Hi Guys,
My O2 BlueTooth Clip just arrived; I unpacked it and whacked it into the charger for a few hours till the light went Blue.
I enabled BT on my XDA II, turned on the headset and went in to bond to it.
No such luck... it just keeps saying no devices found etc etc.
I've tried switching from "on" in BT Setting to "discoverable", neither work.
Also tried ticking the Authentication Passkey box in BT Settings, no change.
The Clip, just flashed a nice purple for a couple of minutes ( as the manual says it will ), and beeps three times every 10-20 seconds, then turns off.
Anyone out there tell me what I'm doing wrong please?
Cheers

hey mate,
not sure how the bluetooth headset you're using looks like but the problem might be the same when bonding with the jabra. for this headset, i believe it has to be turned off first before bonding can happen. what happens is i turn on the discoverable mode of the xda and then i have to press on the headset power button and continue pressing for at least 5 more seconds. when the light becomes solid blue that's the time the xda can find the headset. then bonding occurs...works for me...and unless i'm doing something different then anyone's free to correct me anytime
hope that helps
robson
Hiya,
I tried that; unfortunately it did not seem to work.
I placed the XDA II on discoverable, and had the BT Clip switched off, then I went into Bond device and started a search.
I then held down the BT Clip's button for 2 seconds to turn it on.
It came on, and a few seconds after that, the XDA II concluded it's search and came back with nothing found.
Thanks for the info, I will hold out and see if anyone else has other ideas.
By the way, the BT Clip is the official O2 headset, so if you want to see what it looks like you can just check under accessories in the myxda site.
Cheers

No worries man,
For the FIRST time bonding, just press the on-off button for a much longer period, 8 seconds, then it will be discovered.
When I just bought it this afternoon, I tried that for a long time and can't bond it the same way just like you. Because we thought that only requires 2 seconds. Actually, it's not. Read the instruction carefully for the FIRST time bonding. You need 8 seconds pressing the button.
Hope this help.
Hiya Chris,
You are a champion.
Thank you so very much mate, it worked straight away.
Have a great weekend.
WikedBlade
You are welcome.
Indeed, anyone knows the way to use this headset for listening MP3?
Is it possible?
Thanks.
Hehe,
I was about to ask the exact same thing.
When you play a song or something in media player, it won't send it to the BT Clip Headset; not sure if it can!?
Anyone know for sure?
Cheers

Hi,
does anyone know how is it possible to disable the LAST NUMBER REDIAL function? If my BT headset is in my pocket it happens many times, that the "-" button is pressed and it activates the LAST NUMBER REDIAL. It is very annoying....you can imagine. Is there any REGISTRY hack or somehing like that to solve this problem?
THX
That has to be one of the most annoying things!
Especially when you are having a moan about someone after the original call!!
Vijay??
Nobody has the same problem?
me too - it happens for me because I changed the LaunchAPEnable registry setting from 1 to 0 to send the sound to my headset over BT
WOlfgang
Can you clarify this problem? Which button is it that's being pressed? Hardware key or on the headset?
Explain clearly and I'll look into it and if I can help...
V
Vijay, you're too kind for your own good.. heh heh. (but we all appreciate it )
I had this problem with my BT headset and speaking for myself, it's when you hold down the button on the headset, you'll initiate last number redial.
If you just press the button you'll launch Voice Dialler..
I used to keep my BT headset in my pocket and I had both these issues.. eventually I resolved both of these problems by buying a £3 neck strap off ebay and wearing the headset round my neck..
cheers,

BT on for nearly 2 weeks!!
gaspx: there is a technique I'm working on which might help us out here.
It's messy and very very early stages right now, and sent me over the edge last weekend. But if the technique works, it'll open some very interesting doors. Please remind me in a few days. I'm afraid that I can't think of a quick solution, but in my usual style, an unnecessarily complicated solution might surface...

