Is it possible to revert back to an earlier ROM? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Can anyone advise me if it's possible to revert back to an earlier ROM like 3.17 - I am on 4.21 just now. Perhaps this would help me unlock the phone- I am really struggling with this guys thanks

It´s possible to "update" to an earlier version. But i don´t know if it works with an other way than using a SD-Card...

just use adaptrom that comes with the cooked roms on yorches kitchen just go into the eng. file and replace the .nbf file with the rom versions .nbf you want then go back to the main folder hit start.bat and itll begin

the 4.00.10 and 4.00.16
the others can upgrade using exe...
Hi ...
I cooked and downloaded a ROM 4.00.11 and tried to upgrade a Qtek 1010 ... the XDA restarts and and error message tells that "Can't open USB/com port ......". Some one here said it's normal and that I have to redo it many times. I tried it over 10 times and the same is still happening.
Do I miss something ??
Thanks.

Hi Biso007,
Look at the IDIOTS GUIDE at:
http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3171
and follow the instructions thoroughly one by one and you can't go wrong, it did work for me, I was in the same situation.
Hi Ritmo ...
Thanks for guiding me to the IDIOTS guide
May be I should have mentioned that I wanted to use the easy way ... without the headache of SD cards and BootLoader !! ....
I thought the EXE method was made for the IDIOTS like me ... but seems I need more learning and money to be become an IDIOT
Any more help plz ......

It's dead simple... I was scared like you are, but if you follow the instructions as they are, you will see that you are not any more of an IDIOT than the rest of us.
In the begining I only used to play with .EXE files, there was/is no way out, so I had to resign myself to the fact of going to the next step, and blieve you me, if you do as the IDIOTS guide, not as bad as you may think.
The SD card and the Reader are not that expensive...
Hi Ritmo ...
Does it mean to totally give up the EXE method :?:
Now I wonder if it did ever work for any one here ... or it works in certain conditions ??
The .EXE ones only works for NON T-Mobile ROMs. If by 'mistake' you get a T-Mobile ROM, then you have got to use the .NBF or .NB1 upgrade/downgrade. After that, if you download NON T-Mobile ROMs than you can carry on palying with the .EXE ones...
Hope it helps.

2003 ROM File, where can I get one?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
Where can I get the latest ROM of PPC2003?
I currently have the latest offering from O2 in the form of the PPC2002 ROM 3.17.03 ENG with Radio version 4.21.00.
I REALLY want to get the 2003 latest ROM, and also can the protocol version be updated, never see it mentioned?
I have tried yorch.net, but it never cooks the ROM for me, gets to coping ROM files and then I get a page error, tried it on a few PC's. None worked.
Jeff's site is down the this site only has a DEMO kitchen.
PLEASE DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD THE LATEST 2003 ROM FOR THE O2 XDA (IRELAND)
Thanks,
Mark
Try
ftp://tmobile:[email protected]/
You have to extract the file using zip and only use the nk.nbf file.
The exe files also includes the RSU Upgrade, but only for US-Users...
This is the newest englisch WM2003 ROM (4.01.00)
HTH
Stefan
Downloading now...
Downloading that file now, so I just extract the ROM image and not the RSU and I'm sorted. Radio Version 4.21.00 from O2 is the latest then is that correct?
What about the protocol version, can that be updated?
Also one last thing, anyone use the XDA for MMS with O2 in Ireland?
Any solutions or best idea what program to use.
EzWAP 2.5 for Xda from yorch.net is the only tool to do mms on xda1 i've come across
also i asume that mms programs the same everywhere

Is there any ROM that does'nt have all that T-Mobile stuff on it, if not how can I get the ROM to be generic, and lose all the stuff.

You can extract all the operator settings with the ROM tools and you get an "empty" ROM.
(bash setup.sh)
HTH
Stefan
How?
What ROM tools and how, I'm new enough to the ROM scene.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm bascially looking to get a blank WM2003 ROM so I can configure it to suit myself and not an operator.

