Where I can buy WiFi SD Card for XDA 1 ?
XDA 1 does'nt have SDIO. So whatever card you will put in, it won't work
hi ..
can you elaborate on the SDIO ? i have a sd wi-fi card .. and sure it fits as you say ... but it doesnt recognise the card either ... so this card is usless in this xda 1 you say ?

Unfortunate but true. The XDAII has an SD-IO slot, the original XDA only supports SD memory cards.
(There is a camera which emulates a memory card, but all other cards that aren't storage need an SD-IO capable slot.)
is anyone working on a new wireless program ?
or is everyone (USA anyways) waiting till xda2 come to tmobile usa, or what ever

Anyone knows whether there is a product that gets Wi-Fi onto XDA I via the sync port or IrDA port? Both channels should be possible in theory, right?
With Wi-Fi on XDA I and the upcoming VOIP products for PDA platform, we would be able to make free net phone calls over broadband at home (or hotsports if you subscribe them). You would pay $20/mo for the lowest end plan and get the high end plan others are paying $120/mo for. Home land line will become a passe!
forget XDA I !
it is over, it is histroy!
Quite off the point. xda-developers.com is for XDA I (& II) developers and users regardless whether XDA I is taken off t-Mobile's shelf or not. Besides, while it may sound cool and fashionable to say that, an $800 (or $900?) XDA II (without built-in Wi-Fi) sounds like a ripoff. You need a bluetooth earphone to work on XDA I? It's available without built-in bluetooth capability. My friend just bought a bluetooth earphone that works off of the earphone jack of XDA I for $110. Whatever else bluetooth can do is doable via IrDA and sync port already, not to mention XDA II's flaky bluetooth implementation (search for bluetooth for the headaches XDA II users have and you will be fed up).
I feel that XDA I was selling at or below cost for HTC to gain a foothold (R&D cost is always very high for the first product in the line). You can find it on the net selling for as low as $270 (search on google for "t-mobile pocket pc phone $") while a standalone iPod is selling for $100 more than that! XDA II is their payback time.
$530 for a flaky bluetooth, SDIO port (v.s. SD) and a little more memory? Even Bill Gate said that he would not pay for stuff that is not a good deal.

i was just wondering when the xda2 will be for sale in the united states and how much ?
I second this question!
and I third!
Probably, in 6 months if it all. Get SIM free XDA2 and enjoy it.
where?
Try this
http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...=&ebaytag1code=0&st=&SortProperty=MetaEndSort
thanks for the tip but i'll wait until the prices are reasonable. Also, it seem there are a lot of bluetooth bugs that need working out. the only thing i want it for(besides the fact that it does everything my xda does) is the bluetooth compatibility with the chrysler bluetooth car kit http://www.wjjeeps.com/uconnect.htm. I read somewhere in here that someone couldnt get it to work with the nokia bluetooth car kit because it doesn't have a car profile built in.
When price for XDA2 will be reasonable it will be already XDA3 on the market
im at least waiting for the new bluetooth stack
OK I really need your help. Read some forum but still confused. I am out of town for a business and in a hurry I just picked up my plug for my XDA II without that little adatpor that fits into your phone. Can I just pick up an adaptor for bestbuy for an ipaq? Any suggestion how I can charge this baby? I have the plug but not the adaptor that fits the phone. thank you
jaz
go to this page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors
and read
Modifying iPaq accessories
The quick answer is NO. The power dongle for an iPaq will fry your XDA II device. The connectors are the same but the pinouts are not. Don't do it!
As Rudegar posted above, you can modify the iPaq power dongle to work with the XDA II, but I don't think I would have the necessary tools to make this conversion while traveling, and I suspect you do not either. I would look hard for a dongle for the XDA or XDA II, as either will work.
:-(
That's what I was afraid of. So there is no way I can use the phone for a week?
This guy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6417&highlight=ipaq+charger
Said he is using h5500 to charge his phone. can anyone else confirm that? I also read that xdaII pinout changed. I am confused. I don't want to fry my phone but I do need my phone this week.
PS Is there any local dealer I can walk in and buy a chrager? I am in GA now
jaz
As I am, he is using the TRANSFORMER from his HP5500, but connecting it to the power dongle that came with his i-mate. As has been said - don't use the power dongle from an HP/Compaq.
Being anywhere in the US is problematic for buying any XDA II accessories. You might try a T-Mobile store or a CompUSA and see if any have the power dongle or cradle for an SX56/T-Mobile PocketPC Phone.
so plug for t-mobile pocketpc phone will work? here is a link
http://t-mobile.com/products/access...icename=T-Mobile Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition
Thanks
ok
I just want to make sure before i buy the car charger from T-mobile that it will not blow my motherboard. The car charger from t-mobile will charge my xda II phone?
Well . . . will it?
To the best of my knowledge it will. I own an i-mate and have never owned an XDA, but I remember reading that the charger will work.
I keep waiting for someone who has owned both an XDA and an XDA II to chime in and tell me I am either right or wrong - but so far nobody has uttered a peep!
Come on folks! Will an XDA power dongle/car charger/cradle charge the XDA II or not? Personal experience would be reassuring I'm sure.
got it working
I just wanted to let the community know that I went to the T-mobile store and picked up a car charger and everything is charged my phone. I have phone back.
thanks for all the help.

i've had both a xda1 and 2 and i still use the cradle and power charger from the xda1 on my xda2 so their power pin out are the same

