Hello all that read this. I was so looking forward to receiving my XDAII which i'd bought unsimmed, it was going to change the way i communicated for ever. It arrived on time and it unlocked very easily and i placed my Vodafone sim into it. That was where the problems started, firstly Voda & O2 didn't really want to know that i couldn't connect the GPRS but after a look at this forum i did infact sort that out. I then attempted to sort out the MMS part without any luck what so ever. The thing connects to the server but tries to send but then just leaves the message in drafts. Then when i started to receive sms messages i could not reply to them in the same menu, i had to go to the phone menu and reply to the sms from there, how stupid is that! I am so gutted that having spent many hours, lots of money (don't tell the gf) that i am left with what appears to be a piece of rubbish which cost £500.

No problem replying to a SMS.
Just keep the stylus on the SMS in the list you want to reply to and choose "Reply".
Or if the SMS is open, just choose in the bottom the letter with the green arrow...

Calm down ! Remember, you are trying to use an XDA II on a network for which Vodafone won't currently offer support. However, it should be entirely possible to get it to work with a bit of patience. I recently started using my O2 XDA II on Orange and it took me a couple of days to figure out the settings needed. I can try and walk you through the process if you like. There are a couple of quirky settings required to get it to work with Orange and I wouldn't be surprised if Vodafone were them same. Leave me a PM if you are interested. Once we've sussed it out, we can then publish the results for everyone else to enjoy.
Firstly, have you managed to establish a reliable GPRS connection with Vodafone yet?
Have you sorted this yet?
I've got all the vodafone settings if you are still interested....

Hi all, I hope someone can help with this,
I have tried to all O2 using 100 (but this keeps getting disconnected automatically) so I have to call as 0845 number which uses my minutes + I was waiting 30 minutes to speak to someone and when i eventually did get through they hung up (I am well Pi***d off with o2). Anyhow
I want to connect to the net using GPRS, however no GPRS symbol is displayed and if i try, i get a message saying "No moden at above number" any help would be great.
Cheers
Matt
Right, couple of things to suggest.
Firstly (and I know this sounds stupid)....O2 have recently installed new call centre handling "things" which SHOULD route your call more efficiently but as they have been put in by IBM (also, responsible for more recent "good inovations" in O2) the bits aren't working v well! - trust me as I speak from experience and "from the horses mouth" - I work for them!
So chill when you do get through....the staff on the phones are getting major grief from customers, dealers and fellow staff members (mainly store staff) because it's taking ages......It's not their fault!!
Anyway, back to your problem.....you haven'y said whether you got a new connection or an upgrade.....if it's the latter did you ahve GPRS on your previous phone and did it work?
If it's a new connection then GPRS hasn't been provisioned for some reason (although it can tkae 48 hrs max from connection to go through), same goes if it was an upgrade and you never used GPRS on the old phone.
Give me the answeres to these questions and I'll give you my best guess!
Mike
Check settings
I use this site for settings:
http://www.filesaveas.com/index.html
I would also suggest that you check that GPRS has actually been enabled by O2 for you. I had problems with MMS not being enabled although I HAD asked for it.
Thanks Mike for your responce, and I promise not to go ape at your colleagues.
I have a new account with O2, connected today, however seems strange that it could take upto 48hrs to get GPRS active, I was recently with ORANGE and as soon as I activated the phone (a SPV) the GPRS was active there and then. Ah well I will wait the 48hrs and hopefully it will come active sometime soon.
As an O2 employee, you may be able to assist on this query. As a paymonthly customer on O2 400, I am supposted to call 100 from my XDAII to call CS, but when I do this I get disconnected automatically as if the number is dead, any ideas?
Many thanks for your help.
Matt
An update on the aboe. I have managed to sort this problem out, I did a soft reset and when rebooted I noticed the phone settings were on Germany, changed it to UK and GPRS works fine.
Matt
for anyone searching with this problem
MODEM NOT FOUND AT DIALED NUMBER
1. phone CS on 0845 and make sure GPRS is on! (APN provisioning for mobile web access (you can 'check' on the 100 number, but they can't turn it on for you)
2. 3.30pm is the 'switch over' time, so soft reboot after this time each day (
up to 24hrs) ...... phone again if still not on !
3. GERMANY is default if you go to MY XDA - connections. it will always be on Germany. but the wizzard should of set it to UK when you first set it
Do you have the correct settings for wap over gprs, email over gprs using O2 payg sim with free gprs pages and wap.
Is there any portal to get the settigs to the O2 phone directly?