Downgrade

Just upgraded to the new rtom, and now it's impossible to go back to my 1.6.7.1.
HELPPP!!!!! ...would be much appreciated
I understand your trouble.
First, download aWizard from the ftp site:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Misc/aWizard-V1_3beta2.zip
From within aWizard, enable RAPI, then run CID Unlock to be safe.
Then download this file:
ftp://xda:[email protected]__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe
Run the program and it will downgrade your phone to the following:
ipl and spl: 1.01
gsm: 1.12.10
rom: 1.05.04.12
Once installed you can opt out of the extended rom by reseting after the initial setup. Use the wizard unlocking tool and soft reset. You can then delete and write new files to the extended rom if you like.
This rom works well if you do not need pushmail or run stereo bluetooth. At this point you may upgrade the rom and radio if you like.
Please be aware that the 2.07 radio rom found in the newer os rom does not succesfully mate with a 1.x os rom. I hope this helps.
Best,

Hi,
Even worse than it already is? Jeezus... :?
I cannot use because my ROM is a Greek one, and the new one lacks everything Greek until the Greek guys translate it by the end of the month. I was stupid enough to want to test it, without checking about downgrading first.
But I finally made it
the nba file could potentially be found on the ftp site...though i'm not sure...
I have the T-Mobile MDA (US) so before I did any editing I backed up the rom, splash, etc... using aWizard which generated the nba files for the ROM, Radio, splash, etc...

how to flash any ROM to CID locked artemis

1. download ROM you'd like to flash
2. download dutty's good NBHTool
3. download upgrade tool
4. run nbhtool and extract windows.nb from nbh file that came with ROM
5.run upgraderom.bat and keep fingers crossed
6. do hardreset and enjoy
it should work with any ROM, but it upgrades only OS, not radio, ipl spl...
You must have async connection.(dont work thru bootloader)
Hi Are u sure this works..cos I hv tried several times on MDA compact III with no success at all, all the PDAMobiz versions

Ty jsi Slovák?
Also have PDAMobiz powermap 1.1.2 ROM installed on my HTC P3300 but would like a little cleaner ROM. As my device is locked and if this is method is really working, even at least for OS only, I have few questions:
1. Which English ROM is there that I can try and that is atleast AKU 3.01. Newer will be better.
2. ROM supports everything P3300 does - wifi + gps + .....
BTW, if I'll extract the windows.nb from nbh file, whats up with Extended ROM then .... as I understand it wont be included .... am I right. Best option then will be ..... ?
Tnx.
2 cosX: Asi ano ked to mam napisane v profile
2EazyVG:
1. READ WIKI - there are desc. of all ROMs avialable, including AKU versions
2. as above (it means as i remember only t-mo ROMs dont support WiFi - but even t-mo hw so if u have t-mo com.III forget WiFi /except for tmo NE i think)
btw. there will be no extrom, but U can extract all files from extrom thru winimage or so again read wiki
Tnx for your kind reply.
Tnx for your reply.

ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An Internal Error occurred.
Tried it on my compact III using the extracted file from the shipped DOPOD rom.
Any ideas on this?

The best way is to hard reset your device before upgrading it.

It means just what it says, that you should keep your fingers crossed while upgrading. Personally, I allways put my left sock on before the right one, too.
Sorry, pun aside, it is just an English expression meaning 'lets hope for the best'. If you are not supersticious, then don't bother.

Can I downgrade after upgraded to WM6

Sorry for asking stupid question....I searched on this forum, couldnt find answers.
I read on official HTC site, that after I upgrade to WM6, I cannot downgrade to WM5 anymore.
I found many customized ROM here (WM6), if I used that ROM, can I downgrade to WM5 after some times?
thx
Of course you can ...
how is that done, do you just overwrite everything with the standard HTC ROM or do you have to delete the Hard SPL and radio upgrades first?
You can do, but once you have WM6 you will not what too...
May be an idea to keep a copy off your orginial rom,
incase you want the exact same one back...
