Just take a look at the bootloader.
Here you can backup your ROM to an SD-/MMC-Card.
By this way you can also restore your ROM.

and if you don't have SD card, you still can take a backup of your current ROM on your PC using the ROM image tool (XDAtools) in here (check the forum headers).
it will create a file named NK.nb1 on your PC of a size of 32 MB which can be restored back using the same tool.
Good luck ...
Found a link, that desciirebs the prosedure....

What ROM are you currently running!
I ask this because the 6.18 radio stack is part of the current T-Mobile 2002 ROM which can be found here:
T-Mobile Current ROM Update:
http://www.t-mobile.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/downloads.asp
Will upgrade to this version:
ROM version: 3.14.40 ENG
ROM date: 11/26/02

Is Radio Stack 6.24 compatible with the current release of 2002 for T-Mobile? If so where can one find it and information on installing it? I'm interested in getting the "always on" capability and tired of waiting for T-Mobile to provide the 2003 upgrade
Yes...
I would also really like to have a radio upgrade for my QTEK 1010 something along the line og 4.10 or 4.20 not 4.21.
Please help me.
I can't wait.
THANKS

Stack 6.24 is compatible but you won't get the "always on" capability until
you upgrade the ROM.

As for the radio stack send me a PM with your email address and I'll
forward you a copy.

Radio Stack Upgrade for Tmobile PPC phone
Hey Qman can you send me a copy of the radio stack upgrade as well. I am in the process of installing testing some of the beta builds of tmobile 2003 on my device and want to get a better working radio stack than I have, I have a generic one that is not working too well.

Rumors
I've heard a lot of people hosing their radio with the 6.24 update. I have 6.18 now. Is there a way I can back up my radio stack (using serial cable), go up to 6.24, and still feel secure with the knowledge I can go down to 6.18 again?
Thanks.
Radio Stack Upgrade, no problems
I just upgraded recently to the tmob 6.24 without any problems. Found the instructions for copying the four files directly onto the pocket pc and installing from there.
I've also downgraded that same way, there's absolutely no magic, apps, SD card crap, or anything required.
Both stacks worked without any trouble, the .24 having always-on and much much better luck getting a decent Internet connection speed.
Just my two cents. Those people that are so worried about downgrading and all these stories about the radio being hosed, I have no idea... copying those files right onto the pda always worked for me.
You downgraded from 6.24 to what 6.18?
If so send me a copy of the four needed files to downgrade back to 6.18, for my records. Because as far as I know/seen radio stack v6.18 was built-in the latest T-Mobile Pocket PC 2002 ROM update, hence no files!
But if you got them please send me a copy!

The Zipped files is about 1.28MB in size, I don't think Hotmail can
handle that, at least it didn't yesterday when I tried send it to someone
with an Hotmail account!
I previously flashed my rom version from ATT/Siemens upgrade,A.20.17, to the XDA-Developer's 3.17.03 using usb cradle. This was so I could unlock my sim card. Everything worked smoothly, I can make calls and everything. Now I want to upgrade to the new ATT WM2003 and it tells me that "The ROM image that you are trying to upgrade is not ucompatible with your Pocket PC.
Your current device information:
Model: PW10A1
ROM Version: 3.17
Lang: English
Your upgraded image information:
Model: PW10B1
ROM Version: A.30
Language: Eng
So I tried to upgrade back to A.20.17 hoping I could go from it to WM2003, No luck. Any suggestions? :?
I think the installer is mismatching the version numbers. Your XDA thinks its a PW10A1 which if I'm not mistaken, is the Euro version of the xda - probably down to you using the XDA-dev rom.
A simple solution to your problem is to extract the rom update and use a SD card together with XDAtools to flash your device to WM2003
Why does the RUU package I downloaded say it won't work on my device?
The software in the RUU package checks whether the type identifier in your Wallaby matches the one with the ROM image. So if your Wallaby claims to be a German O2 XDA, the English Qtek 1010 version of the OS will not install. Our tool adaptROM makes this problem go away. (See below)

File is corrupt !!! :-( Please upload again .....
I have changed my Prophet from Qtek S200 V 2.9.7.9456 (it's russian release) то the one.
In fact, I am done:
1. Back up ALL with Spb Backup to self-extract EXE on SD card
2. Reflash device with fixed romupdateutility which does not check Vendor ID
At this point all is OK. Just blank system with from-the-shielf customisation sequence.
Then !!!
3. Restore ALL with Spb Backup
Final soft restart after restore and. Oooops! Hmmm. Unforeseen consequences here. First of all, error message at startup:
"The file 'sddaemon' can not be opened. Either not signed... bla,bla,bla... You might need to reinstall or restore this file."
Then, some time later I got popup saying that "\Windows\TimeWizard not found"
Checking the version shown something wrong:
ROM: 2.15.13.27 WWE
ExtROM: 2.9.7.9456
It looks like SPB backup restored the full ExtROM! And the restored files has some version mismach.
I was sincerely beleiving that it is a way to minimise time need to ROM upgrade, huh, that was wrong...
Is there any way to upgrade ROM and keep all my customisations and applications? Or I need to reinstall all the applications from the greenfield and all my custom tunings should be lost?
Finally, I have reflashed it again and reinstall all the software. All the rest data are on SD or on my PC... And than I need to customise it again...

Try Sprite Backup 5.1. It include the tools to restore backup to the new ROM.
Working flwlessly in my case, just update my prophet from dopod ROM to latest iMate ROM and restore all my software and settings.
Will try the latest dopod ROM over the week end.
con anyone confirm that the new dopod ROM is Faster and more solidly than the last Qtec ROM ??? had anyone do a Benchmark ???
Upgraded to Dopod 2.15 WWE, fast and stable. But I can't delete file in Ext_ROM after unhide. All files in Ext_ROM were restored after del and soft-rest.

thanx

I've read all kinds of opinions on restoring a device after a ROM upgrade. From what I've gathered, Sprite Backup is the best for this. That being said, personally I never do it because somewhere down the line something always eventually messed up on my phone. I just bite the bullet and reinstall everything.

Hello,
Firstly, I must say that I previously posted this thread on a wrong forum.
I am relatively new in this forum and also new in flashing a new ROM. I have a HTC p3300 with original WM6 which I bought some years back. So my PDA is open (not given by a telephone company).
Relevant Information
ROM Version: 3.13.405.1 WWE
ROM DATE: 8/28/07
Radio Version: 02.94.90
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.44
ExtROM Version: 3.13.405.102
I have tried to read how to upgrade from WM6 to WM6.5 or any other good ROM, but the more I read the more I get confused.
Please can someone give me a useful guideline on;
Where to get a WM6.5 or any other good, light and tested ROM (English Version)
How to flash a new ROM
I will be very grateful for any useful advice.
Thanks,
Jonat

Hello,
Thanks for your message. I tried to follow the procedure as stated in the USPL documentation but along the line, I got an error, " Error 260" No connection between my computer and my PDA. I got to the stage (interface) where I can flash a new version of USPL on my device then the error appeared. I had a good established connection between the two devices before the error appeared.
So, what can be the problem? I am using Windows Vista.
