No Wap After Upgrade - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hello,
I've just used the ROM Kitchen (york one) to upgrade my XDA I ROM to 4.00.05 ENG (Radio is 4.21.00 the latest one)
Everything went well except now that I have everything up and running again, I can't connect to WAP no matter what I do.
I use GSM since I have one of the old Genie SIMs that gives me completely free WAP access.
Phone and SMS both work fine but the Connection Window just says "Username and password are wrong" all the time. Although they're not.
It's dialling into the right genie number (+447712927927) and I'm using either "geniewap" + "password" or "o2wap" + "password"
The new ROM didn't give me a network config thingy this time, could it be something to do with that?
I also get a program load up on cold reboot startup called "HTC SAT" what is this? Is it something to do with my problem?
The other possiblility (Quite Likely) is that O2 are just being poo again (I used to have this problem very rarely before the upgrade). I will try again in the morning and post back if that is the case.
Ta for the help in advance.
Will

It's OK Now
Sorry, seems I was right and it was just O2 fixing something. It connects fine now.
In which case, what is the HTC app I mentioned in the previous post? What doe sit do?

TMobile Internet Settings

I have an unlocked Cingular 8125 that I am using on TMobile. I can't seem to figure out how to get my Data plan working on it. Can anyone explain what settings I need to change, i.e GPRS and MMS. Thanks.
For GPRS/EDGE setting in T-MO USA do the following:
Press start then go to settings then connections and then connections.
Then add new modem connection
Under select a modem pick cellular line. then click next.
Under phone number insert internet2.voicestream.com
no no no......internet2 will only cause problems later on.....here just do the following....
Hard Reset your device after which before it starts installing all of the cingular customization quickly soft reset (This is where it sayd installing applications in 3...2...1..)
After you soft reset just install the files in the order I have them listed saving the registry cab for the end. Once you have done all this press and hold the power button until it says "data loss can occur...blah blah balh" hit OK and the unit will switch off. When it switches off count 3 and just press the power buton one time to turn the unit back on.
You should be in the clear now.

What do you mean internet2 will cause problems later on? I used to use internet3 here in New York, then all of a sudden I could not connect to the internet using the GPRS unless I was in say Washington, DC. Upon on reading something in a chatroom regarding various settings, I saw the internet2 specified, and switched the official tmobile cab set network obtained from club imate from internet3 to internet2 and it has worked ever since. But I have noticed when traveling up and down the Eastern Seaboard that I do have to change the setting.
wap.voicestream.com is T-Mobile's main data line....from there you get to hop onto internet2 or internet3. It is best to have it set to wap.voicestream.com as you would benefit from this the most.
The reason why I said it would cause problems later on is that what if T-Mobile changes something or applies some changes (like reserving internet3 only for VPN customers) then you would be effected by this change.....so it's better to leave somethings default but tweak the hell out of the rest of th deivce!
A note about internet3....this is reserved specifically for those indivduals who have added VPN access to their accounts...you know the plan that allows you to use VPN access i think it's an additional 5$-10$ more per month....
you are probably right about the wap.voicestream.com I just posted what works for me. thanks for the cab, i will probably use it after i do a future rom upgrade.

any specific area i should install this on the phone? folders? thanks.
1. Download the file
2. Unzip the file
3. Right click the folder just before you see the files and make it "Read Only"
4. Transfer to device (I personally like keeping them on a storage card)
5. Open File Explorer and install one by one
a. Tap on file
b. Leave default setting of installing to Device
c. Tap Install
d. Tap OK (top right corner after successful install)
e. Repeat a-e for all cab files
6. Press and hold down power button until data loss message box comes up
7. Tap OK (unit will now power-off)
8. Power unit back on....enjoy life....
Although I must say you should consider flashing your device with the iMate 2.16 ROM....I have it running and I'm loving it! If you don't need it at least consider flashing your device with the original T-Mobile ROM available here. What's the point of doing either...
iMate - Faster, included Java support, AKU2 (MS Security/Push Technology)
T-Mobile Original - Other than physical appearance your device will function just like a stock T-Mobile MDA
i have the latested tmobile rom, can i just flash the iMate 2.16 ROM? what else do i need?
hi, i just updated my o2 mini s to the new rom from o2 uk.. ive been able to conect to tzones before.. now i cant.. PIE will stay at Locating before popping up an error message.. anything i can do to fix it? or get my tzones working again? thank you
the same for Cingular 8525 for t-mobile US
Will the t-mobile file in the previous message install t-mobile settings to work on an unlocked Cingular 8525? If not, does anyone have the settings? I could not get the ones at t-mobiles US or UK site to work. I will be brave and install while in Windows Mobile 5 (against my better judgememt)
Thanks!
FYI:
I did not hard reset it but simply installed the files in the order within the zip. I did get a waring on the registry edits.cab about being designed for an earlier version of windows. Anyway, I did the Power + OK button reset. Upon loggin, the HotSpot Login shows in the Connections and I was successfully able to send a MMS message my gmail account!
Thanks
I'm happy and relieved to say that this still works. I just updated my cingular 8125 with t-mobile service. Thanks lvlol!

