Price difference between XDA II and I Mate - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Currently working in Saudia Arabia, my XDA I died last week and am now looking to purchase a XDA II, one thing i've notice however is that that the I Mate is considerably cheaper than the XDA II, could someone please tell me what the reason behind this is? Secondly is there any difference between the two devices?
Cheers

PLEASE HELP
Guys a response would be tremendoulsy appreciated as I can't continue living my life without an XDA replacement

they are both 'Himalaya' devices which mean they are 100% the same hardware
of cause what software is on them can differ maybe o2 pay money for extre non std mw2003 software and thats the difference
if it's not 3th party software which cause the price diff then i have no idea

another explanation could be if the original HTC device is being manfactured in the far east zone (ex: Thailand, Singapor, ... etc) this will give the i-mate brand an advantage since there is almost no customs in Dubai, UAE ... but it's not the case if you tried to get the O2 XDA II from England or the MDA II.
For the additional s/w, let's not forget that the i-mate is arabized which should add extra value (cost)

Thanx guys.........so in essence the I Mate is not Inferior to the XDA????
Cheers

XDA 2???

hello.......
i was wondering does any body know when this XDA 2 is meant to be coming out, i know it is "before christmas", but i need a more accurate date, beacuse i really want my XDA now and im not sure whether i should just get the XDA 1 now......any ideas?
also, how much will the XDA 2 be on contract? Any good ideas will be welcome...
Thanks in advanced
jay
hi there, I kind of had the same dilemma, but damn it I've got the XDA now..
My guess is that the price will be prohibitively expensive at first, and may not be on contract straight away as a result, so you could be waiting a while, there are some good deals around on the XDA now - are you UK ?
Personally I'm thinking of taking the plunge next year, but I'll be waiting until the XDA2 has been around a while like I did with this.. but then will there be something else around the corner ?
yeah...that makes sense...
i really need it now....mainly beacuse i have a lack of a mobile
i am in the uk yes.....where are the best deals then? any good websites? how much you pay for yours?
i will probably by it on contract from o2........
thanks for your help
jay
no worries mate - glad to help..
yeah same again - I needed a mobile and liked the idea of e-mail, but couldn't quite get my head around that plasticky P800.. If you can stand the ribbing from your mates at first, and get yourself one of the ROMS you have got loads of cool stuff..
As for deals, I got my for 209.99 - Although I'm sure thats going down, I price-matched at CPW from a shop in Guildford who had a deal for 235, somehow they went even lower than the price-match to my delight ! (but I have heard that o2/CPW might be dropping the XDA - making an early release on contract for the XDA2 even less likely)
I have 2 XDA's 1 is mine and I have a spare for sale it is ulocked so can be used on any network it also has the latest ROM and Radio Stack.
If you are interwsted let me know by email or post.
Regards your question I contacted O2 they said middle to late December
or early Jan It has a camera as well as Bluetooth. So I am expecting it to be very expensive.
got my XDA for £190 boxed as new was an ex display model had been dropped and had 2 dents abover the ir lens came with everything.
got it from ebay sim free about 9 months ago :\
You can get an XDA from £59.99 depending on contract from:

in case people missed it

Translated to english.......
got mine for £200 off ebay.. boxed and unused
hmm this XDA2 is lookin' pretty good I have to say....
If you go to ebay and search for XDA, you will find a guy selling o2 contract xda phones for £149.
I found out today that the XDA2 will be available in the UK in november there is no idea of price, thay also confirmed that bluetooth is built in and not a add-on option like the WiFi is

Where to get an XDA II in the US?

I currently have an XDA I (Siemens SX56 AT&T) and would like to get an XDA II (unlocked) as soon as they're sold by a reliable US source. FYI, I called AT&T Tech support and they said an unlocked phone should work great, just swap the SIM chip over from my XDA I.
It looked like Phone4Devs would be a good source, but they went out of business. The other sources (below) I've found are mostly overseas and pretty expensive.

http://www.mobilefly.com/product.php?productid=278
http://www.ppcw-shop.net/index.php?cPath=20
http://www.expansys.com/d_pocketpc.asp
I'm sure I'm like many of you who would like to pay less than the $850-1,000 + Unknown Custom Charges, that overseas sources are asking.
There are many versions of the HTC Himalaya phone out there (qTek 2020, O2 XDA II, i-mate XDA II). It looks like the i-mate and qTek are the best for the US. Any feedback?
Let's see if we can find a good supplier in the US !!!
Thanks.
www.expansys.us
Use this link for USA marketed iMate or O2 XDA II. Sales tax charged in Illinois only.
XDA II Prices before Shipping
Benshop - US$905
Compume - US$830
Club i-Mate - $850
4Cellular - US$990
Mobilefly - US$880
PPCW-net - US$846
Expansys.us - US$833
I converted to USD where necessary and all are BEFORE shipping. Compume (Australia) and Expansys (World-wide) seem interesting.
and how about eBay ???
has anyone considered that option to acquire a/m XDA II ???
regards,
monika
Ordered an iMat XDA2
Gave up on Expansys.us. Ordered a iMtae XDA2 unit from PPCW.net (Arne). On route, looking forward to it.
Still trying to sell my existing XDA1 though, pass the word

cshields1,
I understand what you mean because I am currently waiting on Expansys.us too. When you get your phone please let us know of your over all experience with PPCW.net and also how the warranty or technical support is handle for the phone. I understand Expansys.us will play the middle man if you have an issue with phone during your warranty period (which is good considering we are in the US).

