XDA II can't open programs - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Sometimes the XDA II cant open programs, it says (not exact words) "cannot open program, critical component missing, go to settings-system-memory-running programs, close running programs...." its not the exact words but something like it. I tried to check the programs running but there's nothing running. Although a soft reset sometimes solves the problem, it comes back in like minutes after the reset.. What seems to be the problem?
another thing, a pop-up usually appears saying "(file).exe cannot execute file" and this thing about the IA caller ID or something..
I also use Scary Bear's clear notifications.. and tried a soft reset but it keeps coming back...
The program memory has 40+ mb free all the time.
Would really appreciate your help.. thank you very much

Microsoft Voice Command memory problem

I keep getting a message pop-up on the screen saying 'Microsft Voice Commander has quit due to low memory. Please close some programs and try again' (or something very similar). The problem is I've got about 20MB of free program memory! How much does this app think it needs???
Sometimes when I try and run it it will stay running after the third or fourth attempt, the rest of the time it will quit after about ten/fifteen seconds.
I've tried reinstalling it three times and even hard-reset my device and cancelled all the ext-rom installation in an attempt to get as much free memory as possible. Has anyone else had this problem?

Storage memory is critically low

I'm getting that message.
The funny thing is, I haven't added anything to storage memory in a while. I got the phone a few weeks ago and installed everything I needed then - there was around 6MB remaining of storage.
However, whilst I'm driving today, I get an SMS and have a look and it shows me this critically low warning. I got home and tried to delete all my SMS but the phone decided to crash. After rebooting it didn't load all the today plugins properly, so I decided to reboot using SPB Pocketplus's safemode. I press the safemode option during boot and it says it will boot in safe mode but all it does is reset itself again and start in normal mode.
When it starts in normal mode it shows the critically low warning and freezes - I can't close the warning or do anything about it.
Does anyone know what could have caused this all of a sudden? Considering I had several MB free earlier today and haven't added anything to it myself... Also, what on earth can I do to fix this problem? It says to remove some programs but I can't when the device isn't responding or going into safemode...
Do a search for big files - also check your documents in case you've inadvertently recorded a lot of nothing (as I've done in the past) - also I believe temp internet files and remote desktop caching can take up quite a bit.

At the time it was impossible to search for any files - the device wasn't responding at all once it had booted up. However, I managed to connect it to my PC and access it remotely - even though the device's GUI wasn't responding and I had indeed recorded a load of nothing when it had been woken in my pocket by the SMS. Needless to say that button is now disabled.
Thanks for the reply, it's sorted now. Well, as sorted as you can get with the universal's minescule amount of memory
If you spend a lot of time surfing the net, your cache will fill up the space. Try to flush the cache and search for big files too. You should use SKTOOLS, is the best.
how
Daft question but where is the cache info stored. I can find may way around but I am not that technical. I am having the memory problem too. I have nothing on my device but its full. I have a map program on the card and thats it.
To clear your PIE cache, open PIE go to the menu and selct tools, options and then select the memory tab and click the delete files button. It will probably take a while. A easier way to manage this cache, in my opinion, is to purchase and install SKTools(a fantasic app for many uses) and run the quick clean program. I have the quick clean app mapped to a keyboard combo (using freeware PQZII) so it's very easy to free up memory.

SPB PocketPlus not closing programs

One of the main features of PocketPlus that I use is the close button modification - so it closes programs as opposed to minimising them. However, it seems that it has stopped doing that.
I can't pinpoint anything that I've done to make this happen, I haven't installed any new software or changed any settings...
Can anyone think how I can fix this? It says it is set to 'close' rather than minimise in the options. All the ROMs and whatever on my Exec are default.
I'm using 3.04.

Reinstall
Should solve the problem (easiest way)
Okay, I've tried reinstalling BUT...
Before I uninstall, there is about 4MB of storage left. This doesn't increase when I uninstall, and when I reinstall it gives me the message about storage being critically low...
Also, when I look in memory in settings, it shows the storage memory as 7.4MB. However, when I go to install pocketplus it shows the memory available as 3.9MB.
Softreset before you uninstall then
It does that automatically, it says that I have to soft reset to complete the uninstallation. I have also done it manually.
I've removed something else now and in the memory settings pane and the remove programs pane it shows 8MB free, but when I go to install it it says 4.5MB free... Why could this be?
Reinstalling doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. It still isn't closing the programs.
Does anyone know of an alternate way to make the close button actually close things instead of minimising?
Got your same problem. Went even through a hard reset on my qtek 9000 and had it re-installed. Works for a couple of times than this function stops to work....Who knows why
I thus decided to go that way
-magic button (excellent freeware) it gives you many possibilities to manage apps closing or minimizing
-spb diary
-resco launcher (very essential launcher but n°1 memory saver
If resco launcher doesn't suit you keep magic button and go to illauncher
After you have played with complex and very aesthetical apps..you come back to efficiency.....
have fun

Magic button seems to be doing the trick now, thanks for the recommendation
I've installed this program on my Vario, but when uninstalling it it doesn't come off. Furthermore, my Vario isn't starting back up after it soft-resets itself to complete the uninstall. I tried just about everything, nothing will work!
Any suggestions??

Error message on startup - 'quickmenu' cannot be opened

Hi All.
I recently installed a little program QuickMenu v2.8 just to try it out. (it displays a drop down menu of items, not to dissimilar to the windows desktop start menu)
However i didn't personally like it, so i uninstalled it in the normal way you would uninstall ANY other program you want to remove.
However every time i reboot my HD2 now, i get the following error message:
'The file 'QuickMenu' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file'
Clearly the unstall has either left crap behind, OR has deleted something that it shouldn't have? - & 'reinstalling' it is not what i want to do.
After clicking the 'ok' ..the error goes away, and the phone seems to work fine & the start menu opens in the way it did before installing the prog (large scrolling icons). The phone seems to have no other problems.
However, seeing this error message is beginning to annoy me.
How can i fix the problem to remove the garbage left behind or repair the damage the uninstall caused.
Will i need some registry editor?
Look forward to your wise words for a fix.
Many thanks
Hyper
you may go and check \windows\startup folder, QuickMenu.lnk link may still there. If there, just delete it