i have had the same problems aswell...
although i have been looking into the phone tools that only turn the bluetooth on when you have a phone call,
i am wondering if that will allouw bluetooth to turn on when transfering audio
VJVolubilis will automatically enable bluetooth and transfer audio (or attempt to).
V
Anyone figure out a way to do this yet? It sucks because I keep accidentally calling people from my headset.
I've looked around for a solution to this problem for a while now. Anyone come up with something? Vijay?
Any development on this issue yet? I accidently called twice today. Very annoying because I kept my BT headset in pant's pocket. Please help, Vjay and others professors.
How about powering down the headset? Maybe I don't get it but....
I just triple-checked, my Motorola H500, H820 & H700 will reconnect when I power them back up & press the button once as long as the phone's BT is on, even mid-call. Do these newfangled machines not offer that? What I do is answer the call on the unit w/ one ear and if I think it'll be more than a minute, I put the headset on the other ear to power it up, press to connect, and I don't miss a word (not on the H820, I'll take a pause to switch to that one when I pull it out of my gadget-laden diaper bag. Every mom needs a BT headset!). I think it'll hook up even during ringing, but calling from my skype seemed a little overkill for this response.
(I'm using a modified/very-simply-reduced version of the Jaguar ROM on a wizard at the moment, and many of Vijay's venerably ingenious tools.)
Hi,
I have a couple of questions:
1) I have a default corporate install 02 Exec and a Motorola BT H3 headset.
When the devices are all paired up, I can receive incoming calls no problem. But when I try and initiate a call from the headset by tapping it, I sometimes get a responding beep from the voice dialling software, other times not. When I don't get an audio response, the device just doesn't seem to even notice and nothing changs on the screen.
I have tried all the usual, re-pairing, reboots etc, but no luck.
I also can't pin down exactly when it does it. Sometimes I can start a call when the device is in 'standby' ie if I haven't used it for a while, other times not.
My next step is to find someones phone and test it with that and see if it is the headset or the exec.
2) My backlight does not come on when I tap the screen or a key despite having ticked the correct setting to enable this. Each time I have to press the power button.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
thanks,
/Mad
Ok,
have now done a complete hard reset and a new corporate install and the BT headset is stll not working 100% of the time.
I have tested it on another phone and it works a treat there, so it is not the headset.
thanks,
/Mad
Scrap the below info. This only works if the Exec has been off for a short time. Anything longer than a couple of minutes and it doesn't switch on with a tap.
I have O2 swapping it out over the next couple of days. Let's see if these issues are widespread. but judging by the responses to my pst, I take it I am the only one having trouble?
/Mad
Ok,
With problem 2) I have found that if I do a hard reset and install as O2 rather than corporate, when I open up the device in clamshell mode the backlight comes on and if it is already open, a tap on the screen or key does switch on the backlight.
So, this particular 'issue' appears to be related to the type of install. That is it works in O2 but not in corporate mode.
Still no joy with the intermittant BT headset voice dialling.
Either way, I have O2 swapping it out over the next couple of days. Let's see if these issues are widespread
/Mad
Last night I updated to the most recent O2 ROM (as per their website) and now...
it appears that the first time I press the BT headset button, nothing happens, but then on the second press it brings up the voice dial software.
I have had a damn good trawl through all the other posts about voice dialling and it seems that the first press connects the headset to the exec and the next button starts the app.
Is this correct? Anyone else had similar problems?
thanks for your time.
/Mad
I had similar behaviour when I used my SonyEricsson HBH65 headset with my Exec. When I bought a Jabra BT800 suddenly my Bluetooth experience was transformed, and the combination works perfectly.
I think the latest models of headset work much better with the Exec than those a year or two old.
Maybe this helps. Hope so.
Thanks for your reply.
I took my BT headset back to the shop today and got them to try a jabra (don't know which version) it still wasn't bringing up the voice dial software every press.
Spoke to O2 support today and they admitted that BT is flakey on the Exec and that it is a known fault with HTC.
Oh well, at least it isn't just me!

