This problen occurred during routine use, the system was reset wiped and the SD card disabled (impact512) which despite many hours of trying recovery (easy Recovery pro) and a PPC recovery tool all failed to restore or recover the data.
Has anybody else using the XDaII suffered this issue and if so can you advise how it was rescuedplease?
I think I've seen something about hitting the red text in the lower right corner 5x after a soft reset?? anyone know anything about this?how it works?
why it works?
when it works?
what does it achieve?
Many Thanks to those of you who offered assistance Ezz Khyatt in particular.

Hi All,
I have HTC Wizard with TNT os WM6.1
Few days back my memory card stoped working on my mobile and was working fine on my laptop. Thus I decided to format the card so that it will be working fine back.
For formating the card I wrongly selected the option as "Clear Storage" which actually got my mobile to go for a Hard Reset.
Now I lost my whole data stored in my mobile. Can anyone please help me to get my data back.
My Imp data was in MyDocument folder + Notes and contact.
Notes and My Document are very important.
Please help me.
Thanks in Advance.

Hey, did you find a solution?? :-O
:-(
Here's the solution!
I just spent 2 days trying out all kinds of data recovery software and techniques in an attempt to recover sensitive data from HTC Herald (T-mobile Wing) after a hard reset.
Here's what worked:
Raise Data Recovery - ufsexplorer.mobi
It looks like it was meant to recover deleted files, but I was able to recover most of the 'My Documents' files using it.
Data recover after reset
Hi
I have reset my mobile SAMSUNG GT-I9100
lost photos vedios
Can i recover my data please suggest
Thanx and advise
data recovery
you can easily recover data from any phone using a data recovery software. flash drives in these phone are no different then SSD drive. just make sure the software you are using is compatible with OD of your phone. Like for IPhone you need mac recovery tool but for all others windows recovery will work just fine.

Have searched the forum and couldn't find any discussion about a similar problem to what i'm having with my phone. This is super weird.
I'm on an official B928 rom. It started some time ago. Whenever i reboot my phone it "resets" to a particular state. Which means - everything i do with my phone before a reboot gets reversed back to a particular state at which my phone "froze". If i delete sms, they come back, if i install programs they are gone, if i uninstall programs - they come back and so on..
I've tried to flash B928 and B552, but i always get an error at the second stage (have tried all possible combinations - with/without the battery, formatting the card). Pink screen is blocked - can't unblock it, because my phone deletes the necessary files after reboot. Can't install CWM for the same reason.
Is that it? I'm out of ideas. If anyone can throw any idea at me or direct me in the right direction i would be very grateful.
Thank you
reboot recovery
advance menu
format /data
take a look if it help
I only have the standard recovery, not cwm, it doesn't have advanced menu.
But even if i try the wipes in it, it does nothing, meaning it doesn't even delete my data.
Thanks
I'm having the same issue with my u8800-51. My thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2331209 but no suggestions therein have helped, yet.
Ok, i see. I've seen some people restoring their phones with Acronis, but for this you need a working pink screen, which is a no-go for me..
Hello,
I may have bricked my phone but I'm open to suggestions of possible solutions.
I upgraded to lollipop and everything was working great, I decided to try out the encryption functionality and now it doesn't boot...
It gives me an error screen saying that encryption failed, perform a factory reset. I have done so and it still won't turn on...
Since I have done a ADB push rom.zip to it and that didn't work.
Tried both TWRP and CWM to factory reset...
Do you guys have any other ideas?
Thanks
Anthony
Solved
I did end up finding a solution, thought it would be nice to share just in case someone else has the same problem.
Flashing to CM12 actually worked and got me through but I wasn't happy being limited to CM12 because when I flashed back to the rom it had the same issue.
I flashed to a standard rom from Samsung and used it's factory recovery menu to do the reset and that worked
I recently flashed my GT-i9506 and installed CyanogenMod. After finishing, the back and menu buttons (more often the menu button) kept getting pressed with the backlight on and vibrations too without me touching them. The weird thing is that while I was trying to fix it by going to various recovery modes after constantly switching the problem happened there too. The screen was recently replaced but I don't recall this happening at all on the stock ROM after the repairment.
Here's what happened:
I used Heimdall to flash TeamWin recovery but kept getting a common problem with PIT files while in download mode (can't post links because I'm a new user)
I compiled SaburoJiro's Heimdall fork as suggested and that seemed to fix the issue. TeamWin recovery was flashed succesfully.
I flashed the official CyanogenMod rom for gt-i9506 following the instructions on their wiki page. Everything seemed to work fine up until the point where the OS started up.
What I tried:
Tried various recovery images including TeamWin and ClockworkMod Recovery. The problem happens on both.
Used both Odin and Heimdall to flash.
Factory resets and cache clearing
A temporary solution is to enable the on screen navbar, which disabled the hardware keys which were causing the problem. The keys still keep lighting up while the screen is on but they don't do anything.
Is there any way to restore the phone beyond recovery mode (which this seems to happen in too)? I'm pretty sure this isn't a hardware issue.

It's 100% a hardware issue. No software would cause this and even then it also happens in recovery. It's impossible to have the same behavior in recovery and in normal android without it being a hardware issue.

I think Lennyz knows best but did you erased the internal storage too while doing a factory reset?
I've got some strage issues after I flashed a ROM and I could resolve it when I erased the internal storage too on factory reset.

Okay, I guess something went wrong when the screen was repaired. I'll call the company that fixed it later. Is there no possible way that any software can enable these buttons?

I factory reset a couple of times using both ClockworkMod and TeamWin. It still kept all the images from the camera though. How would you erase all internal storage using ClockworkMod? Format /system? Or perharps just /data and /storage/sdcard1? Asking since I don't want to brick my phone by doing something I shouldn't be doing.

For CWM I do not know..
I use TWRP and there you can select what should be wiped under "advanced wipe".
You can select system, boot, data, cache and internal storage.
If you got TWRP use this!
Note that everything on your phone will be deleted including custom recovery.
You'll have to flash it again via Odin afterwards.
Then flash the ROM and Gapps via custom recovery.
I do not know whether this will solve the problem because it really could be a hardware issue as Lennyz said..
Maybe you should wait with that after the company repaired it again.

It's possible but not in your case. There is no software booted when you are in the recovery except the recovery itself.
@SwoodGrommet
Could you figure it out?
So recently (like 2 hours ago), my phone started acting like it wasn't on the cricket network anymore. I've rebooted. Taken things out and reinserted them. Nothing works. So I figured I would just hard reset my phone. So I get through the process of getting it to the recovery booting screen only to find out that something WON'T LET ME FACTORY RESET MY PHONE!!! I am frustrated beyond belief and I just want to be able to use my phone. Can anyone please please help me? I am afraid I have a virus or someone is trying to hack my device/already has

What do you mean it wont let you factory reset, what happens when you try it?
Sent from my Galaxy S5 using XDA Labs
Sounds like recovery might be corrupted if it doesn't let you into recovery
Or does it enter recovery? Need a bit more detail about what's actually happening, instead of "Something won't let it reset"
Flash a stock ROM back over the top to repair recovery/system etc and try resetting again
