Upgraded ROM now no SIGNAL - HELP!!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I have XDA originally 02:
Radio version 4.21.00
Upgraded the ROM to T-Mobile 4.00.21 (made it in the Kitchen)
Then made a phone call all worked fine. Found the band switcher, obviously this is the USA ROM, curiousity made me press the 1900 band. Then no more radio after that, I reset it, and changed it back to European radio. Still no radio. Failing this I changed the ROM again to 4.00.05 ENG ppc2003 but still no radio. It says "No Signal" the SIM is still fine, works in my 'normal' phone. The ROM I cooked didn't include a Radio Ugrade, and since I changed the ROM once more, shouldn't this eliminate the problem of the Network Band??
I'm sure that I didn't do a RUU. So I'm lost here, how many times to I have to reburn the ROM? Which rom do I need to use to make it work again? Is my XDA toast??
Thanks for your help!! I really need it!!!

When that happened to me I had made the change inside window mobile and it stopped pretty-well everything. The following thread deals with changing the band inside the bootloader :

PW10A1 is identified as PW10B1,please help!

My O2 XDA PW10A1 (as labeled on the back of the device) is identified as PW10B1 in Device Information after updated to wm2003 a30.09 and RSU4.21. How can I get it identified correctly?
PS. Someone told me that there are two different RSU4.21 radios, one is for EU,the other is for Asia.Is there any differences between these two radios?Where can I download a RSU 4.21 radio for Asia?
It doesnt change anything, your phone is still 900/1800 band. If your phone works ok with the existing radio stack I would suggest leaving it alone as upgrading radio stacks can be very risky.
Updating the OS ROM to the correct version will change the iD. Changing the Radio stack is risky and could leave your phone as a paper weight.
When updating I highly suggest the SD method.
Thanks a lot
Thanks guys, for your great suggestions.
same here...

Is Radio 6.25.02 bad? Should GSMBand work with it? .and more

Hi. I started with an AT&T Siemens SX-56 with XDA Developers final 2002 software.
After burning my own 2003 ROM with Lumpi's kitchen, I installed from USB cradle. No probs.
Then I tweaked a new ROM, but it wouldn't work with USB. I had to upgrade it by SD method. Worked fine.
Don't ask me why (maybe I like having all newest versions), but I upgraded the radio using T-Mobile's 2003 updater.
I've since burned a new ROM I made in the kitchen.
My question is: I now have Wallaby Bootloader 5.22, T-Mobile kitchen ROM 4.10.16ENG 02/04/04, and Radio Stack 6.25.02. GSM Band doesn't work anymore. Is there one that will work?
I can sucessfully use Wallaby menu and change back and forth from 1900 to 900/1800, no problem, but,
1) is that the only way I can do it when I travel back and forth to Europe?
2) can I downgrade the Radio stack?
3) what versions (in your opinions) of ROM and Radio are the best/most stable/whatever...? (Internet isn't so important to me, but good cellphone signal is)
Thanks a million!
I love this site! Awesome!!!!!!

p.s. If anyone has questions about SX56 and how to get stuff to work and what happens when you try things, just ask! I've got a spare one I do all my testing on...[/b]
I used 6.24.01 and 6.25.02 RSUs with 900 MHz ... in general there is almost no difference ... both are performing in an acceptable manner. However, I have a personal feeling that 6.24.01 was a bit more stable (I maybe wrong tho).
In all cases, as long as you have a good RSU don't touch it ... it's a risky process unless there is a real need. I didn't try the GSM band switcher my self, but I heard it requires soft reset after.

