XDA II Sends SMS's multiple times - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi,
anyone have the problem where the XDA II seems to be sending out multiple copies of one SMS to the recipent. I am on O2.
Steve

multiple sms's
Are you using an o2 online payandgo sim in your xda? If so, you'll find its a network issue, not an xda issue, i've had this many a time before, even as many as 100 times the same message has been recieved by a friend of mine. An o2 online trait, btw you only loose one msg from your allowance if this happens

I'm on contract with o2 and have been since xda1. I'm not so sure if it happens with xda2 (noone's complained so far) but with the 1 I would sometimes find I've sent the message twice, sometimes even three times.
I've never checked my bill to see if it appears there though, anyone else on contract and HAS checked?
Cheers
Anthony

On my Xda II I found this was caused by sending ther message adn exiting the inbox immediately. If I wait until the sent message pops up and then exit the inbox it is only sent once.

It happened with mine when I had a dodgy signal, and tried re-sending it. Eventually I sent as many messages as the times I clicked 'Send', despite iot having told me the message failed to send. And I did get charged for all 6 messages (PAYG)

Cannot Recieve or Send MMS

Hi!
I just got my xda2 yesterday and I'm having problems sending and recieving MMS messeges. Whenever I try to send them they never go though and it tries 3 times before aborting. Also I don't recieve MMS messeges properly either. If I try to send a MMS messege to my xda2 from another phone then I get a SMS messege from o2 saying to goto their website to view the picture.
I've tried playing around with the options in the Media Messeging program such as changing the Connect Via: option but without any success.
Any help would be much appricated
Contact O2 customer services & ask them to enable MMS support on your SIM card. That is the reason why you are not recieving the actual message & only getting the SMS alert as your SIM isn't on the N.A.P.
Spot on, that's what I had to do when I got my XDAII. It took about 10 mins for mine to be enabled.
If that doesn't work, then get them to replace the device...when I first got mine they tried to give me a reconditioned one in a "mixup"...in the end I kept it til I demanded they give me a new one....they did!

After Rom Upgrade I got every 5 mins a SMS from an unknown?

Hi guys,
I´ve done the ROM update from O2 Germany (xda_16052ger_o2.exe) on my XDA2. I am using a Vodafone Germany card in my XDA not O2. After the update I receive every 5 mins a SMS from an unknown sender. Often there is no text included, sometimes some stupid messages are included (0211 0203 or "Alles bestens"). It really a pain! Could you please help me?
Thanks in advance - Zockerman
i got a similar thing form orange uk, when they enabled roaming. Every 5 mins or so i got a text from 56347 with letters and numbers in (even had my phone number in the message). They said they had never heard of this problem before. Weird thing was i'd only get the texts when in signal. If out of signal the texts stopped (i.e. didn't stack up and get 100's when i went back in range)
I complained to orange who said it wasn't their problem. Nearly a 1000 texts later and more calls to orange, they left a message to say it had been dealt with. No more texts and no explination!
hi Zockermann,
i think that's something special for us german (vodafone) customers. got to start/einstellungen/telefon/mehr on you device and select Übertragungskanäle Aktivieren hit ok and then again telefon/mehr and deselect Übertragungskanäle Aktivieren. this should do the trick. and don't remeber to do this after every softreset...
Thanks for your really fast replies.
@JAtoAC your "trick" works fine...
My problem ist solved now ... SUPIIII THX
hi JoToAc,
Can you please translate it to english on how to remove the sms from unknown sender.
Many thanks

IPAQ 914

having a strange problem with my new HP Ipaq 914 (windows mobile 6.1), I am using a O2 payAsyouGo sim (phones sim free)..
Everytime I send a sms mesage I get the message "your text message cannot be sent" appear on the screen and then "message not sent.please try again?" in red writing on the screen. Yet altho its saying message cannot be sent my messages ARE getting through so i,m told ! altough when i send long messages the receiver gets missing text message after afew lines.
The message cannot be sent alert happens in about 6 out of ten messages sent and is very annoyng as i,m never sure if they get thru or not witout ringing to find out.. I,ve got all the settings correct as far as i no with the call center and user password, also got it set as wap2 on the mms settings, altho i,ve tried wap1.2 no differance, the gateway and server addresses are correct otherwised no text's would be send at all.
I,ve been pulling my air over this since i got the phone at Xmas..
Hope someone can shed some light on this ..
Have you checked with your service provider? is it a service issue with the cellphone company?
yea i checked with the provider, all my settings are correct, it does the same with other sims an my sim works in other phones..
Sometimes it says message was sent and other times , (mostly) its says not sent, yet they are all sending ! very annoying
I have had that issue with my old Toshiba G900 and HP 914C.
It is about the your sim providers credit message service.
After a call and after sending a message, you would get a service message about your remaining credit. That pop-up messages are not suitable with some of the wm6.1 builds of some devices.
Also you messages are sent although you get that message.

