I was in the middle of installing the XDA Developers special Edition ROM v1.2 on my SX56 when the USB connection between the PC and SX56 was somehow lost! The SX56 is now essentially dead. I have not tried to enter bootloader mode as I'm not sure if I will be able to exit it and return to it if necessary.
Can anything be done to salvage this device? I will pay to have someone reflash the ROM with an SD card (and then install the XDA Developers special Edition ROM v1.2).

The same thing happened to me!!!
I am on the same boat. I was loading v1.2 onto my T-Mobile PPCPE (with ATT radio upgrade) when all of a sudden the active sync went dead and my PPCPE is now stuck. Help !!!

I had kind of a bad feeling about doing the installation, even though I'm far from new to computers and have installed new ROMs on other Pocket PC and Palm devices...but I took every precaution -- including closing my office door so no one would somehow interrupt the process -- and it still "went south." Luckily, I can still get into bootloader mode, so I hope all is not lost!!!
As long as you can get into the bootloader you should be ok because it means your bootloader appears to be intact....

But assuming one doesn't know where to go with this information, how can I proceed? Are you willing to take on the ROM challenge? How much would you charge?? Email me...
And by the way, can the unit be powered off safely after being in Bootloader mode?

Skip the backup steps first since you can't do that with your fried ROM now....
I was updating my MDA to WM6 when my computer froze in the middle of updating, so i unhooked the MDA and resset it, now its stuck on the splash screen!!!! no matter what I do! and activesync will not recogizine it also!! ive tried hard reset be all its saying issomething about a FAT partition, it can still go into bootloader mode so i know its not bricked, its a G3 model...SOmeone PLEASE help!!!!!

Read the wiki for wizard, I am sure God will help u if u help urself. I think it can be restored by going into the bootloader.

Thanks, did some reading and solved it, but than i wanted a new rom and when i installed it I started and it stuck at splashscreen again, only now hard reset fails and now matter what original tmobile rom i flash it to its still stuck!!! Please help!

What steps have you taken, and where are you stuck at now? Can you bring it into bootloader mode? What IPL/SPL? You said its G3, is it CID unlocked?
So far i have flashed it with the original Tmobile rom and some others through the bootloader mode, but even after it says flash completed I still get stuck on the splash screen, my ip/spl are both 2.26, and it is CID locked, and at the time i dont had a mini sd card to perform an sd rom upgrade, god i wish i just stuck with my original rom, please help!

So you've flashed back the oroginal tmobile rom, is that also 2.26? I presume you are using the standard update util for the flash and it says completed? I've seen the update util do that (say 100% complete but not actually update anything) .. this behaviour is documented somewhere in this forum (took me about 8 flashes and a lot of confusion and frustration before I found the forum threads!) this only happened on a CID locked phone flashing a custom rom.. i don't think that happens with original vendor roms..
Can't say I have had the same problem. From looking at the forum, most people who get stuck like this can flash the wizard love rom and get back on. For me, I have mostly been able to get back to the original rom when needed, except when I bricked my G4 phone (before G3/G4 was well understood)...

p.s if this only happens on cid locked phones, is there anyway to unlock my cid while in bootloader mode?

Like I said I had not used it myself, but there are many references to it in the forums.
When you say you are stuck, does it load the Windows splash screen or does it get stuck on the IPL/SPL screen?

No you can't CID unlock in bootloader mode.. there are a number of threads on how to CID unlock...

Only that by all accounts, you should be able to get a working phone again if you can get into bootloader mode.. unless you have hardware issues. The other item that may be of problem is the extended rom which can get corrupted.

First of all, I am trying to use my magical ESP powers to guess what kind of phone you have! haha.
Assuming you have a T-mobile Wing
Download and install this

That is the Tmobile Stock RUU which will restore your phone to the way it came out of the box. Always keep that handy when attempting to flash.
Once you've done that, you can try to flash again. The RUU will always be your safety net... so don't lose it. Flash as much as you want, just always make sure you have it.

Let me start off by saying that this is the worst phone I've ever used. I had great expectations from this phone but never mind - I'm going to stick to my Excalibur.
This is the first time in my life that i actually bricked a phone. I installed a couple of cooked ROMs and everything went fine. I have experience with CID Unlocking and flashing ROMs. Anyways, all I did was try to flash back to the original Rogers ROM from the Original Shipped ROMS thread and that's when my phone got bricked.
I have searched and done everything possible so far and NOTHING WORKS!
So far I've done this:
1) I have tried flashing the Chinese ROM/Dopod WWE Asia ROM as their official HTC ROM's.
2) Done a hard reset
3) Loads into Boot Loader and the boot loader version is
IPL - 2.21.0002
SPL - 2.21.0000
4) Ran MTTY and i got gsecuritylevel=FF (which means install shipped ROM)
5) Tried running USPL but no luck
6) Tried installing Rogers ROM from the original shipped ROMS thread, still no luck as it gets to 3% and reboots
I seriously don't know what else to do. This is just ANNOYING!! Ive been sitting here for the past 4-5 hours trying to get this damn thing to work.
Is there a way to downgrade the SPL so I could flash a ROM?
Is there a free permanent CID Unock available?
Is there ANY WAY out there to unbrick a Rogers HTC TOUCH
(DAMN ROGERS !!!)
Finally, I'm trying the SD Card ROM Update method and hoping it works.
Mods, if you see this and know of a way to help me out, please do or anyone else who knows what to do so my life is back to normal, please help. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Ok, I tried the SD Card method, it says Checking SD Card Contents and nothing happened, all i see is a tri color screen. The SD Card is 2 GB, is the only file present on the card and it was renamed accordingly (the .nbh file).
Please help as I'm going nuts trying to fix this.