Yes, if you re read my post I said I am using the power part of the iPAQ unit but connected to the XDA II dongle. I AM NOT USING AN IPAQ DONGLE
Ed
Rudegar - Thanks for the confirmation for me, for Jazlee . . . and for anyone who does a search in the future! Very helpful first-hand information.
Jazlee - I am glad you are back in business! I can't imagine being without my i-mate for a week - particularly while traveling. That's when you need it MOST! Congratulations.
Please share the most annoying thing that you don't like about your i-Mate, O2 Mini or something similar to it.
I have the O2 XDA IIs and the one part I hate about it is the inabillity to answer call the first try. It does this every hour on the hour.
I have never had a problem with my O2 XDA II. Other than the incompatibility with SPB Pocket Plus on the occasion hard reset, but to say the least it's a software problem, not hardware.
I'm thinking of upgrading to an i-Mate Jam because of the size and the 1.3 mega pixel camera. I'm thinking of upgrading the ram to 128mb from PPCTech, I don't think 64mb is enough, since my old Compaq iPaq 3955 had 64mb and HP iPaq 4155 wasn't enough.
Please share before I jump the gun and purchase the i-Mate. Thank you.
1) the camera is no good (Nokia 7610 1.3MP beats it handsdown IMO). even after the patches and fixes. bearable for snaps.
2) the bluetooth is MS stack. not a problem more of a preference; been spoiled by Widcomm on my previous PPC (an iPAQ), interface is not as easy with wizards.
other than that I love my JAM!!! but get an O2XDAIImini they say it has better resale value.
I heard that the i-Mate jam or similar to it, like the O2 Mini has a problem with picking up calls? If someone calls, it'll get drop, but after a soft reset, it doesn't do that. Is that true? That's almost the same problem as the XDA IIs or PDA2K.
More irritations
when the XDA Mini battery saving function is set, the system goes into sleep mode after the annointed period.
If you are using bluetooth headset (mine is plantronics M3000) on lengthy conversations you loose half the conversation (transmission side only , reception works OK) when the sleep mode activates, until you turn the unit back on. So you either have to live with the reductiion of battery life, the signal loss or remember to turn off the sleep mode, mid conversation.
Others have reported similar problems with no fixes in sight.
The battery life is disappointing but I have not owned other PDA's to compare it with.
The camera is a gimmick only, not for serious use.
I also have trouble in some internet sites requiring pop-up password entry
input (ie. one of my bank accounts) where it just will not acknowledge the data input. Dont know why, and the bank IT people cant explain it either. It works well on another similar banking site. ????
But.. all things considered, it is a pretty useful gadget.
PS; Cant buy any accessories in Australia yet, but www.boxwave.com in USA was a useful site and easy to deal with.
I haven't had any probs with battery life on my Mini. Much better than my SE T610, particularly when you consider the Mini does a double duty of phone and PDA.
Camera works fine for what its there for. Its not designed to replace a digicam, just be there for those moments you don't have it with you.
Not had any of these call problems described.

I'd have to disagree with these two comments, I think the battery life is good on the JAM and as for accessories, lots of online aussie gadget shops sell accessories for the JAM.
http://www.expansys.com.au/
http://www.mrgadget.com.au/
just to name a few.
I shall sit corrected and withdraw my remarks about the accessories in Australia.
Thanks for the links. Have already used one and the other was helpful.
When looking around early last month I coud find accessories listed on websites but nil stocks available. I was impatient so I got my soft case from the states, and aluminium case from Singapore while visiting. Good to see the local have caught up. Although they probably all come from the same places
Thanks for the Input
Thanks for the input, I was curious and now I found the answer.
As long as the pda don't act like my O2 XDA IIs, then I'm fine. I hate it when I pick up a call and can't hear anything on the other end until I have to soft reset it.
I love my O2 XDA II, but it's lacking buttons and keyboard. Both the II and IIs is too big, so I'm gonna try the Mini.
Anyone wants to buy any of my XDA II or IIs? Hehe, I'm serious.
I'm abou to buy a new Xda, what is the best option?
XdaIIs or Xda mini
Buy only something which has WIFI connection
I strongly suggest you buy either IIs or IIi because of its internal WIFI capability even if you say you don't need it now.
The Mini, although, could have a WIFI card for me is not so desirable.
Try to look at how the MINI looks with the WIFI card inserted. Very flimsy and looks not durable enough to survive real use.
The best is to wait for something that has WINDOW ver.5 in it.
Hi all,
I currently have a xda 2, but sadly it has a few issues and ive decided to retire it, i am currently thinking of buying this phone on t-mobile
what do you people think, is it a good phone / pda or does it have problems or is this a alternative
thanks in advance everyone
Rik.
O2 XDA Mini S
I'd heartily recommend the O2 XDA Mini S, but then I would. I have a vested interest.
I can heartily recommend the device as a significant upgrade from and XDA 2 (which is what I had). There are a few performance issues (esp Activesync), but overall I am delighted.
Edited:
To be more specific. The mini has much better bluetooth - I can voice dial from the headset, the handing off of calls is much more reliable. The mini has wifi - free internet at home (yippee). The mini is small enough to cary around at the weekend not just during the week. Meaning I now use it as my one all singing all dancing phone/pda/mp3/scribble pad/sat nav/etc.
Downside is if I lose it <fingerscrossed> <touch wood> I'm f*cked. It is insured, but unless I keep using the SIM from the kitchen drawer and not my work sim, the insurance doesn't count.
Cheers, Davebo.
I just sold my dopod 838.I must say it's the best ppc phone I ve owned.
Everything is perfect except its size.
we have just signed a contract with O2 to replace our current SPVM1000's (XDA II) with MINI S's
i personally recommend getting a wizard!
hi mate
i would gladly purchase your faulty xda2 from you if you want the cash?
