'Find' function not working - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Anyone else got problems with 'Find'? Mine almost alway returns no results even for the >64k search - when I know there are hundreds of files bigger than 64k.
Mike

The "Find" feature has never worked for me either!
That's why I preffer to use Resco Explorer's Find facility, which is really great and fast. You can search with wildcards much like Find on the PC.

mysterious arrow symbol instead of marking text

Hello Folks!
my mdaII has extraordinary symtoms when i want to mark some text in notepad ore other text application!
instead of the black block (shows marked text) i get a extraordinary arrow symbol (see attached picture) and so i cant mark text any more.
this serious function does not stop till i make a softreset. after this everything works well.
has anybody an idea For what reason this arrow appears and how i can get rid of it??
Did you install TenGo?? I think that either TenGo or Fitaly produces this and I've no idea how to stop it. I also have this occasionally.

No what is this?
Maybe we can find out which software we have both ?
i use:
ZenPhone
Repligo
TotalCommander
Visual CE
Code Wallet Pro
Spritge Backup
ScreenCap
if nobody knows an answer i have to hardreset my device because this problem is very distempering...
hmmm... from your list I have Zen Phone and Sprite backup. I recently upgraded both applications too.
Hmmm.... what to do, I thought it was TenGo and I removed it, but the problem is still there. I was then thinking that this could be Fitaly but you don't have fitaly so it can't be that.
I've found that when this problem happens if I switch input modes to another sip, then back again the problem is gone. This is a work around, not a fix and like you I do not know what's causing it.
I'm reluctant to hard reset as I've just done a rebuild recently. I'm hoping my next hard reset will be for Second Edition.
Have you had any more luck with it?

Sorry for my lousy english what do you mean with "switch to another sip" ??
@Guest,
Just select another input method like character recognizer and then back to the keyboard or whatever software input method (SIP) you preffer.

Rayan
I also have the same problem. It seemed to appear after I installed ThinkOutside BT Keyboard.

Thanks for explaining me ;-)
I understood right but this tip did not work on my mdaII :-(
Hi Folks!
Now i got my MDAIII an have THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!
that means it HAS TO BE an part of software i install because my new device has windows mobile 2003 SE!!
Did nobody find out how we can get rid of this "feature" ???
This is very interesting indeed! Are you saying you have the "feature" on a XDA3 out the box? Did you install any keyboard related software? Then again the XDA3 has the internal keyboard and therefore I assume it has some form of drivers pre-installed to support this.

But i have to use the device so i cant hardreset it every day :-(
This was resolved just before the site crashed and lost data. Send me you installed software and I should be able to remember which one it was, PM when you update as I may miss this thread.

I'll try! Thanks for your hints!
hmmm...
I still have this too, I thought it might be Fitaly but coming to the conclusion that it's not. It's a severely annoying problem.
Narrowing down the lists of software that have been published, I have the following in common.
SPB Pocket Plus
PocketZenPhone
Sprite Backup.
I noticed that both PocketZenPhone and Sprite Backup appeard on both published lists, has anyone found the culprit?
Cheers
Howard
hmmm.... starting at the top, I removed SPB Pocket Plus and the arrow is gone from notes.
Two soft resets and the arrow is still gone!
Yet another bug with PocketPlus then???
Cheers
I have seen this on my XDA II - and the only applications from the lists that I have installed are PocketZenPhone and Resco.
Well having removed Pocket Plus to check, I've reinstalled it and I still don't have the arrow. So far, so good.
I don't know if the soft reset cured it (temporarily) or if installing the latest build of PocketPlus did it.

tengo on athena

Anybody able to get tengo working on their athena?
I've got a Dopod U1000. It will install and sometimes work for a while after hard resets/reinstalls, but always stops working suddenly and won't come back. By that, I mean that I can see tengo as an SIP option, but choosing it only brings up the standard WM keyboard.
I don't think there's a conflict because it stops working without any new apps being installed or settings being changed.
Anybody having better luck or have advice?
Thanks,
Rob

there is a problem with wm5 sip management....
have you made tengo your default input..(that should help)
or try searching for PQIIz and chose tengo as default for either potrait/landscape or both...
P.S-my experiences are based on universal....
Yes, I've experienced this and know how you can fix this.
The problem is the way memory is utilised. I don't knwo if this is due to WM5, but it happens not just to Dopod U1000/HTC Athena but to all PDA if certain software are installed.
I'll try to recall the steps I took. Please let me know if this works:
1) Temporarily switch off anything that uses memory: today plugins, WIFI, bluetooth.
2) Remove SD cards temporily. This is because of some bugs that is associated with SD card causing memory drain.
3) Select standard SIP as the default if it is not already so
4) Soft reset
5)Open an application that need keyboard. This can be notepad, word, excel etc
6) You should be able to select Tengo now
7) If you are using the free version: see www.free.tengo.net You must first register before the keyboard would work. If you have used the commercial version with added functionality ( www.tengo.net ) this may or may not be necessary - I'm not sure.
8) Once registered, you should be able to use Tengo from now on. Now you can put back all your WIFI, Bluetooth, desktop plugins and SD cards
This solution was provided by Edwin Ng, the founder of the Singapore company that made the SIP.
This is a very very clever, flexible, and fast input method. I've now used it as my default SIP and 10000% happy with it. There is virtually no learning curve.