SPV M600 and Vodafone MMS settings
Hello
I'm going crazy trying to get MMS to work but everything I've tried has failed so far.
I know GPRS is working because I can setup a GPRS connection that I can happily use to browse the internet using pocket IE and also send and receive emails from several POP accounts I've setup in the email app. Also, the Vodafone contract SIM I have came straight out of a Nokia N70 that had no problem sending and receiving picture messages and is actually 3G enabled.
I've followed just about every forum 'try this' instruction I've found but nothing. Calling Vodafone customer service was about as much use as a chocolate teacup as they wanted me to give them a make and model so they could send me a service message but for obvious reasons, the Orange SPV M600 was not one of them. How did you get anything useful out of them?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
also waiting
have pm u m8 and still no reply? Anybody got a cab for this or can direct me to one? Have installed a cab thta I found somewhere but phone still has orange settings on it?

Hey, Hi, I'm new here and I just bought the HTC P3600. I'm wondering what's up with it because I am receiving some SMS way after they are sent, example, I receive a sms at 4pm and the message shows time of reception is 3:30pm... things like that. It can be delayed like 30 minutes or just 2, I don't know if its the Smartphone or anything else.
Anyway, I'll upgraded to Windows Mobile 6, and sometimes it gets really slow, what could be the reason?
Thank you for your time.

It could be many things. I have a P3600 and have not met the problem you described. Are you in a well covered signal area? Because if signal is bad, service center may be trying to deliver the message to you and if it can't, tries a bit later.
As for WM6, it depends on the programs you are using and of the memory you have left (check settings, system, memory and look for running programs and free RAM).
Cheers!
Yeah, I have good reception.... Yeah I'll check that, thanks.
could that be an operator issue? did you try sims from other operators?
Yes it could be... no I haven't.. I'll give it a try...
me the same ploblem
Hi pacman 15 ,
I have exact the same problem .
there just arrived a sms from yesterday, when I open my text messages.
The sms sometimes only comes in when I open Text Messages sometimes directly .
I think the program is the problem and and not the provider.
If anyone has the same problem or solution pls .
Perhaps its the Radio version? 1.38.00.11
The ROM for me is 1.23.405.2
I didn't put wm6 on it yet , to scared to screw up.
there been issues with some operators being lazy when it comes to passing on sms's to other operators
though i only heard about it some years agoe here so i asume
somebody threw the book at them to make them get their act together
that's exactly my problem I don't know what to do to fix it... so from time to time I enter the messages to see if I receive one... :s
Same problem here. Have you found a solution?
its definitely the telephone networks and not your phone. especially during holidays when they get flooded with sms.
Same problem here but I really think it has to do with the phone/rom.
Never seen this problem when using Nokia phones for 5 years.

Think so. My phone doesn't ring when i receive an sms but it starts to when i go into sms page...
Should i try to flash a new rom and radio? have original htc rom (wm 5) and 1.38.00.11 radio
I don't think that will help since I've seen this with several different WM6-roms.
That's the problem: some sms arrive just when i go into sms page.So I receive 2 o 3 messages in one time...
But this does't happen every time, so i can't bring it back to shop.
I bought a new phone to use it with tom tom, internet explorer, etc but now i can't receive sms
I agree, this really sucks.
I'm a volunteer firefighter and recieve the alarms as sms,
not very good if I get the alarms 1 hour too late...

Not very good at all...
It seems to be a common problem... I wrote to HTC support 3 days ago, still no answer... Anyway i'll post here the answer.
Please write to htc and if anyone has the solution... post here.
Ive got the same thing, as does my gf (who hasnt got windows mobile based phone).
We are both on orange uk
If you post what network you are on, I wonder if they will all be the same...
I'm on Vodafone Italia, but i had no problem with my old phone.
I changed my sim, seems ok now...
Elisa, Finland here.
Trust me, it's not a network issue here.
No solution to this?
Vodafone Portugal, but I think it is a phone problem since I've had this problem since some years ago and only with this device. The same SIM on another phone (for example and HD2) works fine.
sometimes i get my sms late, although it says the exact time the sms was sent, i still recieve it 2 hours later,
when i send an outgoing message, all my sms's come flooding in.. is there a fix for this.. is anyone else experiencing the same prob ??
i am on rom 1.66, official htc
what full rom version you using?
what network you on?
country?
has this been happening long time or recently?
it has been happening recently it was more common before the sms fix, its not all sms's just sometimes, and sometimes i dont recieve the sms at all
i am in uk, on o2 network, using the htc 1.66 rom, the one off the htc website,
i am SO close to selling this and getting an iphone
Give O2 a ring, I had this issue with my Nokia E90, and it turned out to be a corrupt message on their servers.
thanks mate,
dont think its the network mate, gave them a call.. cud it be the htc, becos the sms problems over the past are well known !