Ok, i think im getting this, i also like everyone else here has a 8125 with T-Mobile. But i cant access the itnerent or send MMS.
So dose this mean i have to flash my cell phone with either the iMate or hte toehr MDA rom?
if i do will all hte wifi and all hte drivers work still like bluetooth and such?
t mobile settings
alright everyone, if you have the 5.99 tzones, 1. enter wap.voicestream.com in the apn info, 2. make sure you set the PROXY: 215.155.165.50 port 8080 for http and default ports for the rest, 3. make sure you change the default Internet connection to the one with the proxy under connections/advanced/select networks. and for email with the tzones you have to change the settings for your email to connect with the proxy connection or every time it checks email it'll disconnect and reconnect, and then you'll have to disconnect and reconnect to surf the web.
now for the full internet plan you dont need the proxy, the internet2 and 3 are for the blackberry plan and vpn plan if memory serves me correctly.
Nice thread!
Just used to configure a 8125 that I got of Craigslist yesterday, everything is working now on T-Mobile MMS SMS and internet.

Getting the HTC TyTn to work with Exchange ActiveSync/DirectPush in Japan

Here is what I've done so far. Anyone with experience or anyone who has successfully gotten their setup to work, please chime in !
1. Install the JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.exe rom. Test. Works fine when connected by USB, syncs to any Exchange server with no problem.
However, When I try to sync to any Exchange Server or a different Exchange server through the GPRS connection, it sits on "Synchronizing folders", then "Looking for Changes" and finally after a few minutes of doing nothing, it just gives up and goes back to "Waiting for network".
2. As a test, I've tried to install a different ROM. This time ME_DT_WWE_1182553_106_10303_Ship.exe. Now when I try to connect to the GPRS connection, it retries the dial twice, then it "Dialed : open.softbank.ne.jp. Cannot connect for an unknown reason. Check your connection settings, etc.". This is after installing the SoftBank extended ROM and doing a hard reset, which worked fine for the previous i-mate ROM.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
logimob
Wireless OK
After doing some more testing, and changing back to the original i-mate ROM, it seems to sync to Exchange just fine using a Wireless connection.
However going back to GPRS, and it's back to doing exactly the same "synchronising folders"/"looking for changes".
To this date, I have never had a successful GPRS sync - has anyone else?
Japan users?
There are no Japan users with SoftBank GPRS ActiveSync working....?
Hi there, Andrew (you sent him an email) point me to this thread, and will try to reply here. Actually I didn't flash my X01HT yet, but I use Exchange daily on my HTC Mteor and HTC Universal with open.softbank.ne.jp, it works flawlessly. I am waiting for HTC Taiwan to send me back my HTC Hermes (Dopod) back from reparation to try.
But ! Even with my X01HT in Japanese I have sometimes difficulties to connect to the internet and I also have the same error as yours. So this is not really only a ROM issue here.
Now I hard reseted my X01HT and soft reset it before installing the Extended ROM, so there, I do not have any Softbank crap installed my my device and once the open.soft... stuff set I have no problem neither.
Finally I know that some ROM are not Japanese network friendly, for example on my HTC Universal, with an iMATE ROM, I cannot place any Video call, nor access to my voice mailbox correctly, I can dial 1416, but when I want to access to my voice mail... it doesn't work.
Now on ALL my device here in Japan I only install a Dopod ROM, they are, as far as I am concerned the best ROM ever made and with them EVERYTHING WORKS, and I will strongly advise you to try to install a Dopod Rom on your Hermes. If you do not have it on the FTP, I have one on my desktop at the office that HTC Taiwan sent me (HER_DopodAsia_1237074_1060010_WWE_SHIP)
Fantastic, I'll try to install the rom at www.dopodasia.com/download/HER_DopodAsia_1237074_1060010_WWE_SHIP.exe
and see how I go. Thanks very much for your help and ideas.
Sorry to hear about your sick HTC Hermes!

