Unable to receive bluetooth beam files after Pocket Music - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Has anyone come across this?
Myself and two colleagues installed PocketMusic from Pocket Mind yesterday, and today none of us are able to RECEIVE bluetooth file beams. We're able to send (although not to each-other), but as soon as our devices are discovered on the sending device, they drop out. It's as though they fail to negotiate a connection or something.
iR Beam still works okay.
Device details:
ROM: 1.52.00WWE
Radio: 1.06.01
Protocol: 1337.16
ExtROM: 1.52.83
So far I've done the following to no avail;
* Removed PocketMusic and the accompanying features pack (then rebooted)
* Reinstalled the official i-Mate Bluetooth patch (rebooted)
* Rebooted several more times
* Swore a few times (generally a last resort, but sometimes it works)
I've also found a file dated yesterday in the Windows directory on the i-Mate called 'NG.txt" which contains the following;

Is this related in some way?
Google and the PockeMind website haven't turned up anything useful.
I'm going to shoot off an email to Pocket Mind support.
I'm wondering whether there was a file related to the bluetooth part of the Beam app which has been replaced by the Pocket Music installation. If anyone else has an i-Mate without Pocket Music installed, I'd love to hear from you if you would be prepared to compare your file details with the files installed by Pocket Music. Hopefully there'll be a common filename with a different date or size which we can copy over.
Otherwise we might all be performing hard resets later today!
Thanks,
Codenix.

Yep - it was Pocket Music...
Well, I bit the bullet and performed a hard-reset.
After the reset (as expected) I was able to receive via Bluetooth again.
As a test (before I installed any other apps) I installed Pocket Music again (with the features pack), and was then unable to receive via Bluetooth; so there you go - Pocket Music must overwrite some file or registry key required for Bluetooth receive.
I'll see if I can get a list of files and registry entries copied over during the install from Pocket Mind, and I'll post anything I find. In the meantime, if anyone has any experience relating to this, please reply.
Codenix.

Not Pocket Music after all..
Well, after more testing it looks like it wasn't Pocket Music after all, but rather the Bluetooth update from i-Mate, which looks like it changes the conditions which must be met to receive bluetooth files.
Prior to the Bluetooth update, the "Receive all incoming beams" check-box in System > Settings > Beam didn't need to be checked to recieve incoming Bluetooth beams - it was only needed to receive inbound InfraRed beams. It seems to be required after the Bluetooth Update however!
Read on if you want to know how I stuffed up, or otherwise, accept my apologies if you decided against Pocket Music based on my misdirected advice, because now that I've resolved this problem, Pocket Music Rocks!
============
After rebuilding I installed the Bluetooth update and immediately tried Bluetooth receive, which worked.
Then, as a part of that test, I would also have tested ActiveSync over Bluetooth, and in the process I'd have disabled "Receive all incoming beams" when I set that up. Bluetooth ActiveSync would have worked, and I'd have then installed Pocket Music.
Since I'd disabled receive all incoming beams prior to the Pocket Music install (and after the Bluetooth receive test) however, it appeared that the problem was related to Pocket Music as I couldn't receive anymore.
So it all turned out to be related to the freak chance that on the day that I originally installed Pocket Music, I must also have turned off receive all... beams, and then I just happened to do that again during my test. And meanwhile, my two colleagues who also installed Pocket Music (on my recommendation), also disabled beam receive that same day!

How do you receive files/pictures/contacts via bluetooth?

Hi,
A bit new to PPC and the Magician, just got delivery of my i-mate JAM yesterday.
This might well be user error and a case of RTFM but I can't work out how I send contact information/ pictures/ mp3s or pretty much anything else to my JAM via bluetooth. I've tried sending files from my old P910 and also from a friends XDA IIi. I see no response on the JAM at all and the P910 just errors out saying it was not possible to send. The error message on the XDA was a little more meaningfull though I cant remember exactly what it was but something along the lines of the device not supporting the operation.
I've searched through all the posts on this forum and googled for an answer but not come up with anything yet
Its a brand new i-mate JAM with nothing extra on it running 1.11.0 WWE ROM, 1.11.0 radio version, 1.11.179 WWE ExtROM
THanks in advance for any help
You can use your File explorer and the send-to option to send files via bluetooth.
here is a challenge for all the pros in here
How to make this work(file explorer/resco explorer) with the Bluesoleil stack ?
How do you receive files/pictures/contacts via bluetooth

... or simply go into Settings>Connections>Beam>Receive incoming beams (checkbox).. After that, you should be able to receive both IR and BT incoming files.

