I am using my MDA II since October and since there I had several serious crashes.
Without any visible sign, the device goes in this "unknown sim status", becoming unable to perform any operation but wait for hours.
From phone, select "options" and the device is blocked.
The only remedy is to use the reset button several times (it can take a while before having the device restarted).
Doing this I also lost everything was stored.
I don't know if this is a common problem or I am so lucky to have something exceptional, but this device is to me not stable nor reliable.
ROM version: 1.52.00WWE
ROM date : 10/2":à"
Radio version: 10513AO
Protocol: 1337.13Q
ExtROM: 1.52.06
Poor SIM contacts???
I had a similar message a while back. In my case it was a dirty connection on the contacts on my SIM card. Basically the phone can't find the SIM any more. When the same SIM was in my SE T68i phone it would go into the "Emergency Calls Only" mode.
Pull out the battery and jiggle the SIM card and see if that helps.
I asked my provider for a new SIM and it has solved the problem. However, for people like me who (a) swap SIMS regularly (there are some times when carrying an XDA just won't suit), or (b) use their phones in a vibrating environment, poor and worn SIM card contacts are a fact of life.
Hope this helps.

Hello.
I have had this problem for a few months, and found it deep within one of the many random freeze posts (posted by elivne).

So .. in case there are other user having this problem like I had.. I am posting this and adding it to the wiki.
Applies only if you use a 2G/2.5G SIM card.
The phone will freeze with a "virgin" system, with no 3rd party software.
The LEDs keep blinking.
Network remains connected altough you can not answer.
There is no way to wake up the device without soft reset.
To me, this happend daily.
Solution!
Use a 3G USIM card!
Might also be solved by upgrading to new 2G SIM Cards (not verified).
LOL
sorry for laughing, but I just think it's funny that someone'd just continue on with a 2/2.5G SIM card with a 3.5G device when there was a 3/3.5G service available! hehe
Its funny alright...
But the joke is on us!
In Israel , with an Operator named Cellcom, when you upgrade to 3G you HAVE to buy a WAP data package which is pretty useless.
Secondly , the network is relativly new , so reception is very bad.
I got the 3G USIM but still use 2G/GPRS.
Some operators in the Netherlands, e.g. T-Mobile, do not hand out USIMs at all, although they offer UMTS and HSDPA. We just keep using our usual 2G sims with the 3G network and it works like a charm. It is really an operator choice and not necessary at all to hand out USIMs.
I experience similar problems. Could happen several times a day, or could a week or two without problems. Have tried to re-flash ROMs, and upgrade ROM's. Tried with "virgin" setup with no 3rd party sw - all with the same result.
The phone is only a couple of months old, and so is the SIM card.
How can I find out if I have a usim card, or 3G/2G card?
I have also experienced a lot of problems dialing/receving calls lately. When dialing it will not actually get through, and after a while (perhaps 10-20 seconds) it will time out and disconnect. The problem is that it will disconnect from the network completely, and take a very long time to re-connect. Longer than normal - perhaps several minutes.
Could this be related?
PS. I'm with T-Mobile in the Netherlands, running on a HTC TyTN (Hermes200)
I have also the same probs with my device (MDAII TMobile with a USIM from 3 Austria), so the error isnt due to a 2g SIM...
I get random lockups, lites blinking, display ON, backlite OFF, all buttons including power locked, only soft reset restores. I have a new 3G sim.
I seem to see this more when the 8525 is on a charger, after receiving a call or message. I'll walk up and find it like this. On battery this seldom happens.
Your Welcome

