NEW DRIVER! - Targus Universal Wireless IR Keyboard - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Targus have just released the new driver for this keyboard making it compatible with XDA II! I had bought it a few weeks ago but was disappointed that it was NOT universal at all!
However, the new driver works fine - very pleased. Fine device - great price.
Below is the note from Targus. My compliments to their Customer Support tekkie Jose M (whose name I've shortened for his privacy). He was knowledgeable, honest about the difficulties, courteous and efficient. Credit where credit is due!

Thank you for your patience while we contacted the appropriate department regarding the tests for the PA870.
Please know that the XDAII has been added to the web as compatible.
Please download and install the very latest drivers Version 1.31 from the web at:
http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PA870U
Please uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones.
Let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance.
Best regards,
Jose M

IR Keyboard driver developer sought

Hi Folks,
Greg Sullivan from Pocketop Keyboard ( http://www.pocketop.net ) is seeking interested parties in assisting with development of a driver for our IR keyboard.
We're a relative new comer to the market, based in Vancouver Canada, and are seeking interested parties in helping us develop a driver for the XDA.
We currently work on the PocketPC 2000 & 2002 platforms. We work via RAW IR.
Please write to [email protected]
Apologies in advance if this is not the appropriate place to post.
What about your VERY BAD customer support?
Hello, I was quite happy to see your post on the forum. And this is because I AM VERY MAD ON YOUR COMPANY!!!!
I am trying to contact your company to get help in obtaining the drivers for my device, but got no help of any kind.
Shame on your company, as it is advertized as customer friendly, but actually it does not supports it's customers once they paid.
So you have small hardware, with very bad drivers (hanging the XDA I tried it on) and extremely bad customer supports.
:!: POTENTIAL BUYER OF THIS DEVICE - BEWARE!!!!!! DO NOT GET FOOLED :!: :!: :!:
Any good lawyer around for easy case?
Last week I finally got email stating that they are sorry for big delay, and instead of support I have to buy my driver first.
I OBJECT TO THIS - and this is why:
1 I bought the hardware that was advertized as compatible with XDA, and as having drivers for it, tailored for my device.
2 Drivers were supposed to enable working with the device - while they are not really working, as they usually crash the machine when input is provided or simply do not load at all.
3 The drivers included on CD with the device DO NOT WORK AT ALL, and producer is/have been warning customers not to use them, as device will need hard reset. I think this is violation of most basic quality rules.
4 Now I cannot get access to ANY drivers on producers webpage nor cannot get them using customer support, so I state it is IMPOSSIBLE TO USE the device I bought from them.
5 Customer support was not respondin to customer queries for months. They simply ignored any input.
:!: Some people may say -> they are going to develop their drivers now, as they charge for them now - my reply - all new customers should get a big sticker on box saying "You will have to pay more to actually use this device, but buy it already and put on the shelf". All existing customers should receive proper customer support, as they bought the device with promise of having it included

XDA Exec - proposals for preparing new website

Hi guys ive currently got a site, which is all about PSP's, i've kinda got bored with that subject now. I'd like to start a site specifically about the xda EXEC, but i need some help.
Also just wondered if anyone would like to give me a hand and they would be publicised in doing so. If interested email me at d.raspe at btinternet.com OR god at day66.com
(obviously replace the "at" with "@")
Cheers Damien
Damien - what's your psp site? I've just bought one from ebay, so hopefully I can start figuring out dax and ziso and all of that stuff. Who knows, I might even do some programming on it... one day.
Does the world need another Universal website?
What would be your "angle"?
V
RE: Site proposal
Well, i started off with psp's a while ago, set up a site Hxxp://www.day66.com but never really got around to finish it, and the lack of knowledge of .php held me back a bit!
I'd like to set-up this site, because it will be nice to have a site, just for the exec, pro, universal. So people who have these phones can come to one place and download programs etc.
What do you think?
Did you say you had just brought a PSP?
Damien
Yeah, just bought a psp off ebay, should arrive tomorrow. If it doesn't come with a free Nigerian Scammer in the box, I'm going to be downgrading and hacking this time tomorrow... Mrs Vijay555's red hot poker willing (I haven't broken the news to her about the PSP. Let's not mention the 2gb Memory card. And the Bluetooth headphones for my Mio...)
If you've got any useful tips, feel free to PM me
Regarding the exec - well, hopefully the Wiki here is a good way to tie information together. I've got no problems with every member setting up his own website, but I think it just becomes a duplication of efforts, which is why I'm here all the time! My own website lies neglected, withering away like the now useless legs of my God Emporer body. But my new website will hopefully be a bit sexier

Anyone got an HTC Taiwan contact - email preferably!

