Hello, I have a question. I have had two bluetooth headsets a Jabra 250v and now a Motorola H700. I am running a Q-Tek 9000 Universal device with the older ROM, not the latest one from I-Mate. I am receiving awful static even when the device is 1 foot from me. Is there any Bluetooth headset that anyone has had luck with that does NOT have static that actually sounds clear?
Thank you in advance!

 don't feel bad, i've used the most expensive and so I guess the cheaper and the more expensive does not make a bit of difference.
Same problem. QTEK 9000 with Motorola H700 Bluetooth headset. Lots of static... Tried four different brands of bluetooth headsets... and no luck!!
Any solutions ??
bluetooth sucks really....
its a pity that people still continue to make headsets after headsets, gadgets supporting the same lousy technology.....though its proven to suck in all directions....
the irony.....
S
i-mate jasjar & SE HBH660: no statics at all.
I have the Motorolla HT820. No static here too. Plus, with stereo sound to listen to music, nothing can beat that except the size.
Well, this is an interesting article to read.....
http://www.unstrung.com/document.asp?doc_id=58585
The guys who invented bluetooth laugh it out, and admit that the technology sucks and it wont last for long! Ericsson is pulling out of taking the technology further!

dreamtheather i'd prefer to laugh at you quoting an 18 month old article as gospel truth.
an analyst laughed, not the firm.
i'm a retail e-Commerce analyst. I laugh a lot.
why are you trying to incite flames when people are asking for help? if you can't help you may as well say so, or keep silent?
for the record, i have a SPV5000, tried with both orange original rom and i-mate test rom w/ 1.09.00 radio, 2 different headsets (Jabra BT800 and BlueAnt X3 Micro) and always have insufferable static, to the point that i'm tempted to send the device back to Orange (despite living in Sydney!)
any ideas/support would be greatly appreciated, and in my case, a (working) solution will give not just mojo, but a small paypal reward

Well, I was thinking on your *mode*, until i've reached a level of frustration that has no boundaries now! I'm not trying to get people to flame each other....its just hopeless and nothing can be done really, mainly because the design of the technology is the inherent problem. The mode of communication bluetooth uses is extremely prone to static noise and distortion, and nothing much can be done really. We have the latest headsets trying to use DSP technology to filter out the noise, but again, how far can it go really?
I guess the later devices to follow (perhaps BT 2.0 specs) may have better noise tolerance, but for now, i guess its what we have that we have to live with!
Wireless headset, the only option being through bluetooth is not very promising......thats why my rants
Anyway, sorry if i took my ranting a little overboard here!

Looks like BT is not as bad as some have suggested; BT to be adopted as a media streaming standard: http://www.t3.co.uk/news/247/general/general/bluetooth_set_to_replace_wi-fi_at_home
Thanks for ytour well considered reply
Might I add that I don't think you understand the level of static we're talking here. We're not talking the odd bit of crackle, you expect that.....even though my Nokia 6600, T68i, Motorola V3 etc don't crackle at all. We're talking full signal, phone 30cm away, can't hear what the other person is saying at all due do speakler crackle, signal dropout (just the earpiece) and noise.
bah.
and there was me thinking that we could all post our roms and see if there was a correlation. silly me
I agree with JohnH!! This is not some kind of a LITTLE static... I'm literally 40cm away from my QTEK9000 with a Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset, and i barely can hear the person i'm talking to... :x This is so frustrating...
Cheers,
Paulo Rodrigues

