Hello, I have a question. I have had two bluetooth headsets a Jabra 250v and now a Motorola H700. I am running a Q-Tek 9000 Universal device with the older ROM, not the latest one from I-Mate. I am receiving awful static even when the device is 1 foot from me. Is there any Bluetooth headset that anyone has had luck with that does NOT have static that actually sounds clear?
Thank you in advance!

 don't feel bad, i've used the most expensive and so I guess the cheaper and the more expensive does not make a bit of difference.
Same problem. QTEK 9000 with Motorola H700 Bluetooth headset. Lots of static... Tried four different brands of bluetooth headsets... and no luck!!
Any solutions ??
bluetooth sucks really....
its a pity that people still continue to make headsets after headsets, gadgets supporting the same lousy technology.....though its proven to suck in all directions....
the irony.....
S
i-mate jasjar & SE HBH660: no statics at all.
I have the Motorolla HT820. No static here too. Plus, with stereo sound to listen to music, nothing can beat that except the size.
Well, this is an interesting article to read.....

The guys who invented bluetooth laugh it out, and admit that the technology sucks and it wont last for long! Ericsson is pulling out of taking the technology further!

dreamtheather i'd prefer to laugh at you quoting an 18 month old article as gospel truth.
an analyst laughed, not the firm.
i'm a retail e-Commerce analyst. I laugh a lot.
why are you trying to incite flames when people are asking for help? if you can't help you may as well say so, or keep silent?
for the record, i have a SPV5000, tried with both orange original rom and i-mate test rom w/ 1.09.00 radio, 2 different headsets (Jabra BT800 and BlueAnt X3 Micro) and always have insufferable static, to the point that i'm tempted to send the device back to Orange (despite living in Sydney!)
any ideas/support would be greatly appreciated, and in my case, a (working) solution will give not just mojo, but a small paypal reward

Well, I was thinking on your *mode*, until i've reached a level of frustration that has no boundaries now! I'm not trying to get people to flame each other....its just hopeless and nothing can be done really, mainly because the design of the technology is the inherent problem. The mode of communication bluetooth uses is extremely prone to static noise and distortion, and nothing much can be done really. We have the latest headsets trying to use DSP technology to filter out the noise, but again, how far can it go really?
I guess the later devices to follow (perhaps BT 2.0 specs) may have better noise tolerance, but for now, i guess its what we have that we have to live with!
Wireless headset, the only option being through bluetooth is not very promising......thats why my rants
Anyway, sorry if i took my ranting a little overboard here!

Looks like BT is not as bad as some have suggested; BT to be adopted as a media streaming standard: http://www.t3.co.uk/news/247/general/general/bluetooth_set_to_replace_wi-fi_at_home
Thanks for ytour well considered reply
Might I add that I don't think you understand the level of static we're talking here. We're not talking the odd bit of crackle, you expect that.....even though my Nokia 6600, T68i, Motorola V3 etc don't crackle at all. We're talking full signal, phone 30cm away, can't hear what the other person is saying at all due do speakler crackle, signal dropout (just the earpiece) and noise.
bah.
and there was me thinking that we could all post our roms and see if there was a correlation. silly me
I agree with JohnH!! This is not some kind of a LITTLE static... I'm literally 40cm away from my QTEK9000 with a Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset, and i barely can hear the person i'm talking to... :x This is so frustrating...
Cheers,
Paulo Rodrigues

I guess, its anyone and everyone who have a BT headset, would end up leaving a rant here.....its so damn horrible really

I've said it before and I'll say it again... bluetooth is a load of old tosh on the Universal... just like the phone!!
I had a similar problem and I tried the headset with another phone and it was fine, so I deleted/repaired it to the M5000, thinking it couldn't be that bad, and it was immediately much much better. You can get a bad pairing that makes things worse than normal, worth a try anyway...
Also recently I installed the latest radio stack this also appeared to make things even better.
Thanks Noony,
I'll try that - the annoying thing is that both my headsets (Jabra BT800, BlueAnt X3 Micro) work fine with my spare phone, a Nokia 6600.
Might be a good point too, I remember the BlueAnt headset was okay first call, second call was back to Jabra rubbish level!
Thanks for your suggestions!
Hi Everyone.
Like you all I have expreimented with low end and hi end bluetooth headsets - and experienced all of the same pain.
I have been able to have success only with the Blueant Suprtooth 1 and II. I know it is not a headset, but if you want an in car device then this is clearly the beast. Sound quality at both ends is just fantastic. Never drops the signal - can move it from car to car - it just rocks.
I get at least 6 weeks of use with the current Blueant Supertooth II between charges. If i need a personal headset when out and about - I simply use the ear pice. Not the best solution buit it works.
Hope that is usefl to someone.
Decided after a week with my new atom that i've had enough. For a $1000 device its not worth all the hassle. Firstly the speakerphone cuts in and out, the device's speakers are too soft so i miss alarms and reminders, the recording microphone is terrible, the camera quality is average but the speed is extremely slow, and to top it all of the screen emits a noise. Theres some srs flaws in this little device. I'm sure that many ppl have had good experiences with their atom but it just doesn't do it for me. I'm switching to a Eten m600+, i heard that it was a good phone. Anyone know much abou them? There not very abundant in Australia.
I'm not going to try and make you see the light about the Atom , but the m600+ was next on my list to purchase. The only thing that swung it for me was the FM Radio on the Atom.
There is a full review on the M600 (not the + version) over of PocketPCThoughts.com. They are working on a review of the m600+, but overall the review was very positive.
I also was tossing up between the 2.
What swayed me to the O2 was the better phone quality,(sound)
and sig strenth.

