Hi,
Contacts Pro looks nice, does someone know how to assign this app to act like my default phone program ? Where can you set this ?
thanks,
They all (and Caller ID) suck! There's no good caller id software for pocket pc phone edition.
NO REGEDIT WORK AROUND?
OTHER WISE THE I-MADE CALLED ID WAS BETTER THE ALL OTHER PROGRAMS MENTIONED.
BUT I AM NOT INTERESTED INSTALLING NEW APS FOR IT! THE WM5 SYNCS WITH OUTLOOK.
THANK YOU
Photo Contacts Pro V4 works well. It's Compatible with WM5 and you can also assign different ring tones and phone profiles.

I bought it and I really regret it. It does not work when you are using the password option in WM5 and that really sucks becasue who is willing to use his valuable Pocket PC without at least a password protection ?

Whats a god way about going about per contact ringtones?

I'm searching now, but phoneext has been the only thing I found, and I never really liked it since it took over a lot of the functions of the phone.

Works for SMS messages also. The author mentions it can't handle large contact databases. He doesn't give a specific number but it works fine with my contact list 600+ contacts. Also allows you to assign tones by contact category (my main use since this is far easier than individual tones). BTW you should realize that in your contacts edit view you can assign a ringtone to the contact along with their photo.

haha, dang, I didn't realize that was there in the per contact edit.
Thanks!
I used Photo Contacts PRO (Pocket PC Edition) by PocketX Software Inc.
Editing the contacts info seems to be bugged as far as updating phone numbers and other info. At least on my phone. However everything else on it works great. You can select a different ring tone for each contact. Also allows you to set default ringtone for users not in your contact list. Also has a better appointment interface and several other goodies. I highly recommend.
You can do this without the need for third-party apps... right from within your Contacts applet. Just edit the contact and assign a ring tone to him/her from the available drop down.

Alternative for Photo Contact (IA_CallerID) ?

Hi all,
After I did the BS Hack I installed Caller_ID_RC13.cab. Since I'm not looking for anything fancy I figure I might as well go with the free Photo Contact program that comes with the device (in Ext_ROM).
But recently I found that Photo Contact has conflict with PhoneAlarm (which I use, and love, and is definitely not going to stop using) ... so I've been looking for an alternative program for Photo Contact.
All I'm looking for, is just a program that'll display photo's associated with contacts when I have an incoming call. If I can also assign special ring tones to certain contacts, great, but that's not even a must.
What do you guys use and suggest?
Speed and stability of the program is more important than fancy apperance ...
BTW, is there any way to remove the Photo Contact program without doing a hardreset?
Thanks,
(and BBTW, as good as PhoneAlarm is, it sure seems to have conflict with a lot of programs)
I use PhotoContacts Pro - aside from assigning photos to each contact, ring tones can be assigned to groups and contacts also.
The only way to uninstall the MS photocontacts program is to open the cab file using WinCE Cab Manager, look what files and registry entries are involved and manually delete them from your device.
Thanks. I tried the PhotoContact Pro and I like it ... it is a LOT better than the freebie photo contact program ...
Now, does it have any software conflict with any other program that you know of?
inesoft address book is better in my opinion. much lighter n faster than photocontact pro

I have no problems with PhotoContacts Pro. It's a bit slow to load at startup (after soft resetting) but I hardly have to soft reset my device. The following are loaded in Storage; WorldMate Pro, PhotoContacts Pro, Resco Suite, SK Tools, SPB Pocket Plus, TT6, and Pocket Informant, plus contact photos, rings, and temporary internet files. TT6 West EU + USA + Canada maps are in a 2GB SD card. Main memory contains only Windows.

Probably stupid: assigning rings to contacts

Hi,
I am quite new in the converged world
I have a TyTN and I would like to know it is possible to assign specific ring tones to some contacts as this is possible on simple phones. I have looked in the control panel but have not been able to locate such a possibility.
Sorry if I am missing something very obvious here.
Best regards,
Murat
PS. This site is just gorgeous in terms of the quality of the information (I mean it; I am a regular user of other information sites on PDA and none of them has the same quality of information as here - even if I do not always understand some concepts on the phone aspects of these tools since these aspects are quite new to me).
Not something I do but here are a couple of links to check out:

No need for an external program. You can assign individual ringtones to contacts directly in the contacts application. When you edit a contact, you'll see a "ringtone" field. (at least in WM6; probably also in WM5, but I'm not sure.)