I've said it before and I'll say it again... bluetooth is a load of old tosh on the Universal... just like the phone!!
I had a similar problem and I tried the headset with another phone and it was fine, so I deleted/repaired it to the M5000, thinking it couldn't be that bad, and it was immediately much much better. You can get a bad pairing that makes things worse than normal, worth a try anyway...
Also recently I installed the latest radio stack this also appeared to make things even better.
Thanks Noony,
I'll try that - the annoying thing is that both my headsets (Jabra BT800, BlueAnt X3 Micro) work fine with my spare phone, a Nokia 6600.
Might be a good point too, I remember the BlueAnt headset was okay first call, second call was back to Jabra rubbish level!
Thanks for your suggestions!
Hi Everyone.
Like you all I have expreimented with low end and hi end bluetooth headsets - and experienced all of the same pain.
I have been able to have success only with the Blueant Suprtooth 1 and II. I know it is not a headset, but if you want an in car device then this is clearly the beast. Sound quality at both ends is just fantastic. Never drops the signal - can move it from car to car - it just rocks.
I get at least 6 weeks of use with the current Blueant Supertooth II between charges. If i need a personal headset when out and about - I simply use the ear pice. Not the best solution buit it works.
Hope that is usefl to someone.
I have the 8125 with the 2.25ROM. As for BT I just currently have a single earpiece (mono).
Can one not listen to audio through the earpiece? I of course understand it's mono but I'm primarily interested in audiobooks.
With that said, is the HT280 compatible with the 2.25ROM of the 8125? I seem to remember some issues that is wasgoing to be then wasn't, but not really caring that much at the the time I don't remember what the verdict was.
If neither of the above will not work can someone recommend a decent pair of wired earpieces? The OEM version that comes with the 8125 are awful and today on the way home I realized (duh) that when I have my MP3 earpiece in the person on the other end of the phone cannot hear me.
Thanks all,
David

I got my HT820s in the mail yesterday. They work fantastic and sound great. No complaints other than the earpieces are a tad thick. They are comfortable and lightweight.. just I look kinda silly with them on . But I like them anyway.
Hey guys! I am an avid reader of this forum and i was just wondering.....i'm looking to upgrade to another HTC phone. I currently have the wizard and i LOVE it! Just curious as to which HTC phone i should upgrade to, Are any of them as "open source" (for lack of a better term) as the wizard? As far as the community and the custom roms go? Any suggestions?
I was looking at the Tilt? is that a good choice?
Also, when i am buying one is there anything to watch out for like there is with the wizard? Like the G3 and G4 versions
TYTN 2 !!!!
Hmmm....i've kinda spent the last few hours just browsing through the forums on the newer phones, apparently there is some kind of video driver issue with the Kaiser....should i wait for maybe the touch cruise?
I will second XabdullahX's vote of the TYTN 2!!!

I also vote that the Kaiser/Tilt/Tytn II is the way to go (I bought the Tilt and am loving it). Its a little different with the key layout than the wizard. I'm getting more used to everything being around the D Pad, but at first I didn't care for this (I still have to be careful not to hang up on a call when trying to press the right soft key). The phone has a ton of memory and is fast.
What you've been reading about in the Kaiser forums on the video driver is that the phone is capable of so much more, but HTC isn't using the proper drivers. What it does do is still very good, and personally I'm very happy with it and feel it was money WELL spent... Supposedly a media player app (don't recall which offhand but its a commercial one) is coming out with a new version that has fixed drivers or something in it. A lot of people are waiting to get their hands on this to see if they can use that to improve some other things.
So if you are a heavy watcher of movies or high performance games, you may want to evaluate the Kaiser/Tilt/Tytn II a little more. But for the majority of the uses of a PPC, its a fantastic phone...
OK, not to brag, but I have my Tilt fully loaded right now with Dutty's 7b ROM and a lot of apps (almost everything I have loaded into the phone's memory and not to my storage card). I have 85MB of free storage memory and 55MB of RAM free. HUGE change compared to the Wizard where you are trying to eek out every bit of space by cramming everything on your SD card and not having but a couple of apps open at a time to conserve precious RAM...
Yep, the Kaiser it is, or if you dont need a keyboard the Polaris.
Surur
I like the kaiser a lot too, but from personal experience, they have some issues with these devices. Hardware and software related. In particular, the BT Stack seems to um, SUCK big time. A couple of my friends had them (Tilts) and they both had horrible BT performance. Either they couldn't connect to certain Headsets/Car Kits or they couldn't walk five feet away from the device while connected without a bunch of static. These are common problems.
I'm waiting to see if they announce some kind of fix for that. It may just be the Tilt versions - not really sure, but BT stack issues are major to me. I always use BT.
apart from the fm radio and no keyboard and screen the cruse is pretty much the same hardware as kaiser so unless that suffer from the same driver issue as kaiser
only the keyboard thing should be the factor of which one to get if you ask me

