Anyone know the dimensions needed for the gooseneck to fit in a 510 atomizer? I'd love this for my lavatube to give it more relaxing hold to cape.

Phone signal strength problems - anyone else had problems

I have moved from a Nokia 7610 to a Wizard (on O2). I have fallen in love with it for all sorts of reasons.
The major hassle so far is signal strength. I'm not sure if I have a dud phone? For the last month I have run the Nokia and Wizard in parallel. I am constantly finding myself out of range or with one bar of signal. The phone doesn't function reliably with a single bar. Most irritating is that this happens at home also. (The nokia was on O2 also).
If there is not a solution to this I may have to go back to the nokia and accept what I was trying to avoid - having to carry a phone and a PDA.
Thanks - Kneale
do you have another pda phone you can run it against?
reason i ask is dont forget that nokia phones have more bars than the jams do
so for instance, 8 bars in nokia (full) would be eqiv to 5 bars in the jam (full) if that makes sense
ignore the numbers at the top, i dont know the exact number of bars
Thanks. No - I don't have another PDA phone. I realise there is a difference in number of signal bars. I'm simply not getting a good enough signal in to make it functional as a phone.
I work as a doctor and need a 100% reliable phone more than a PDA. Just beginning to get into all the software / music / video / etc. aspects of it however. Would find it hard to give up now!
Kneale
Dont expect this phone is going to have premium reception... the only phone I found exceptional is Sony Ericsson Z600 so far...
People said 1.12.0 GSM firmware would have better reception. You might try to upgrade your ROM. I think O2 provided latest official firmware as well, so you might wanna test with it.
Yes - my cda is the same. My SE 700i has a far better reception. The O2 seems to fall out of range alot - I have to out it into flight mode on then off!
I also posted a while ago that the signal strength is pretty poor. Never had much trouble with my nokia but in a few places eg work im pretty much on the 1 bar and have lost the signal on one occasion.
Thanks for this. Finally got so irritated with it that today I visited the O2 shop and then spoke to the on-line customer service. Both were very good.
Bottom line is that they are sending me out a replacement to try in case I have a dud. I'll let you know how I get on.
Kneale
i think i will need to retract what i said!
for the last 24 hours, my reception goes down and then nothing, just the dots
have to go into flight mode then out and i get my bars back
Of cource, about signal stregth, nokia is the best.
But you can improve signal stregth of your pda phone by switching it to manual network searching mode.
Go to phone/ settings/ networks/ manual.

It doesn't, but it can speed up the re-acquisition of cell (i.e. less search time).

Bad Phone Quality

I am getting poor phone quality at my house. My house is in a very bad area for cell usage, however I was able to take calls with my Blackberry. With my 8525 I am getting 2 bars on the G meter, but people can not hear me.
I have the standard Cingular ROM and Radio running.
Any suggestions or fixes?
I have been reading and reading and think I may benefit from an upgrade, however, all the links to download DO NOT WORK, and I can not get access to the ftp site.
Help please!
Problem corrected by more reading. I loaded a band switch. My service was working fine on 2G.
hi, what is bandswitch?

i am about to buy the 3g touch HTC... right now i have I-PHONE 3G .
well.. iphone gps is only working when at least gsm signal is avilable.
may be this is because it is a AGPS not GPS...
as far as i know AGPS need 2 gsm tower signal + sat to find your location.
or 1 tower+wifi network+sat to get your location..
while the GPS like the old nokia fones. need to get 3 sat to get your position..
at the end.. if u are in the desert where notheing there,,, would 3G touch HTC find your location.??
by the way iphone will not find your location where there is no gsm signal...
please help.

Signal Problems

Hey ive had the HD2 for a little under 3 weeks now and i struggle to actually find a signal on the device.
According to voda my area has full 3g network coverage and when i tested my sim in my old N97 i indeed recieved a full signal.
I've sent many emails to both voda and htc but none have been replied too.
I was just wondering if this was just me or is anyone else finding problems recieving a signal also?
and if so is the a fix for this at all?
any info would be appreciated
Hi there,
What radio do you have on your device? To find this out reboot the phone and watch the screen carefully at the bottom.
Get yourself a pen and paper and write down the series of numbers that comes up starting with R. Once we know that ....
Also being in Macclesfield, are you in a low signal area or dead signal patch? Used to happen to me a lot when I was in oop there.
WB
R - 2.05.51. 05~2
(~ because it was a squiggily line lol)
and no i get full coverage when i put it into my other phone so thats why im lost =/
and thx
Im going to flash the radi rom of this now and see if that works =)
i laughed so much when it came up with the "we hacked it" screen XD
*update*
ok i have actually picked up my 3g signal but its only 1 bar, but I HAVE A SIGNAL!!!
Good news! You have already gone down the route I was going to suggest.
WB
Ah i see well i wouldnt of thought of it if you hadn't asked for my radio version =)
thanks for the help much appreciated

Please don't create multiple threads. You've already created a thread about Temple Run not working, so why not just post it there?
As long as you're getting H you should be OK. I barely ever get 3G either, I'm normally on H. From my understanding, this is effectively 3.5G.
sorry I figured they were two different topics therefore 2 different thread.

Mine shows 3G but the second i start using data and see the little arrow things it switches to H. H being HSDPA which yes is like 3.5G Now i do wanna know what the difference between G and E is... i would like to comment on G i get ~300 kbps and on E i get like 100kbps. So its faster but i guess my question is what determines it to use G over E and vice versa. At first i thought it was signal strength but according to spare parts the signal strength (dB value) is the same on both.

I knew what E was, but i didnt know what G was. And GPRS sounds about right. From what ive read its a part of the 2G 3G network. Thanks for the info. But what determines if the phone uses Edge or G?

Your network strength determines it. If the phone gets low signal on HSPDA then it will try to switch to EGPRS, and if it can't get a good signal on that then it will go to GPRS.

Look up a few posts, ive already thought this was the deterent. But as posted a few posts ago, according to Spare parts, my single strength stays the same. Its strange. I prefer G cause its like 20 times faster then Edge xP so im trying to see if i can force it to use G instead of E since my signal strength stays the same i dont see how i couldnt.
have "H", why want "3G"?
H is 3.5G
signal changes depending on the strength, I mostly get H but it fluctuates like if you in a bus moving around different places. You can set the phone just to use G 2G signal if you wish
But for me It continues to mess up. Everytime I open the playstore data turns off and it goes on and off all of the time. Also the connectivity to simple mobile goes off and on all the time. I am really starting to regret getting simple mobile
it depends on bandwidth available in your cell, so if network doesn't have BW for you on higher type of network you contracted with (4G, 3.5) it switches to lower type (gprs which is 2.5G)
Does anybody know how simple mobile works with Porting a number over to them. I'm using "NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA_V2.5.zip" ROM (by Tytung) for my HD2, and I just called simple mobile and ported my number over. They said it could take up to 24 hours, but does that mean that I can't even call out or see a network until then? Please help me if you know? Thanks.

simple mobile runs off the tmobile network...they are just resellers using/selling tmobile bandwidth. i have no issues with my data connection...why not just use your wifi...much faster than even 3g. it can even be an issue with your android build-or your phone setup. doh!.

doesn't matter who whcih carrier....you are in limbo during porting. mine took only about 12 hrs. you'll see a network but can't use your phone until your imei/phone is registered to the new network. doesn't matter what your phone os is neither. porting time depends on how quickly your old carrier disconnects you and your new carrier connects you. works the same way with any phone number.
Thanks. When I got up and checked my phone this morning, I had my number and calls worked.
