Hi all,
Thanks to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=39630#39630 and especially remarks from hb88xx, I successfully managed to recover from my own mistakes (that many people have done as well apparently).
Here is the story:
* I bought my O2 xda from Telstra in Australia where the band is 900/1800. It is a PW10A1 device.
* I then cooked a rom with Yorch's kitchen and as many others, didn't read enough posts before doing so and opted for the infamous EXE method as I had successfully upgraded once before from O2 using this method.
* As my bootloader is 5.17 and my cooked rom was based upon T-Mobile, I was stuck: impossible to downgrade the bootloader because of TMO checks (the wallaby patch doen't work) and impossible to up/downgrade using the SD card method because of the bootloader version.
* Still, I could use my device but my WM2003 was very buggy.
* Out of hope, I decided to upgrade to another TMO rom, but this time an official one (4.01.16) as I read it was quite stable.
* That was the BIG mistake as I also did the RSU upgrade and I ended up with a 900/1900 device, having the 4.21 RSU.
* I tried many of the tips I read from this forum, but none of them worked and I had to buy a cheap cellphone to use my SIM card on it and keep my xda as a pda.
Basically, what you need to do is the following:
* Using the attached file or the official TMO upgrade, extract and copy the files into the \Windows directory of the xda.
* Detach it from the craddle and run the EXE on it.
* It says things in german (performing upgrade) and then a final status (whatever "erfolreich", ie successful). Click OK and finally, reboot the device.
* You now have a 3.23.11 RSU.
Once again, thanks a lot to all participants to this forum and especially hb88xx.
And thanks also for the remark below
Regards,
Bob.
Hey mate ...
It's great that you have learned this lesson, but now you may cause troubles to some unexperienced users by posting this file with this name
Simply, what you have posted is the typical RSU upgrade 4 files you should find in ANY RSU exe file, but because you posted this file with the name RSU_Fix, I 'm afraid some one will just use it with a B device thinking it will solve his problem and endup with a dead RSU.
So, plz remove this file or rename it RSU_3_23.zip or so

Hi BobMorane.
I am having the same problem as yours, upgraded to WM2003 and can't go back to ppc2002.
Sounds like You have reverted your xda rom to ppc2002, didn't you?
Don't quite understand those that listed in your post. Could you explain a little more?
Thanks.

XDA1 bootloader v5.17
Hi bob,
I'm a little confused - I understand RSU 4.21 is for 900/1800. It is the RSU that o2asia currently distributes.
My XDA is a PW10A1 and currently has RSU4.21 (from o2asia), Wallaby 5.17 (no idea where it came from... am guessing o2asia as well) and T-mobile WM2003 4.01.16 ENG (.EXE cooked from Lumpistefans)
As a result, I'm stuck as well. However, I can still use my phone on GSM900/1800; as long as I avoid settings-phone-band; all is well; but if I do wander into that, a reset to the bootloader-calander-gsm900/1800 solves the problem (albit temporary...)
Anyway, I'm meeting up with a friend to borrow a SD card+reader over this weekend or the next, so that I can change the ROM (get out of theT-mobile WM2003 rut). Am a little concerned about what you wrote however:

Could you please eleborate more on how the wallaby patch didn't work? How did downgrading the RSU to 3.23.11 help? Are you able to replace your T-mobile ROM or Wallaby 5.17 following that? Or are you still stuck, but at least the phone works on GSM900/1800?
More information please?
Hi,
Some anwers below.
RaymondB :
Actually, I didn't revert to PPC202 and I still enjoy the 2003 features, but I managed to get rid of a 900/1900 issue.
xdagirl :
My problem was slightly different as I did not have the RSU4.21 for asian devices. My aim with the post was more to explain how to get out of the original T-Mobile rom lock-in (I did not use a cooked one because of my 5.17 wallaby). I assume you can do it as well with the asian RSU4.21. If you have it, I can try it and let you know.
As for the 5.17 wallaby issue, I was stuck in the midst of 2 issues : the 5.17 doesn't let you access the SD card method and you need first to downgrade it to 5.15. The patch to do this can't be used if you have installed a T-Mobile rom as it blocks the connection. I couldn't get around this and that's the reason I upgraded to the offical TMO rom.