I must be lucky. I work in a home office upstairs in our house, and I can use my jawbone BT connected to my Tilt and walk downstairs to the kitchen and only get a small amount of scratching sound. When I was using my Wizard, by the time I got to the bottom of the stairs I knew I had forgoten my phone as the scratching and popping sounds were pretty bad.
Could be that this was because I was using the unofficial AKU AT&T ROM (I immediately upgraded to this when I got my Tilt as I at first understood it was an official AT&T upgrade). Now running Dutty's 7b which is based off the HTC rom and my BT sound is even better and more clear than the AT&T roms ever were, so it could be more the AT&T rom than the HTC rom with BT issues.
tilt
i just got my tilt(kaiser) and in my personal oppinon...it totally kicks ass...seriously. i was kinda wondering bc of how much it coses but let me assure it was well worth it
The Kaiser is a terrific device and I'm very happy with it. Ofcourse there are some issues (like the video drivers, and audio glitch) that do not make it perfect for all uses.
If you want to play a lot of games or video or so, don't go for the Kaiser right now - that situation might improve, I'd wait and see what happens.
Note that the Touch variants all have the same issue.
HTC TyTN II and HTC Touch Cruise (same as TyTN II but without keyboard) are the best phones out there.
Call me crazy but I like the wizard still. I have a Hermes 8525, Faraday 2125 and I tried out the Tilt for a day. Not much differant then the Hermes but has a ton of memory. For a smart phone, the Faraday is awesome.

agreed...i LOVE my kaiser....but at the end of the day im always like damn that wizard was one hell of a phone....seriously
i have a 8125 and a 8525 also tried tilt because my friend has one and he let me plaay with it for a day
if your looking for speed of course go to 400mhz but it does not mean that wizard is slow because of frequent change in roms it can match the speed more or less
only thing here is the memory of course tilt has the most; second is tytan and last but not the least is my 8125... what makes the wizard advantageous is that it has a double speaker unlike tytan the speaker is placed at the back it produces less sounds in a process
I dont know if 4gig or 8gig can support the wizard but it has happened to kasier and tytan
IMHO:
one last and important thing that I have noticed is in the wizard forum all of the good rom makers has not made roms nowadays??? that is the only sad part
in kaiser and tytan rom makers are very much active this makes the HUGE difference between the phone

Did you forget XM6R5, That rom is awesome.
yeah aside from mfrazzz... I miss the times when there are too many roms to choose from maybe it is because people here know now about cooking and still I am a noob for cooking and trust cookers t put there files here???
oh well I can only blame myself actually...
As my Nike is bust (see my sig) I will probably be looking to get another HTC phone in it's place. So I'm asking the same question.
From what I've read the Kaiser and TyTn 2 are the best, am I right in thinking that one of these two would be the best phones to have? Like the first post, I'd like a phone that's 'open source' so to speak (ie. popular, lots of mods for it) and WiFi and SD slot.
i can ask nothing more out of my vogue, till i get my hands on the touch HD
My vote is for the Tilt/Kaiser. I bought mine off craigslist for $200. Best $200 I'd spent in some time. I love my Wizard but the ROM's available for the Kaiser are just amazing and the device itself is fast, Stable, and just plain fun to work with.

So last night my car was broken into and they trashed my alpine deck and stole my ipod. So today while shopping for a new stereo for my car I tried finding something that would work well with my HTC Hero. I was hoping for something that would bluetooth connect to my phone and access the music on my sim card. Does anyone have a suggestion on this?

