I want to run my ICQ in my company whilst connecting my xda to the cradle from my PC,via internet, but we have a proxy server.
How would I go about to config my internet setting?
What is the difference between "The Internet", and "Work" settings.
Thanx in advance.

Hi , i am very new to pocket pc and so far its been good until i decide to use my HTTP proxy server with pocket ie,
firstly i dont get why pocket pc has My isp and My work sections on connection settings
secondly if i setup an gprs apn to isp section i cant use or add proxy server settings to it, if i create same apn on my work network section i can add and use my proxy server, thats ok i went advenced section and changed both (programs that connect to internet and private network) auto. used networks to my networkbut now if i try to get my emails with my ppc outlook can not connect to internet unlesss i change first setting ( programs that connect automaticly to the internet setting) back to my isp and if i do that pocket ie wont use my proxy server, is there any way to use porx server on pocket ie?
i have found my answer:
"Any user or ISP that uses a proxy and still connects directly to the internet will not work. The proxy assumes all connections with a dot in the name go to the proxy and that the proxy supports socks or winsock to connect. So company's that use a proxy to speed up access to the internet like when you use wireless will experience issues with e-mail due to this issue. So with the connection to Work, you can get to the web but no otherservice. So if you set it to The Internet then you can get e-mail but no web. "

My university WLAN network uses a proxy server for browsing.
Now, I can easily connect my O2 Exec with the university network but I end up browsing only the internal network. I don't know how to set up Pocket IE and/or Opera to browse through the proxy.
I couldn't find any setting in the browser or anywhere else to enter the proxy.
The only option for setting up a proxy is in the Connection Settings but I believe those connection settings are for GPRS and MMS and not for WLAN.
How do I browse on my WLAN with proxy? :?
Greetings all, new user here with a TyTN issue.
I have a TyTN I am having trouble to send/receive POP3 mail while connected to Wi-Fi network with proxy server. I have searched web for solution but did not find anything specific, I hope someone can point me to the right direction here.
This issue only happens when I am connected to my work network. With my current setting I can browse web with IE but not send/receive POP3 mail. I receive following error message "Messages can not be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.".
My wireless network configuration are
all default except "Connects to:", which is set to Work instead of The Internet.
My proxy settings are
"This network connects to the Internet" - checked
"This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" - checked
Under Advanced, HTTP proxy's port changed to 8080, Socks proxy port changed to 8080 with sock 5 selected, WAP and Secure WAP were left blank.
My IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter settings are
"Use server-assigned IP address"
I have tested my TyTN in free Wi-Fi lounges where proxy isn't needed, I didn't have any problem send/receive e-mail. I have also tested send/receive e-mail via GPRS, that worked fine too. Discussing this issue with our IT department, they suggested to change setting under IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi adapter to "Use specific IP address" and uncheck use proxy server setting under Network setup. I was able to send/receive e-mail when applying the above 2 changes to bypass proxy server. My question now is can I setup mail to work with proxy server instead of change network settings to bypass proxy server? Any help'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I have a problem with using the proxy.
I have mobile internet, but need to use a proxy server to get my e-mail from work. The only problem is that when I have the proxy ON, some programs don't have connection to the internet.
Is there a way to make a manual selection of which programs use the proxy and which don't?
many thanks!
Timo
