What kind of SIM works with XDA - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I have unlocked a ATT SX56. Its working wonderfully. THANKS TO XDA DEVELOPERS.........
I tried 3 sims and only one is working. Does anyone knows the constraint does it works only with a 8K or 16K or 32K sim.

It should work with any sim that operates on 900/1800 or 900/1900 depending on your vesuion of phone. What errors do you get when you put in the sims that wont work?

Unlocked XDA with O2 SIM

:?:
I have an unlocked XDA working with an Orange SIM, I have been given an O2 SIM by my company and want to use it with my XDA, but when I put the O2 SIM in my XDA it will not receive any signal. I tried a T-Mobile SIM and this seems to work ok, but the O2 SIM will not connect to the network. Is this to do with the fact that I have unlocked the XDA?
When I unlocked the XDA I ude the XDAunlock utility and do not have a copy of the lock code. Does any body have ant ideas please?
Frootmig...
Are You sure, that the O2 Sim is working? Have you tried it in an other phone?
How old is this SIMcard? I know that there were som eproblems with a view SIMcards.
It's no problem of the unlocking.

Both T-Mobile and Orange in the UK use the 1800 band, the O2 sim uses the 900 band, I would be interested to know if a Vodafone sim will work, can you get hold of one and try it?
My guess is if you have brought the phone 2nd hand it is barred on O2, due to the fact that cross network barring did not start till about the middle of last year if the phone was reported lost/stolen etc etc before then it will still work on the other networks, also make sure you have the setting so it can pick up signal on the 900mhz (O2 Vodafone) or it will never work.
:? Hi, Cruisin thru, lonegunman and lumpistefan
Thanks for your replys, the O2 SIM has been tried in an XDAII and works ok. The phone is not lost or stolen I have bought from the guy with the XDAII and I was with him when he bought the XDA I.
As far as I know the GSM is set to 900/1800 (its a model 10A), does it need to be set to just 900 for it to work with O2?
The SIM card is approx 1 year old and works ok in an XDA II.
Unfortunately I do not know anybody with a Vodaphone SIM.
I will try changing the band to 900 and see if this works, I assume this is done via the bootloader method (holding power button while pressing reset).
Many thanks , any other ideas would be appreciated.
Frootmig.
Have a seach round on here I think you will find that it is a sim card fault and you need a new one.

Attention USA users of O2 XDA Exec / T-mobile

I have a UK purchased O2 XDA exec, but now live in the USA. The O2 XDA exec is supposedly unlocked for any sim cards (I have been using a Virgin sim in the UK fine) .
I purchased a PAYG USA T-mobile sim that won't work, anyone got it working, or if I need a different kind of sim?
As soon as you put in the sim, it comes up with incorrect sim message.....
Is it possible that O2 could have it unlocked to European or UK but Locked to USA sim? Strangely there does not seem to be any way of putting in an unlock code in any case.... it just gives the incorrect sim message..............
Hopefully it will work with another sim???!!!
Any help greatlt appreciated!
I have a qtek 9000, which was never locked. I live in Poland, and tried 3 sim cards from plus gsm. They all gave the same message you are getting. The only card that worked successfully was the plus gsm 3g sim card. Also, cards from another company worked. There seems to be some difference in 'new' and 'old' sim cards, and the universal is very tempermental if you don't have the right one.

I have an O2 XDA EXEC from the UK which I purchase from a friend and have him sent to me here in the US. I am using Cingular without any problems.
Remeber guys, Not all operators in the US use the same frequencies/sim types as their European Counterparts.
If the sim is trying to operate on a frequecny that the universal is not able to use, then it might cause this problem.
superseagulls:
As far as I know - a device which is SIM UNlocked cannot be locked to specific SIMs.
It is far more likely that the cellular operator that you have purchased your new SIM in the USA from is using different frequencies than are supported by or in some cases selected within your device;
OR (possibly) the operator puts some usage limitations/locks within the SIM - ask your new operator about using GSM devices which are not purchased from them and which frequencies are used.
I suggest you initially ask them anonymously in case they DO have problems with devices other than their own
jasjar on T-mobile
I am using a jasjar on T-Mobile in the USA. I got 3 phones on a family plan, took the SIM out of one to put in jasjar, and it has worked with no problems. I told the sales lady I would be putting the SIM into a 3rd party device, and she didn't see any problem with that. It was a Motorola phone, but I don't have the model number offhand.
Cheers.