I'm on a Pioneer DEX-P99RS Ipod/anything USB.
Works well for me. Just plug in USB and mount it like you do a PC. reads all the tracks and ID3 tag info for you.
Not as fancy as bluetooth, but it works. This head unit maybe a bit high for most people. This was my first Pioneer, I was always an Alpine guy until now. I will never buy another Alpine after hearing this thing.

Depends on the adapter I think. Pioneer offers 2 that will connect through Ibus. I want to say it's just Music on mine, and the other actually has a Mic you can run...I'm in it strictly for the boom and to piss off the cops
I have an "aux in" jack in the console of my car. I just use a male-to-male audio cable. Pandora comes in very handy on long car trips.
oh no. K! Don't go down that road! I'm not saying you don't need a stereo that will hit 130db, but that should be the third or forth thing you worry about! First you gotta take care of your hub caps...are they spinnin' man? ARE THEY SPINNIN?
OP, I had a pretty decent deck that did both voice and music over bluetooth...had a pretty decent little touchscreen on it, too...I'll try to remember what it was and get back to you.

I haven't tried since updating to a 2.1 ROM, but with the stock 1.5 I had lag issues running bluetooth audio to my stereo Moto headset. Mostly when using the radio at the same time, like pandora or if it decided to do a sync. I have an older Pioneer with a 3.5mm headphone hooked up, works amazing for me. Would be interested in finding out if the bluetooth works flawless.
Thinking of getting this one it says it does bluetooth audio streaming
http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_113KDCX994/Kenwood-Excelon-KDC-X994.html?o=v&tp=5684
radios dont support ad2p at least i have yet to find one so u cant stream audio over bluetooth but u can still do 3.5 or usb
Well right here under the General Features it says A2DP support and says yes
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/2008_Car_Entertainment/KDC-X994
in my experience kenwood got very fuzzy at high frequencies.
im hugeee into a2dp and the BEST quality chip is sony.
so ANY sony xplod MEX-BT series are amazingg.
i used to hate sony xplod until i tried the bt audio. i have the low end one i got for like 80 bucks. it only has an aux jack and bt but you cant tell a difference in aux and bt.
(im an audiophile too)
i tried kenwood and quality was lost badly for me. Dual brand is by far the worst bt quality on earth. pioneers were ok but low fidelity with a2dp.
anyways hopes that helps.

Since I drive a jeep with out a top most of the time I bought a brand from wal-mart called "Dual". I haven't ever had much luck with cheapy stereos but this one is pretty good. It does bluetooth, usb, 3.5mm, Ipod control, hd radio. All for 140 bucks, which hurts a lot less than 500 when someone else decides they need your stereo more than you do.

Just bought this myself on eBay for $219 free shipping. Totally worth it, I was able to get rid of my AudioControl EQL equalizer because the sound quality was just that good. I'm having some issues getting 2.1 to remember the pairing, but other than that I can totally recommend the x994 on the merits.