Hello All,
I am using HTC touch for a while and would use different ROM versions quite often. Recently i put in the some ROM which event i don’t remember which one i started getting this error below. I checked and made sure that there is nothing in the SIM card i also put in the SIM in different Cell phone to make sure its blank. I also reverted the device to the Factory Image but still the same issue. There is no pattern on when i get this error it would some time come twice in 1 hour and some time it would be couple of hours. Once i get this error and select Ok my network will go to searching and often end up enable Flight Mode and then disabling it.
"SIM card full. The SIM card is full. You must remove some messages from your SIM card to receive incoming SIM messages."
Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jasjit
it will be necessary for you to call the carrier to locate a retail location near you that has a Cellebrite device... not all locations have one as they are quite expensive... using the Cellebrite it is possible to wipe/edit your SIM...
this happens sometime with my device also.
but in my case i just clean simcard and reinsert it.
may be u have faulty simcard or sim socket .
Hopefully someone can provide me with an anwser or any other form of help
Problem: No Internet signal, I do got the calling signal. When I have no signal for a while, the phone turns off and immediately on.
If I want to get the signal back I have to restart, set the phone's airplane mode on and off or de-select and select the APN name (provider).
Idea's: It seems like the phone doesn't automatically try to find the network back. And when it tries it shuts off.
Tried: I tried the following:
- Replacing the battery
- Trying another sim card, this worked so prob. sim card?(also from another provider)
- Factory reset from menu
- Factory reset from boot menu
- Checked the APN network
Background information: The phone is two years old and was always used with a Vodafone Sim card. It worked perfectly and had no issues. Since a few days I gave the phone to my father and he has a Ziggo (dutch retailer) sim card. With the new sim card from Ziggo the problems started.
The phone also has never been rooted, damaged or something else thats out of the order.
Phone information:
Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 (was on the cover)
Android-version: 5.0.1
Baseband-version: I9505XXUHOD5
Kernel version: 3.4.0-3995895
[email protected] #1
Build number: LRX22C.I19505XXUHOD5
From your description it sounds as if the APN isn't properly set up, if set up at all. The APN information for the S4 can be found on Ziggo's website, here.
EDIT: According to you, the APN was checked. Compare your APN on the phone with what Ziggo recommends and let us know if they match?
Actually I need the instructions on:
ziggo.nl/klantenservice/mobiel/toestelhulp/#/samsung/i9505-galaxy-s-iv-lte/internet/choice_usecase/handmatig-instellen/ziggo-oud/5
because of different sim cards at Ziggo.
The settings according to the manual are the same as on the phone. Else I couldn't have any internet. I do got internet, but when it loses its connection the phone doesn't get any signal back.
I do checked it again and I have tried the other manual you posted. But it ain't succesful.
It is fixed now.
Apperently the sim card bugged in combination with the S4. I've got a new sim card from the same provider and that works great (till now).
Hi, I recently bought a new Yotaphone2 (YD206) taking advantatge of the Singles' day discounts, but I am having some trouble connecting to the mobile network.
Since I did not have a nanosim available from the beggining, I started by updating its ROM (I used the last Russian one, while keeping the Chinese radio) and then I rooted it. So far so good.
The thing is, after my microsim was cut into a nanosim (the guy at the mobile phone store did it, using one of these "staplers"), I inserted it in the tray but it is not recognized on the phone. On the screen you can read "No sim card - emergency calls only".
At first I thought it was the radio, and I even flashed it again. I also went back to the original chinese rom, with no success. I think it's not a radio problem, since I can get some statistics in the *#*#4636#*#* menu, but I am not a 100% certain. Of course, I've already tried rebooting, setting the airplane mode on and off, removing and inserting the sim again, etc. Apart from that, wifi, bluetooth and everything else work as expected.
The sim card works, because using a microsim adapter I can fit it in my Nexus 4 and it gets signal. There are three options here: either the radio is not properly configured/flashed, the phone is faulty or the sim has been wrongly cut.
Could you help me troubleshoot the problem?
Solved!
Solved! It was the sim card, it was not properly cut. I used some sandpaper so sand one edge that was a bit rough. I didn't even have to reboot, the phone asked for my pin inmediately. I'm using the last EU rom with the chinese radio.
Yay! Happy!
I have the same issue now and my yotaphone 2 was bought in China... I've tried the sim cards from two companies, both didn't work. I doubt I received a defective product.
I am using a Samsung S4 GT-i9505. I'm on MOBITEL (Slovenia) or as it is now called Telemach.
So my issue is the following:
Everytime i try to use any network mode other than (GSM only) my connection becomes Emergency calls only.
Issue started appearing after nearly 1.5 years of usage.
I occasionally get a Sim card Removed message, this issue was frequent after 1.5 years than it somehow stopped (nearly).
I checked my IMEI CERTI says NA. Though my IMEI is the same as the one on the box of my phone.
Thing that happend/I did:
My LCD screen got replaced, before that there was no issue.
Replaced sim card, replaced Sim tray (after the issue started reappearing), sometimes (on really rare occasions) 4G somehow works.
*I did have root on my phone
Multiple firmwares, currently a stock one from sammobile (5.0.1):
- AP_I9505XXUHOA7_CL3996895_QB3867680_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
- BL_I9505XXUHOA7_CL3996895_QB3867680_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
- CP_I9505XXUHOA7_CL3996895_QB3867680_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
- CSC_OXA_I9505OXAHOA7_CL3996895_QB3867680_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
All installed using Odin3 (v3.12.3)
Later I installed:
- GSM_Modem_I9505XXUHOE2_and_LTE_Modem_I9505XXUHOE2 which did not help either.
Thank you for your help.
If software doesn't resolve your issue, the only thing left is hardware. In your case, I don't believe the SIM card tray is the issue here, but the motherboard.
Have someone look at the device.