SX 56 change frequencies on xda rom

Can't switch frequencies to 1900 to use phone in central US. I push 1900 and it says error and goes back to 900 which does me no good.
What can I do?
What RSU version ?
Do you do this in phone settings or GSM band switcher in boot loader ?
Change Frequencies
Not sure what you mean by RSU, but I have the XDA special edition rom 3.17.03 eng and I am doing it in the phone, I don't how to start bootloader. Thanks.
RSU stands for the Radio Stack of the device (the phone thing) ... you can read it in device info ... and if it doesn't support 1900 MHz then it's useless to try it from the phone settings.
Also, your device must be PW10B to work in 1900 .. check the rear sticker
you can start the boot loader by pressing and holding power while soft reset ... then press calendar button to go in the GSM menu.
Got into the bootloader and set to 1900. I have a PW10B1, but device info says I have a PW10A1. Why is this. The phone will now pick up a signal on 1900 but the reception is poor. Looses signal where it used to have a signal.
Radio Version is A.33.02
ROM Version is 3.17.03
Do I need to get a different ROM to get it to match a PW10B1?
Also, can I put my old ROM back on? I have it on disc? Tried to reload from Siemens site and it said I could not load on to this device.
Thanks, you have been very helpful!
It seems you used the 3.17 ROM to unlock ... what was the original ROM ?
well, I 'm the last one to advice on RSU flashing ... it's risky unless really really necessary ... check with your friends in the same area on the best RSU ... ROM doesn't make any difference.
If ok, I would recommend ROM 4.01.00 with RSU 6.25.02 ... you can cook the ROM in the kitchen but leave the RSU action as a last option
Original ROM A30.09 ENG
Radio A33.02
Since last post I figured out how to use XDA tools to get Siemens upgrade ROM back on and now every thing seems to be fine and unlocked which is what I originally wanted to use with Cingular sim. I will have to roam on ATT to use this but is OK since I have free roaming.
If I have any more problems, I will post again.
Thanks!

Unlocking with R6.25.02

Anybody knows how to unlock the T-Mobile XDA with this radio stack. I have downgraded by ROM to 3.17 but the XDAUnlock still wouldn't work. I get Error Getting Unlock Code. Based on what I see it does not seem to be a good idea to downgrade the RSU. If I do downgrade I can't find how to upgrade the RSU back to the current version.
1. Any help?
2. Will the XDAUnlock be modified to support this radio stack?
I agree with you it's not safe to flash the RSU, but if it's the only way then you will have to do it ... or it's better to get the lock key from your operator.
I downgraded the RSU...
Worked!
I tried unlocking the phone...
Worked!
Now I see no signal.... Do I have to upgrade the RSU again?
If so how can I do that?
thanks in advance for your help!!!
Upgraded Radio from uspocketpcphone.com and it worked!!!!!
HI. if you are trying to upgrade the radio stack, make sure that the radio stack is built for what kind of WM OS. For example, if you downgrade or upgrade the radio stack that you with Tmoble, make sure that the radio stack must support you Tmobile OS. I have tried may times and found out that AT And T just suits for AT&T rom, Tmobile, just for Tmobile rom, O2 must for O2 Rom. There is no way that you can swap one radio stack to another rom.
Again, I don't have radio stack 6.25 but I have radio stack 6.24 for Tmoble. I will upload if you need it.
Again, if you don't mind, can upload the radio stack 3.17 for me. thanks.
Please download here:
You were right!!!
I wish I could have read your post earlier.
I upgraded the radio on my own phone (i was working on my friends phone yesterday). Then there was no signal.
I tried downgrading to 3.17 (on yorch.net) and it froze and now my phone is dead. it restarted but it shows no radio version and no signal.
any ideas???

Latest radio for AT&T wireless

Hi,
I have Siemens SX-56 ROM 3.04.00, radio A.20, Protocol 324e4. I'm AT&T wireless customer which was bought by Cingular. What is latest radio version I can load on a phone?
G
Curious as well
Cingular did something to the AT&T network in the Greater Salt Lake area, and now my network is stuck on 310410 (a cingular network I read)... but my phone can't take/place calls 80% of the time now, and I haven't been able to send a single SMS since then... this started about Jun-15-2005... any ideas?
I think I'm good now...
Cooked a Rom in LumpiStefans Romkitchen, WM2003 Final, ROM A.30.09 ENG (Update Siemens had available online once upon a time). This got rid of the 310410 Network ID (well, at least the name is now Cingular, same network)... didn't seem to fix my connectivity issues.
So, after reading what I could on the updateing the Radio ROM, I installed RSU_V6.25.02. This seems to have done the trick, calls, in and out and SMS are all working as expected again... I'll try and post another update later tomorrow after I have had the device up for a bit.
artisticcheese, I suggest you try this combo out, see if that helps your situation... Use the WIKI to find the radio roms... and go to http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ and cook up a similar OS ROM.
Good luck. Ive been fortunate, that all of my tinkering has been painless... although that is the only radio upgrade I tried, I had been playing around with various OS roms prior to this trying to aliviate my issues with out issue, but without improving my situation... 8)
PS. Previously I was at Radio V 6.12 (not listed anywhere)... forget what the original ROM was...
Fixed.
For sure. Any luck yourself?
