I want to run my ICQ in my company whilst connecting my xda to the cradle from my PC via internet, but we have a proxy server.
How would I go about to config my internet setting?
What is the difference between "The Internet", and "Work" settings.
Thanx in advance.

I would like to config my ppc to get online thru my office's internet.
But sadly, my office is using proxy server, a VPN, plus I'm on a domain.
On my ppc, I had applied all the necessary settings on proxy namely
proxy address and port number, and VPN such as site IP, user name and password for our Check point VPN.
On my desktop, the setting is set on The Internet but still failed.
Would it be the fact that I was connected as a "guest" during ActiveSync?
Can anyone shine some light on me please.
MovianVPN
You will probably need to download MovianVPN ($99.95) for use with firewalls other then Microsoft's, which is all the VPN client included with WM2003 supports.
Pocket MSN (MSN Messanger and Hotmail) only works with a direct connection the internet.
Does anybody know how to tweak it such as way (via registry setting etc) so that it can connect via the proxied internet connection.
The regular desktop MSN Messanger has the option in the app setting to allow it to work via a HTTP proxy server.
The reason I'm asking for this is that, some of us here in this forum, use the cheap GPRS service here in the US that only connects us to the internet via a HTTP proxy. We have web browsing and pop3 working, but not the MSN messanger and hotmail.
Thanks in advance for anybody that will provide some clue.

You must use a SOCKS-capable proxy. That is, not just a simple HTTP proxy. Also see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?s=SOCKS+messenger&sentence=AND - in there, I've also elaborated on this problem.
I understand this. However, the data service we use (T-Mobile USA t-zones) does not support SOCKS. We only have HTTP proxy and WAP proxy support.
Using the same data service from my laptop (with my PPC as the wireless modem), I could run MSN Messanger from my laptop (by using the HTTP proxy).
The Pocket MSN however, does not work. I would believe there is some way to tweak it to recognize the HTTP proxy as well.
Hi
I've tried to configure my iMate JasJam to connect to my company online address book (using a LDAP server), but it seems to only connect using an unsecure connection.
Our LDAP server only accept a connection using TLS or SSL. Is there any way to make WM5 connect to the LDAP server using a SSL connection?
Thanks

Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro
Palm Treo Pro
I am trying to force web traffic over a SSL VPN (CheckPoint SecureClient Mobile) through an internal proxy server but am not having any success. Has anyone done anything similar to this before?
From the mobile itself I am able to telnet to the proxy on the desired port once the VPN has been established but Pocket IE keeps popping up the error:
Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings tap Settings.
I've definied the proxy in the Work Network profile and set that profile to be used for both Programs that connect automatically to the Internet... and to a private network......
If I change the setting Programs that connect automatically to the Internet.... back to My ISP then Pocket IE goes directly to Internet
Any ideas on how to make PIE realise that it is connected to a VPN and attempt to use the proxy?
Thanks
Jon
User Opera.. I never had an issue with a pretty similar setup.
Hello,
I'm looking for sofware, which can act as a http(s) proxy server working on WM(sort of a 'SQUID' for WM).
My intention is to use it with internet sharing as I have 2 uplinks(faster LAN, but severely filtered + slow internet sharing on the device with full access).
The goal is to set up a proxy running on local adapter of internet sharing(192.168.0.1) so I can set this to desktop firefox(foxyproxy plugin) using wildcards(ex. Default->go by LAN, *.youtube.com -> go by 192.168.0.1).
Does any application for this exist? All attempts to search gave me only hints how to set proxy client on wm, not the server.
