Hi,
Siemens SX56 Unlock AT&T Wireless
I would like to know if someone unlocked its phone by himself.
All we read is people from everywhere except with AT&T.
My ROM version: 3.14.03 ENG date: 09/27/02
Radio version 6.12 protocol 324e4
Frequency 900/1900 American model PW10B
Does the Rom Update 3.17 from xda-developers works with Rogers AT&T?
Can we expect our phone to live after that update?
Is the new ROM functionnalities user friendly? Would you rather keep the old ROM version both UNLOCKED?
If you got your SX56 unlocked, can you tell me what you did?
I'd like to have your comments on what you did before I do it.
After spending that kind of money, I wouldn't like to kill my phone.
So let me know how you did it and what did you need to update it.
I expect to get details from you.
Thanking you in advance!!!
try the unlocking tool from www.xda-developers.com/XDAunlock/
if it doesn't work then try the ROM 3.17
good luck ...
Need a copy of 900/1900 SER ROM image

I tried XDAunlock and it doesn't work...
Now I downloaded SER but I don't have access to Unix.
So if someone would be kind enough to send me a copy of image.
Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I understood from it?!?!
Need a copy of 900/1900 SER ROM image
I tried for a week with all the free tools we have on this site and it's not unlocked yet. Can someone with a Siemens SX56 (USA or Canada) help me with unlocking my XDA ? I need a ROM image for XDA SER.exe which works for Rogers AT&T (Canada) or AT&T Wireless (USA), nothing else. And if you can: detailed explanations how to unlock with ROM image...
Thanks to you...
Why is the need for Unix ?
just try to cook a 3.17 based ROM and flash your XDA using the exe method. it will unlock your device with the first startup. in case it doesn't work you can cook it as .nbf file and use SD card flashing.
Mee too
I tried the steps recommended, it is taking an awful long time to read the first block (like 30') so I aborted it.
Any thoughts? Thanks guys, you are great!

The ROM has nothing to do with receiving the signal. It's the RSU part (Radio part of the device). ROM 3.17 should be fine with unlocking, but you may try this tool firls to keep your current ROM www.xda-developers.com\XDAunlock\
To determine the best RSU to use with your new network then you have to get some info about your device and the frequency of the network (900/1800 or 900/1900).
But ... get your XDA unlocked first then we'll see if it receives signal or not.
Good luck
I unlocked my Siemens SX56 from AT&T with the XDA Manipulator tool on this site. To use it, you need a serial cable for your SX56. I just made one. In reality, it would have been much easier to simply upgrade with the special edition ROM on this wedsite and use the unlock tool. The ROM upgrade should not effect the phone at all since it is the windows operating system and not the radio software (radio stack) which is a seperate upgradeable piece of software.
To be safe, just download your current ROM onto an SD card and then use a seperate SD card to upload the upgrade ROM. If you don't like the upgrade ROM, you can always restore the original ROM and the good news is that once your phone is unlocked, it's unlocked no matter what ROM you use.
Good luck, and upgrading ROM's using the SD method is really the safest way IMHO. You can find plenty of information describing the process on this site.

hey there i have a problem unlocking the SX56 its a ATT device witch i upgraded via the Siemens Website to the 2003 version,
now when i use the tool xdaunlock i always get an error:
error getting unlock code
anyone has some help on that
here is the info
ROM Version: A.30.09 ENG
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio Version: A.33.02
Protocol Version: 1.3.3
Model: PW10B1
please help me !!!
XDAunlock tool doesn't work with WM2003 ... you have to down grade your ROM to PPC2002 ... try to cook any 3.17 based ROM from the kitchen here and it's better to flash your ROM with the SER v1.2 which will ulock your xda with the first reboot
thx for the info
would you have some info what SER 1.2 is or some step by step instructions

GSM Band change
Hi,
I have an unlocked AT&T Siemens XDA I :
ROM : A.30.09 ENG
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio : A.20.10
Protocol version: 324e4
Under Settings>phone> i cannot find the tab found in other versions where I can switch the GSM band between 900 and 1900.
what should I do about that? is there anyway to switch band? or do I have to upgrade/downgrade the OS?
The phone is working with both T-mobile and AT&T networks, but I will need to use it in Europe and Egypt (Vodafone).
hey Biso007 , I hope you have the answer
thank you
Band Switching in Windows Mobile
The tab used to switch the bandwidth, 900/1900 MHz GSM, was removed in Windows Mobile as the software interface with the radio stack unit/RSU automatically will switch from the Americas' 1900 MHz to the international 900 MHz and vice verse when travelling to other countries. My friend has an unlocked Siemens SX56 Pocket PC Phone with AT&T Wireless(hopefully soon to be Cingular Wireless) as the service provider, took the SX56 over to Ireland with him on a business trip and used a prepaid SIM without any problems.
Band switching
Hey
Thanks for this information.