Thanks for your reply, Bob.
So you are still with WM2003. Is this the new official one or the buggy one that you've had earlier. If its the new one, how did you do the flashing?
Did you downgrade the bootloader to v5.15?
I really wish to go back to ppc2002, as the current one seems to be quite unstable. At times, it reset itself, especially when some changes was made to some particular today plugin. It also turn on itself, which eat away the precious battery power. Also, the phone setting function and the band switching utilities will hard reset the xda.
Sorry for so much bugging. Hope your could help.
Thanks and cheers.

XDA1 bootloader v5.17
Hello everyone,
I have on order a o2 xda neo, I was told by the salesman that
the manual and os were in english.
I have now found out that the neo is a german version of the
i mate jamin. I feel very stupid.
What does this mean in real life terms? Will it have a german
interface that I can't read? will I have to flash the os?
anyone?
thanks,
Chance
O2 XDA Neo
Hi.
I have O2 XDA Neo too, it's one week now. It's from Germany so everything was completely german. I flashed the RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID.zip from here, it's english version.
But first, try to search for english localization of WM5. I you won't find it then flash the new ROM. The problem is, there is no solution to go back to O2 German ROM nowadays for IPL, SPL version 2.15.0001. You will surely get the new version. But in month or two, there will be tool to unlock the phone to be able to flash lower versions of ROMs. Read the forum, it's priceless source of information.
Thank you Median for your reply, I have heard many horror
stories about flashing ROM,but if I have to I will, So what your saying is
the ROM on the OS is different from the WM5 and that I have to flash both.
I appreciateyou taking the trouble to answer me.
chance
The file is the Dopod's ROM, it's newer version then O2's and includes english WM5. Flashing was abslolutely no problem on my Neo. It takes about 10-15 mins to flash. Some say 30 mins, but for me it was quick. And the best thing you can do when flashing ROM - don't watch it, it doesn't like it. You know, it's intimate time for the device

1) Do you have to CID unlock your Prophet before flashing to the Dopod Rom?
2) What was your SPL / IPL prior to flashing?
3) Does flashing change your SPL / IPL?
4) I have Orange SPV M600 with IPL 2.10.0001 / SPL 2.10.0001 and someone told me that i need to CID unlock first to be able to flash ROMs.
Is this true?
5) Also i do not see the M600 original ROM available for download, how do i go back to orange ROM if need be? Will it be possible if orange made their ROM available for download?
Pls help.
I've just flashed my O2 Neo bought in Germany, ver. 2.09.0001. I used the ROM available in the forum,
RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID
and it worked FINE. GREAT! I bought the telephone unlocked in Germany from O2, didn't needed to unlock CID. My GSM card from my brazil operator worked fine. Wifi too.
Thanks, I will try the Portuguese ROM now.
I have a question, if I flash the O2 neo to english version, the home-zone function will be lost or not?
It will be Lost but u can install the homezone needed files from the ext.rom afterwards. These Files should be available on the ftp Server.
AND:
I did also upgrade my German O2-XDA NEO to the mentioned Dopod rom - And you can also go back to the (older) Neo Rom later.
I do not know why but it is possible to downgrade from Dopod to the newest O2 rom, maybe because both are 2.15.x.x.?!

Wlan affected by new rom ?
Hello.
I own a german MDA compact 3 - without wlan.
Now I have two questions :
a) does your MDA have Wlan ?
Does it work ?
b) If you flash another rom,
is the wlan affected ?
Regards,
Karlheinz aka forgotten_soul
@forgottensoul,
i flashed my hero(no wlan module) with the orig dopod p800w rom from the wiki a couple of weeks ago. ..and no, sorry to say, but even though the p800w software comes with all thats needed for wlan, wlan does not work once i flashed it.