Just to confirm - Yes this is available in WM5 edit contact menu.
Cheers

Thank you very much to both of you! Yes, this works with WM5 too but PI was hiding the field from the default display of the contacts and this is why I was not able to locate it. I have been able to add it and now I can change it.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
Murat

Please please help - Caller ID/Incoming Call Prob

Guys,
I've posted this before but nobody has helped me yet.
Basically put I have a couple of contacts for which I have more than one contact number (home, Mobile etc..)
Anyway, when i receive a call from one of these contacts, the name is not resolved, the picture is not shown and the custom ringtone I have chosen (all by vanilla stock rom means) does not ring!!
I have seen this happen with "Exact" matches to contacts in my Contacts list and also if I have entered the number as "+447760....." instead of using the default "07760...." prefix for UK mobile numbers (as I'm abroad a lot so need to use that to dial them) it also refuses to recognise that they are in fact the same number - something my Artemis did without an issue.
Please help me resolve this - it's ruining my HD experience!
Thanks
21 views and no replies - come on guys please - going on a trip tomorrow and I need this to be sorted if poss - doing my head in!!
I had exactly the same problem on my X1, which I have now sold so I could get a HD. I was on o2 uk using itje's 5.061 rom. What network are you on and which rom and what software have you installed? maybe something we both installed is causing the problem
Right, I'm on a stock rom on an unbranded Touch HHD on the Vodafone network. Programs I've installed are as follows:
Changscreen,
HDTweak
Advanced Config
S K Tools
Battlog
Fingerkeyboard
Resco file Explorer
Very strange - it might have happened since I restored a backup but I doubt it.
Try reducing Phone>Call ID match number in Advanced Config.
I have similar problem... Just installed dutty 3.0X and when i sinchronized all my contacts become duplicated, so i deleted manual only the first ones. And now when someone from the contacts is ringing i dont get picture or his name and I am sure that i have the same number in the contact list. Odd
Anyone have any other ideas about this? Still causing me some considerable pain - I seem to recall it started after I started to reconcile the outlook contacts with my PC - this may have caused a different contact ID (or something?)
same problem and no solutoin... :-(
i managed to fix this by reassigning the phone numbers to the contacts page. It seems to occur when you use 3rd party contact management apps before you have assigned numbers.
Works fine now
mslookout inserts spaces into phone number, and prolly phone cannot recognise incoming number having spaces in phonebook?
I also cant fix it by changing CallIDMatch in the registry. It's bizarre as I have 2 contacts in my favourites: both are now set to No's starting with '0' yet when one texts me, their name shows and when the other does, their number shows. hard and soft resets have also failed to resolve this, HTC helpdesk no use at all, also logged with Windows helpdesk in case it is a microsoft, not htc, problem.
Am keen for other things to try, open to suggestions....
Am disappinted and amazed that what is otherwise a great phone, can't do what cheap cr*ppy phones, can , ie show the name of the person calling or texting.
Have you tried using Advanced Config and increasing Call ID match to 9 or 10?
No caller name when receiving Incoming Call
This may be an old thread, but sometimes the newer ROMs also have the same problem.
This happened to me after updating my from from WM 6.1 to WEH 6.5.3. So, I am updating this thread on how I resolved my problem.
Step 1. Edit the Registry and change the CallIDMatch value to 7 (the original value was 10).
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CallIDMatch"=dword:00000007
Step 2. Soft Reset (power off and restart)
Before I did this, I needed to copy my contacts from SIM to the Outlook Contacts list, so in my Contacts list, I have "double view" of both lists on the same screen - frustrating.
After this change of the Registry key value, I erased all my contacts from the Outlook Contacts list (use the Hide Sim Contacts function) because I prefer to have my default contacts to be from the SIM card instead of the Outlook Contacts. This way, I can be assured that all newer contacts will be stored on the SIM card and I do not have to worry about losing contacts if I change phones.