After flashing the Hermes with the new Dopod image, it keeps giving me a
Network Wizard error.
I tried adding the open.softbank.ne.jp settings, but it didn't work.
Then I replaced the Extended ROM with the Softbank Extended ROM. Then the settings for SoftBank were automatically configured - but don't work. It says "the current connection cannot be used for your request". Also, the network wizard comes up every soft reset and says "Your current operator (44020) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor".
This is kind of confusing - do you have any advice? Did you use the Extended ROM as it was?
Thanks very much for your help
"Your current operator (44020) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor".
Do not worry for that I have the same problem.
Now you are telling me that you cannot login at all, cannot surf at least the internet?
Just a quick thought... my SBS do not have a real SSL, this is a SBS SSL, so when I quote the box SSL connection in my Mteor or Hermes... it won7t work... try to unquote this box...
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply. I've been messing around on this all night/all day again, and I've made some slow painful progress!
Firstly, I'm glad you had the same problem. Now I'm reassured that the problems are not related.
Next up, I've been trying to get the internet working. I managed to get it to connect before, but whenever I tried to access any site through IE, I got the error "エラーが発生しました。リクエストが不正です。 wj46000e".
I have since done a few hard-resets, and now it doesn't connect, despite me putting in the connection details 10's of times. I now get the error "Dialed : open.softbank.ne.jp. Cannot connect for an unknown reason"
Did you ever have these kinds of problems?
What kind of extended rom are you using? I just copied and pasted the whole Softbank Extended ROM, which worked perfectly on the JASJAM ROM.
If you have any ideas, I'd be really grateful.
Thanks very much

I also get this error while ago... actually the first time I had my X01HT and with the Japanese ROM.
I really do not know what is going on with your device, I just hardreset my HTC Universal and put ALL the setting by hands, NO cab from crap Softbank, and it WORKS !
We should maybe meet one day, and try to let me see your device...
Fantastic - you're really giving me hope that one day soon I'll have a fully functioning device!!
I'll try restoring the original Extended ROM and inputting all the settings manually again. Hopefully it'll work this time.
I'd love to meet up for a chat and a show and tell session! I'd like to see your fully functioning device. Send me a private msg and I'll reply with my Skype/Email address.

Ok Will PM U, but just for reference I flash back my Universal to its orginal ROM and not the 1.90 that we can found here, and straight after the flashing, I put manually the Softbank setting and... WORKS ! I am sure you made a mistake somewhere this is not possible otherwise
Ah ok I see... so you installed your original ROM. Is that available for download anywhere? I'd like to replicate your setup as closely as possible.

I just tried installing the other Dopod ROM - with exactly the same results. "cannot connect for an unknown reason". This same stuff worked perfectly on the JASJAM ROM, so I am starting to think these problems are somehow ROM related.

This is a Rom for my universal, not my Hermes, My Hermes with a Dopod rom will be sent back to me today. And since my wife want to use the Japanese X01HT I didn't flash it to US... anyway let's meet and check this out.
Guys, are you using the standard Softbank PC Site Direct connection?
If so, you'll never get Exchange Activesync working unless you uncheck the box for "This server requires SSL" AND the Exchange administrator has configured the system to allow non-SSL connections.
Softbank's "open.softbank.ne.jp" connection is anything BUT open. They are doing port blocking and currently appear to only allow port 80, 25, 110 unless you use Pocket IE. This means that ActiveSync and most IM applications fail.
Softbank is reported to say that they plan to begin supporting Exchange ActiveSync "sometime in December" - until then, the port is closed and there is nothing you can do to make it work.
The workaround is to use [email protected] (but this can get very expensive). [email protected] does not have any port blocking.
Anybody heard any updates as to when Softbank will stop blocking the ssl port for Exchange ActiveSync? Still scheduled for sometime in December? This is killing me . . . so stupid that they would do something like this but so typical.
I will die and rot away before these bastards open up SSL...