I'm coming around to seeing it your way.
Been playing with this and this SIP is really starting to grow on me. I too have it as my default SIP right now as I'm hoping to start carrying the Ameo without keyboard as soon as a decent case, preferably silicon based, becomes available.
Guys..search for Happy Typing Keyboard in this forum

Tried searching that, comes up with 21 hits and net connection is too slow to check them all out atm, so as you were specific with the words I bunged them in quotes to search the exact string... only this thread comes up....
Tried "Happy Typing Keyboard iphone" (w/o quotes) and nowt.
Please can you be more precise and provide a link?

You can even handle complex stuffs like web site address and password once the non-existing word has been used once. I like the audio warning if there is a non-existing word being typed, as it indicates typing error in most cases. The result is highly accurate and quick typing.
Very glad that you finally see its merits.
Certainly do. Thanks again.

Bluejacking

Any of you fine individuals know of any good bluejacking software?
I've tried a few but they all seem to have problems working with my Trinity, unfortunately.
use bluezard
http://www.wm-soft.com/products/bluezard
worth to buy it
... this looks good. I'm waiting to see more comments on it before I buy it.

Thanks for the post and the info
well i didn t find equivalent appz than bluezard, the first and only prog that i ve bought in my life
nocomp, I see that you like to support good software development by buying software you like. This is the only software ever that you like? Or maybe you couldn't find it elsewhere?
Hey we all have bad habits - I fart in bed - but I don't go shouting about it. ...DOH! - I just did.
hahahaha,
well , the guy that dev it is always present for help you, the prog works like a charm, and it s very very cheap, so no regrets to have bought it
if it was 100$ i would of live without it
Did you take a look at:
- BTCrawler
- Sniper
Might be worth a look
hi,
yep i know these
check that:
http://www.wm-soft.com/article/the-real-bluejack-features-comparison
Hi,
That Bluezard software look BRILLIANT!, works fast and cool features......But....
a few years ago i brought Sniper and only used it on my Universal (M5000).
So i have tried to install it on my M700 and all went wrong. I kept getting errors saying "No device found" even if i knew there were devices on around me.
If anyone else is using WM6 and getting this trouble, there is a fix for this if you search there support forum.
This is the fix:
just install the netcf.all.wce4.ARMV4.cab file to your device (not SD card) and then run the software again, and all should be working
Note: to get Sniper to manage all bluetooth functions (like storage area for recieved files etc) you MUST uncheck the 'Accept all beams' in comm manager.
Hope this helps people out there to save time to get bluejacking!
has anyone tested the full versions of Sniper and also Bluezard to give me a comparison? which has the best features etc?
From what i saw from the demo of Bluezard, i would say this is the better but i dont know
Thank you for anyones time in advance
Is there any such scanner working with Widcomm BT stack? Tools mentioned above uses only MS BT stack
Thread moved to Trinity general!

Console/CMD for WM6

I can't seem to find a console app that works on my Athena (WM6). None of the old tricks (reg edit) seem to work for getting pocketcmd to run. Has anyone else found a solution?
What do you need a cmd for on a ppc ?

I was looking for something also and a buddy mentioned a product to me but I got busy with work. I'll most likely get back on looking for this in another week or two when work slows a bit. I haven't found one that works well yet.
you can install python, its very easy language and it will give you most things you need and more...

i agree... it would be nice if the period (".") is on the first page. still a great little app!
I also like this program but also have the same reservations as others. I was also looking around on the XDA forums and found this one about the program http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321712&page=40 does anyone here find that it drains battery or memory from your Trinity?
I also used Slueth's SIPChange program. Now, how do I remove it?
Slueth says to remove it "just remove sipchange.exe from /windows and sipchange.lnk from /windows/startup and /windows/start menu/programs"
I don't have sipchange.exe in /windows I do have a folder in /My Device/Program Files do I delete that and sipchange.lnk from /windows/startup and /windows/start menu/programs? And would that remove it? I like to have my machine running fairly clean so would want to remove all of the program!
Any help would be appreciated