XDA Exec [Philippines]

Hhhmm.. yeah guyz! when do you think XDA Exec will be out here in Philippines? Im afraid that it will be delay just like the XDA IIi wich was already released 2 months before it was available here.. Do you think Philippines will have it as soon as o2 releases it?
According to my calculation XDA Exec will cost not more than P60,000.00 Pesos.

XDA Exec in the Philippines
I heard that Globe are using it already within their offices ... but they are planning to release it by christmas .... i'm getting one too and using it stateside ... i heard it's around 60K Philippine Pesos ...
C
I wonder when it gonna reach Singapore
yeah 60k just sounds about right haha
what's the difference of exec by the way
the black color and some additional sw
Huh! 60K is so expensive....
I may go for the SE P990i... sad thing is I have to wait till Q1 next year
on christmas? huh.. sounds cool.. This might be the best gift for my self if i bought one..
o2 is the best among the T-Mobile, Orange, I-Mate, etc for me.
to Yankee
You better stick to exec cuz exec will blast all device available excluding "oqo"
It will probably be launched as DOPOD 900 instead of the Exec... either way, still a great gadget..
Meron na nga ba sa Pinas? how much is it now?
Hope you guys get Exec soon -tip for free access.
I sat in Gloreieta jeans , Manila a month a go with my MDA Pro.
One guy asked me if it was an Exec. I was quite rude and abrupt, a short swift Think so. sorry.
My device was new. And I was trying to do an internet chekin to Singapore airlines site which was frustrating me. Their web site does not seem PDA friendly.
Was hoping to avoid checking in at 5AM as opposed to 7AM.
I never managed it. dis use my MDA PRo on a recent flight from Singapore to London. Worked a dream, sending text for the plane via T-mob web site. Shame I had no VOIP or Skype installed.
Glorietta Jeans seems to have free access for PDA's . I was not prompted for login and connected OK.
I purcxhased some wireless internet time whilst in Manila. Wiz and another.
Will look it out and post details here , hardly used. Someone might as well
use it.
Dissapointed with my MDA, like the large screen but my advice wait for applciations. Opera, A2DP and fax software.
I could not even fax singapore airlines as no fax software works on the Exec.
I prefer my MDA compact which has working fax s/w,A2DP and is a nicer size. Until my MDA PRO ROM is improved

Hmmm.. question.. why'd u take offense from that fellow asking if it was an exec? He probably was in awe of you for having such a wonderful pda phone...
well, was just wondering...
Offense.
I was not offended just abrupt in my reply.
Had had a long bad day and was stressed , been shopping with wife, daughter all day and trying to do an internet checkin with a company who's site was not working well and running out of time/against the clock.
If I had managed to check in for my flight, I could have relaxed and shown him my PDA.
AS it was I went to a reacl cybercafe around the corner, used a real PC and the web site was still not working.

Any luck finding the Exec? Its not selling in Asia as per the O2 site. ;-(

which is best and why: xda exec or imate jasjar???

well iv got an xda which i have killed the led light on it opppps
anyway im getting it replaced now i can either go for another xda exec or the imate version.
colour wise i cant decide!
would the jasjar be worth more come resale time??
would i even bother doing a rom update on the jasjar?
which one is best and y?
cheers guys
I think the Exec will be cheaper to buy (especially if you are upgrading or buy from 02.co.uk) and O2 I suspect will give you better after sales support. The Exec is a UK/Europe only product therefore may be worth more if sold outside the UK via ebay etc.
price aint an issue, its free from my work for hitting a target, so its sim free buti can order it in both xda form and imate, the imate does cost more for the company but that don't bother me lol
not too sure if I like the jasjars red keypad,
any more views guys
Hardware and performance wise, there is no difference.
O2 has better support as far as repair and replacement goes.
O2 Exec has a better color (black), especially the keyboard light (blue).
O2 is cheaper. But as you said, price is not a problem.

Anyone can explain price difference btw Qtek S200 and o2 neo

Hi...
i would like to buy a HTC prophet derivate...
as far as i understood from reading the wikipage
there is no technical difference btw e.g.
dopod 818pro, qtek S200 and o2 neo...
However, I oberserved a big difference in price for the latter two in germany (around 80-100 €)... dopod is not available here...
So does anyone knows a reason for this ?
I would very much like to stick to the cheapest one (of course),
but maybe there are some minor differences...
I also read that a dopod with english rom boots faster than a Qtek version with german rom ??
However, one could change this just by loading a new ROM, right ??
thanks for clearing things up...
Marcel

They are the same apart from the badge painted on them.
Well mostly anyway. They differ only in the software each provider adds to the basic specification. For example O2 will add O2 Plus.
You can indeed flash one prophet ROM with the ROM of the other prophet - but be careful otherwise you will end up with an expensive paper weight.
The price difference relies upon the software bundled and the warranty and tech support you get.
QTek costs less because there's almost lacking tech support, but at least you get twice as much of warranty (2 years vs 1 year) than on other brands.
Hi Rayan...
in fact, the o2 Version is cheaper than the QTek one...!
But thats a different story... Just after i ordered the o2 mobile on monday "night", i noticed that the price was higher on tuesday morning (similar to the Qtek) - maybe i asked too much questions
However, i ordered for the cheaper price; lets see if i will get it...
cu.... Marcel
P.S. in generell i have the feeling that technical support is always a bit disappointing... usually you find more help in these kinds of forums
Hint: O2-prices can vary a *lot* between online shop, O2-stores, independent phone stores and the MediaMarkt stores.
Be sure to check that!
cu
Hi ...
yep, true... But i just got my o2 neo last Friday from an internet store and... the display is heavily damaged... one can use it but it has a huge (20x10 pixs) spot of dead pixls...
So.. having bought it in a slightly more expensive o2 store would be nice now as well... lets see...
cheers.. Marcel
