Hello all. I am an owner of a 9000 and would love to have the ability to lock my device just as all the Wizards do with the little lock Icon in their displays.
I was wondering, could anyone of you guys find this Device Lock.exe inside the Windows Folder, extract it and give it to us? I'm not sure if it would work but I would love to find out
Thank you
Sorry Mythozz, I have been searching my device for the .exe that is responsible for that plug-in, but I have been unable to find it. I wanted to bind it to a hard button, so i don't have to keep the plug-in on the today screen, but there is no file to be found that has anything to do with this plug-in. So I cannot get and upload it for you.
I found a file in my Windows folder that seems to be responsible for this.
It's called KeylockTray.exe.
I found it with Resco Explorer (settings set to display ALL files).
I'll also add the Dutch .htm file that goes with the .exe
That is NOT the right app! It only enables an icon in the tray, that shows wheter or not the keys will be locked once you push the power button to turn the device into sleep mode. Tapping on the icon changes the state from locking buttons and screen to unlocking them and vice versa. For instance: If the icon has a red circle through it, your keys will be locked on power off. tapping it removes the circle and keys and screen are unlocked. if you put the device in sleep mode, any button or screen press will turn it on again. That has the same function as somewhere in the start-settings menu. It does NOT enable the today plug-in to lock screen and buttons while playing mp3 etc. I use MortSaver (www.sto-helit.de) to lock screen and buttons while playing mp3. If you start WMP and use the keylocktray.exe, then push the power button, the device goes into sleep mode and mp3 playback is suspended.
I think it know the plugin you mean and I have it on my wizard (o2 rom) but I can't find a lockdevice or devicelock .exe under \windows?
Any ideas? I'd love to use the same plugin on my jasjar
/me too

Your're right my friend... It is really a shame we can't use this feature. I use my 9000 with the screen on the outside as a PDA and I could surely use it...
I will keep on checking this thread in case a miracle happens and someone finds something...

'Cause it's not an .exe, it's shutil.dll you want.
Aha, so that is the right file. But how to make a shortcut to it to bind it to a hardware button? not se easy I think? Or does anyone have any idea on how to implement it?
Guys I got a fix go here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3910011&postcount=5

Is there a way to lock the touch screen? Perhaps with PQz or another third party software, could I map a button (like the screen back light button) to toggle lock/unlock the screen?
Otherwise, I can't find a way to use the media player in portrait mode (screen facing outwards) unless I put Universal in a case.
I tried searching the Universal forum for screen lock, but could not find the solution. Thx.
In the meantime, I have mapped the backlight button to toggle the screen when using TCPMP.
In Media Player, it seems my only options are to map one of the d-pad controls to toggle the screen.
I think VJEschaton will toggle the screen for you. Don't know if that's what you want. I'm working on some updates to that app...

Thanks! I'll check it out.
Would DeltaLock be any good?? (get it from here: http://www.freewareppc.com/). It might lock the buttons too though.
Will WMP or TCPMP not play with the screen closed then?? (not tried this yet).
Never heard of DeltaLock, but thanks for the tip.
Frankly I have not tried with the screen closed, because I want to play the media with the screen facing up. (I don't want to have to keep opening and closing the device any time I want to change music, etc.) In any case, I found that both TCPMP and WMP can map buttons to toggle the screen on/off which essentially accomplishes my main goal --no accidental touches. But only TCPMP let me map commands to the screen backlight button. WMP, as far as I know, only lets me map commands to the D-pad.
I'll still have a look at VJEschaton and DeltaLock though to see if they offer any advantages for my needs.
hi wondering if you guys could help please. im trying to use windows media player with the screen turned off but when i play my music and then use the power button to turn the screen off my music stops. im using the power button because i have not got the key board on. thanks in advance
try a freeware called screenOff it's turn screen Off but all other things are still working
thanks works great
you could also just go into the buttons tab under options in media player and set a button for toggle screen right at the bottom

Exactly...most media players have this function built in. If yours doesn't give MortPlayer a try. It's nice and has this feature built in. I don't like the default theme with MortPlayer as it's ugly so I just installed the MyPod theme and it looks great.
Just download the app here

You can get the skins from the zip archive here (go to the Old Skins link at the top)

Is there a way I can enable/disable bluetooth through one of the hard buttons on the mogul. The messaging or the windows botton for instance. I just hate to go to the comm manager everytime I want to enable/disable the bluetooth. I don't also want to drain my battery by leaving it on all the time.
This won't do it via a button, but PhoneAlarm can do it based on profile and some PA skins also have a soft button on the screen.
AEButton Plus works very well for that too. Very handy lil prog!
There are lots of tiny little bluetooth toggle exe's out there you can find via google. I got one of those and then mapped my PIE hard button's press and hold feature to execute it, works great. Did the same with a vibrate toggle exe program on the messaging hard button.

Can u plz let me know what's the name of the one u got, and do i go about setting it up. does it come with instructions on how to map the hard bottons? I appreciate the help.
AEbutton is nice, but is always running in the background. Vijay has created a small utility called VJvolubilis that can control BT (and radio as well). Download his app (http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis), and copy the shortcut he's already created for you inot your \windows\start menu folder, then go to Settings > Personal > buttons to assign a button to this shortcut--bam!
OK that's a terrible title for a thread, but wouldn't it make sense if touching the wifi icon on the task bar toggled wifi and touching the bluetooth icon toggled bluetooth. They should have placeholders and be accessible all the time without the comm manager
Yeah trying to hit those with your finger is tough and then having to hit comm manager. It takes like 5 button presses to turn it off/on through spb panel too. I don't like the SE panels, but they have a wifi toggle why can't the spb one have that?
Phoneweaver will give you what yout after.
That's good, but I think access to these functions should be from anywhere (any app / any panel) at any time. The only constant across all of that is the task bar and the hardware keys. Right now I have comm manager assigned to a key.
phonealarm also lets you turn on bluetooth or wifi by touch the icon.
Both of the Sony Ericsson Panels allow you to enable/disable Wifi and Bluetooth on the main screen.
but these aren't task bar icons, these are desktop icons. Access is therefore only from the desktop
AE Button Plus "extends functionality of hardware keys on Windows Mobile devices", so you can for example set double clicking the green button activate/deactivate WiFi, and a long press to do the same for bluetooth.
Another good way is to assign Comm Manager to a key, as suggested before.
I have left soft key set to comm manager, 2 clicks for wifi, phone, bluetooth et al.