delay recieving sms

sometimes i get my sms late, although it says the exact time the sms was sent, i still recieve it 2 hours later,
when i send an outgoing message, all my sms's come flooding in.. is there a fix for this.. is anyone else experiencing the same prob ??
i am on rom 1.66, official htc
what full rom version you using?
what network you on?
country?
has this been happening long time or recently?
it has been happening recently it was more common before the sms fix, its not all sms's just sometimes, and sometimes i dont recieve the sms at all
i am in uk, on o2 network, using the htc 1.66 rom, the one off the htc website,
i am SO close to selling this and getting an iphone
Give O2 a ring, I had this issue with my Nokia E90, and it turned out to be a corrupt message on their servers.
thanks mate,
dont think its the network mate, gave them a call.. cud it be the htc, becos the sms problems over the past are well known !

its a network problem genrally
delayed sms sound
I have similar problem on htc iolite since the new coocket roo303oom. The message sound is delayed to when i unlock my screen.
Im having exactly the same problem. Im on o2 uk and its really starting to get on my tits.
I sometimes get them an hour or 2 after they are sent, yet they are date stamped with the time they were actually sent. Did you manage to get to the root of the problem? I called o2 weeks ago about it and they just suggested i try a new sim, which they promptly sent me but it has made absolutely no difference. Is this a phone problem or a network problem?
Both of you on O2, I doubt it's got something to do with the phone.
sort of same issue with my HTC HD2 on Voda UK.
MEssages being sent or recived are not arriving on my phone!!
thinking of getting rid of phone now!!
just to annoy you mine works fine on virgin in the uk
Mine works fine on T-Mobile too
SMS delay

this is a widespread problem with htc's , if u google , late sms, you wil find, people on all networks are having this problem
i have contacted them and they say it could be the phone
Hi everybody,
I'm still experiencing this problem. That happened after the last ROM upgrade (see attached screenshot for current versions).
The message arrived a couple of hours later. Not it's about 24 hours or I don't receive the messages at all.
This might be a coincidence, but I often was browsing with Opera when the messages finally showed up.
I'm using Zenyee disable htc messaging 1.2 as I'm syncing with an Exchange 2010.
It's definitely not the provider, but the phone. I've put my simcard in a standard cell phone where the messages arrived in an instant.
Anybody got an idea?
It not the network, its a file in HTC phones. I havent been able to figure out what was causing it until now. I am 90% sure I know the culprit, but I am not 100% sure. I am on a TP2 and I just ran across this problem today after I installed a cooked rom I made, before everything was fine. I am in the process of testing this theory out. I should have a better idea by either days end, or at latest by tomorrow. I am testing 3 packages out at the moment to see if my theory is correct.
Will keep you posted.
I have the same problem too or sometimes I only get the text if I unlock the phone then I get 3 texts at once also sending text if it has more then 160 but less than 180 (i think ) then ppl don't seem to get my text weird no lol
I've had this problem in my HTC Trinity...
Fortunately I don't have it in the Leo...

HELP! New Network Messages Problem WM 6.1

hi guys i really need help here.!
here's the story.. yesterday i went out shopping and had to swap my sin card (giffgaff uk) with my mums (o2 uk) so we could contact.
However, when i put that o2 sin in my phone, every five minutes this message pops up saying New Network Message
01704 0151 01695 01772
it post a lot of different area landline numbbers like above.
I thought it was a problem with my mums o2 siM, but when i swpped back, these messages still appeared on my giffgaff sim. my phone is the wm6.1 TG01 (see my sig)
when i got home, i tried a couple of different siMs but this message still keeps on popping up. it comes up as a text message with those area codes displayed. when i click on them, it says 'veriry phone number' i pressed call but the call aint go through. i even went as far as a hard reset, but this still occurs on different sims! please help, is something wrong?
as I'm typing this now, the messages still appear.
it seems to stop if i put the phone in flight mode. im 100% sure it is not a problem with this ROM. i have beeen using it for many months. thanks a lot, any replies will be grately appreciated.

I see the below post was in February 2011. I have just been to Southport for the weekend & my phone was bombarded with text messages from the above number with no message. I have a Manx Telecom sim which is part of O2. I had to switch the phone off to avoid roaming charges! I must have received about 40 texts - any clue what this is about?
Thanks
Roy
01704 is the dialling code for Southport, and 0151 and 01695 are for Liverpool and Skelmersdale/Ormskirk respectively.
Coincidence? Interestingly they are all in the same area of the UK.

Oh my word!
I posted this exactly 2 years ago - wow!
Apologies if this doesn't help, but I think after a couple of weeks the problem managed to just stop and went back to normal... Strange.
What device are you using? This may of course be related to Windows Mobile as I was using at the time.
Cheers.