As raycaroll70 said, band switching is being done automatic between 900 and 1900 for B devices, and 900 to 1800 for A devices ... this is true in A30.0x ROMs from AT&T
In T-mobile ROMs it's still being done through the phone settings but only for B devices 900/1900. It's also worthy to be mentioned that the RSU is a significant factor in this issue ... I think A20.x does this auto switching, but I didn't try it with 6.2x.0x RSUs

SER v1.2 cannot unlock WM2003 version radio stack 6.25 or A33.
The SER V1.2 is absolutely obsolete.
I have developed new tools to unlock under MW2003 new radio

Thx for this already known info, but I expect the people coming to this forum for "FREE" advices ... then if it doesn't help they can seek a help with a charge if needed.
Note: even if SER v1.2 is obsolete (which is not true!), no one said it should be kept to be used as the final ROM (even tho it's still working fine) ... it's just a transitional state for unlocking ... and for the RSU issue, many people here down graded the RSU then unlock then upgrade back to a recent RSU ... and they did it with no charge as well

Downgrade Radio stack is big risk!
Many XDAs are dead cause radio stack downgrade/upgrade failure!
My device information :
Siemens SX56
ROM : A.30.09 ENG
ROM date : 01/01/04
Radio version : 4.21.00
I've read all the topic here, but nothing can't apply to unlock my Pocket PC. Can anyone help me with this ?
Thanks so much.
you can't unlock it while you have any WM2003 ROM ... you must down grade to PPC2002 ... SER v1.2 is good for that.
So can't have any solutions to unlock it ?
Cause I doesn't want to downgrade it, it's not a good way to unlock.
down grade, unlock then upgrade again
Hi,
I'm new on this forum and I see that there are very knowledgeable about the at&t siemens sx56. I just purchased one, and I intend to use it with my t-mobile service. It is un-locked with the at&t logo but I would like to sign up for e-mail and internet with t-mobile using this phone. Do I need to update/change the ROM as I've been reading on this forum, and how do I change the ROM to a t-mobile? I would also like to know all he things I need to do to make it run wih T-mobile services. Thanks in advance.
There is no need to change the rom, you can manually enter all the settings for your services once you have them from your service provider or from this forum.

thanks, how do I change the settings from At&t to the t-mobile setting. t-mobile will not give me any instructions since the sx56 is for at&t. I would appreciate it if you can provide me the setting or point me in the right direction. Thanks.

First, spend some time reading in this forum and use the search option ... then go to the kitchen and cook 3.17 based ROM ... flash your ROM which will be unlocked by that time ... then cook any other WM2003 ROM to upgrade your xda ... 4.01.16 is very good option
I have the AT&T SX56 with
ROM VERSION : A.20.11 ENG
ROM DATE: 3/3/03
RADIO VERSION: A.20.05
PROTOCOL VERSION: 324e4
I tried the XDAunlock tool and it didnt work,
the boot screen shows pocket pc 2002,
So i Dont understand why im getting the "Error getting unlock code"
can anybody tell me if i need to downgrade first, or upgrade, or what!!
my steps are to:
Get the Unlock Code and also Unlock the Phone
then Upgrade to Pocket PC 2003
Any help would be appreciated!
Sometimes the XDAunlock tool didn't work for SX-56 especially with A20 ROM ... it's better to flash your ROM using SER v1.2 and it will unlock your xda with the first boot ... then you can upgrade later to WM2003
That did the trick....
A20 seems to be a newer version of 2002 and does not work well with XDA unlock...
for those of you looking to unlock your phones out there...USE THE XDA SER 1.2 (Special Edition Rom)...
It will Downgrade your Rom to version 3 (dont be affraid of the word downgrade, its painless) and once it restarts, it will ask you to unlock, and VOILA... you are ready to roll
Thanks XDA Dev Team, you guys Rock...
Now we just need a 850Mhz hack, and us Cingular users will be set
I have tried much of the unlocking softwares out there. None of them worked. The tech guys say that the rom ver is very new, that there is no software that will unlock the phone. is this true?? What can I do with this phone now? It islocked to TMobile in th US, I am from dominican rep and we use Orange (france Telecom).. pelase advise

Unlocking did not only depends on the ROM Version. It also requires some "special" Radio Stack Versions....
Take a look here for unlocking....

Could you post the exat version of your actuel ROM. There are missing 2 digits at the end. Maybe I´m interested in a copy of it....