I have been looking through the Japanese sites as well but haven't seen anything. I just keep testing every day. Frigging bastards... I told my Exchange and networking team in the US about it and they had never heard of a Windows Mobile device that was blocked from syncing with Exchange SSL over the wireless.
I have a friend in Korea though with a Samsung WM5 device - his works with Exchange but other ports are blocked so he can't use IM apps. So Japan mobile providers are even more backwards than in Korea.
Hi, hope this issue has been solved already but just in case:
Softbank open APN open.softbank.ne.jp *did not* allow SSL port to go through, so you needed to turn off SSL mode of ActiveSync.
It seems, though, since a few days ago, Softbank opend almost all ports for APN open.softbank.ne.jp thus you should be able to use SSL ActiveSync without problems.

Glad to hear it worked. Now my interest is how Softbank is going to treat PC users trying to use X01HT as a wireless modem. I personally hope they provide unlimited usage for $80-$90 per month... (after April)

MMS problem on Vodafone UK - please help!

Hi guys,
I consider myself a pretty good with these devices but this one's got me...even the good ol' search facility aint giving me what I need.
Basically I got an unlocked Orange SPV M3100 with a Voda UK contract SIM.
I setup all the connection details and MMS server as i've found on web but also the HTC utility which sets it all up for you. I get the internet ok but no MMS!
'Error synchorizing' or similar is what I get - it doesnt even try to fire up the data connection - immediate response and i've triple-checked the settings for the MMS server. Anyone point me in a better direction?
Much appreciated.
My bet would be the MMS port is wrong, it should be 9201. Has the same problem after using a vodafone settings cab, everything else worked, just no MMS.
Double check your settings against the 2nd post in the thread below, i have used this setup many times and these settings are all 100% right.

Hi mate,
thanks so much for your reply. Still not working but I suspect it's something to do with the new WM6 (LWVS) rom i've got..it doesn't seem to be happy with it.
I've never had a problem before with any other version...weird.
Try Black, ive had no problems on vodafone and im flashing 3.01 as i type. I also find radio 1.40.30.00 works very well on vodafone, get it from the wiki if you havnt already
Just tried Black 3.01 as well and same problem...i must be doing something stupid..i've found several sets of instructions (all the same) and used the HTC utility which installs the settings for you (you select your country and operator) and I still get the same issue.
The thing I find really weird is that the MMS application doesn't seem to even attempt to initiate a data connection - just errors straight away.
I've not flashed back to LWVS Rom as it's my preferred flavour but i've got to be doing something wrong or missing something.
My radio ROM is 1.41.00.10 - not related to that is it? I'm about to try the version our mate has suggested above but if anyone has any other ideas...please do let me know.
Thanks!
It appears i'm a turnip!
It works - now that i've had a test sent to me! But if i manually press send/recieve it errors so probably was working all along! stupid error messages.
Thanks for your help though James - much appreciated.
im having this same problem on tmobile usa. any pointers guys. ever since the first version on wm6 i haven't been able to send or recieve a mms

MMS not working vodafone uk - help!

