T-mobile ROMs are known to prevent USB flashing ... you will have to use the SD card method with .nbf files

Could you link me to the directions on how to do it that way. I'm really new at this. Is the SD the sim card?
Thanks
Garth

It seems you are familiar with the kitchen and that's fine ... cook your new ROM as usual but select the ROM to be .nbf file.
Using the XDAtools you can copy this file to the SD card (Secur Disk card for expantion not the SIM and it should be 64 MB or higher) ... then goto the boot loader (soft reset while pressing power) ... it will ask you to perss action ... when flashing is done, press hard reset ... wait 60 sec then press hard rest again ... enjoy

Doing this you must have a sd card
First thing you have to do is Back up your pocket pc.
1. go to the kitchen
2. select items for your rom
3. cook rom in nbf format ( secont method )
4. download xdatools from xda-developers.com
5. backup your sdcard in on your pc b/c this will format your card.
6. unzip the rom you cooked
7. now using the next step will erase your pocket pc
8. press the power button and reset you phone with your stylus
9. now you will see a different scree in the bottom it will say bootloader version xx
10. you must have below 5.15 if not start the program in "fix broken bootloader" in xdatools menu on your pc.(you mmust have your pocket pc connected to activesync.
11. now put your sd card in your pda and run xdatools browse to the file you downloaded and unzipped.
12. now press copy.
13. you will see a progress bar.
14. when this completes again press the power button and reset using your stylus.
15. now press the action button.
16 . the screen will now say FLASHING .
17. when this completes you will see your new rom.
I have done the same thing 2 days back.
FLASHING IS DANGEROUS NO GUARANTEE.

Do I need to install the xdatool to the pocket pc? And then run it from the pocket pc or from my notebook? Do i put the nbf and unzip it in the SD card or on my notbook.
Thanks

Also under xdatool it has source and destination. Do I get the rom from souce sd card and then put it into programme a?
Thanks

you will run xdatools from your notebook with.
unzip in your hard drive.
chose source where you unzipped your nbf file.dont use deop down menu use the browse button (...)
chose destination from drop down menu as " XDA SD CARD SLOT"

Easy for XDA I, but XDA II how to update from SD.

xda2 flash guide
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing

I'm with a similar problem... but i can't use active sync because the pc craches
Can i just copy the nbf fileto a sd card through a sd card writer? And do the all other stuff in the same way?

not you cant copy the nbf file to the sdcard it will not work you HAVE to use xdatools to get it there

How to copy nbf files on your SD card!

If you are one of those Qtek users who never settle for what they have and you want to experiment with cooking some new ROMs made to your individual needs, here's how you can do it.
- First, you need to always download the ROM in an EXE format. You then right click on the downloaded file and you choose to extract files in a specified folder
- Second, you will need to install XDAtools on you PC. After you've done so, run the application.
- A window with a 'source' field' and a 'destination' field will appear. In the 'source' field hit the browser button and pick up the nbf file you had previously extracted from the EXE ROM file. The file is named NK.NBF.
- Click on 'copy' and wait till is finished. You won't be able to verify that the file has been written on your card as the card is not readable.
- Slide the card in the Qtek and press the power button whilst simultaneously you do a soft reset.
- Let the files copy and do NOTHING untill the process is completed.
- Do a battery reset and wait for 60secs before you switch it on again.
Note1: Make sure you don't run out of power. Your battery must be fully charged.
Note2: If you're cooking your ROM in Lumpi Stefan's kichen have in mind that the ROM version 4.01.00 is a T-Mobile edition and it'll cause you various problems with ActiveSync. For a start you won't be able to upgrade to another ROM through your PC. You'll have to do it through an SD. Also the ROM edition 4.00.21 is in German.
Good Luck!

Cannot flash O2 ROM to SD card

I am not able to Flash the original O2 ROm to the SD card.
I have copied the file NK.NB1 using XDAtools to the SC card and did a soft reset.
It does not work. Can someone please help me and give me the exact steps to do the same.
I have WM2003 (tmobile) on the phone memory. Wallaby bootloader ver. 6.22.
Please help me.
Ok here you go, its a little outdated but its what I still use:
Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!
1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD
Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.
4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open
Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf
Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.
When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".
Click to collapse
It does not bring me to that screen on the bootloader after the reset.
It just says GSM OK.
please help...