Your PAYG sim might be looking for special settings on the T-Mobile phone. When I workjed at T-Mobile UK we tied the Java extras on the SIM to the handset, so if you used a non t-mobile handset you didn't get the extra features.
You probably have an old 8k or 16k SIM,
Is it more than a year old,
The XDA Exec etc all require the latest 32k SIMs to work,
You should have no problem with T-Mobile USA just explain you need an updated SIM for a new phone
I have the same problem with Optus, Australia. Anyone know what frequency they run on?
Frequencies:
USA/Canada GSM 800, GSM 1900. UMTS 1900. UMTS 800
Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Oceania: GSM 900, GSM 1800, UMTS 2100
South America: A mix of the above
The only SIMs which look for specific firmware in the US are TracFone and Net10. The SIM probably needs to be replaced. This is aproblem in other newer phones too

Prepaid SimCard does not work on Jasjar

Someone help please. I got a UK Jasjar from a friend, tried to use Singapore (both M1 & Starhub) prepaid sim, though both registered a signal on the phone, I can't call out or call in on both Simcard; but it worked well with Postpaid Sim Card from both telco.
Is the locked from using pre-paid sim? how could it overcome this?
I suppose you have a problem with your radio. Try updating a newer radio rom (i.e. 1.09).

MDA on ATT 3G SIM card?

I have an MDA that I would like to use on ATT's network, but I hear that they are only using 3G SIM cards now. This is not a 3G phone, so does anyone know if this would work? Would I need a new ROM, or would it "just work"?
Thanks for any and all help!
3G sim works on wizard
Bro-
I use AT&T and I can verify that the AT&T 3G sim works on a wizard...it works in my wizard!
I didn't have to do anything special. Hopefully you have a G3 so you can sim and super-cid unlock fairly easily.
P.S. Go Spurs Go! I do love Avery Johnson, though!
the 3G sim card might work, but getting 3G fast internet won't.
It works. I use a 3G sim as an emergency prepaid number and I make and receive calls/sms/mail/everything fine using EDGE. No different than using a standard SIM.

Hi, thanks for the answers, but i already try to format in fat32, didn't work...
I try my sim in another phone that i have e works fine, i try my wifes Sim in my phone and it nothing...
So what i think is, because i use Mobilicity and they use "The network uses the UMTS IV frequency band, also known as AWS, to provide UMTS (with HSPA) service.[16] Using this band, user equipment transmits at 1710–1755 MHz, and receives at 2110–2155 MHz. AWS is the same frequency as Wind Mobile and Videotron in Canada and T-Mobile USA. Like WIND and Videotron, Mobilicity does not have a 2G, EDGE, GPRS GSM Network."
My phone because, i don't know what, stop working in this frequency...
Please help me...
Thanks
I'm having the same problem, intermittent detection of SIM card, mostly NOT detecting it!
The SIM works fine in a duplicate LEO, running exact same ROM. And yes, the phone is unlocked.
Do the card holders in the phone fail? How likely is this?
Peace

Looking at Settings > Personal > Security and Privacy Settings > Set up SIM card lock > on the non-working phone the SIM lock is on but not on the other.
How do I disable the lock? Well, obviously by inputting the SIM code but what is it? Even without the SIM it is requesting a code, but I have no idea what it is....
Peace
Am I being really thick here and this is telling me the phone isn't actually unlocked to my network?
Peace