its a network problem genrally
delayed sms sound
I have similar problem on htc iolite since the new coocket roo303oom. The message sound is delayed to when i unlock my screen.
Im having exactly the same problem. Im on o2 uk and its really starting to get on my tits.
I sometimes get them an hour or 2 after they are sent, yet they are date stamped with the time they were actually sent. Did you manage to get to the root of the problem? I called o2 weeks ago about it and they just suggested i try a new sim, which they promptly sent me but it has made absolutely no difference. Is this a phone problem or a network problem?
Both of you on O2, I doubt it's got something to do with the phone.
sort of same issue with my HTC HD2 on Voda UK.
MEssages being sent or recived are not arriving on my phone!!
thinking of getting rid of phone now!!
just to annoy you mine works fine on virgin in the uk
Mine works fine on T-Mobile too
SMS delay
could somebody PLEASE find a fix for this !!!,

this is a widespread problem with htc's , if u google , late sms, you wil find, people on all networks are having this problem
i have contacted them and they say it could be the phone
Hi everybody,
I'm still experiencing this problem. That happened after the last ROM upgrade (see attached screenshot for current versions).
The message arrived a couple of hours later. Not it's about 24 hours or I don't receive the messages at all.
This might be a coincidence, but I often was browsing with Opera when the messages finally showed up.
I'm using Zenyee disable htc messaging 1.2 as I'm syncing with an Exchange 2010.
It's definitely not the provider, but the phone. I've put my simcard in a standard cell phone where the messages arrived in an instant.
Anybody got an idea?
It not the network, its a file in HTC phones. I havent been able to figure out what was causing it until now. I am 90% sure I know the culprit, but I am not 100% sure. I am on a TP2 and I just ran across this problem today after I installed a cooked rom I made, before everything was fine. I am in the process of testing this theory out. I should have a better idea by either days end, or at latest by tomorrow. I am testing 3 packages out at the moment to see if my theory is correct.
Will keep you posted.
I have the same problem too or sometimes I only get the text if I unlock the phone then I get 3 texts at once also sending text if it has more then 160 but less than 180 (i think ) then ppl don't seem to get my text weird no lol
I've had this problem in my HTC Trinity...
Fortunately I don't have it in the Leo...
hi guys i really need help here.!
here's the story.. yesterday i went out shopping and had to swap my sin card (giffgaff uk) with my mums (o2 uk) so we could contact.
However, when i put that o2 sin in my phone, every five minutes this message pops up saying New Network Message
01704 0151 01695 01772
it post a lot of different area landline numbbers like above.
I thought it was a problem with my mums o2 siM, but when i swpped back, these messages still appeared on my giffgaff sim. my phone is the wm6.1 TG01 (see my sig)
when i got home, i tried a couple of different siMs but this message still keeps on popping up. it comes up as a text message with those area codes displayed. when i click on them, it says 'veriry phone number' i pressed call but the call aint go through. i even went as far as a hard reset, but this still occurs on different sims! please help, is something wrong?
as I'm typing this now, the messages still appear.
it seems to stop if i put the phone in flight mode. im 100% sure it is not a problem with this ROM. i have beeen using it for many months. thanks a lot, any replies will be grately appreciated.

I see the below post was in February 2011. I have just been to Southport for the weekend & my phone was bombarded with text messages from the above number with no message. I have a Manx Telecom sim which is part of O2. I had to switch the phone off to avoid roaming charges! I must have received about 40 texts - any clue what this is about?
Thanks
Roy
01704 is the dialling code for Southport, and 0151 and 01695 are for Liverpool and Skelmersdale/Ormskirk respectively.
Coincidence? Interestingly they are all in the same area of the UK.

Oh my word!
I posted this exactly 2 years ago - wow!
Apologies if this doesn't help, but I think after a couple of weeks the problem managed to just stop and went back to normal... Strange.
What device are you using? This may of course be related to Windows Mobile as I was using at the time.
Cheers.
