Hi
Does any know why the xda ll can’t download the giff images at www.streetmap.co.uk that make up the map after you enter a UK postcode?
When a old 32mb 200mhz xda can
Is this a fault with the xda ll ?
if the old xda1 were using 2002 then maybe the issue is in ppc2003
maybe it is a issue in ppc2003
but when you are on the road and need to find a address it's a large problem
spoke with 02 about it they said mail the web site
so i did they say tell 02 about it
so round and round we go
i just love the help line's
well it cant be o2's fault since they dont make HTML interpters
at all ms does it's all in software should make no difference if we are talking about o2 or orange or even what cpu your device have it should be 100% up to IE unless some 3th party html program is used
Strange. Tried the equivalent GET on my webserver, and the image URL is logged correctly, so it looks like a problem on streetmap's side. The gif returned by a desktop browser is viewable on the XDA, so it's not a format problem.
Anyway, I use multimap...

Does anyone else have problems with the O2 website (www.o2.co.uk) and gettting it to work on their handsets?
Everytime I try to get on there, I'm prompted to upgrade my Explorer and then taken to the Microsoft website where the upgrade is for the desktop version, not Mobile??
yup
Do you know what the problem is?
I've been having a rather long email discussion with various Customer Service Advisors @ O2 (you know what it's like with them), and they still have no idea what it is.
I'll post the resolve if they find out what's wrong, and if no-one else does...
You need to fool the O2 website to think you have a newer version of Internet Explorer.
Download a program called RegKing 2003. I can't remember where to find it, but just type regking XDA in google.
The program allows you to change the registry and importantly allows you to fool websites into thinking you're using IE6.
Same here but...
I have the same problem but in theory u shouldn't need to! xda has its own xda compatible website and u can recieve ur o2 mails via ur handset!
O2 have now asked me to put my SIM into another handset to see if it I get the same problem. They'll know whether it's a SIM or handset problem this way.
Bloody shame I don't know anyone else with an XDA...
Has anyone had any joy with sorting this problem out?
Can anyone actually get onto o2.co.uk through their handsets?
This is really bugging me now, and o2 are as being as helpful as a blind guide-dog.
Richard
I have tried using a piece of software called tweaks 2k2 to set pie to look like IE6, and can get onto www.o2.co.uk fine (its a bit slow though) I'd suggest you try that.
An O2 account manager told me that they expect to release the new ROM with MSFP and presumably A2DP / AKU2 today, no sign on the my-xda.com site yet though.
Tum te tum
Still no sign. Did this 'account manager' say this was definitely going in yesterday or around now?
DBo.
He said it was going to turn up yesterday, but he was obviously wrong. Keep watching the skies...

I posted this info on the forum few minutes ago 8)
... I've created new topic because it's very important info (at least for the few of us)
Regards
can someone upload file to ftp?
I've just been to http://www.my-xda.com/xdaminis_soft3.html and the ROM isn't there - the launch ROM is the only one showing...?
Once you've entered the IMEI code it directs you to here
http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe
But gives a file not found. Guess they're still updating the web pages.
can you give me imei for a mini s device, i will upload asap
Okay, I see they've not updated the page I clicked above, but if you go to the main page the links are there.
The 50Mb EXE file downloads as 4K though, so somebody clearly jumped the gun when updating the page.
I can only see the file : Launch ROM v 1.5.4.102 (49.0 MB) ??????
UPDATE : Downloading it now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me too - the rom links are now live
Let us know how you get on.
I'll try it in the morning.
In Germany we have the problem, that o2 have never released a rom since some for the XDA I and II. No one for the III / Mini / Mini S. And i think this Rom won't be available in germany too.
O2 has a very bad update politic.
Contacted O2 with regards to Costs for using push email, and they inform me that its only the amount of GPRS data you use (Personal user not business).
But they include 1Mb free with every tariff and anything additional is £3 per Mb.
Is this the correct information ? Sometimes customer services do give out wrong information.
can someone post the direct link to the update as when i put in my imei number and phone number, the site just keeps resetting back to the start. i ported my number from orange so don't know if they recognise it as a o2 number.
http://xda.o2.co.uk/downloads/Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe
Is this rom that different to Qtek as I can see the radio etc is the same its just the extended rom that is newer, and that is prob just full of O2 crap that no-one needs.
But if I'm wrong let me know.
As everyone with a Wizard wants the best for their little pet!!!
I have just upgraded from the HTC Wizard to the TyTN which is an orange branded device I have removed (stopped) the orange customization, but I seem to be missing the MSN part of windows. I've looked on the windows mobile 5 web site, msn web site, but can't find where to down load it. any ideas?
Thanks to all the great information this site has provided I was able to completly open my wizard thanks to this site alone!!!! job well done!!!!
...Isn't msn embedded in wm5, mine is. It's called: pmsnlauncher.exe. I attache one but don't know if it's working standalone...
I just moved from the M2000 to the M3100 today and was dismayed to find no msn messenger pre-installed.
Seemingly it will not let me install Agile Messenger either, as it says that it is not supported.
I have discovered a link in the files which takes you to msn Mobile but then tries to charge you 10.99 to install it. Is there anyway around this, as I use msn a lot whilst travelling, yet loathed to paying for something I expected for free.
Any help?