Yes, that's all you need to do. My wife is constantly beaming appointments to my O2 Xda II mini from her Palm Treo 650 at home. When I next pick it up there are multiple items waiting to be saved. Works a treat.
The MS Stack the Magician uses only lets you choose whether to accept a file after it has already been accepted. If you recieve a 5 meg file, you'll get no confirmation until the transfer is complete, then it will ask if you want to accept.

Receiving files (pictures & music) via Bluetooth from Mo

I've looked at several posts on a similar topic but not been able to find an answer.
I'm running the latest Qtek ROM...
My daughter is trying to send pictures to my Universal from her Samsung Z320i Mobile via Bluetooth.
It fails with a message saying unable to retrive service list.
If she trys to send a "contact/vcard" that works
The 2 devices have a pairing.
I'm able to send files to the Samsung with the Beam feature.
I have the recieve all beams option enabled
Looking in the registry the OBEX option is enabled (this is by default in this ROM) the only things that appear against this are vCard & vCal - this is why I believe the contact transfer was sucessful, and I'm guessing why the file transfer fails. Are there extra keys I can add to enable file transfer?
I have a MDA Vario (aka Wizard) as well and I can beam files OK between the wizard & the universal - but you would hope that they would work both effectively running the same software.
I don't currently have another make mobile with bluetooth that I can try.
My wife has a samsung and we are also unable to do it.
obviously the Samsung phone has a forward lock mechanism by Samsung. This prevents it from sending copyrighted material such as ringtones, images, animations, mp3 etc. to other phones.
This was used to be the case a couple of years ago when manufacturers believed they could make us pay money in order to download a wallpaper or a ringtone to our phone. The new Samsung phones don't have this lock.
I believe there is nothing you can do...

How to send AT command from PDA over Bluetooth to "normal" phone

Hi All!
I hope You can help me.
I want to send AT-command from my HTC Universal. I want to send SMS over Bluetooth via my Nokia 6288. I tried some programs. EasySMS is work via Irda, but it freezes my Uni when I try to send via BT. I set Com-port, and when I tap "send" it stop working.
I think You can advise me another progam ( i prefer free). Or something like hyper-terminal in WinXP.
The other problem is I can't set com8, com7, etc. only com4 for Outgoing port to my Nokia in my Universal. And when I set this port in EasySMS it freezes. ( I write it below). But It doesn't matter if I can send the commands in other way.
Sorry my English, I'm Hungarian.

But when I want to connect again the device out of range... It very cool app, I like it.

Am i stupid?

Hella all
First post
Got my HD love the Phone, but i have a slight problem, when i recieve Files via Bluetooth/Beam they dissapear into the abyss, i cannot find them anywhere, i have tried the search programme and traweld through every directory on my phone what if anything am i doing wrong?
slp
/Documents maybe ?
You are lucky to start ur WM experience with a device like HD
Nothing in /documents, i tried again today, wrote down the file name before it was sent so i couldn`t go wrong, did a search for the file, nothing found, its driving me mad
If you're using a programme like 'obex inbox' which lets you specify where to receive bluetooth files and if by chance you haven't configured it or configured it to receive files to 'My Device', then I believe you'll get the kind of behaviour you're describing. So, to check if you have obex inbox installed check in settings\connections and also in programs if it is there, and if it is, change the directory for receiving files.
Hopefully this should provide you some clue as to what might be going wrong...
Good Luck
Try /FTP in the storagecard. And to check if your phone received try sending an mp3 file then go to Music and click on Library > All Songs and your phone should search for every mp3 file. If the file couldn't be found there, then that means your phone failed to receive it!
Try DrYar bluetooth. It works much better, lets you specify incoming directory, and it installs an icon on main screen for quick bluetooth on/off . I had a lot of problems on my Hermes with default bluetooth also, and this is just so much better.
DrYar bluetooth
very quick silly question, cos i had a friend with the same issue.
When you are recieving the beam, you get the icon at the top. and when it has finished beaming, it is not yet saved, so you cannot access it. Now normally you should get a notification that you have received a file and ask you if you want to save it.
If the notification does not appear, tap the beam icon at the top and then it should.
tap yes and then it should appear in my documents or the folder you set in bluetooth FTP.
If it's not that, sorry for being daft, but you'd be amazed how many times i've been asked that on various different HTC phones...!