Hey guys,
First off, I must say that although I am a new user on these boards, I've scoured them thoroughly before posting this. I also must say that everything I've seen on these forums have helped me LARGELY with setting up my lovely Universal. I owned an MPx200 SmartPhone before this, so I was familiar, and the pointers that everyone has posted have allowed me to get my device fully customized in about 3-4 days (I'm a busy dood too!).
Anyways, onto my issue...I'm not sure if this is the way that it is supposed to behave, but let's say that I have PHONE and BT on in my Comm Manager...now, if I get into my office and turn my Samsung WEP200 BT Headset OFF, all calls that come in will be automatically picked up/answered by my device. It's quite messed as I don't think the actual phone mic/earpiece are activated....as if it's looking for the BT headset, gives up, and just connects the call but I cannot talk to the caller. If I turn my BT Headset back on, all works properly.
Basically, my issue with this is that I'd like to power off my BT headset while still leaving the BT Radio ON on the Universal for ActiveSync, etc.. Is there something I'm missing, or do I have to have BT off everytime the Headset is off?
I read about Buzz' BT_headset_fix3.cab and ended up installing it, however I'm not totally sure what it does so I don't want to remove it, then realize it opens up a new can o' worms...
Anyways, if anyone has any ideas or similar behavior with their Uni's, please let me know...It's not crucial, however it is my one and only annoying problem with this device.
Thanks in advance guys!!
Using my 8525 for a bit over a month now, and I love the phone. Plenty of hacks/tweaks/edits and the phone is just how I like it right now.
Driving a 2005 Acura TL with the built in HandsFree Link and the phone paired seamlessly.
Recently, I notice that while on a call, sometimes the BT Link will drop and automatically transfer the call to the handset. This only happens here & there, not every call. Once call so far after I hung up in the car, the phone was still on and I ended up leaving someone a 6 minute voicemail of me driving, listening to music.....that can be dangerous!!!
Any help or suggestions?
Thanks,
John
i HAD SOME DISCONNECTS WHEN I RECEIVING MESSAGES..IS THAT IT?
No, it will just drop the bluetooth signal mid-call, then to get the car to recognize the phone again, I have to turn off the car and turn it back on to reset connection.....

I've had the same problem, only once or twice in about a week, using my Jawbone bth headset. Very disconcerting, but survivable. I can see where losing the car pairing might be a bit more problematic.
I wonder if this is because of the /weak/ Bth stack on the TyTN???
-Humbert
Possibly. I thought I saw some upgrades for the BT Stack on here somewhere but now I cant seem to track them down.
Something about the BT Radio shutting down or going into sleep mode after a while and a registry edit to keep it on at the sacrifice of minimal battery life which is fine by me...
Didn't read you mentioning it, but does bluetooth power off during the breaking of the link? If it does, read on and try the following..
not sure if this will help, but try to disable your auto power off options, uncheck the on battery power and on external power..
I had this solved some bluetooth problems especially using the Hermes Widcomm hack and MSI Blueplayer..
Yes, the BT does turn off, but then on again automatically as soon as the call is ended.
Where are you talking about? Is this in the registry or the BT Settings? I was not sure if the WidComm stack is fully functional as of yet, if so, is it in the Wiki?
Thanks again,
John
The WidComm stack is definitely NOT fully functional yet. One of the problems I have with this stack is that, the bluetooth will power off when my wizard turns off or goes into standby, which is not normal!
Not it is not a registry setting, but it is just how it behaves on my system. Sorry for not being a help... I know how the MS Stack pisses people off..
Best regards,
Eugene
Hey, every little bit of info I can get helps....
Thanks for the info on the WidComm Stack....I might just wait and deal with the MS untill the WC is fully functional and possibly in CAB format....just to make life all the easier!
OK, So today my phone would not drop the BT signal from my car.....after being home for 4 hours, it was still trying to use the HandsFree when recieving or making calls....took me a minute to figure out because the dialer skin I have is black at the top, so I could not see the headset icon at the top and was wondering why I could not hear anyone or use speakerphone.
Hopefully it was just a freak accident and wont happen again, but just incase, any suggestions?
Is there any way to force the hermes to keep bluetooth turned on? Mine turns itself off whenever it feels like it. Perhaps a small app that runs every time power button is pressed to check and enable bluetooth? Fed up of my hands free kit not working cos the bluetooth has turned off again...

I have the same issue with mine. Has anyone replied to you with a fix? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Postage
Mine too... a right pain in the arse when you've started driving and realise the car kit isn't connected. For now its worth keeping the 'Wireless' on the today screen just to keep an eye on the BT status!
Hello Together,
I have/had the same problem. Now I have the Jetware BT (http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm) stack on my MDA Vario II. With this stack the BT is more stabe. Not complete but better and the audio quality with hands-free devices is better. With this program you can create shotcuts to turn BT on and off and these shortcuts you can assign to your hard buttons. So you can quickly turn on BT when you recognize that BT is off.
Hope that helps
Greetings Pudl