Gotta say I picked up the dual at wally world for like 100. The bluetooth is pretty decent as far as the sound reception goes. Only gripe I have with it is when I would get a call the bluetooth wouldn't pick up but if I would call out then it would. That was before I got 2.1 on my hero. The music plays smoothly though. No connection issues at all either. Plus they are fairly cheap to be had at least if your concerned about that.
Dunno if this was suggested, but my boyfriend got the Sony MEX-BT2800 and I connect my phone to it with little issues. Audio works very nicely, as well as calls, though the built in mic can throw some people off but make sure to switch it from the default low sensitivity to high sensitivity to pick up your voice better (picks up engine noise more but no worse than talking on my BT headset). I really need to get this for my car heh.
I'm not a big sony person but thanks for the information. I'm heading out tonight to go check out and pick up a new unit. What ever I get I will come back and give an update on what I think of it and how it works with my Hero.
Thanks
I'm looking to get a new bluetooth earpiece and I was wondering what u guys are using.
I want all the goodies and dont care too much about price.
What r the best earpieces out right now?
Thanks!
Sent from my mighty Epic using XDA App.. Sweet!
I like the Blueant T1. It isn't cheap, but compared to other earpieces with similar features it is quite reasonable. The Q2 looks nice too, but is a little too "smart" for my tastes.
I swear I'm not trying to shill for Sammy but their WEP200 is well-made, tough, simple, small and good. And cheap. Only drawback is that you may have a bit of a struggle getting a good fit, but there are separate ear gels that help, like the one variety pack I bought at Best Buy last night made by Jawbone. I've been using this same WEP200 for going on 5 years, and never wanted another.
The Blueant T1 has worked great for me. You can find it on-line for about 49.00 and Best Buy runs them on sale sometimes. It will speak text and play Music.
check out the jawbone icon
I've gotten the Samsung wep 780 and 750 and other older ones bur I lose them
sent from my epic 4g with no 4g
Was originally looking at an earset but glad I found out about and bought a Blueant S4 speakerphone instead since it's mainly for driving. Anxiously waiting for Froyo on Epic so it can support hands-free voice dialing.
If you want comfort and really good quality get a motorola h710 and its not too expensive
Epic 4g
I'd go with either the Icon or the Motorola Finiti. Hopefully once 2.2 rolls around we'll get the same features, but on my Evo my Finiti would read all SMS and was amazing at voice commands and responses.
Blueant Q2. Expensive, but awesome.
Jawbone Icon here. Love it.
I've got a Blueant Q2 coming soon. I had a Z9 and Z9i before that. Anything Blueant is good. Some of the Z9s or Z9is can be had for $20 if you find a sale.

Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
or the one I have which is
Samsung HM3500, which is also stereo with included earbuds adapter.
Excellent products. Look them up. Both are A2DP of course. I use the HM3500 with my Vizio TV all the time.
Voyager Pro +
It works great, sounds great, supports A2DP so I can listen to my media through the earpiece (ie, music, youtube, podcasts, etc.) and it's comfortable.
Plantronics Discovery 975 Connects super fast to the epic!!!
It always reconnects when I separate the two devices, unlike others when they separate, the earpiece turns off.
So you have to turn it back on, for it to pair again.
Very light weight, super comfortable, good battery life and the portable charger/pouch comes in handy
And as far as wind it filters it out pretty good. Noticeably better than the jawbone 2

It sounds good but in my opinion you look like a cyborg with the thing on and gets a little uncomfortable when you where sunglasses.
Plantronics Voyager Pro hands down.
Its comfortable and has active noise cancellation. Everyone that I've talked to absolutely loves their's.
Sound quality on the Jawbones is supposed to be good as well, but I don't see how they could be comfortable.
i've used plantronics backbeat for just over a year. i have a gigantic head, wear glasses/sunglasses, and my ears off uneven (yeah, i know, i'm the picture of beauty!) and the headset fits and is comfortable (sometimes i forget i'm wearing it, thus looking like a douche who walks around with his bluetooth on at all times, trying to look important).
the sound is GREAT. i'm a music snob, and i'm pleased with the sound.
the problem:
it worked great on my old blackberries, but has been pure poo-poo on my epic ever since rooting and installing custom roms. it usually pairs, sometimes connects, mostly disconnects randomly, and most of the controls don't work. and when they do work, they work for every possible app (so i can't just start and stop music. nooooo, pressing play on the headset starts music, radio, video, and podcasts.) i'm HOPING that the official 2.2 will fix this, but if it doesn't, i will be officially reclassifying this headset as utter garbage. it would be a pity too- because i REALLY love it when it works.
Im looking at getting the Jawbone Icon or Blueant T1
If anyone has used both please reply.. Ill probably get one or the other tomorrow...
Thanks in advance..