Hi Guys,
I want to produce some peripherals for the Ameo (X7500) and duly phoned HTC Europe just now. It seems that the only place that developers can get information is HTC HQ in Taiwan! Has anyone got a contact there? Or even is there an HTC person on these forums?
I require some pinout information only. Thanks Guys....
I have an address to write to by snail mail but that seems ludicrously slow!
If anyone from HTC is reading this maybe you can help?! After alll the more peripherals there are the better the sales of the unit itself! Plus some may work with other HTC units...

Cool, thanks man!
Reply already from Taiwan. The email has been forwarded to the correct Tech department who will reply with the details I requested! Woohoo - soon a decent keyboard!
Then thee device really can be used as a small substtute for the laptop in meetings and stuff!
Wow a RUBBISH reply from HTC Taiwan - I have replied again saying they are being stupid as they restric Athena sales due to limited peripherals and see what happens:
[FONT=&quot]Thank you for your inquiry.
Due to confidential reason, we're afraid HTC couldn't inform you relative pin-out information for the connector. However, here is another device which may meet your requirement. Please check our website as below. Hope it would be helpful.

We will update the news in HTC website (EU-English version) once this device has further launch/sales information in EU.

Fpsece site?? Cannot register, Admin MIA?

I really want to purchase the supporter version of fpsece. However Im not able to register on forum. It seems however you can still donate via the homepage. But im a little leary. Seems there is some issues with the site. When using Firefox. (popups) ect..
And there is no way to see the verification image when registering as a new user on the forum. Has anyone succesfully recieved the supporter version while this has been going on?. (Apparently for some time now). Or could a current registered user post a question about this on Fpsece forum?.
Thanks
Tim

I don't believe you have to register on the site to recieve the supporter version. It just gets sent to the e-mail address that your paypal payment was from.
There's a lot of very happy people over there in the forum and the supporter version is there.
However, the creator has got stuck in Japan because of the volcano, and is expected back next week. There's a Stickied post in the forum at the minute where he explains this and says any people who have registered in the last few days can expect their code in a week (I'm paraphrasing).
I'm probably going to register in a week, played with and loved it on the HD1, although it need's the HD2's multi-touch + faster processor to be much fun.

RetroPie for the Asus Tinkerboard (ROTT)

Hi, I'm Steve, I do some roms over on the s6/note5/treble forums. I recently purchased this board after noticing it was a big step up from raspberry pi. After buying the board I went looking for retro gaming options. Lakka exists. RetroPie is in development, done by custom developers. It is not an official RetroPie release or affiliated with the Official RetroPie on Raspberry Pi. However it works and looks the same. It is just an unofficial port. Currently it is working for many emulators. But Dreamcast, psp need work, and I wanted Saturn. I found the two guys developing the project and reached out to them(crash), and ultimately joined the team for ROTT(retropie on the tinkerboard). Links can be found in post #2. Please report any bugs as it will help us improve the project. Happy Gaming, or viewing, depending on what you do.
Current release is ROTT 1.1 Epic Edition.
** Fixed DC, PSP, and added Saturn.
The image repo/tutorial page is www.techtoytinker.com
There are no sales and no ads, just the info

Just flash it to your SD card and go.

I was able to get Sega Saturn to run really well with some tweaking. It will be included in a upcoming build. Dreamcast is also fine. N64 and ps1 are good. Psp is doing better now. The GPU has been set to it's Max of 600, finally unlocking the advantage this board has on the pi for gaming.
ROTT is up to 1.0.8 now. The deluxe version has mame and mess included.

Please note, there are no ads or sales on the site, slash TV has been added also for tinkerboard, and nano pi fire 3. It's an Android based emulation setup that doubles as a media centre.

Don't use that. Use 1.0.8 epic or 1.0.7, and it's tinker/tinkerboard
Question
Thanks for the awesome img! I have a question, is it possible to integrate some Media players in this image? for watch movies under RetroPie?

Hi Steve, I'm Roger and this message/reply hass nothing to do with the tinkerboard (sorry everyone, for thread-jacking). It is actually with reference to the Jetson Nano. This is the first post that google found on xda, after i included "xda techtoyti....." in my search terms.
I'm messaging just to say "Hi" because I sent you a message using the "contact me" feature on your website but I check XDA on a far more regular basis, than I check my hotmail account.
I am still awaiting the postman to deliver my nano 4gb. It is 1pm here in the UK and the parcel tracking says that it is out for delivery, with the driver
please feel free to PM me

Yeah I know. Have downloaded it already and looking forward to testing it out
I'm hopeful of an Android port too, which was my reason for reaching out through your website.
I've already flashed my sd card with Nvidia's os and I've downloaded the Android ROM for the switch.
Still waiting for the postman though
Again, sorry for thread-jacking. Can I pm you instead?
2nd edit. Postman just arrived! Yay.