At the moment I can only give you an answer to your first question: Yes, in the Netherlands the MDA Compact III is sold with a working Wlan.
The second question is a little bit more difficult for me to answer. I am waiting until someone in this thread confirms that it is possible to flash alternative ROM's, preferably HTC ROM's, into the device. At the moment I have a phone with the OS in the Dutch language but I prefer an English one.

sorry for the pun, but seems reading is a little difficult for some too!
i am running a rom from a vendour manufacturing a machine with wlan, as i stated a message earlier! there is no wlan possible with it! in addition there is a thread in this forum where a hero has been opened and a wlan module could not be found! how much longer do you want to wait till your horse can fly?
and once more, once you cid-unlock your machine, you can install all compatible roms from other manufacturers, i.e. a wwe rom (english) to a german machine!

Hi, i recently got this MDA II from a friend and finally succeeded in updating it to WM5 and ROM Version 1.72xxxxx T-Mobile (can't remember all the Numbers).
It work's perfectly for everything i wanted it for (Navi, etc.), except for phone calls. After entering the PIN it just says: Searching or No Service.
I tried a SIM from T-Mobile Austria (from where the MDA comes), and also one from Hutchinson Austria (3) - Same Prob. I also tried to unlock it with the unlock tool located on this frorum. I got no error but it told me that the phone already seems to be unlocked.
It's not a big deal for me because i never intended to use it as a phone replacement, but somehow it's bothering me a bit.
I don't know if the ROM upgrade from 1.6xxx to 1.72xxx is the Problem. To tell the true i don't even know from where I got this newer ROM. The only thing i know it was not from T-Mobile Austria.
I already found a Version from T-Mobile Austria (RUU16008GER_TMobile), but this Version is very old and I don't know if it's worth the risk of downgrading.
Can someone please give me an advice on what to do?
Thanks in advance
first of all then 1.66 and 1.72 are not wm5 roms at all they are just the last offical roms for these devices and they are wm2003 roms
second then they are roms not radiostacks (radiostacks are the software for the gsm module)
http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=132&func=select&id=26
list of various radeostacks
personaly i use 1.19
Thank you, as you can see i'm a total newbee to this topic.
Is there somwhere a detailed manual for upgrading the radiostacks?
HimaUpgradeUt.exe
upgrade
rom if nk.nbf is present in the dir
and
radiostack if Radio_.nbf is present in the dir
so if you want to upgrade the radiostack along with the rom
one just make sure both of the files are present in the dir
if one wish to upgrade 1 of the 2 simply remove the other nbf file
same deal with extended rom
Thank you
Ok, i tried the 1.19 Radio Stack together with the Hima_-_Helmi_AKU3.5_ROM_SP2 ROM.
The update progress proceeded fine but i still have the same problem.
edit: Wow after 5 Minutes i've got a connection with A1 (right now i'm trying a Hutschinson SIM witch connects via GPRS automatically to A1)
Ok, i tried Roms Stack 1.19, 1.17 and 1.08.
On some certain locations i get a signal, but in general the signal is very poor.
I'm not shure but maybe the couse of the problem is the phones hardware itself, and not the software?
maybe
dont know about where you live but here i dont have too many issues
but the htc phones i had have in general had a poor signal then nokia and the likes
and poor conversation quality
you could try giving other sim cards a go as some older sims have had issues with htc phones in the past
I just wanted to inform everyone that you where right (again ).
Today i tried a newer Prepaid SIM from A1.
Now i get a full Signal from everywere in my house.
Hi all, I've received a really deal good for a Softbank X01HT. I was wondering if like the other Hermes, the only difference in this unit is the button layout and OS language. If I upgrade to any other Hermes ROM will it function like a regular Hermes? Thank you for replies.
Yes, basically it will work as long as you have your device SIM / CID unlocked.
I say 'basically' because of I found some incompatibilities on my HERMES (a AT&T 8525). It does not accept the German T-Mobile ROM and also not the ORANGE CH. Other than that I did not get any problems.
You might wanna read the HERMES UPGRADE sections in the WIKI first? That should get you started!
Thanks for your quick reply Junner, I appreciate it
Another question has arisen; the unit I'm getting is in english language, so presumably a different ROM has been flashed to it. Does this mean that the phone is now SIM unlocked? Or does Softbank have english versions of their phones as well? Mine will be a white one, not sure when it was manufactured.
Hello,
If its already in English then chances are that it was flashed with a WM5 English ROM. If you're lucky, then the phone could be SIM unlocked, but ROMs can be flashed if the phone is Super CIDed... The white edition models were made after Softbank issued an update for all their phones..
My bet is that your phone is Super CIDed.. but heck, you'll never know these days, you could get lucky and have it SIM unlocked!
Softbank do have english versions of their phones, but the X01HT is just one of their exceptions...
I'm using the Black X01HT flashed with a WM6 Rom.. and its great! You won't be dissapointed!
Hey nesy, thanks for the heads up. I've got the phone in my hands, it works great. It's been flashed with some version of WM6, not sure which flavour. And it's goot IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40.Olipro. My guess is that this was unlocked by imei-check, and it must be SuperCID too. Will be sure once I probe the internals with mtty. My only concern now is whether if I'm able to upgrade the radio, since I've read reports of some people being unable to flash over radio 1.14.something.
Is there really a downside to being stuck at radio 1.14 found in the Softbank phones? If so, what are they? Improved reception? stability?
well my softbank phone was at radio 1.14, I was able to upgrade it without any problems to 1.50.... you dont really have to upgrade, but I found that any version above 1.2 had better battery life...
I have a X01 that I just bought with a Chinese ROM (I am currently in China) and it was already unlocked. I had no problems putting an English Rom on. Be sure to change the keyboard layout to Japanese, I had mine set to Chinese for a while and 2 buttons were different.
Question: What are the advantages to upgrading the radio? Can anyone provide a link that explains how to upgrade / advantages to upgrading?