I've done all the searching I could and everything I've tried so far has failed on me.
I can get into the bootloader, get into the hard reset and even can run a mtty session and no matter what I do, it gets stuck at the HTC logo.
In addition to this, all ROM's that I have tried so far keep getting the Error 270 (Obviously due to not being able to even temporarily CID unlocking it).
I did notice a lot of people have bricked their devices and I figure if i can get into the boot loader screen then at least SOMETHING can be done.
Here is what i have learned.
I have the Rogers Touch, and i said SCREW IT, and going to pick up an AT&T Tilt.. I already have 2 S621's, 1 Tytn 2, and i need another phone for my dad.
I had the touch for 1 week and had the same problem as you. Here is what i gather.
1. YOU CANNOT - install the original ROM if you flashed the incorrect ROM
2. Because there is no HARD SPL, i used the USPL, which on reset will result in a CID relock.
3. In this condition, the only way to reflash if you can't get back into the regular today screen is a custom SPL, by Olipro or something.
But Olipro (i keep forgetting his name), charges 75 GBP which equates to $160CDN or so. I bought my HTC Touch used for $200CDN. Makes no sense to fix it. So i am going to try and sell this phone to someone who wants to fix it for cheap.
Sorry man, i looked EVERYWHERE for a fix, and there was NONE to be found, unless you use this guy , who has succesfully fixed everyone elses phone.
Honestly, if my phone was worth alot more than $200, i would pay him with no issue, but because the fix is the same as buying the same phone again, it makes no sense.

Worked for me once when i ****ed up badly.
Reset Button and hold down Both call Buttons.
And maybe i should not ask this but you have removed both SD and SIM card?
I'm uploading a 2.26 Rom at the moment.
Doesn't Canada have Vogue devices like the US? (this is a real question i don't know)
Attached is a 2.26 SPL only.
How far does it get in the Flashing screen (45%)?

Yes, I think I did do a hard reset but I will try again in 5 mins. It was a bad flash cause it stopped in the middle I think.
Yup Both SD Card & SIM Card Removed.
Im guessing the only way I could fix this would be - get the original shipped ROM but so far I was only able to find a dump and not an actual update installer.
My SPL & USPL is 2.21 - So what do you recommend. upgrading the SPL and then trying to re-flash..
Would the TMobile ROM work because my phones Rogers branded and no Canada does not have the Vogue.
In answer to your question, it doesn`t go more than 2-3 % and then gives me an Update Error (270)

I just performed a hard reset and tried reflashing but still no luck. It gets to 3% then reboots.
In regards to what you attached, how do I go about doing it? Let me know. I downloaded the 2.26 SPL and the NL ROM.

Yeah, I did.
I tried the .nbh from the Rogers Dump and it says Invalid Certificate. I tried this other .nbh which said Dead_Elfin, still no luck and the Dopod Asia
I'm so mad/upset and I've tried so many methods to fix it. Is there no way I can get the Rogers dump to work in any way?

When you say Dumped Roger's rom, you prolly mean dumped Roger's rom, then repacked with HTCRT right?

yeah, i meant the dumped Roger's ROM.
This is the most annoying thing I've ever had to deal with in terms of owning all my phones. I am selling this phone or returning it back the moment I fix it.

i think its time we make it clear to everybody that XDA means SHARING to help everyone out and not to ask for money in return for something. XDA should only be for those ppl who can work hard for everyone without asking for money.
This phone was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life. I'm sick and tired of this already and I still haven't been able to get it fixed.

I tried everything that these guys told you to do, NOTHING WORKS.
We have an operator branded device and do not have an ORIGINAL ROM to load in other than a DUMP.
Thats why we are stuck.
I am looking for someone local GTA that might charge less, but yes your TOUCH is fukked unless you are willing to pay OLIPRO $160CDN to fix a phone thats worth $200ish.
I am buying a TILT today, its not worth the stupid touch to fix.
What a waste of money that was. I am so happy my TYTN2 and my soon to purchase TILT has a HARD SPL to it.
So long story short, I did what some have managed to do... Flashed to a T-Mo ROM by accident... I'm pretty pissed over all of this and I've been searching for hours and can't really find a stable answer.
Basically I have a rogers sim and when I insert it, it doesn't ask for a unlock code or anything, however it does ask me to log into my google account which I try but I cant get any service due to the T-mobile rom...
What can I do? I also tried to go into recovery mode and tried to boot a rom and I get errors.

post me everything you see in the fastboot menu. Also, what errors do you get? Do you have the stock recovery or amon ra's? And you can't connect to WiFi either? I'm not sure which tmo rom you flashed but I'm sure they have wifi (correct me if I'm wrong!)

I cant get into fastboot at all. I can only get into the recovery screen with the exclimation mark and the triangle.
When the phone boots into the OS all I can get to is the "tap the droid to begin", can't adjust wifi settings or anything.

I would bet if you got a T-Mobile SIM you would be good as gold. You could also try rooting your phone and installing a different firmware. T-Mobile has a pretty robust development forum so you could ask there.

I am really interested in how you flashed the T-Mobile firmware in the first place. Did you have a rooted Rogers Rom, if not, what was the version that had, post e911 update? Where did you get the rom that you flashed your phone with, so many questions! Thanks
Yea I did. I had a cyanogen rom, and I wanted to update it. I wasnt paying attention... I didnt have the 911 update.
I did put in my wifes bell sim and unlock screen did pop up. So here arises another question, whats the fastest unlock service. I'm sure once I get it unlocked ill be able to re root with the G1 tutorial and re-flash a custom rogers rom?
You don't even need to unlock your phone to downgrade and replace the rom. I would just follow the directions to root a t-mobile g1 and then reflash with whatever rom you want.
If you do want to unlock I would recommend eBay because of the feedback system and it is the quickest and cheapest IMHO.