well i'v the Eten M600+ and your problems are the same for me no problems at all with signal strenght but sound and phone volume are very low. batterie makes noise when charging, camera same as yours but the flashlight sucks it is strange but things like alarms and reminders are working very well(sound to) and bluetooth is the biggest disaster that really sucks batterie life is good but the cpu isn't as fast as my qtek s100
but the 256mb ram really rocks and the screen is really clear
sow take another look at it.
an maybe go for the tytn

Well, I have two Unis and both can't last me longer than a day of heavy use! Actually to be honest there is no such thing as "heavy use" in my world, because the battery can't handle it.
I can listen to music, play a game or prepare for a meeting while going to work but then I risk of not being able to do anything else as my battery is dead!
a 20 min game can cost me a third of my battery's life and that is without sound and the backlight at it's min. Both of my Unis are the same in terms of battery life.
But listen I have had so many phones over the years and I will never go back to any of them as the Uni is the ultimate device out there right now.
Don't waste your time on the tilt if you don't mind the bulk!
That being said I at the moment am thinking of getting the iPhone as its internet browsing speeds on 3G and WiFi are faster. But I'll be sacrificing so much more for that.
You asked tilt or Uni... well without a doubt Uni is the winner! and I'm sure everyone on this forum who doesn't mind the bulk will tell you the same!
OR! you can wait until HTC OMNI come out in October I believe, and it's supposed to be the replacement for the Uni... I'd wait for that before I make a move. But then again I want to get an iPhone so what do I know.
Hope this helped!
Good luck!
P.S. either of my Unis work in a basement of a house or a building where most phones have reception, which is absolutely frustrating not to mention frequent signal loss.
But then again, perhaps all I need is a new battery and all my issues will be solved! Accept for browsing speeds…
Ok I got my HD2 from telstra yesturday.
been having a ball playing with it...
lots of things about it that are well.... different to my last htc phone (tytne II) anyway first thing and a fairly large issue to me.. is the A2DP its great. enter WiFI Oh Dear now it crap... the old unit hardly ever was noticeable on most music.. now I get huge pause while WiFI does its **** before returning to bluetooth..
headset is BLueAnt X5 awesome unit had it for 3 years never missed a beat. best money spent on headset yet.
Any tweaks I remember the tytne/kaiser has a tweak to improove bluebooth activity...
Hi!
I just got my HTC Desire HD and I have moved from Galaxy S and one of the thing I really like is the music controller on headphones.
But I don't seem to like the stock headphones, since I have my own ones that haves this super-bass feature, then I would like to use my old ones.
Is there a headphone jack for HTC Desire HD that comes with this music controller?
I could cut off the stock headphones and do a bit soldering, but not just yet...
I have ordered from ebay a A2DP bluetooth headphone jack, but I think the battery drain is too big.
Also is there a way to disable the call function on this controller? It's kinda annoys me, because if you press really fast the "Play" button then I start calling the last person I have called.
I bought these after days of reading reviews. User reviews are very positive, so is my experience.
It just has a pick up/ hang up option or pauze/play. That will do for me.

Looks really good, but I'm looking for this thing:
http://helmetaudio.com/khxc/media/ccp0/prodxl/CPA10-500x500.jpg
just with the music controller also.
I do have one that comes from iPhone, but it is really low quality - reduces bass.
And it is bit hard for me to control music with just one button.
i use a sony ericsson bluetooth headphone jack, with my own headphones and battery drain is nothing really only problem is the htc music player wont let you use the dolby or srs

Hi fellow dutchman, can I ask where you orderd them and at what price I see the price is MSRP $49 but can only find them at much higher prices here in holland
I'm using the Phillips SHH3580, it's pretty simple with just an answer button, but the ear phone is pretty nice, price is good as well.

Hy fellow dutchmen...
I ordered them for €45,- at Hifi to go in Maarsen. But they jacked up the price. Maybe look for the new version of this headset, the NE-700M. A bit more expensive, but according to the reviews better as well.

thx mate, will check this out
@ regdude:
If you go to Bluetooth settings, and select on the screen the device you need to setup (press for 2 seconds), choose options on the new popup window, and un-check the "telephone" option, you will not have that problem again!
I actually do the opposite with my SE BT headset!