You need to app-unlock the 3100 before you can install Agile. Once you've done that, it works fine.
To app unlock it, use a registry editor to set the following registry keys (these are decimal values, use 1 and 40 if you're inputing them in hex):
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 64
For some reason people haven't had much success with other registry editors, so I would recommend Resco's, which I can vouch for through experience.
Yep - installed it on my M3100 today.
Here's a link on how to do it:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2266.html
Follow the instructions exactly:
1) Download and install the WM2002 client
2) Download and install the WM2003 update
presto it works!
I managed to get a pre-registered Pocket MSN by copying files over from my dusty old HP I don't use anymore.
Files copied:
pmsnshared.dll
pmsnserver.exe
pmsnresources.dll
pmsnresources.96.dll
pmsnlauncher.exe
pmsnhotmail.dll
pmsn.lnk
pmsn.cpl
Needed to remove the system file attribute to copy it over though. I guess this is helpful if you have a copy of a pre-installed Pocket MSN lying around that you don't use anymore!

Or just go here and download and install it normally.....

Yeah, but if you use this link you have to pay £10.99 to use a program that everyone uses for free...

Yeap it is, i've been using it since three days now had no problem.
Hi All,
I downloaded Mobile Live and Messenger from this forum, and was able to install it on my Orange M3100. I then hook up my M3100 to my work wifi. I then run Live, and comes up saying "looking for internet connection" It then comes up with the bubble saying connecting to 3G, which I then hit cancel. It then seems to use the wifi connection the syncronise. Also when using it it, the 3G connection bubble appears regularly, and I have to cancel it. Is there any way I can stop Windows Live and messenger using the 3G service, and just WiFi?
thank
Nick

am actually after the hotmail part of the program than the other bits. i copied all the above files from my m5000 to the m3100 when you click on pmsnluncher nothing happens. what am i doing wrong. please note there are other solutions to get msn messager working, but this dosn't include the hotmail setup. ..help
That guy is missing a few files there, just to let you know.
oh great !!!!!!!!!
can't wait for the beta fto end to i can't get the damm thing.
oh by the way you wouldn't know what the other files are would you?
Windows Live Messenger Mobile is still down, with no end in sight. I really haven't had a chance to look at the newsgroups lately to find out what's going on, but I guess I'll have to.
at least i can give Yahoo Go some credit here, thier ppc client program works pecfectlyon my m3100 collecting all my yahoo emails.. let just hope google follow suite with a client version for picking up emails on the ppc.
Gmail supports pop / smtp access, and uses non-standard ports, so you can use pocket outlook to retrieve / send emails on it without problems.
Just got my EXEC XDA this weekend, tried setting up my GPRS,MMS settings (using T-mobile USA) all my settings seem right; but I can't get get pocket IE to open, I can however get Opera to open and surf, so I think my settings are correct? I also cannot connect to my email accounts(yahoo, gmail) it tries to connect then says connection lost, but actually the GPRS connection is still active. What do I need to do to fix this? All help welcomed. Thanks
sounds like pie is corrupt (outlook uses it's tcp/ip stack as well)
i'd hard reset.
Damn, I was hoping I could go awhile without having to do that already, I don't have Outlook on my computer so I skipped that portion of active-sync. How would it have corrupted?
well grats on your exec dude, its something you will like
Maybe if it was ebayed someone had 'tried' things with some of the xda files, im not sure how to fix this but not installing the office outlook on your pc shouldnt have caused a problem.
Thanks, It's a new unit, so I hope thats not the problem maybe I should run it in corporate mode?
If it's just a settings issue (and not a corruption problem), there's a cab file that youn can install that has the T-mobile USA GPRS settings. I can email it to you if you PM or IM me with your email addy. It doesn't do the MMS settings, which I can't seem to get working on my device.
well if thats the case, try get in touch with the suppliers of the phone, ask them if theyve had any probs etc, im sure you'l get it fixed
Hi guys,
Just got an Ameo (love it to bits already!) and couldnt find messenger on it anywhwere. I duly called T-Mobile customer service who told me it had to be downloaded. Wierdly you cant actually download it - just use the rather ropey web based beta! So me being me I decided to hunt the 'windows' diretcory, and lo and behold it was there.. so I created a shortcut on the start menu and voila! Of course the server for live messenger seems to have gone down so I cant try it (doesnt work on my exec so it isnt theh Ameo version at least!).
Or you could have navigated to "Pocket MSN" on your device and made the selection from there

Seems like T-Mobile needs a tutorial on this device. The quality of support seems to be getting worse and worse.
My experience is that, with the exception of GPRS / MMS settings, no company know anything about how XDA phones work. Which I suppose in some ways is to be expected, they are a niche market - or were until recently, at least.
Other than ringing T-Mob about my MMS settings, I've never rung them - or O2 for my Xda, Xda2, Xda2i or XDA Exec. It's just a waste of a phone call for the most part. Best stick to Xda-Dev and the other few places where the real knowledge resides.
Ant
My point was there was no 'Pocket MSN' on my device!! Unlike my Exec (with WM6).
