi,
I'm having exactly the same problem! O2 to Orange sim only and completely no SMS. Orange support is argueably the worst. Interseting to here that it's version. ie G4/G4..Have read somwhere that VOip SMS maybe the solution? ...If i can find the thread again I'll post a link.
Cheers
Eamonn
Fixed this problem by using the t-mobile 2.26 rom as described in "Definitive Guide to unblocking and rom upgrading g3 wizards
I am having exactly the same problem. My phone is a G4 and I believe it to be fully unlocked from o2. According to orange my sim is a G2 sim because the 7th number of the sim card begins with a 2 and not a 3. I cant even try a different rom because I can't connect to my computer with active sync through usb or bluetooth this has been for about a year now.I usually transfer files through a card reader. Can anybody help me because the deal with orange is really good but the phone is useless without sms or mms and I really dont want to change the phone.
My IPL 2.21.001
SPL 2.21.001

Hello, i have a big problem regarding a ORBIT2 from O2. The guys at O2 dont understand my problem , so i hope as the last hope you can help me. As you know the Orbit2 is the same as HTC cruise, o2 has no sim-lock here in germany. I use a sim-card from another telephone company and all works fine. I have problems with the sim-access profile. In my car i have a Nokia 616 Bluetooth hands free unit built in which supports sim- access profile. If i try to establish a connection between the orbit2 and my in car unit it works to the point as they handle out the password. After i confirm the given password from the handsfree device it tells me that the simcard i not valid. Is in the orbit 2 a lock on the bluetooth sim access profile which means that only o2 Simcards are allowed for the Sim access ? Can you please help me, because here is no one which understands my problem. Maybe i can have another firmware to solve the problem, the phone itself is simlock-free.
I dont understand why it is only possible with o2-sim cards to have the sim access functionality.
Can anybody help me?
Greetings Wolfman-Jack
Sorry I don't have an answer to your problem; I understand car kits using SAP are quite new.
Could you tell me how well it works with other phones in general, and how much you paid?
I understand the SAP system means the car kit has it's own "phone" but accesses your SIM card to connect to the network?
Hi there,
it works great!
You turn on your ignition key and the car kit start opening the connection to your cellular phone in your pocket without any touch of a button ect...
After your drive, you switch of the motor and the car unit disconnects the connection and give the cellular phone its function back.
A great thing, but believe me iam so disappointed that my new Orbit from O2 rejects my simcard but only in combination to my car hands free unit....
Greetings to UK!

Hi,
interesting. So just to be clear you tried
1) o2 sim in orbit II - sim access works fine
2) other net sim in orbit II- sim access not work?
if that's the case you could try flashing a new rom, but I would suggest u wait a bit. Maybe check in the kaiser (o2 stellar) forum, for same prob and how to resolve it.
check compatibility of your bluetooth car kit with Polaris seems to be ok

ORBIT2 O2 Lock on SIM ACCESS
Hi Jackster,
i have meanwhile a little more what i have checked out.
Yesterday i took all sim-cards which have been in nearby range and what a big surprise all worked fine.
I tried prepaid cards of Vodafone, T-Mobile, and E-PLus and a contract card of E-Plus.
The only simcard which was rejected during the try of connect to the bluetooth devise is my own BASE-SIM-CARD .
BASE is by the why part of EPLUS company thats the FLATRATE PART of EPLUS.
After i tested all, i called my friend which has also an BASE contract and what another big surprise his card also didn`t work.
After all brainstorming it seems that only that BASE-cards were declined.
Next step is to find out what the differences are between all cards and the BASE sim card is. Maybe UMTS and normal GSM????
Maybe a protocol problem, because in my E51 from Nokia all cards also the BASE-CARDS works fine.
Greetings
Wolf
Wolf, I would suggest trying BASE related forums, as the same issue might happen with other handsets.
You might also try phoning BASE, tell them your problem, and asking if they have another type of SIM card you can try, even if you have to pay €10.
Good luck, and please let us know if you find the solution.
good luck

it would be difficult to get an old simcard, cause all provider deliver as new card so called USIM Card, most times with 72k Size. Try to get a blank E-Plus Simcard in an phoneshop and call the hotline, ask them for a sim card change and tell them you have a blank simcard you can use (dont tell its an eplus sim card) the cant check it, they will reaktivate your simcard with your base number without questions only minor change... in the phone your provider will be stated as E-Plus cause its programmed in your simcard.

Hello Wolf,
i have the same problem with my new Touch Cruise and my Nokia 616. I tried several Sims´s the last 2 days. One Vodafone (UMTS), one normal O2 (UMTS), one O2-Multicard (UMTS) and one old E-Plus (GSM).
The E-Plus Sim was the only one wich operated normally in SAP-Mode. The other Sim-Cards hanged by connecting after pairing. After turning the igniton off and on, this cards asked for the PIN but they didn´t find a network.
Have you tried another Firmware likes Bepes???
Hello LM76,
no i havent heard about that.
Can you tell me more.