I also just upgraded to 1.41... I use the method that temporarily Super-Cids it. But dont ask me how that works because I have no idea.
Could you link me or PM me with how you did that? All the wikis stated that I can't upgrade the radio to anything else because of the bootloader. And I tried it too, the radio ROM gets flashed, but upon reboot, the same old version number is shown. Thanks in advance.

Hey dude, there are many advantages to upgrading the radio.. especially if you're still at 1.14... For instance, in Japan and China, the networks are UMTS here... although radio 1.14 gives satisfactory reception, higher versions improve this as well as enabling HSDPA (higher 3G download speeds) . The battery management is improved, and currently I'm using radio version 1.48 (1.50 was a battery sucker when using WM6)
you should read this before upgrading the radio:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
and read under 'Upgrading and Cooking'
and to flash the radio you HAVE to install Hard SPL.. this is a modified bootloader for the hermes.. and also it prevents it from bricking when you upgrade the ROM or radio.
Get it and the guide here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27
Finally,
Go here:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
and choose what Extracted Radio ROM that you want to install. Download it, run the EXE file and run through the program wizard.
After the radio has been uploaded to your device, it should reboot and you'll hopefully see some improvement!
Also another thing, be sure to search the forums, there are many great guides here, much better than my attempt
Hopefully that answers your question Pasan, you could try to do the method mentioned above by courtlandre which is to temporarily SuperCID it, but I didn't use that, i ended up unlocking my phone and SuperCID'ed it... so that my upgrade process will always be stress-free

I am using SPL 1.10 I think (wiki or a sticky will have instructions on how to install this).
Then I just downloaded the radio rom and installed it. Worked fine with no problems.
Thanks neshyd, I once tried upgrading to HardSPL 2.30 but it didn't work, upon reboot it was still on 1.40.olipro. This phone was unlocked by the imei-check people and they may have done something to prevent future SPL upgrades.

I guess you guys have older Softbanks, mine is a post April 07 model which does not allow the radio to be upgraded