I am running the stock 1.48 rom on my hd2 with all the hotfixes applied on vodafone uk. I recently reflashed the radio up to 2.07.50.27_2 and was happy with the extra battery life.
I have noticed though that i have not been able to send or receive an MMS since the flash and was wondering if i was alone? I have checked with vodafone and there is nothing wrong with my account and have tried the sim in another phone and mms works fine. I have checked all my mms settings against those that vodafone suggest and these are fine also.
Internet is working fine on my phone so it isnt a reception issue either.
The problem i have is that when i try to download an MMS that has been sent the phone shows the icon on the task bar but then after about 5 mins it fails. The same is true if i try and send an MMS, it just fails after trying for about 5 mins.
Vodafone want to take my phone in but i dont want to be without it. Is there anything here people can think that might help fix this issue?
Im thinking of going forward to 2.08.50.05 rom (if i can get one that will work off sdcard flash). Thoughts?
I havent changed the Rilphone.dll from the stock 1.48 one yet. Could it be related to that? If so which Rilphone.dll should i use, can i install one from htc 1.67 rom on my stock 1.48 or will it not work?
I had the same issue, upgraded to the vodafone 166 ROM and now my MMS works fine
Im hoping to avoid a full rom flash as i have loads of applications installed and it will take ages to get the new rom back how i like it.
As an aside what radio are you using in your 1.66 rom~?
Well ive just flashed upto 2.08.50.08 radio and the mms still isnt working. Time to have a go with a few rilphone.dll i guess and see if that helps at all.
Easier to flash and be done with it
WHenever i've had problems with mms it has been because the connectionsetup had been removed from a rom, not because of the rom itself. As soon as i downloaded the connectionsetup.cab and run it all worked fine for mms.
Wheere would i find a connection setup.cab?
As an aside I now have 2.08.50.08 installed and working but everytime i install a rilphone.dll and restart i cant get the phone to switch on (in settings wireless controls). Any idea why? I have just deleted the rilphone.dll and at least i now have the phone switch on in wireless controls.
Heres hoping the connectionsettings.cab fixes my problem!
Anyone here got any advice on the correct rilphone.dll i should be using with for the 2.08.50.08 radio on a stock 1.48 rom?
Sadly the connectionsetup.cab hasnt changed anything. I still cannot get mms on the phone and havent had any luck finding the right rilphone.dll to use with stock 1.48 rom.
I really dont see that a full rom flash will help and will actually just put me back where i am now without any of my applications installed. Is there anything else i can try before a full flash?
Is it fair to say that as long as i have the ability to get mobile internet i should recieve an MMS?
I too couldn't get MMS on Voda working when I first got the phone either.
First things first, forget the settings Voda have posted on their website. The phones auto configuration should work perfectly fine.
1. So hit Settings, All settings, Connections then Connection Setup and select the details that best suit you and run them.
2. Then power off your phone, remove sim card and then power on the phone (without sim card in). Once it's fully started turn it off again, replace sim card and turn it back on and try your MMS.
Don't really know if you need to do step 2 but it's what Voda recommend to make sure your phone refreshes and connects to their network.
If this has failed, register with Voda's eforum and post a request there explaining your problems, ask if the provision of your MMS can be checked. One of their Mods will pick it up very quickly and send you an email so you can do DPA, they will then call you back pretty quickly and attempt to help you further, they should suggest that they will reinitialise MMS if they don't request it .
Voda's customer support team are hit or miss but their Eforum team are actually pretty good and i'm sure they'll sort it out for you.
The setting they have listed on their website seem to be slightly different to the auto settings: Voda's listing for IP address is 212.183.137.012 the HTC setting are 212.183.137.12. I have read on this forum and other places that the HD2 doen't work properly if you input the zero's, hence why you should just use the phone's inbuilt settings.
HTH
got to wonder whats been going on here. Tried everything and nothing worked. Even got vodafone to disable and re-enable MMS still no luck. Used spb backup pre rom flash then re ran the connection manager and the mms works.
Strange but thankfully saved me reflashing and reinstalling everything!
I had 3 weeks of being unable to send mms message on vodafone and mine was ultimately a simple fix.
I just updated my configuration via 'Start' -> 'Settings'->'Connections'-> 'Connection Setup'->'Menu'-> then select 'UK and Vodafone and hit 'OK.
Works ok for me now
I have the same problem, can't send or receive MMS.
My setup is ROM v 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE /Offical Vodafone UK ROM
Radio 2.06.51.07
MMS settings;
S Name: Vodafone MMS
IP ad: 212.183.137.12 have also tried 212.183.137.012
Port: 8799
S ad: http: // mms. vodafone. co.uk/servlets /mms
Conn via: Contract Internet
Mess size limit: 300kb
WAP v: 2.0
I'm sure I've read somewhere that changing the settings to Contract WAP sorts the MMS problem but creates a new one for Opera/Skyfire etc,. Which I use more, so unwilling to change to.
I also know someone who has the 1.76 vodafone ROM and he can't send MMS either, but he's alerted instantly "unable to send message" where mine takes about 5 minutes.

internet password keeps changing

ive came across an anoying problem, every other day or sometimes same day after 7-8hrs of non use of the internet.
the password keeps changing for the internet, when i change it back to "password" and everything is fine.
it simple to tell if the rom/phone has reset the password becasue there is more ********* in the text box plus webpages won't load first time.
Ive tried creating a new account etc. this worked for a few days then it goes again.
Im using a miri rom i think (how do you know btw ?)
im using giffgaff pay as u go, (it uses o2 UK network)
is this just fault with the rom ?
