XDA-developer tool to remove the SIMlock from a Wallaby.
Works only on 3.x ROMs (PocketPC 2002) which have the Wireless Modem functionality (which is all PocketPC 2002 ROMs since 3.16.52).
XDAunlock is not a desktop Windows application, it must be transferred to the Wallaby using ACtiveSync and executed there.
XDAunlock was included with the XDA-developer Special Edition ROMs.

I upgraded my ROM to ROMKitchen ver 4.00.11 ENG (WM2003). I want to downgrade to 3.17 ENG. Is there any way to do it directly by ActiveSync?
T-Mobile ROM's do not allow you to use Programme A to downgrade ROMS. This effectively means that running any setup program using activesync will result in a communications error. The only way to do it is by Flashing the ROM using the bootloader method.
4.00.11 is not a T-Mobile ROM. you shouild be able to go to Jeff's ROMKitchen and build yourself a 3.17.00 exe and just run it.
ROM 3.17 - Infrared problem
I have Qtek, not Tmobile, but anyway, I managed to flash with 3.17.03 obtained from Jeff's kitchen. Everything is working just fine, except infrared port. It just would not work. Infrared Receive program says unable to establish infrared connection while mobile device is conected to the desktop. The beam files doesn't work either. Can anybody suggest remedy?
XDA-developer tool to modify a Wallaby ROM image so that Programme A thinks it matches the device currently connected via ActiveSync. Using adaptROM, any Wallaby OS ROM can be flashed into any Wallaby device.
adaptROM is part of the XDAtools package.
can i update my xda rom from o2 to win 2003? where do i find such utility?
Point your webbrowser to http://xda.weblink.net/ This is the fabulous ROM Kitchen of Makis and LumpiStefan.
Click on "Windows Mobile 2003" and select which tools you want to include in the ROM and choose a bootscreen.
Build your ROM as an EXE file and download it when ready.
The status is shown on top.
When the EXE is downloaded, remove the SD card and put your XDA in the cradle and run the EXE. Follow the instructions on screen and you have an XDA with Windows Mobile 2003 (WM2003).
Please note:
When upgraded you have to install all your software again and re-enter your Contacts and Calender entries.

will i be able to unlock
thanks for your help on the rom kitchen? I have a few questions:
1. At the moment I have developers SER in my XDA 1 and it is unlocked, after I upgrade it to TMobile 4.01.16 will it still be unlocked?
2. If it will be locked again on upgrade to WM 2003 what would be the procedure to unlock it over 2003 without a cable?
Thanks
Ghaffar
It will be still unlocked after the upgrade.....
So no problem with this.....

Reverting back to Pocket PC 2002 SER
Thanks for the quick reply. Would it be possible to revert back to SER on Pocket PC 2002 after an upgrade to WM 2003?
Regards,
Ghaffar.
You can always revert to SER 1.2.
But it could be difficult, cause some some roms only allow installing a new ROM via SD-Card.
Try reading a little bit in the forum....
Stefan
It is possible to go back from WM2003.
I have done it the SD way.
First of all download the XDATools from this site.
Use the XDA OS Image tool to make a backup of your current OS.
Then use SD Backup on your XDA to make a backup of your "Working set" of applications and settings.
You now have a complete backup of your XDA.
I used a cardreader to make a Windows Backup of the SD Card.
Remove the SD from the XDA and perform an upgrade with your own cooked ROM from LumpiStefan.
In my case I could not downgrade using the SER1.2 via the cradle. I had to use the SD methode. Fortunately I had my backup of PocketPC2002, so I was able to flash back to my original XDA OS.
I cooked a WM 2003 SE ROM at Lumpistefan's but have been unable to get the exe file to install it. It keeps telling me about a communication error.
Has anyone had the same problem and found a fix? ActiveSynch appears to be working fine, and I have tried it on 2 PCs already.
Thanks

Concernig your problem about Upgrade to WM2003SE. A mentiond 1000 times here in the forum, this causes from the t-mobile ROM installed on your device. You have to downgrade the ROM first to a "normal" ROM (like the Special Edition ROM) via SD-Card, and then you can upgrade via exe file to WM2003SE
My friend bought long time ago; on ebay. Appears sim-locked.
Now i'm trying to help him in unlocking, i have read lot of treads, and tryed several programs, but still no luck.
Can you guys please help me and advise how to ulock the phone.
Configuration is:
T-Mobile pw10b1
MS Pocket PC v.3.0.12039 (buid 11178)
ROM 3.08.10 ENG (07/11/02)
Radio 6.02
Protocol 324e4
Bootloader 5.15
Network adapters:
AsyncMac1 NDISWAN Adapter
NE2000 Compatible Ethernet driver
PPTP1 NDISWAN Adapter
What I did:
using this page http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_Unlock2
-Installed ActiveSync from MS site;
-Backup the ROM to SD and to PC using XDATools;
-Tryed to flash bootloader with 'pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0' but it returns an error 'Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect'
?? May be it's because i'm already on 5.15 bootloader?
-then i tried to Install the 'XDA-Developers Special Edition ROM 1.2' but error said that BIOS is for pw10A1, not mine.
?? where can i get Special ROM for pw10b1?
-then i'm tried to go to http://www.romkitchen.de/, but didn't use the ROM because not sure if works (phone is not mine). Which ROM to use, will WM2003 SE work on mine phone? Will it remove SIMlock?
- i'm reading about the XDAunlock program, on web said: Please note that XDAunlock will only work on device with a PPC2002 ROM that has the Wireless Modem feature. Do I have PPC2002? Do I have Wireless Modem?
Thank you in advance for help!
ps is it possible to get unlock-code some where? Upgrading ROM can be too risky (phone is not mine...)
First of all, since you have already backuped the ROM of the devie would you be able to send me the File?
Cocnerning XDA Special ROM. Normally faslhing that should work either for PW10A and for PW10B devices. There is a tool called adaptrom (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=adaptROM) that can be used for flashing.
But I´m not quite sure if this ROM will work for unlocking the device. The Radio Stack of the device is also quite old. But you can give it a try. Securest way for flashing is via SD-Card.
Done this hundred of times already.....

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=UnlockWiz/Wallaby
I put my ROM:

Also, I put XDA-developers Special Edition ROM - just copied NK.nbf file onto SD-card using XDA tools.
But XDAunlock didn't run on xda boot... but i found this file in \Windows\ directory and run manually - and it's WORKS!
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP!!!
After that I upgraded Radio to 6.24.00 (no sure I this would remove sim-lock, didn't test; hope this version is stable/better that my previous 6.02)
Now i need to find a way to install dual-lauout (Russian) and to install some good Media Player (with avi, mp3, mov, wma and 3gp) - can you give me any advices?
Thanks again for all your activities and for your site!
ps forgot to ask - my devise became pw10A1, not pw10B1, is there are any risks with that?