6.22 doesn't recognize ROMs on SD cards ... you have to downgrade it to 5.15 ... and I doubt you can do it coz tmobile ROMs prevent USB flashing
Anyway, try this ... under \XDAtools\binaries directory run this command while your device is connected
pnewbootloader bootloader_5_15.nb0
I just tried and this is what the cmd window says:
D:\Program Files\XDAtools\binaries>pnewbootloader bootloader_5_15.nb0
ERROR: fopen(bootloader_5_15.nb0) - The system cannot find the file specified.
ERROR reading bootloader
Please help me...............please
Oops ... there is a missing "v"
The file name is bootloader_v5_15.nb0
Or just try bootloaderfix.bat
This will do the same... ;-)
Stefan
This is what I got now:
D:\Program Files\XDAtools\binaries>pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0
'D:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Unspecified error
Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect
D:\Program Files\XDAtools\binaries>
I believe this is a DOS error as it can't read "Program Files" as a full name due to the space character.
Try running this command your self from the DOS command window
same error message. typed the whole command myself.
anything?? any answers???
might be a silly advice ... copy the 2 files to a different directory with a short name ... ex. C:\Test ... and make sure that the device is connected to ActiveSync and in sync

This tool depends on specific memory locations for certain roms.
It does verify that it is talking to a known rom. It also does a very
minimalisitc check if the file presented to it resembles a bootloader.
I tested it with 3.16.52, 4.00.10 and 3.04.00 ( the very old ppc2003 rom ).
It should also work with 3.17.03, 3.19.01, 4.00.01 and 4.00.05.
unpack the archive, from the command prompt, in the 'build' directory
run 'pnewbootloader bl515.nb0'.
it should take about 10 seconds.
output should be something like this:
C:\fix\build>pnewbootloader.exe bl515.nb0

yeah it's a long file name issue
i think it needs to be d:\program^1 insted of d:\program files
if you make a dir command in the root of the consol it should display
all the names of the dirs in the root
and that should make it clear how the consol inpert the progra files dir name

Downgrade to 2002?

Hi, I m 1 of the fools, who tried to make a upgrade for my t-online MDA from WIndows 2002 to 2003 - but until now using O2.
After the update the mda does not start anymore. It shows only the startup screen with this data: G32S54, R3.23.11, 4.01.19 - but only with the o2-SIM. Otherwise nothing.
Hope, I could get a little help..
Thanks a lot..
.zaeng
You need to download the rom you require from the kitchen in nbf format, you then need xdatools, using xdatools you then program an sd memory card of 64 meg or greater with the nbf file, place the memory card in xda, push reset with stylus while holding powr button. Push action buton when prompted. Make sure your xda is charged. You should end up with a working system.
One question, did you carry out a hard reset after flashing the rom? This is done by unscrewing the stylus and using the top half to push in the tiny hole on bottom left of your xda, push once, wait one minute, push once more.
Downgrade..
I´m very sorry (or silly..), but what or where is a kitchen?
I made a hardware reset. The only thing, that i could get, is the wallaby bootloader 5.22 with the announcement GSM OK.
a kitchen is where you make your own rom

Downgrade
Hi, fine - but could you hold my hand one more time...
I now have an MultiMediaCard with a file NK.nb1. I start the boot lader, it reports "GSM ok" - thats all. Must I initiate the MMC or do something else?
did you follow this guide ?
because you cant just copy the nbf file to the sd card

Thanks. It works great. Good stuff you made.
The problem was, that the osImage Tool did not find the SDCard correctly, only after a programm restart. Now its working fine.
I will try to upgrade again, proofing wether 02 can work on an updated T-Mobile MDA I.
Thanx a lot.

Then you have to stay at your current ROM. T-Mobile ROMs prohibit flashing via Exe-file, and you get the Error Message....
So only possibility is to flash via SD-Card. As much as i know, you can alos use the XDA itself as Card Reader. Give it a try with the XDA-Tools...
